I am running Havoc OS 3.x but cannot charge and use otg at the same time, do I need a custom kernel or is this not supported on this phone
If your model has Charging Wireless (Qi/PMA), I think OTG should also work.

Hi,
About two weeks before, i had updated to marshmallow. Ever since, the OTG is virtually non functional with the handset not even detecting usb cards etc. I had tried turnaround the drive to FAT, fat32, NTSC etc and nothing seems to working. I used the otg checker app and it says that otg api is present but signal is absent.
How can i regain the otg functionality again?
Unfortunately I don't have a fix for you, but on the similar note. Worked for me after taking the OTA last night for 6.0. However it didn't work like it used to. Used to use file manager and go to the stick from there. This time when I plugged in the cable it just took a second then gave me the option to go to the flash stick I attached. Not sure if you got the official update or using the indian version that was posted. Just wanted to post to show that it does work and hope that someone with better knowledge than I can help you.
Working fine here.
Working fine here on the XT1572 dual sim.
I am having the same.problem as Iamronin, definately not recognizing my OTG Cable and memory stick. Worked before i updated to Marshmallow (the official version).
Any help would be appreciated.
**UPDATE**
I have just tried my friends OTG Flashdrive and that worked fine. I was trying to use a normal Flash Drive and a cable. I guess the cable is faulty as it doesn't seem to work with any of my phones!
YU yuphoria support otg cable
Anybody here
Strange.... !! for me its working awesome in MM. I can easily transfer files from here and there without using any 3rd party app.
My cable and pen drive work flawlessly on other devices, but my Moto X play does not recognize it. It works with a wireless keyboard receiver though. Any ideas on this?

This is the Moto X Pure Edition forum. Good for the Yuphoria.
Hello everyone,
In order enable USB OTG, I installed hadeskernel 2.6 , but lost wifi in process (due to incorrect modem), so I reverted back to stock kernel.
So is there any way to enable OTG without losing wifi or anything? I am on Marshmallow and my baseband is: A300FUXXU1CPH3
Thanks
Bump! I really need that too
Thakn you in advance
so my x720 has bad wifi. bought this from amazon: CableCreation USB-C(Type C 3.1) to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter, but it doens't work AICP which I currently flashed.
does anyone know of a combination of a ROM + ethernet USB-C adapter?
thx in advance.
btw, aicp on x720 seems very stable and smooth. thx!
If you will use RJ45 cable then why not just connect it via BT or USB-C tether to get internet connection?
The adapter you mentioned seems to be for a Macbook
Return the adapter you bought and get this one instead.

What is the issue that you are experiencing?
Which phone do you have?
What OS?
I agree with Joms_US you could just connect through BT. But why bother using a bandaid, when you could make work as intended instead.
As long as there is no hardware issue, your connection issue is caused by either your configuration or software. It could also be your router. But unlikely if everything else works okay. Its seems that you are just very likely using the wrong firmware.
thank both of you for the tips and help. what i have is x720+ aicp 13.1 from xdev. the wifi module seem to be dead (as I tried stocked rom as well). The usb tethering is graying out. the BT tethering, i am not sure howto make it to work though. Looks very much my hardware is toasted.
anyway, I will try the link above, and very likely will get the new oneplus 6.
have a nice weekend..

Don't give up yet, this is very likely something that can be fixed. As I mentioned previously you very likely have the wrong firmware. Go to the bottom of my post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/le-eco-pro-3-x727-twrp-backup-clean-t3727920
Download the firmware for your device : if its an X727 - download the X727 firmware and then boot to TWRP Recovery
Once in TWRP -
Click select storage and choose the local drive
Click Install button : From here, you'll be shown your device's internal storage folder tree: Go to SDcard > downloads > select the firmware you just downloaded
Swipe the slider at the bottom to flash the firmware
Go to wipe> Advanced wipe > Check Cache ( Cache only) Swipe
Reboot to Recovery- (Check any boxes to install TWRP manager IF you see them) > Reboot to system > issue should now be resolved
Another hint
Click the reply button for whoever you are talking to in these forums otherwise that person will never know that you responded unless they just happen to open the link again.
If this does not resolve the issue, there are other things to try.
On the stock Oreo I was able to access(read & write) my external drive or any usb drive by simply connecting the otg cable.
But now on any custom rom whether its Oreo or pie Its a headache.
I'm now on custom Pie rom
Someone pls assist me by getting otg support on this or any other custom rom.
Is there a way to port the files from Oreo stock rom which consist of command for Otg support?
I'm so desperate to get my otg enabled but I also don't want to leave this custom rom.
yes i'm have same problem.. i'm on lineageOS and i want to otg support.. hope somebody have solution..
Hello people!
I've been doing installation of custom ROM and any kind of configuration for a while now. But I have now in my hands a tough problem. My dad bought athene XT1640-DS (Moto G4 Plus), just like the one of mine own, but mine doesn't have the '-DS'.
But the device is stuck at Stock Android 6.0.1 and I can't update it.
The USB seems have some problem because any PC in my house recognize the 6.0.1 phone, but works fine with my up to date 8.1.0 athene, but it's charging only, and the turbo charging isn't working. the fingerprint isn't working neither.
It looks like the bootloader was unlooked, because everytime it's turned on shows the 'bootloarder unlock message'. But I was unable to root it, I tried all the one click root apps, but none of them worked.
It doesn't have any custom recovery, so I tried to update with the stock recovery but every OTA Blur Version rom that I found for athene shows a error telling that my ROM version isn't compatible with the updates (the ROM version code of this phone is MPJ24.139-23.1/ 1 user).
Anyone have any hints of what can I do to update this device?
Device XT-1640-DS
Android: 6.0.1
M8952_7000.04.03.32R
ATHENE_BRAZIL_DSDS_CUST
Kernel: 3.10.84-GCF01273

MPJ23.139-23.1
From what I know one click methods doesn't work with this device. You need a proper kernel for android 6.0 like elementalx 1.0. And supersu or magisk zip flashed through a recovery like TWRP.
Is there a way to update de kernel, or do that other things without PC and root?
Or a way to use adb without USB connection?
Have you tried fastboot flash methods like in this thread?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
So.. the big issue is that this device isn't connecting to the PC, it's charges, but neither the PC not the Android show any signs that their are connected. I can't use adb from the PC because I couldn't make the computer recognize the phone.
can you at least transfer files in mtp mode with the usb cable? because looks like the micro usb port is messed up.
If you are on warranty period you should go for it
I can't use the mtp neither. The only thing I can do is charge. And I'm out of warranty :/
