Shift dead!? UGH please help me!

Okay,
I have a common problem for Shift owners, though lord knows why it happened to begin with, but SnapVue is gone and my audio will not work...which pretty much kills the main function of my Shift to me (traveling media player)....I NEED AUDIO UGH
Now, I have done several things in order to resolve my issue:
The first was a complete reformatting and reinstallation of Vista using the recovery partition....I did this whole proccess to no avail as the audio was still completely gone.
Then, I stumbled upon these forums. And read various fixes...
I ultimately decided to follow these instructions:

The instructions involved ECshift.exe and mtty_0513_test.exe....yet, mid proccess after running the latter application, USB was not on option as a comm port.
I have tried to disconnect the battery, I HAVE TRIED everything...
does anyone have any ideas for me to fix my shift?
I really want my audio, my wifi, my 3g....gahhh

The instructions you have followed are correct, if you don't see the USB option in mtty (special mtty version working with vista), that's either because:
a) your SnapVUE is not in bootloader mode (try ecshift.exe -bl a few more times)
or
b) you have not disabled Windows Mobile Device Center (make sure "Allow usb connections" is UNCHECKED).
Once snapvue is up and running, you'll have audio again.

I might just RMA the shift, but im nto sure how complicated that will be as it wasnt purchased in the USA...

I think what cmonex mean is that wifi is not supposed to be dependend on snapvue side. So it should be working. Otherwise it is fried, or you have made an interesting discovery.

what's up with your wifi? will it turn on at all?
as for -gm report, not good at all, not good. but please confirm the following so we are on the same page: am I right and this is reported AFTER -bl option says it successfully entered bootloader?

I tried modify the registry to try to fix 128 dpi problem, after reboot the snapVUE display a blank white screen with some RGB data on the lower right conner.
I followed the instruction to try to hard reset WM6, likewise, I can't find the USB port.
"ecshift.exe -bl" successfully entered the bootloader!
I tried "ecshift.exe -gm"
I get "current SnapVue mode is: 1"
downloaded hotfix "clear snapVue" but "time out" displayed!
will take to htc care center if I can't fix it myself.

Hmm, that's very random indeed; whilst trying what you said about doing it after the -bl option (which I had not done before)...I got ta different result:
it was a 1 and not a 0

Oh, and as for my wifi...Windows Vista simply detects no wifi hardware installed?
Or atleast that's what it says...
And I looked, but I cant find any Shift drivers for vista. I tried the wifi driver for XP to no avail...it just makes no sense seing as I reformatted and everything...

ho un grosso problema, non leggo i file cab e ink per passare a wm6, ho provato a scaricare i file da Modaco e da questo forum ma non riesco a leggerli. Inoltre, quando cerco di copiare stratmenu in settings mi compare la scritta che non è possibile copiare il file i. explorer. Perchè?

please don't be so upset. no need to take this back to HTC for such a small issue (don't misunderstand "small", I know it is scary looking). this is easy to fix. bet you didn't disable USB connection in WMDC.
so please do that. then mtty will see the USB port.
PS: HTC's clear snapvue thing won't work when WM can't boot properly. don't worry about that either

no, it is not random at all. bet you typed -gm first without -bl.
anyway, if you are totally sure you did the USB disabling right, this might be hardware issue
as for the wifi, that's weird.

thanks for the reply, pof also has a reply on the other thread, I have tried unchecked the box in the Mobile control center's [allow usb connection], still cannot find the USB port.
The shift was sent to htc care center yesterday.

heh, if any other HTC device was sent back to service center to get it hard reset, that'd be weird, eh.
after unchecking that box, you have to reopen mtty. maybe battery removal also helps. but I guess it is too late now. hope they won't charge you for the fix.

thanks for the reply again. I did reopen the mtty but still fail.
I told htc care center that the WM6 hang up! I can't connect to internet via 3G.
My concern is how to avoid the same problem. It caused by modifying the registry, because when I expand WM6 to 128 dpi, my on screen keyboard lost. However, the default is Chinese, I can't type any character. The only way is waiting for the cook ROM!

I dont see a problem... if the USB really didn't work = hardware problem
for me and for most people, mtty works fine with non booting WM
another way could have been (if you had waited) running the RUU and see if it can flash an OS on it (the process also hard resets it)

Download de firmware. Decompress it and you have the .dio file. Put this file into a less than 2 gb sd (sdhc won't work) and put your device in sdloader mode. This happens pressing together volumeup + ok and pressing reset releasing the two vol and ok buttons. After doing this, the device checks the file integrity, flash to your device rom and do a clean reboot. When is finished, it ahould autoreset, but if not, it will show a black screen for a long time. Is then when it has finished, so then make a reset and your device will have installed the ROM

How to update flash.dio i know. I Need english version. I have updated OS. But how to update FW ? Becouse now mine is 0.81 version. And then i upload original flash.dio from HP hexeded file. On phone i have some bugs, like xt9 in SMS mode. And bug in contacts. Can't seach contact by name, i can put only numbers there to seach. GPS not work. And other little bugs.
But main problem is how to activesync this phone ? Why PC can't find phone ( device ). Tryed anything. Different PC, different windows. Different cables. Can't find solution for it... I think must be way to find problem. HP agents can't help me, becouse warranty ended, heh. They just told me what phone port for cable can be out of working. But phone charging working well...

DeFuSeGM, you are able to activesync by bluetooth, just follow the activesync help topic under connection using bluetooth. Starting i got a lot problem to setup and took me quite a while to get it solve out. U can try it.
BTW, anyone can share how fast is your bluetooth phone to phone transfer rate. Mine is only 50kb/s, seem like quite slow compare to other phone i used to use.

I had the same problem on my 614c, I opened the device and re soldered the usb connector. Haven't had any problem since that.
But it requires good soldering skills.

Have changed main board and anything was okey with phone. Seems if USB dont work, you need change main board or try load ROM by SD card. But in my way i was stuck on that.

I’m having a problem with this app on my new headunit. It came installed, but everything is in Chinese. I have tried many times using my home WiFi to get the screen mirroring to work with my iPhone X but it has only worked twice. I dont know what I’m doing wrong, or if there is a specific sequence to follow to connect, but the headunit only showed up twice in the airplay mirroring section on my phone. Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

Hi there, new to the site. Do you guys have a working copy of thr tima avn app? I downloaded the apk file and it would it install. Unfortunately I deleted the copy I had to try a new install. The problem I have is my galaxy s9 will connect but I cannot control the phone from the head unit I have.

Want to control the phone from the navigation screen?
If yes try to connect to phone via USB cable and allow system acces and if not works use Easy connection app. And will work.
Another app for mirror screen is " easy connection " and it came in default Android 9 from Navi but doesn't have file transfer like the Tima.

My Car unit is not having the "EasyConnection" app originally installed and unable to get this app downloaded from playstore, any help.
I was able to download the app in my android phone without any issues.

I have tested both app ( Tima and EasyConn ) to control phone from car Navi.
1. Tima not detecting USB cable and works only via WiFi + Now if you scan QR code , it's download TimaStar in Chinese language ( I don't know what is , I think it's ads. ?)
2. EasyConnection works great via WiFi (some car Navi have bad/slow wifi dongle and it have lag when screen mirroring).
Best method it's to use via USB or Bluetooth but first you need to enable to phone Developer Options and USB debugging! Then allow all permissions.
You can't full control phone, it works only controls from EasyConn app.( Make calls but you can't end call , open navigation , music ).
I extracted APK file from car unit (android9) and I will attach both APK files( app.For phone can be downloaded from play. )

I tried with this but not sure why my mobile is not getting detected at all, both through WiFi or USB, tried multiple work around, changing the cable, reboot, uninstalling/installing back, but nothing is working out
I am sure my phone is in debugging mode.

On developer, enable usb debuging, enable security settings and install via usb. That's all but I see the sync time is slow responsive.

FF-5000/8227L - Poor FM reception and unable to update firmware (says "detected fail, please check usb and files...)

I recently purchased one of those Chinese Android head unit to replace the stock Honda factory stereo (6-disc CD) in my 2008 Honda CR-V. This unit was sold on Amazon and the seller actually included the necessary bracket/frame to replace the original factory stereo. It was marketed as "Android 10 Car Radio for Honda CRV 2007-2011, 9 Inch Touch Screen 2G RAM 32G ROM Stereo Bluetooth WiFi GPS FM Support Mirror Link with Dual USB."
From what I could extract from the various screens, my HU is:
FF-5000 (Alps) as reported by Google

The actual installation went fine with a reverse camera (I had "professional help") but I ran into three issues with the operational aspects of the HU.
Issue #1: I had logged into my Google account to access the Play Store, and it required me to enter a 4 digit PIN. This led to the PIN being stuck on the HU even when I had removed my Google Play account and each time the HU reboots or when I start the car, it prompts me to enter the PIN. A search here on XDA yielded some posts about installing a third-party app to remove the PIN settings which were hidden (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/remove-lock-screen-from-android-head-unit.3929076/post-85394787) but I couldn't find the aforementioned app and in the end, I was able to resolve the PIN enabled lock screen by doing a full factory reset/recovery. This was done by tapping the screen with FIVE fingers while the HU was booting up and having it to to "ROM recovery mode."
Issue #2: My unit seems to have really bad FM radio reception; it doesn't seem to pull in any stations at all. The seller had me try changing the "IC Type" in the hidden settings but none worked. Did anyone had any issues with the poor radio reception and what did you had to do resolve it? Replace the unit with a new one? Buy an amplifier? The cables to the FM antenna are connected.
Issue #3: Because of the PIN and poor FM radio reception issue, the seller recommended that I update the firmware and he sent me the firmware (only took several attempts). The filename was "8227L_8众越创UI军灿-国外10_v20_20210521.zip" and there were two files in the zip: 8227L-8.bin and 8227L-8.upd. The seller kept saying to copy it to a SD card and install but the head unit has NO SD card slot. There is a USB cable (two, actually) provided and trying multiple SD card readers and adapters and even USB flash drives and formatting them as exFAT, FAT, FAT32 or even NTFS doesn't seem to work. When I plug in the SD card or USB flash drive and tap the screen while it's booting up, the message on the screen says:
detected
Fail, please check usb and files...
So what does this actually mean? Does it imply that it found a USB flash drive/SD card but can't read it? This part is the most frustrating aspect trying to figure out why I can't get the damn firmware updated because it doesn't seem to recognize the USB SD/flash drive connection. Do I even need to update the firmware in the first place, with what I currently have or is mine outdated?
One disadvantage of doing the full factory reset/ROM recovery: I lost the "IGO Navigation" app, sample music and video files and not sure what else that came with the unit. Oh well.

I asked the seller to send me the iGO pack to install it again, but he keeps sending me a newer iGO version that won't launch on my current system. So I thought about updating firmware. The seller sent me the 8227L_最新(一体机用).zip file to update firmware, and I put the two files in the root of a working USB FAT32 pendrive. But when the updating process starts, I get the "please check usb and files message". So yeah, same here.

I lost iGO aswell and manged to obtain that from sellers cloud , ALL ! iGo app was only downloaded from Google playstore, rest is downloaded from cloud (maps - updated till 05/2021, license, etc.). I'm having this on my SD card on MAP slot on device just in case not to loose it again.

In my case the problem was that I was using a Mac to format the pendrive and copy the files. When I changed to a Windows PC, formatted and copied the files, the problem was gone. Cheers

Try with SD card formated with FAT 32 sys and default settings if you have slot for SD cards.

I finally succeeded by formatting the USB drive and extracting the zip with my Android smartphone. My windows pc apparently has a problem.

The actual installation went fine with a reverse camera (I had "professional help") but I ran into three issues with the operational aspects of the HU.
Issue #1: I had logged into my Google account to access the Play Store, and it required me to enter a 4 digit PIN. This led to the PIN being stuck on the HU even when I had removed my Google Play account and each time the HU reboots or when I start the car, it prompts me to enter the PIN. A search here on XDA yielded some posts about installing a third-party app to remove the PIN settings which were hidden (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/remove-lock-screen-from-android-head-unit.3929076/post-85394787) but I couldn't find the aforementioned app and in the end, I was able to resolve the PIN enabled lock screen by doing a full factory reset/recovery. This was done by tapping the screen with FIVE fingers while the HU was booting up and having it to to "ROM recovery mode."

Chinese headunit stuck at Android boot logo

Hi guys ,
I bought a universal head unit from AliExpress
Just after changing car model & logo in settings ,It is stuck on boot logo "ANDROID".
I tried to reset but failed .
Cannot enter recovery to reset.

I think that seller must give you update for that software just like my seller gave it to me. Seller must upload whole update in a cloud and then you download and put it in usb stick. Put then usb stick in device usb port. When starting car (when headunit starts) tap on screen till you see DETECTED message and let the procedure go on byitself. After update it will go inside ANdroid byitself. Problem solved !

He sent me some files with instructions to put on flash disk, connect to USB and boot ,the unit will then boot up .
I tried but didn't succeed.
These are ...
1, get one empty flash drive, copy this file "ATCUPG" to the flash disk
2. connect the U disk by the USB wire
3, turn on the car, Keep Swipe the screen left-right as the video show for a while
4.the left side on the will flash and show the update state and it will reboot, then pull out the flash disk, update finish
please check the the flash disk have download the file and check video

I think this is bad translation from chinese, stick to my text, just put this chinese update on usb stick, start car , start tapping on screen as soon machine starts and wait for detected message on the left upper screen and let update finish , if not detected use software from this forum (must find correct MCU and version of android with software of device - like CHS8227L_demo) will put links if this Chinese update is not working, try that first.

I tried that already,
I unzipped the folder & put it into the USB flash disk ,booted the unit while swiping on screen but nothing happened .
I tried many times with different USB sticks .

I see the problem now. Seller didnt mention you to make a bootable disk first and thn transfer unzipped files to it .
Format usb stick and with "bootable" FAT32 partition (no regular but BOOT DISK), then transfer files to it and boot device. Use "rufus" tool, download online install in windows and format usb.
When transfering files to usb just copy 3 files inside ATC folder to usb stick, no folders copied!

no actually it is android 10 (fake chinese 10, realtime is android 8.1) , but it should work
