I have Bluetooth headphones, which use a single button press to for pause/play. Unfortunately these buttons trigger quite easily on their own and there doesn't seem to be an app from the vendor to change the button mapping.
Is there a way on the Android side to disable those media controls?

Has anybody found a program that can reassign the pick-up and hang-up buttons on the XDA II headset? It would be really nice if we could assign one of these buttons to "Next Track" on Windows Media Player. It would even be better if the program would switch the buttons back to the default behavior if the phone application becomes active (when the phone rings).
yeah but as far as i know the headset buttons are hardwired to the pickup buttons on the phone and those cant be changed by any software
Hi,
Are you supposed to be able to control the volume from the earphones on the HTC Touch HD? I have my headphones plugged in and when playing music every time I press the button on the earphones it does nothing, or if I press and hold the button it tries to voice dial. Although the button seems to toggle I cant see anyway of adjusting the volume.
You cant. You can use a bluetooth A2DP headset which usually has its own volume control (not remote control for the winmo "mixer") but then you'll sadly get worse sound quality
When I click on the middle button (play/pause) of a 3-button headset it always pulls up the phone call log. How do I cause it to play/pause the active music app? I tried using "Headset Button Controller" and assigned the specific music app to the middle button, but that didn't change the behavior.
I'm currently using playerpro which I love but can't find an answer to track selecting using volume up/down. It doesn't work within playerpro, neither does jays sound control or Physical button music control under Xposed.
I did use Gravitybox which worked but it messed up volume control settings. Basically notification volume changed to alarm volume. No idea why but needs fixing.
So how can I change tracks using volume up/down on my phone and headphones when the screen is off?
I can't get the button on a Bluetooth headset to properly control Google Play Music. The single button play/pauses correctly but double clicking doesn't skip to the next track. I've tried several apps from the app store (Headset Button Controller, Headset Control Tester, JAYS Headset Control, Smart Key, even Poweramp media player) to fix the issue none of them worked.
I'm not sure if those apps aren't compatible with the latest version of Android or if there's another Android service that's intercepting the bluetooth button clicks/commands. The Headset Button Controller app has a debug mode that's supposed to display a message detailing the command every time the button is clicked, which is similar to the entire purpose of the Headset Control Tester app. Neither app recognizes or displays anything when I click the button, the HBC FAQ says that could be because another app is instead taking the commands instead.
It's unsuccessful in Safe Mode as well, so if anything it's a default Android service that's causing this issue.
Does anyone have a bluetooth headset and have button controls working properly on 7.1.1?
Thank you
Edit: Actually, after restarting (and/or disabling the Google Play Music app) I can get the button click to be registered by the Headset Control Tester app (aka log). But it only registers single button clicks (as an ACTION_DOWN and ACTION_UP), double clicking the button (which produces a beep over the speakers) doesn't show up at all in the log.
on my headset I do a long press on volume up or down to skip songs... works on nougat
