Hi everyone,
I've got an Junsun V1 Pro head unit with the latest firmware (8259P_军灿UI02v1280x720-国外_v50_20221226) installed in my car. Now I‘m facing an issue with my sim card for the car. When I install the sim card the first time everything works as expected. Internet is working and connection is 4G (even VoLTE). But when I turn on the head unit after standby, the connection is reestablished only with 2G (at the exact same location). The sim card is from sim.de and is operating in the O2 network and as multi card.
Tested with klarmobile sim card (Vodafone network): Every time 4G
Tested sim.de sim card in Huawei Gigacube: No problems
Checked and adjusted APN settings: No effect
Disabled VoLTE: No effect
Changed setting between 2G / 3G / 4G: No effect
Are there any known issues with Junsun and the O2 network?
kind regards
Markus

I'm using the same firmware and today I ordered an O2 SIM. I will let you know if I will run into the same problem.
You could try after sleep mode:
Disable and enable mobile data.
Enable and disable flight mode (maybe via search function in settings app).
Does it help to bring 4G back?

No, unfortunately not.
Yesterday I tried to increase the pressure on the sim and added a small piece of cardboard. It worked the whole evening, even after standby. But today it stopped and is back to 2G.

Unfortunately my SIM card still not arrived so I can't tell you if it works on my device / with my O2 SIM.
I can't imagine that it's a topic of bad electronically contact because the issue only occurs after sleep mode.
One possibly could be to compare the units processes before and after sleep mode.
1. Stop all apps to avoid unneeded programs occure in the list
2. List all processes running
3. Put the unit in sleep mode and wake it up
4. If you only have 2G list all running processes again
Maybe a service doesn't comes up after sleep mode which is relevant for 4G data connection.
I added the SIM card today and two reboots were required to get 4G.
I put the device into sleep mode (just a few minutes) and had still 4G.
Let's see how it is after a long sleep...

It works (not always).
This morning after wakeup the head unit displayed "no sim card" on the bottom of the mobile data icon in status bar.
After reboot it worked fine, so it was not a contact problem of the sim card holder...
I found this:
Post in thread 'Auto-toggle SIM card (e.g. with Tasker, adb shell)' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...g-with-tasker-adb-shell.3656963/post-73482775
This may be an approach to disable/enable the Sim. If you're willing to test I can write a small app doing the job.
After serveral days usage I have exactly the same issue:
After (longer) sleep only EDGE or even message "no Sim".
Changing mobile data settings or changing to flight mode not bringing back 4G. Reboot is the only way to get 4G again.
I don't think it's hardware related because it works after reboot without touching the Sim card dongle.
I will investigate the Android log. @the_moom you may want to do the same?! Four eyes may see more that two.
I compared the running system services after sleep and after reboot. Found no difference...
So next step is to check logcat...
It may help to restart the RIL daemon...
adb shell stop ril-daemon
adb shell start ril-daemon
I will test this tomorrow...

I have my sgs for 2 weeks now. GSM disconnects around every 2 days.
At service mode (*#*#4636#*#* - Phone information) i can see this repport:
GSM disconnects:
====DATA=====
State: inactive
disconnected with last try
at 00:59
fail because No Error
The question is: why does this happen?
Is this an android issue or a hardware problem?
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance

That's not the problem.
Gsm disconnects just like that ,at home for instance. And when I notice that and try to reconnect (settings- wireless networks- mobile networks - networks operators) it doesnt find ANY of them.
Then I restart the phone and gsm network is back.
If I dont notice disconnection in time (so I can restart phone, people just cannot reach me....quite frustrating...
i see what you mean now.
yes, i've noticed that on mine too, but.... that's because i was fooling around with some new Apps Widgets settings i was testing to control the radio and data to save battery.
Did you install any new Apps recently that might cause that?

Well I installed all kind of apps. but i have the feeling this problem was happening even before that.
And I dont need widgets to control data ( I think) because I set the sgs to use 2g networks only and I dont have apn configured( section is empty. Internet connec. only via wifi.

Well, my sim card is VERY old (2002) and the carrier (Telfort) is roaming into another carrier's network (Kpn) with no extra costs of course like real roaming, but still roaming (I get the little "R" next to the signal strenght bars)
Anyway this never happened with the Nokia 5800xm running Symbian OS and using the same sim card...
Starting to get pissed of with Android...
With Symbian you hack or root or tweak because you want to, not because you NEED to like with Android....
And then you prob. get side effects...
Thank you guys for your time
I would get a new sim card if I were you. Every android phone that I have had seems to work better with a good 3g sim.
Get a new SIM card.
same problem, different phone
i have the same problem on kaiser with flashed android on it.
sim is 2 years old, and now suddenly this happened, tried differents sim cards, but the problem persists. My guess is, it is a software problem.
Maybe i will report when I flash original WM6.1 rom onto it, if you are interested in the result
btw, this happened about two days ago and because of this im buying galaxy s so i hope the problem will be gone with new phone
did you guys see this other topic?

Why you think the problem will be gone if it's still android and I also got it with my sgs? Or are you counting on Froyo?
Yesterday I upgraded my sgs to froyo jpc with kies. I am new with Android but the post of Aery was so clear that i didnt resist: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769400&highlight=froyo+upgrade
I did get stuck on reboot but could get out of it after applying a cache/data/factory reset on recovery mode (3 buttons)
Now I am being carefull with the 3rd party apps., and so far so good, no gsm disconnections .
Froyo is of course better that eclair but Android is still disappointing to me.
You flashed Android onto a WM device (i'm impressed); could you not teach me how to flash Symbian onto my SGS?
Voice dialing (over bluetooth or not) and proper connectivity control (network, data, gps and bluetooth) of android is years behind Symbian; and such a well written, light OS, it will just fly on a high-end hardware like the sgs; but that is an issue for another thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7938430#post7938430
Pls keep reporting..

I think indeed that's not the same issue. My problem is that the radio signal get turned off during inactivity. That's why I got connection back after reboot: radio signal gets turned on again; later I learned how to turn radio signal back on without rebooting, but that is just a remedy , no real solution.
Try to upgrade to froyo, make a factory reset and be carefull with 3rd party apps. With froyo you will need less interfering tools anyway
I dont thing that my old sim card is the problem, but i'll try to replace it anyway...but first things first
Btw dou you have 3g turned on? Cause I never...
Another mistery: When I have 3G on I see those bars (signal strenght) dancing and that "death grip" thing happening:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LROTHrTR92k
But when I have it on 2G only the bars doesnt move even if I strangle it with both hands.....
Please repport later how it's going...
I had the same issue, i sent mine back and got my money back, i had also tried with different simcards and resets and nothing worked.. so hopefully my new galaxy wont have this problem. Its strange that these problems are so rare though.. But as long i get it going ill be a happy man.
fourth day with JPC ( and 4 days after a factory reset) so far so good no disconnections . I think problem is gone...
Today just to be safe, I got a new sim card....the other one was too old anyway(8 years)
i have the same issue, for a few days i can't get 3g. i'm seriously wondering about sending back my sgs. i've ttried all the settings, changed my sim..nothing...begin to think it was a fullish thing to change Desire to SGS..

Well... this is not the same issue.
I have 3G (WCDMA) disabled. I only use 2G (GSM) and WIFI for data/internet connection.
I Dont have a data account, I dont need it therefore I disabled 3G in order to save battery.
If you do want to use 3G, just go to settings - wireless and network - mobile network settings - network mode and set auto-mode (GSM/WCDMA or 3G/2G)
If it doesn't work, apply a data/factory reset and try again.
And if it doesnt work, it's probably hardware related and you should return it or send it for repair.
My issue is more complicated; next to the fact that I dont want to use 3g, my carrier is roaming to another network and probably Android OS or the firmware cannot handle it properly.
Android is still premature and the "Samsung - Android integration" seems to need a lot of development as well.
It is just a shame that basic functions like proper connectivity control just wont cut it. And Google is not doing any good either.
And dont let me get started on the voice recognition issue......
Hardwarewise, the SGS is superior that htc desire.....I wonder how it would perform if running Symbian^3 OS or Meego.....
I get a great sound quality from the stock music player just by mixing the equalizer and using the music clarity effect...just great...better than any other device I tried.
And the OFFLINE Gps experience is just great as well: the combination SGS - Motonav - External Bluetooth gps device is working like a charm.
I wouldn't change my sgs just yet......
yesterday i was swiching sims to determine if is a sim fault and suddenly i have my 3g/h back. happy owner again. i've tried all to do this, from firmware upgrade to servide mode settings..i don't know why but i'm ok again...

Hello,
I know its been a long time since you wrote this thread but I just came by it!
I have the exact same problem with you (I had it since August) even now with the official froyo. I tried factory reset and no new apps (that could cause the problem) but it still disconnects randomly in GSM mode. However, when I have it on auto (gsm and wcdma) I have no issues. I just disconnect data from the power button in froyo. I am wondering if you ever found a solution..
Chryssa
Well, I am subscribed to this topic so I saw your post.
Good and bad news:
First the bad one: No solution yet, it keeps disconnecting IF I stay on "gsm only".
And the good (or a little better) news:
I noticed that on sgs, using "gsm only" or "gsm/wcdma (auto mode) makes no difference on battery consumption....
By the way, this is a Samsung issue, not really an Android one.
On a HTC Desire HD, you can use "gsm only" mode with no problems...
Thank you for your answer!
I noticed that about the battery too. So not too bad, I just have to keep it on auto mode then..
Same issue
Im having the same issue but in a optimus t the worst part is that i cant get service at all.. when i press change network preferred it wont change and when i try to press on turn on radio it wont work either....
My phone is apparently in airplane mode...
but in the comm manager it does not list airplane mode,
it offers wireless connections with an airplane for the icon
everytime i try to disable it, the phone setting do whatever it does
someone explain how to make my phone work
i hate this phone so much
Wat? Are you saying that disabling Airplane mode doesn't work, or are you saying that you can't find AP mode? Wireless Connections in the stock HTC Comm. manager IS airplane mode.
i am traveling and i got off the airplane, and can get no service whatsoever
i know my service provider provides out here, because people im staying with have it
Have you reset your phone?
i have turned it off and on and tried pulling the battery and nothing helps
I Have the same problem with My HTC HD2, the phone will not come out from airplane mode, it will show data connection and wireless connection but the plane icon in the notification bar won't disapear and no network service :S any help please....

It could be actually that your network is really unavailable. Try another sim card.

Hi, my Windows mobile HD2 all of the sudden is showing no signal. Could this be maybe a pin from the sim card reader or has someone seen something like that before??? I have an HD2 running android also and is working fine. So im thinking this could be a hardware program. I even downgraded the windows version to stock but it didnt work... Thanks!
1. Try another SIM card;
2. If dropped(or sit on it), it could be the 2 metallic pins(bent) from motherboard to GSM antenna(locate on external case);
3. Hardware problem(rarely, but possible).
Other than that, no more ideas...
ok before you go replace the SIM card, do this:
1. Sometimes turning the wireless connections off and then back on will resolve the issue.
2. Power phone down and back up
3. Make sure that Windows didn't decide to deactivate your phone's radios (aka airplane mode)
scroll to the end and hit wireless controls and make sure wireless connections and phone are set to on.

Dear all,
I and my friend bought Samsung A8 a couple of days ago. We both are facing same call-drop issue.
We use BSNL prepaid SIMs and with default setting, whenever we change the mobile tower while talking, there is a squeaking digital noise and then the call drops. What I mean by default setting is, if you go Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode (BSNL in my case) > LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connecct).
I have tried many sorts of tweaks over this. First, I replaced my SIM card with a new one for no result.
Then, I found one curious behaviour. That is, if you put Mobile Networks to anything that has auto connect, you get this squeaking sound and call-drop. If you put the mode to *-only mode, the problem is no more! as far as I think this whole issue started after I have applied some update (don't know which, but now it is running the latest update and problem persists). Also, I have also tried complete reset to no avail. My phone has no apps other than the default ones.
I have been fed up with this issue to the core and thinking of changing the phone. Will you help me solve this issue?
Thanks,
Vivek
Call drop on Samsung Galaxy A8
Hi Vivek,
I have a exactly similar experience with A8. In the auto mode there can be 3G to 2g Ho and calls drop. But in locked mode of any of 2g or 3G , no problem.
Btw, which android version you are running?
Did it start after you installed any app?
Did you try to downgrade the firmware if you have the latest one?

Hello,
I have a TicWatch Pro 3 LTE Ultra and I got an e-SIM from my operator (Orange France). It works ok with one minor detail : it seems that the LTE connection only gets established if I turn flight mode on and then off...
E.g. test situation : watch is connected via BT. I turn off BT and Wifi on the watch, and the LTE connection does not start.
I turn on and off flight mode and voilà, LTE connection is established.
Other test situation : I left home for a footing and after a while realized the watch had not connected to LTE. Turned flight mode on and off, and voilà, LTE connection is ok.
Is it normal behavior? Do I miss a config parameter somewhere? If it is normal, the least I can say is that it is not seamless...
Thanks for any help,

Hey, I faced the same situation as you and after some investigation, I figured out what was the cause in my case - maybe it will help you too. I use two SIMs in my phone - the main one is from T-Mobile, the second one is from Orange. It turned out that if my Orange SIM card isn't set as default FOR THE PHONE CALLS, the watch does not switch to LTE automatically (at the same time in the Wear OS app the option of the watch LTE connection disappears). Interestignly, the options of default SIM card for SMS and for mobile internet don't play the key role here. Let's check if this helps in your case, if not, maybe do a factory reset.
Also I found out that it may behave differently on a different ROMs - when I switched ROM to the other one, LTE on my watch enables automatically irrespective of which SIM card is set as default.
Thanks a lot for answering so fast ! I knew there should be someone out there with an opinion ;-)
I do have 2 SIMs on my phone. One is Orange (e-SIM on the phone as well, BTW) and the other is Bouygues.
I tried to configure Orange as default for calls, ran the same test but did not see an improvement.
I'll test more and see if after restarting everything, it gets better.
Thanks again for the answer, I'll report back right here after more tests.
Also, what ROMs are you talking about, please? ROM for the watch? Which ROM do you use? I have the standard one...
Update from the morning, I had a notification on my watch saying that the e-Sim was activated" (which it was already), and now it seems that the LTE connection establishes itself when and as it should !!
Thanks a lot @Lord Sithek !

Update from the morning, I had a notification on my watch saying that the e-Sim was activated" (which it was already), and now it seems that the LTE connection establishes itself when and as it should !!

Oh wow, I was just writing an answer to you Im glad you got it working. By the way, I was talking about the custom ROM on my phone (Xiaomi Mi Note 10). It's strange, but since I switched to the other one (namely, OcatviOS) the issue is gone, even though I set T-Mobile SIM as the default for everything. I didn't find a key to this mystery yet, but good that it works now
One thing that I observed when I was facing your issue is that when the Orange SIM card wasn't set as default for phone calls, the option in the WearOS app that I marked in the screenshot attached disappeared. Whenever Orange was set as default, it was appearing again. Maybe that will be some kind of clue for you and other users in the future.
Cheers
Thanks! I have to say that the the various effects config parameters _on the phone_ have on the watch are less than clear to me... everything but intuitive...
