Some time ago my phone display broke. I ordered a new one that came recently. After replacing it, it turned out that the buttons below the screen do not work. Is it the fault of the display or the motherboard?

A few months ago the screen on my SPV M600 took a knock which cracked it pretty badly, to the point it couldn't be used. I've rebuilt two other HTC phones in the past so felt fairly happy buying and fitting a replacement screen myself, along with the fact Orange wanted well over £100 for repairing it!
I dismantled the phone back to the screen to find it had a gold LCD cable and bought a new one on eBay.
I've now tried fitting the screen which works perfectly when the phone is still appart, but when I put the casing back together the screen goes blank. The exact point it happens is when I'm clipping the side of the phone with the volume control into place. The screen gets very bright as if the backlight is either getting too much power from somewhere or the backlight setting isn't taking effect. If I set the backlight to minimum it's most noticable as it goes from dull to full brightness when I apply pressure between the screen and board on that side of the phone.
I've tried sliding a piece of card between the screen and board to see if there was something touching that shouldn't be, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
If anyone could offer me any advice on how to solve this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
I think I've solved it, I hadn't put a layer of the copper from the back of the old LCD onto the new one. It seems to be working fine now.
I am currently in discussions with the screen's vendor about the issue, but I figure somebody might have some advice to offer here too. I purchased a replacement screen for my Vogue after I cracked the factory LCD. Touch membrane was fine.
Opened the phone, pulled out the old LCD, replaced with new one, etc. At first, the "new" screen seemed to not power on at all - then after several cycles of open phone/test connections with old LCD/rebuild with new LCD I finally got the backlight on, yet the display itself seems to not be working. There is an ever so slight greenish glow in the bottom left corner of the replacement screen when the backlight was on.
Several hours later, during which time the phone just sat on my desk idle (but on) I hit the power button to turn on the screen and was dismayed that the backlight did not come on (simmilarly to how it was originally.) I am certain the phone was assembled correctly, all connections are secure, etc.
The vendor suggested adjusting brightness/contrast settings, which I skeptically tried to no avail with MyMobiler. So at this point, the backlight seems to work when it wants to and the display seems to not work well at all.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?
I had my evo's (003) touch screen die where the main screen didnt light up but the buttons did. I couldnt see anything on the phone but it did work and I could make calls with bluetooth etc.. SO, I took the phone into the store and they replaced the entire screen which includes the front buttons and side volume rocker etc.
HOWEVER, now the bottom buttons (home, back etc) do not work. Has anyone had this issue? Im taking it back for them to put ANOTHER screen on.. I did find this video of almost the same issue I am having:
Im wondering if other had this issue and if there might be a bad batch of replacement panels... The service tech told me I needed to hard reset to get the buttons working and I did and same issue....
Thanks....
I have had that happen before even white spots on screen and where it became unresponsive to touch locked up. Had it swapped out and the new one had the screen coming apart. Then the next one wasn't glued on right windex got on the lcd. Got my phone from Asurion and they sent me one with glue all over messed up charger port and the screen had 15 lines running str8 down the center.
I have no idea why but I believe there is a bad batch of panels still running around. Now I have a brand new 0004 evo Asurion gave me after I called and talked to them takes awhile to get through to someone. But worth the 100.
Sprint store always gave me refurbs with big issues always such as screen issues and broken volume button and camera issues.
My buds Droid 2 back light doesn't work anymore as well as the touch screen digitizer. Is the back light in the LCD itself or is that a seperate part? I told him I would fix it and I need to know what to order.
I'm having a similar issue, My wife got the phone wet, so we dried it out. That part went well....
Well she got a new phone, and I put the Droid 2 in a draw, and recently found it again, deciding to look it over, I charged it up, turn it on.
Here is what problems it has, No Backlight on the LCD display, No LED Nofication lights, No keyboard lights, No Digitizer touch.
The phone boots and works, sounds work, OS is intact and under a flashlight I can see the screen.
my question is does the ribbon cable control all of these? or are the seperate problems?
Hi all ,So the story goes is I had my cracked screen replaced by my insurance 2 months ago. My new screen was fine up until a few week ago when this started happening..

Basically when I press hard on the top right of the screen I get ghost touches all over the screen. It also happens all the time when I use a case because of the pressure on the top right part of my screen.
I noticed that I can get my fingernail in between the 2 parts of the phone on the side. I really don't want to go a month without my phone again so I'm reluctant to send it off to insurance. Has anyone had this problem? Should I try a phone repair shop? Does this happen if a screen isn't fitted properly or is it another problem? Thanks
Seems like a faulty digitizer
More info... The screen works fine when I press it normally. It only goes crazy and when I press slightly harder or if there is a case on
