Odin failed.... - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Questions & Answers

I haven't used my tablet in a few months and went to charge it. I just came back to see if it had and a bunch of jumbled text was in the top left corner and a barcode on the bottom right. It said something about odin failing. I tried a different charging cord incase it was that but it's still not charging. It just shows the round battery circle with the lightening bolt but no percentage.
Thank you in advance for any and all help.

I just tried pressing and holding the power button and it went black and when it returned it showed it was charging properly at 1%. I turned it on and it booted up quickly and seems to be charging now.
I still would like to know what happened and if it has the possibility of happening again.

You were in download mode. Was your phone modded in any way (root, roms, recoveries)?

I’ve never seen anything about Odin failing, did you try to flash it? Also, any pics?

Apologies on the late reply, had a tornado come through where i live and haven't had online access for a bit . Unfortunately I didn't think to grab a photo but I finally got it to boot up after pressing and holding the side buttons in. So far it seems normal and it had an android update that went through ok today. If it happens again I'll grab pics tho

or plugged in usb screen goes black and no response seem from pressing buttons
I had a similar problem as most phones in Canada seem to have Download/Recovery mode disabled, and here is what worked for me.
Grab something like One Click Un Root (all models), and click one click un root (obviously phone has to be on and plugged into the computer).
This should automatically reboot you into Recovery Mode!
All you have to do is "wipe data/factory default" or something like that (should be the third option).
As it states, you will loose all your data, but at least you will have a functionning phone!
did it work?
Hi. I have similar problem. Can anybody give instruction what can I do?
I have this problem too. Please help somebody
Add me to the list. Bell Galaxy S, went to unlock my phone the screen went black. Now it will not boot into the OS, the galaxy S splash screen displays then nothing. The menu and back button light up, thats all. ****[email protected]@
I have not rooted or anything.
Of course my download mode does not work.. Going to try this one click root thing if I can find it.
NOT HAPPY
This is not working. Probably because the phone is not in USB debugging mode as I can't change it... Is there any other way to get the phone into recovery mode?
**** me
i had the same thing happen to me the other day with my bell galaxy s and my phone wont do the 3 button combo trick. i left my phone plugged in to a wall charger for a while until the back of the phone became a little warm. i pulled the battery and then left the power cord plugged in and put the battery back in. i held the volume down and enter button until the battery charging indicator showed up, then i also pressed and held the power button until the boot animation started (this is the blue moving swirl and music, not the galaxy s splash scree) and then i let go of the power button. it took a few attempts at this before it actually worked, but eventually it will go into download mode at which time you can open the odin app, then plug in the usb cable and flash your phone that way. it did seem to make a difference if the back of the phone (around the camera area) was warm. if i let go of the power button while the music was playing and the phone did not enter download mode i would keep all 3 buttons pressed until it shut down again, then i would only let go of the power button while the phone initiated the charging screen, then once the battery logo was displayed i would hold the 3 buttons again and would just keep doing this until it went into download mode. i have flashed it at least 5 times today and i have been able to do this each time.
i also had an issue where odin would not recognize my phone was plugged in and windows would show a message saying the usb device was not recognized. i left the phone plugged in and while in download mode i pressed the volume up, enter button and power button until the phone went blank and when the galaxy s logo showed up i let go of the power button and the phone would go into recovery mode and then the usb drivers would be installed. i would then do the 3 button combo for download mode and odin would work fine. it took several attempts but it does work. i hope this helps you guys
If I hold all three buttons the splash screen does not come on, it just keeps looping the Galaxy S logo until I let go of the power button....

That's what mine did too, several times in a row and then it worked. For some reason it only works after the battery is charging for a bit and the back becomes warm. then it works at will
No luck. I am probably screwed getting it exchanged now too as I am passed the 14 days from Best Buy.
the on click thing doesn't work, if your phone is already bricked.
also it is not the phone's fault for not working, the phone was working properly before you tried the hacks.
whenever you do these kind of things you know you are entering into the "not supported" "not covered by warranty" zone.
in the worse case scenario, if you can no enter download mode to recover your phone, it'll be to take the phone back to bell and claim warranty on it, and prentent you don't know what happened to it.

Its my fault??
I did not hack my phone. Its not rooted, I did nothing to it.
By "unlock" I meant exactly that, unlock as in swiping the screen to unlock it.
The more I search the net the more posts I find of Galaxy S phones randomly bricking...
on the original message sounded more like you went to Unlock the phone, as in SIM unlock the phone using any of the tools available out there, and there has been already several people which had the same problem.
if you go back to Bell for an exchange, you better not use the word "unlock" rather use Swipe
as the message on the phone "swipe the screen to unlock"
there are no known issue about this causing the phone to brick.
if that is what happened to you, you should have started a new topic for people to help you, instead of hijacking the topic from the OP, as your issue is different from OP, the OP actually screwed up because he/she flashed the wrong ROM to the i9000
... anyways, Does it work if you reboot the phone?
I have rebooted the phone about 100 times. The phone crashed when I unlocked it to check a text I received. (not hacked). Has not booted up properly since. I have found many others with the same issue who have also not hacked/rooted/unlocked/ their phones.
Waiting on Best Buy to call me back. I am so pissed right now, I have been bragging to my friends and co-workers how awesome this phone is, one has already picked one up, I hope his doesn't brick too. Not recommending it to anyone anymore..
did you load a lot of MP3 to the phone?
can you boot into Recovery Mode?
in the recovery mode you can wipe the Cache and wipe the data
that should make your phone work normal again
it'll be best to open a topic to help you trouble shoot your interesting issue, as it's the first i've hear that you get a black screen after Swiping out of the lock screen
I can't get into recovery mode. I have tried every button combination I have found. I had about 2 GB of music on the phone. I also installed the Android SDK to try ADB, but since the phone is not in USB debugging mode it does not see it.

on the other topics relating to the 3 button not working.
have you tried the heating up method?
or the plugging the battery in, when all 3 buttons are pressed? (of course for this one you will need help from a friend, unless you are very skilled at keeping the 3 button on hold meanwhile able to slide in the battery in with out a 3rd hand)

[HELP] A500 Unbricking challenge

OK, I've got a buck thirty-seven in loose change and a John Denvers Greatest Hits cassette for whoever can help me out with this one. I was going to return my Icona to stock last night so I could let it update to 3.1; using Thors CWM, I formatted /system then /data with plans to do a factory reset (out of habit from flashing my phone every week or so, I probably didn't need to). Before the data finished formatting, I got called away from my desk to the OR and ended up leaving the tablet alone for the rest of the night.
This morning, I found the tablet powered down; when I booted it, I got the Acer screen, then the android screen, then it powered down. When I tried to use a USB keyboard to get into recovery, I got nothing. When I tried to boot and hold the "-" down to flash update.zip, it would power off before it would get there. Tried to use the hard reset, nothing.
Put my son on the project today while I was working. He tried everything he could find, specifically the 9-step procedure. No luck there, it will power off before he can get anything done. Strange thing is I just picked it up after it has been sitting a while and tried to boot into recovery, and it went into CWM.... for about 5 secs, then powered down. Now it won't boot into recovery, powers down quickly. He said it did that earlier today, so it seems that if you let it sit awhile and boot, it at least will get into recovery initially (I'm gonna explore that theory, letting it rest now).
Anyone got any advice or ideas? I've searched the threads and can't find anyone who has had this problem yet. If the damn thing had screws on the back, I'd take it apart and drain the battery down. Someone throw some genius my way.
No clues other then if it onlybruns a few minutes is it getting hot
You can open the back with a credit card. Remove your similar then go along the edge starting acoss the tap taking care and be gentle. The plastic on the back is part of what removes as part of the metal to back cover.
Hope this helps

I might try that soon, gonna keep at it. It's not a heat issue; it only runs a few secs before it shuts down. I know it's got something to do with me formating the data and not finishing the reset.
Have to ask, but is the bat flat or does it do it plug in.
Changing my post...I got a question instead:
When you hold down the "-" key, do you see anything on your screen saying the recovery key was pressed?

Well, I let it sit for a while, and instead of holding down the "-" key, I plugged in the keyboard and pressed the home key. Nothing seemed to happen, but when I turned it back on after that it booted up and let me go through the setup screen. Strange, but at least it's working.

Phone Won't Turn On After Reboot

My phone has the 11-20 build of Gummy on it, I just updated the firmware to MJA (hoping to get data) and it was running well for the past hour. I rebooted to recovery to try installing the Euroskank rom and now my phone will not turn on, it had more than 90% battery when I rebooted so I know that is not the issue. When I plug or unplug it from my computer, it will acknowledge that something was plugged in (by making a sound) but not show what was plugged in. Any recommendations as far as what I can do to fix this?

I held down the power button long enough to watch a couple plays in the Ole Miss game, pulled the battery and put it back in, no luck. I plugged it in and did not get any battery notification. I did find that by holding the power button while it is plugged into my computer it seems to power on and off on some level because it would alternate plugged in and unplugged sounds, still with nothing else being shown like the option to view files or see anything on the phone screen. Is there anything else I can do?

Well all you can really do is make sure your USB cable charger is working, let it charge without touching it for several hours, could also be a battery problem /hardware problem? Any one else? Have any advice??
I have bricked my phone pretty bad a few times, but I have always at least had the battery icon on the front show up,, hopefully a full charge well cure it,, just Checking but by power you mean the top right botton if the phone is facing you?

Not from what I can tell. The screen doesn't show anything, the LED doesn't light up. Is there a trick where I could trigger it using ODIN or HEIMDAL?
Put battery in phone and charge for 2 to 3 hours without turning phone on.
Take battery out of phone and leave it out for 1/2 hour.
Then put battery back in and see if you can get into 'Download Mode' - Hold Home Button AND Volume Down Button at same time and while keeping them held Press the Power Button till you get screen asking if you want to go into Download mode by confirming with a Volume Up press.
If you can get there maybe you can use one of the Odin/heimdal methods to recover.
Or even more simply - Odin Philz recovery and flash an MJA ROM - That's something I'd try first if you can do that.

I just charged my phone over night, pulled the battery for an hour and still no response from my phone what so ever. I would be ok with a total wipe if at all possible at this point as it does not seem to be booting at all. Could this be a bootloader issue somehow? I updated the firmware not long before this issue occurred and it booted up from that for awhile and this issue started after trying to reboot.
At this point, your best bet is to take it to Sprint and get a warranty replacement. Not much you can do if it won't turn on

Ok...just curious does anyone here have Ting and have tips about doing this through them? I don't actually have Sprint directly but use Ting.
EDIT:
For anyone following this, potentially in a similar situation, I found this service which I hope to hear back from soon, it says they can fix hard bricked phones on their site:
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-jtag-brick-repair/#ProductReviews
My sister's S4, which is running stock unrooted 4.3 is going through the exact same thing. The Sprint corporate store told her that she needs to have it serviced by Samsung >.>
Why don't you make a usb jig and force it into download mode,I think I seen a video on you tube on how to make one,I haven't tried it myself but I heard they work
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium HD app
Just checking, didn't see this confirmed. The screen is non responsive currently, but you said that using the power button yields USB acknowledgement..
Have you tried a complete power down and boot in to Download mode (Power + Volume Down + Home) and then plugging it in and seeing if ODIN recognizes it in Com? It is possible (although not super probable) that you are experience a flash screen/screen on issue that could potentially be repaired by a reflash.. I know a lot of the 4.3 updated were experiencing lack of flash screen but if left alone the phone would still boot.
Worth a try, if you haven't already.. Stranger things have worked for me in the past.

Yeah, I've been seeing other people having similar problems after updating even on other carriers. My guess would be that the problem is related to going from 4.2 to 4.3 coupled with user data/cache of system apps and Knox, but I really have no idea. Anyway, Thanks again
Well scratch that, it's back to its usual behaviour. Could flashing via odin fix this or could it be a hardware issue? I still feel like it's related to the 4.3 update.

Re-flaching Odin may fix it.
But it could very well be a hardware issue. I've had a couple of phone with batteries that were fairly new have this issue. Got new battery, charged and replace it and all worked.

Motorola Droid RAZR/Cyanogen mod problem?

I've had this Motorola Droid RAZR for like two years now and a friend of mine took it and worked on it, adding something called "Cyanogen Mod" and he 'rooted' it I believe? Ever since, phone has worked great. However, today I tapped the home button and the whole screen had a weird visual glitch where the wallpaper was entirely intact but the icons and such were only half appearing, like someone scratched them out with fingernails or something. It would go away and come back so I got frustrated and rebooted my phone. It starts up normally and goes to this screen where you can do different stuff with Cyanogen mod (like changing the rom? or changing boot options) and usually I just continue past that because for 1) I know nothing about it and 2) It always was fine. But when it did the typical boot up, it just skipped back to the first screen you get when you turn the phone on and repeats. It never goes to the second part of the Cyanogen Mod where the words appear and the little thing spins, it simply skips back to the screen you get when you power up and repeats. It keeps doing this and I looked online how to fix it, tried about twelve different things (like restoring different aspects and using different roms or making new roms) and it just didn't work. Eventually it got bugged out where the screen was just black, couldn't get it to do anything but reboot and go back to black. I let it sit until the battery ran dry I believe and now I'm at a brick wall.
Is there a way I can totally just revamp and start fresh? Like remove all of it and reinstall Cyanogen mod/the OS and all that jazz? I don't mind losing everything if I can just keep the phone, I don't pay for a cellphone and I don't want one I just use the droid for texting apps/games/reddit/etc. If anyone could help me save this thing I'd appreciate it.

How would I know if I had it installed? I remember when I booted up the phone something came on with a picture of a little robot that said "Safestrap Enabled" and then when I had this problem it was saying "Safestrap Disabled". I can't get the phone to turn on right now though, is there a way I can check what version I have another way?
Ah. I see. First. try entering Safestrap menu upon rebooting, instead of allowing it to boot normally, and look at ROM slot and see if custom OS' ROM slot is active. If it's there and is not active try reactivate it. If it won't budge, get microSD card and find XT910 (RAZR - spyder) CM 11. If you don't know what to pick, I will look in a bit.

Just tried booting it up, nothing is working I think the phone is dead. I plug it into the charger and only the notification light on the top left goes on a blueish white and stays on as long as it is plugged into the charger. Nothing will turn on at all and the phone doesn't seem to respond to anything. Is my phone just dead..?
Soft bricked. Try pushing both volume down and up button while plugged into either computer or charger, and hold down power button until it boots. I hope you won't need to buy Motorola factory cable at this point.
Let your device charge for a few hours until it boots up. Then boot it into APfastboot and flash the stock firmware with RSDLite.

Edit: Just plugged it in like you said and instantly the boot screen came on rather than simply that silly light so I think my phone is improving but I still would like to entirely revamp it or redo it or whatever you wanna call it so that everything is fresh and new and my phone is okay.
Good. I think it could be because the battery died somehow. Good thing the protection mechanism on the bootloader didn't have the wild idea of disabling the phone.

Samsung galaxy s7 edge wont get passed the att logo screen.. HELP

Iv done all i could find on here to do, please heop me get my phone to boot up!!!
Perhaps you should give a bit more info. What were you doing before you got this issue. Were you updating, are you*rooted, what version of firmware and whose network are you on.
Sorry, I am rooted and I am with att, it was Working fine until I tried to put xposedon it , after I did that it went into this boot loop. I used Odin to root and it rooted fine and still worked. Then I attempted to put xposedon and it messed it up. I'm on att and 6.0.1. Let me know if you need to know anything else. Thank you
Tried goin back to factory
I also tried using Odin to go back to the original firm ware, now maybe I did something wrong but I t failed everytime I did it. Any help would be appreciated
When the same thing happened to me, I was stuck/frozen on the AT&T logo screen, I left the phone to drain all the way down. When it finally drained the battery and shut down, I was able to plug in the phone to my computer and get back to the download screen. I let it charge up a little bit, then I Odin'd it back to stock (PI2). I have since been unable to root again, but the same thing happened before. It was a couple months before I tried rooting again. At that time, I was successful. Someone else may have a more elegant solution.

Couldn't you just have tried a manual reboot? Just hold power and volume hardware keys for 12 seconds. Once it resets enter into download mode.
