Android Radio doesn't work in background - Android Head-Units

I have a 10' Seicane Android 10 head unit for Toyota Hiace. The unit works quite good but has an issue with Radio stopping playing when an Android app like Google Chrome is started. The settings in the unit is very scarse. I downloaded an app that allows access to hidden settings and I allowed Radio to work in background (not managed for battery optimisation). The app stays open, I can switch to it and it starts playing again but it stops playing as noon as I change to Google Chrome again.

I have the same issue. I have to leave radio app open to listen to radio. Cant even go to Navigations.

Nougat just ruined bluetooth on this phone

So I guess I was spoiled with last version of android because for me with that last version, I could reasonably easily install android auto, have it start playing when I got into my truck, have it stop as soon as bluetooth disconnected etc. Predictable in other words.
Since the upgrade... bluetooth is... just bad. Selects one of many music apps at random apparently to open when I connect to bluetooth... And apparently likes to just sit and lag like 5 seconds before it realizes its no longer connected... so I have music blasting out of my phone when I get out of the car.
Removing all pairing information and resetting wireless connection info and re-pairing didnt resolve anything at all for me.
Any one else experiencing the same thing?
I had wacky issues with multiple 3rd party music apps (rocket player, amp) and found that only Samsung Music and Play Music were at all reliable when interoperating with my car via BT or my various BT headphones.
Same behavior KK/MM, haven't bothered trying the 3rd party stuff since getting N.
Currently I only have Play Music on my phone and it works fine in all use-cases.
So, I don't so much think it's the BT so much as it's the other apps and how well they do or do not integrate and behave with the system.
I"d advise paring your system down to one music player and testing and working up from there. PITA, to be sure.
I use power amp with no issues
I typically use Android auto and Pandora... But it's definitely considerably less predictable. I manually installed qa6 prior to being officially available. Is it possible that this could be the reasoning?
Earlier today turning off the car the music playing didn't ever stop when what I've noticed is I get like 5-10 seconds after car shuts off.
There have been issues with Bluetooth on some devices after the update. Sometimes a factory reset fixes the issue, but not always.
My Bluetooth has always been stupid when it comes to Android in general, I'll be last listening to Spotify and when I hop in my car my phone will start playing the last podcast I was listening too instead (even though that app was killed and not running anymore) or it will start up Play Music which I haven't used for days instead, sometimes it will connect right back to what I was last using but most of the time, even before this update, it would randomly pick some other app that streams over Bluetooth instead. Needless to say, I never had this happen with my iPhone when I had it, no idea why Android is so wonky when it comes to this stuff
I have no issues with BT and connect to about a half-dozen devices regularly including AA in my car. If you use Smart Switch or other method of restoring apps used by AA they won't work. You have to uninstall them and reinstall them manually. That isn't Nougat related it was the same way with Marshmallow. I learned the hard way when I went through two Note7's to end up with a S7 Edge.

I use Spotify with Adroid Auto with no issues since getting N. I have connected to two BT 4.0 devices and a 4.1. As another poster mentioned, it could be the apps you are using, but I think it has more to do with qa6. If you manually updated, there is always a risk. I love hacking my phone, but there is always an accepted risk. Best bet is probably a factory reset and/or rolling back your update (if possible) to allow the automatic update take effect.
When I am talking in my truck via Blue Tooth since the update it will randomly drop the connection. It seems to work fine with my Earbud (PLT_E50) though.
the main issue I've seen... music playing does not stop when my head unit turns off anymore. Thinking the early released OTA nougat qa6 was what I was running and that may somehow be different than what att actually sent out, I fully wiped, reverted back to pk1, let it do the att upgrade to qa6.
This morning, I noticed the exact same thing... its pretty good about start playing when I get in the truck and it connects to bluetooth etc... it just doesnt turn off for a LONG time after blue tooth device is turned off.

Android head unit for Mitsubishi Lancer

Good morning, forum.
I bought a Quad Core Android Head unit for my Lancer a couple of months ago in Aliexpress and I just love it. However there are a couple of things I would change or I would like to understand better.
First of. I did see there are some subforums for this topic but I'm not really sure on what kind of unit (technically speaking) this is, so I apologize if this is not the correct sub-forum.
Pretty much what I have problems with, is the following:
Whenever I turn on my car, the radio app pops up by default, and that's cool, but what I don't like is that it goes to a random frequency I have nothing stored on and it's pure noise until I change it to a stored station, and I would like it to open up a stored station by default.
Another thing is that I move the EQ but whenever I turn car off and back on, the EQ settings do not remain where I left them, they're not being saved. Saved stations remain in their pressets, wallpapers in the head unit remain, but the EQ settings reset themselves.
I would like to know there's a way to "default" the radio station or preset for whenever the radio app runs and to "default" settings in the EQ or have it saved, or if there's any other radio app I can use with my head unit.
This is it:

Hi, I'm using Lancer as well, and bought the same android like urs, just that mine is v4.4.2 (kitkat), urs is v5 (Lollipop). So to answer your question.
1. Same like mine, but eventually the EQ setting will stick after a few times of resetting everytime my car starts
2. The radio is a bit troublesome, the steering control, instead of changing to the next preset channel, it scans the next frequency, so I just downloaded another radio alternative, which is much better to customize, and also it will pop up the Radio Channel/Frequency if ur on a different screen.
Hey, thanks a lot for the answer!
What radio app didn't you download? I would like to give it a try.
Thanks in advance!

You can try using this 3rd party radio app
https://drive.google.com/drive/fold...FaWXVCMzhUTGxTd2djczVyQkV0VjBKRzg?usp=sharing
Or try to flash it to IQNavi, it's way much cooler and nicer.

My last shot at Joying

So you might know from other threats, that I own 2 Joying Headunits.
Both of them have very annoying Problems/bugs:
Both of them have the "I delete all contacts" bug if connected via bluetooh. This is really annoying. Especially if you don't know about the bug... just imagine all your contacts suddenly gone. Hopefully you have them on google as well so you can restore them. But if you don't.... great... everything is gone.
One Device (a PX5 with 2GB Ram und 32 GB Rom - which does not reveice the Oreo Update for whatever reason) is apparently not powerful enough to have DAB+ running without any stuttering. I tried all of @realzoulzou app versions (which are obviously great) but all of them stutter - even if they are running solo in the foreground. I found by chance an app which runs smoothly in the foreground, but NONE - i repeat NOT A SINGLE APP - runs smoothly in the background. DAB is therefore no real option if I want navigation or anything like this. Oh and since we are talking radio... the stock radio app now suddenly decided to quit whenever my navigation software (Waze) is announcing anything. I can get it back to playing radio only by switching to to radio app and then back to waze.... well then it will play again until Waze is telling my anything like "next turn left". This is also extremely annoying.
My other device has the strangest behaviour ever (i will try to get it replaced) It actually works fine. DAB works, radio works - ok there is the "LET ME DELETE ALL YOUR F******** CONTACTS" issue. But you know what - right now i wouldn't even count that.... the by far stranger thing is - that it works fine until after an hour or so.... if i try to play any digital audio (like an mp3 from the sd card or DAB Radio or a stream, lets say spotify) there is hiss/scratching - just like a bad old radio - if i switch to FM Radio, it is crystal clear (decent reception given). Oh and if i call someone with the bluetooth app - I can't hear a thing over all the hissing etc.
I'd say you would all agree on my opinion that THIS SUCKS.
Now I will try to get the 2nd unit exchanged as i bought it via ebay germany. But the first i bought via Aliexpress - so i guess they will not replace the unit.
So I asked Joying what I can do and they told me that I could replace my Board on my own cost so i would have oreo and hopefully enough power to have smooth DAB.
Now I wanted to ask you guys. What do you think? Should I try this?

Thanks for reading my rant. But I am at my end here.

Please help :,) seicane HF series

Hi all,
I have a seicane hf 235 (MTCE_HF_v3.30_1) that I'm having issues with
It's the 4gb ram 64gb rom with the Cortex A53 octa core processor on android 9
My issue is it keeps freezing in apps, especially when I'm using android auto from my phone.
I'm utilizing a car play dongle plugged into USB so I can use android auto with my galaxy s20 ultra. The radio keeps freezing every couple of hours or less in use and it gets stuck on a part of whatever music I am listening to and just repeats itself very fast. The only way to fix it is to pull over and shut my car off and wait a minute or two.
It freezes the entire radio and my GPS stops working as well.
The radio also randomly disconnects from my phone while it's plugged in via USB and I'm using car play. It boots back to the main car play screen where it says "please plug in the device" but it won't pick my phone back up until I restart the car.
It also freezes if I'm streaming music over YouTube music app while connected to my phone wifi hot spot. So I know it isn't just a car play issue.
Any updates you guys recommend or any fixes I can try?
The freezing has gotten worse as of late and the radio has become almost unusable because I know it's going to freeze every time I use it.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Firewall/AdBlocker/VPN for Android HUs? Other privacy tools?

I have just installed my first Android HU (Dasaita PX6). wondering what steps other have taken with any of these aside from using a junkmail google account? what other apps do you use to protect and monitor?
No one else has thought about this? Just got mullvad working on my dasaita, but I'm new to all this. Wondering whether a firewall app is a good idea in addition
One thing to know is that some Android HUs don't allow lock passwords/patterns etc. I have a TEyes SPro and when I tried to do that, I could not get back in...it never would accept the PIN I had just set.
I use OpenVPN client to connect to my home router which has firewalls, ad blockers, etc
I also have a screen lock app set up that starts when my unit starts. I don't use sleep mode so it restarts each time I get back in my car. The sleep can be an issue for restarting apps as some go to sleep or are removed from memory. If you want something to work from sleep mode, you'll have to dig around on your own.
The app I'm using is this one:
Fireflies lockscreen - Apps on Google Play
A beautiful lock screen with Fireflies live wallpaper theme for Android devices.
play.google.com
There are many similar ones. You should try different ones until you find one that is to your liking. The only thing I hoped would be better was that there are a few seconds before the lock app starts. No big deal, though.
Not sure if the above applies to your unit. My SPro is an FYT sc9853i 4/64 model.
