New MDA ROM version from T-Mobile Germany - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

T-Mobile Germany has released a new ROM version for their MDA. It brings the version number from currenty 3.13.xx to 3.15.12, dated 06/12/02.
Major changes are the integration of EUU3 and the "GPRS always online" feature already known from the latest XDA ROMs from o2.
Unfortunately the MMS client software has not yet been built into the ROM.
The SMS bug is still not fixes, so it's still needed to install the patch if you want to see the names of SMS senders.
"CSD line type" now has 4 instead of 2 entries: v32, v34, v110 and v120.
All in all I would say that this update adds less improvements than the latest XDA update did to the XDAs. On the other hand the version number is higher...
But now here comes the problem: Unfortunately T-Mobile has not yet released this version for download. I received it from someone who had it on an MDA that he just got back from repair. The radio version was also updated to version 3.17 (currently the latest version offered for download by T-Mobile germany is 3.07). I would believe that these updates will be available for download shorty, but currently they aren't yet. OK, radio update 3.17 is not that much interesting...

O2 Shipping XDA II with new rom version

Posted on tekguru forum:
"Picked up my second XDA II yesterday from our supplier. It comes with version 1.6 preinstalled. So the update for everyone else has to be just around the corner."
Hope we can finally sort out the few bugs which currently detract from this excellent device.
Indeed. I've already sent emails to my contacts at O2 to get an ETA on the update. They are checking now...
Emmm.... that's my one!
I have the device latest O2 Shipped XDA II with version 1.6 ROM. So if any of ye guys want to know something about it then ask.
So far I've determined that the Extended ROM is Read Only.
There's a JAVA Package called Tao Java
Album Version is 2.10 Build 14537
Camera Version is 2.01 Build 14506
Photo Contacts Version is 1.1 Build 14596
No GPRS monitor like in the TMobile ROM.
ROM Version is 1.60.00WWE
ROM Date is 12/03/03
Radio Version is 1.06.01
Protocol Version is 1337.16
ExtROM Version is 1.60.09
Don't notice anything else really. Very stable.
Does the Tao Java mean that we can run J2ME applications on the XDA?
I don't know it's looking for midlets, but I know nothing about that.
Cheers
Thanks for the information anyway
I'll just have to wait a little bit longer for the official release

Whether there is already official English version for XDA II

Hello all
Whether there is already official English version for XDA II T-Mobile? Where it is possible to receive a file?
Thanks
re ; T-Mobile ROM
as far as i know, "NOT YET"
this is the newest link about T-Mobile ROM, but not official, somebody said this is cooked ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11650
T-Mobile 1.72.xxxWWE to be expected shortly
Currently there are only 1.72.00WWE (wwe=world wide english) roms for iMate and Qtek 2020.
As these device are technically identical to the )2 XDA2 and T-Mobile MDAII you can use those ROM's (with some handwork as explained on this site).
I asked T-Mobile NL about the availability of an official 1.72.00 update. Today T-Mobile stated they expect an update shortly.
This is promising as the T-Mobile NL ROM will definitely be WWE

XDA2 ROM Version?

Latest available on O2 website is 1.60.00WWE is it not?
So what is 1.66.00WWE ???? Came with some XDAs that we received a couple of months ago.
We have "issues" with a 3rd party application and we have 1 unit that is 1.60 & seems problem free, so in the process of elimination..
Can you backwards flash the ROM?
Any issues with 1.66 if known?
Oh & ext ROM is 1.66.181 which is in contravention of website's "latest" version...
Hi Dave
Newer versions of the XDAII contain a different LCD display to the earlier versions. Basically the only difference between 1.60 and 1.66 is that 1.66 contains a display driver for the new LCD panel (plus one or two other small and "non-essential" items like a Cleartype tuner) and as such O2 are not releasing it for public consumption.
The next O2 release will be 1.72 which is due to be released soon and will contain drivers for both types of LCD panel.
Interesting... I currently have the 1.60.00WWE ROM on my XDA 2 and O2 informed me that the version currently available for download is 1.60.50WWE, which incorporates WM2003 Service Pack 1, plus a Java update. They could not tell me what Service Pack 1 added/fixed and also said that if I installed their later version, my phone could become locked again... Now I see that 1.72 is on the way, I think I will wait. Any idea on timing??
Hi cbrow51
All i've been told is 'not long'... tho knowing o2 that doesn't really mean much!
Sorry!

Oh yes, I upgraded too. Using original cheap O2 bluetooth headset sounded very clear and no power off effect. But when I used my Jabra 250V, still cracking.
Is it English version, Simplified Chinese version, or Traditional Chinese version?

Does anyone have any idea what is different in this ROM? I mean, does GPRS finally work, does the camera finally take good pictures? My guess is NO.

It all seems to work fine on my mini, although I have had one minor problem, for which I have posted a message here.

Enable USB-PC icon/application

I need to disable "Advanced Network Functionality" in Start\settings\connections[tab]\USB to PC
Enable advanced network functionality
But the O2 XDA Mini S does not have this icon/application, does anyone know if it's a registry hack?
this was an enhancement on the newer roms. chances are you may be on something older than 2.26 (if on t-mobile us). if you need the function, go to your carriers website and flash to the latest version.

I've just checked the O2 site for the latest firmware for the O2 XDA Mini S which is 2.21.4.101 which was the firmware rom the unit came with from new, it doesn't look if O2 have launched a new rom for this unit!
which sums up O2 in the UK and other airtime providers!
hmm...that's a problem...can you flash to a us rom? the t-mobile 2.26 us rom has that feature as part of it.
these articles state that aku 2.2 and higher had this feature added:
