[Guide][Steps][KITKAT] Installing cyanogenmod 11 M7 on Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100)

Well, I know there are lot of helpful guides out there on how to install cyanogenmod but not everybody gets what he's looking for. I recently searched a lot of sites, forums, and lot of xda posts for installing cyanogenmod 11 M7. And i finally found few posts that helped me.
With these posts one can get an idea about how to flash a kernel, how to back up the data, and how to flash a custom ROM on a S2. Pretty helpful...isn't it? All thanks to these guys - @avirk , @-Grift- @banjara @Vivek_Neel @Phil3759 .
The steps might fit correct for some.. where there might be some variations for others. I myself didn't find some steps from the guide i followed while backing up my data. But still.. i went for it. And it was good enuf.
So here are the steps that i followed... n i think which might help some one like me out there.
First of all. as they say.. If anything goes wrong. I'm not responsible. If everything goes right.. well..Thank you then.

Where are /format system and /format preload??? If you are on 4.1.2 stock you need to do a full wipe.
Flash latest philz kernel in stock recovery, then reboot into recovery again(hold 3 buttons) and flash latest Philz CWM Touch recovery(6.0.4.8!). Then do a full wipe and flash a custom rom and gapps.

I Agree with Zile.
I installed Cyano with similar steps and I finished with an useless phone with system partition full.
format system and preload are mandatory moving from stock to cyano in my opinion.

What happened with me was.. i didn't find the preload thing while making my backup.
So i missed some steps from the guide which i followed. I'll be trying it again when cm11 m8 will be out.
May be that time i can find the preload section.

You can link your above post for the link to the GApps section in the OP, then you'll not get other questions as to the link for GApps.... Also, as said by @Zile995, it is better if you include formatting system and preload too in your guide as not doing so may cause issues and doing so is the best way to full wipe your system for fresh flashing without issues...
And yes...Great work.... :good:
hi
i did every step of your procedures (more times) and the result is the same!!
when the phone starts all the google processes crash and it is impossible to do anything...
If I install the Cyano 10.1 everything is fine...
What can I do????
Any tried this on SHW-M250K model? Is it even compatible?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can I boot into system after installing 03.06.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.06.1 and later install new rom?
Would any of you guys be able to help me (a rookie when it comes to this) with these Q's in my thread about CyanogenMod?
This thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/stock-rom-to-cyanogenmod-import-sms-t2903491
Btw, isn't it easiest to acquire CyanogenMod by using the CyanogenMod Installler for the i9100?

Never had this problem bud. I installed M9 in the same way but google process failures were never encountered.
I'm afraid i might not be of any use here but would suggest one thing that stick to 10.1 till u find an answer to this.

I guess it should be ok to boot into the system because you'd be installing the recovery and if the recovery is compatible with the ROM and won't give any problem then you can. But still.. always take a second opinion before you try because... even I'm a learner.

[Q&A] [RECOVERY][All-F2FS] TWRP-2.7.0.0 with All-F2FS support [11/03/14]

Q&A for [RECOVERY][All-F2FS] TWRP-2.7.0.0 with All-F2FS support [11/03/14]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [RECOVERY][All-F2FS] TWRP-2.7.0.0 with All-F2FS support [11/03/14]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Following this procedure my data partition is still in ext4. Maybe because i have used the last TWRP 2.8.1.0 (f2fs should be supported) and not the modified one? Solutions? Thanks
I Think I Messed Up
I was trying to do this, but the ROM I was using failed to work. Stupidly, I wiped the device completely to see if re-copying the .zip would fix anything. The problem is, I now have no bootable OS's, so I cannot copy anything to the Nexus 7 (2012 model). I do have TWRP 2.6.3.1 installed, if that helps at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I actually had one idea, so please let me know if it would work. I know that the Nexus 7 can read USB flash drives through the help of a cable that connects to the normal microSD port. Would that help me to resolve my issue? If so, I could buy one and have it within a few days.
Nevermind, I was able to fix it on my own by using the Android Dev tools (fastboot specifically).
Can someone please advise? I accidentally deleted all of my data and got stuck the Google loading screen. I'm trying to adb sideload the rom(provided in op) to reflash and I get stuck at "Starting adb sideload feature". Any advise would appreciated!
Hi, am new to F2FS and rarely stray from the norm so hoping I can find the answers here.
Current setup is 4.4.4 (Spirt ROM) as main with a multiboot of 4.4.3 (CM10) to play PvZ2.on my tilipia with stock kernals.
Using latest TWRP 2.8.2.0 is it possible and as simple as:
-Convert partitions to F2FS within TWRP
-Flash 4.4.4 as main ROM
-Flash 4.4.3 as second ROM
Or do you still have to convert each ROM zip to F2FS?
Is everything fully F2FS compatible now TWRP 2.8 has F2FS or is there anything else that needs flashing?
Is there any windows script to convert the ROMs or is it only the app from the store? (found a script in the grouper thread but didnt mention tilipta but still reading)
Sorry for the questions, just making sure I dont mess up. F2FS sound like it will give quite a boost!

Have you tried reformatting all partitions back to ext, reboot recovery then adb sideload?
Code:
adb sideload path\to\rom.zip
Ive done the accidental delete several times and this always got me a ROM back up and running before transferring all my data back

Hey thanks for the reply. I actually got back up and running late last night by sideloading a different F2FS rom. For some reason the ROM suggested in the OP won't boot on my n7.
Commands Please
Great instructions!!!!... What are the commands used to execute each step?
•Copy a ROM with "All-F2FS" support to your N7
•Copy GApps to your N7
•Copy FormatPartitions.zip to your N7
•Reboot in bootloader
•Flash this recovery with Fastboot (Maybe Flashify works too)
•Reboot in new recovery
•Flash FormatPartitions.zip
•Reboot recovery (It's needed for some reasons..)
•Flash ROM
•Flash GApps
•Go to Wipe Menu and Format Data (Not a simple wipe)
•Reboot
•Done.
For example:
•Flash this recovery with Fastboot (Maybe Flashify works too)
Type fastboot flash recovery AllF2FS.img
@exeleon, after you format data, will not ask for password.

Use Nexus Root Toolkit, connect to device and flash the recovery image. After that, for the remaining steps, you need to use the recovery soft.

yes, it did ask for a password once I got it to boot up. Hold down the power button until your n7 turns off, boot back into recovery and factory reset, clear caches and reboot and you should be fine... worked for me! let us know how it goes.

tip for dualbooters
Hi,
try its a test , i assume you know what you do with your device, if you dualboot, you know that !
For this tweak, on your good 2nd rom , install Nandroid Manager from Store :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.bkrestore
tweak details:
if you have a good running lollipop on 1rst rom, then flash your DorimanX kernel with TWRP or ODIN, reboot DorimanX recovery and using it, make a nandroid of your 1rst lollipop rom.
- NOW, with DorimanX kernel, reboot and run your KitKat or JB 2nd rom and ,
- copy nandroid backup from clockworkmod folder on device (int or ext card) to PC ("omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" for example) .
- from this nandroid, make an another safe copy in another folder of your PC.
- from folder named "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55"
- with 7zip , open system.ext4.tar.a and delete all things except build.prop in /system/. close system.ext4.tar.a.
- with 7zip , open data.ext4.tar.a and
in data/data , delete :
com.andrew.apollo
com.bel.android.dspmanager
com.svox.pico
jp.co.omronsoft.openwnn
net.nurik.roman.dashclock
all folder with :
org.omnirom.*
com.android.*
com.cyanogenmod.*
delete contents in data/dalvik-cache/*
delete contents in data/users/*
you can try to clean some other folders if you want.
then close data.ext4.tar.a
- now, copy "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" from PC to your device, in same folder as original.
- reboot your 2nd rom again
- run nandroid manager and find your "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" in list of backups and tick it
- launch MD5 buton on screen and choose "generate MD5". When done, reboot recovery.
wait for new lollipop build.......
when , one day, one lollipop build appears (CM12 ALPHA, OMNI or CodeRom), then
- with DorimanX recovery, restore the modified nandroid backup "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" on your 1rst rom.
- then , go in mount and storage Menu, follow "mount /system" and go to "format system" partition.
- flash the NEW LOLLIPOP Build ROM now and enjoy to find your DATA APPs from precedent LOLLIPOP BUILD INSTALLED.
thanks

boot.img-5.0-20141202-i9100-HOMEMADE.rar - 5.86 MB
So all those using Omni latest build(20141202) by asimovi..use these 2 files :
CWM Flasher : http://d-h.st/qD6
Omni Recovery : http://d-h.st/rdH
YOU DO NOT NEED TO EDIT THE FILES FOR 20141202 OMNI 5.0 BUILD!!
have also added files for Bugatty build...check the 2nd post of the thread

that is problem of rom by asimovi...download the build by bugatty
The guide has been updated and is now working for all Lollipop roms...even CM12 now
Now the method is very simple...everything can be done on phone...no need to copy replace files in winrar etc

Will this work on 5.0.1 build? As the only way I can dual boot is if I backup l rom when I change from kk I have to restore l.

[GUIDE] Proper way to upgrade to Lollipop. Fixed repartitioning and TRIM

I'll start from the beginning, as if you had just bought the phone. Custom 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 should also be fine.
0) Update to last official 4.1.2 JB to avoid any oddity with older android versions (such has SuperBrick bug)
1) Root the phone if you didn't already
2) Backup (if needed):
programs with Titanium
messages with SMS Backup & Restore
EFS partition
3) Move all your data and backups to external storage (SdCard, USB OTG, computer)
Repartition (from recovery)
Install a decent recovery (TWRP is also good)
Boot into recovery and flash one of the provided zips. Personally I used the one you can find in the bottom of this post.
Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, Data, emmc (Internal Storage) and System
Repartition (from Odin)
Download Odin 1.85 (drivers)
Download 768 MB small preload .pits. I personally use the 6GB version but de gustibus
Download last tar.md5 of PhilZ Touch recovery ¹
Open Odin, put the PIT file in the namesake and the kernel in PDA
Press start and wait.
Boot into recovery and enter make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 command in adb shell
4) Download latest TRIM-FPBug kernel by Lanchon for CM12.1 on i9100²
5) Flash CM 12.1 with the same build number
6) Flash the previously downloaded kernel and gapps (avoid anything above mini)
7) (optional) Update to latest baseband
8) (optional) After first boot, force TRIMming
doesn't work results in brick. but recoverable.
Thanks!
Only one question,
...
4) Latest TRIM-FPBug kernel by Lanchon for CM12.1 on i9100
- Found Kernel-Lanchon-TRIM-FPBug-20150824-cm-12.1-i9100.zip
5) Flash CM 12.1 With the same build number
- I have not found the same build, will work with cm-12.1-20150831-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip build?
...
Thanks!
Best Regards.

Oh.. sorry. XDA didn't automatically subscribed me to the thread.
I see the problem.. and well, I don't know the answer.
I guess I overestimated Lanchon capability to keep up with new nightlies.
Couldn't you try regardless?
I mean, if it doesn't work you just need to reflash the original rom zip
Thanks @mirhl, I'll try tomorrow.
:good:
I have a i9100T (i777) motherboard with Lanchon CrossKernel and now I installed CM 12.1 for i9100.
How can I replace the Cyanogen Recovery with the CWM? I also saw a I9100T motherboard but now it show on boot i9100 logo, that CWM should I put ? That for i9100 or I9100T ? Thank you
