I'm hoping that this will be something easy. I just had to replace my old phone, a Samsung SM-J320 which bit the dust (black screen, appears to be a hardware problem). I just bought a sm205U (used/reconditioned - what I could afford) which works far better than the old one.
I have read that the phone has FM receive capability, but it has to be turned on. Does anyone know how to do this? I really don't need to root the phone and it's factory unlocked... I'd like to get that feature working too.
Thanks!

I've been experiencing the intermittent "No GSM" problem, and I'm pretty sure it's the mainboard (it started after I dropped the phone). Already opened the phone a few times / reflashed Radio etc...
Does somebody know where can I find a board for a HTC TyTN (Hermes 200) on the internet?
Thanks for the help!
i would be interested in this too
Maybe you could consider buying one with a cracked screen or so from eBay, just in case you can't figure out where to get a complete mainboard from...

I've considered that, but than I have the risk of having a bad motherboard as well. I'd prefer to get a new one as a replacement part. I did that in the past with the D-PAD controller and had success with it. Can't find a motherboard anywhere thou... Any ideas? Help!!
Motherboard
Hey there.. I too want a new motherboard.. I dropped my 8525 and the speaker, left side of the keypad and SD card slot stopped functioning. I took off the cover and reconnected the speaker..even lifted the MB off..But still with the same problem except that the speaker works and that the Unit gets very hot near the SD slot...I surfed and surfed without any finds of a MB..
So any ways broke out the Wizard for awhile , dug deep down and just bought a Kaiser ( the real one from HTC ).....
So any else have any clue at all on how to get a Hermes MB?...

i'm iterested too
I am in a different position. I NOW HATE THESE UNITS LIKE POISON
I have three 8225s which I am getting really sick of constantly reflashing and finding out that something doesnt work, whatever it is.
Sometimes it is the whole screen going white eight times our of ten boots, sometimes NO GSM, sometimes it flashes properly and runs properly, starts up with all GSM numbers showing correctly and then goes into its configuration cycle only to end up with NO GSM on reboot or some kind of freeze.
I want to know where I can get rid of these things: I am in New York. Is the only place to try them on ebay? Might involve a considerable (not worthwhile) learning curve?
Has anyone had any luck contacting other flashers on craigslist? Or is there a place on this forum where I can get rid of them for a reasonable price?
I also have a few Wizards (as well as a working Wizard G4 main board) and a Blue Angel which has NEVER worked properly in the 4 years since I Have had it. However with persistence and playing around while doing other things (like watching TV), I DO have it finally working properly on all functions and have given it to my offspring. The sheer amount of playing around with it to get it working properly has convinced me that it definitely wont be worthwhile trying to get the Hermes' to work!
Oh and I forgot to mention.....

In addition to all this, I use most regulatly a Wing. A few years ago I broke the screen and HTC sent me a new chassis for whatever reason. When I switched screens, the unit with the slightly broken screeen worked, it just had a chip like break at the top corner. I could still use it. Recently I put the battery back in and hey presto! it now doesnt work at all
So what happened to the working one? The battery pins on it stopped 'pinging' today, which I take to mean that the connections no longer work. The unit suddenly stopped working on putting the battery back in it.
So who needs a few Wing chassis as well??

Heading should be whole load of units, mostly working, to get shot of.
Hello. I want to start off and say that even tho i used a lot of phones Samsung fits me bets. With that in mind i want to tell the story of my broken s4 i9505. I bought it new and used it about 2 years until i got and iphone 5s. The phone remaind in a drawer with the intention of selling some time but forgot about it, then i used the phone once a week or so paired with moto 360 because iphone could not connect and used the watch only for time .(bluetooth worked fine remember this). Anyway i decided to sell it and i had all my apps and accounts in there so i thought the fastest way was to factory reset it and make it fresh so i can sell it (rom was not stock at the moment, i have no ideea what rom it was). I sold it to a friend that told me he wanted to pair something with it thru bluetooth and bluetooth didnt work...i sayd that it wasnt possible because all i did was a factory reset and that couldn't damage anything. Things got worse as the phone was charging very very slow and if it got over 90% baterry would not respond to anything (red led at 90% and got to green when full but still no response from phone) and the only thing to do is to remove battery. Then i took the phone back, got it a new battery but that didn't changed anything, took it to some repairs shops that didn't ever hear about this problem, i had it chance the software but that didn't do anything. The problem i suspect it is and i saw a few other posts online was the bluetooth module would stop working for some reason and do this to the phone. Currently i don't know what to do with it and i don't want to sell it just for part for 50 euros or so. Also i read that the bluetooth module can't really be changed as a spare part because it's part of the motherboard and that means almost all the phone. Phone is in mint condition, i didn't damage it before the sell , the buyer didn't damage it or messed with the rom...Another thing i noticed is that in settings under bluetooth address says unavailable. Can someone please help me ? I can provide more information about serials and stuff if needed. Also wi-fi doesn't work now.
Mine also show unavailable under Bluetooth address, but it works.
Are you currently on the stock rom?
Yes is stock. Android version 5.0.1 I9505XXUHOJ2. If i toggle bluetooth on says starting bluetooth then after 5 seconds it disables. I guess the problem is from hardware not software. So fast battery drain is not normal something is using a lot of energy.
As far as I know, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules are in the same physical chip, therefore something might be physically broken. Here's a clip I came across while trying to fix my phone's Wi-Fi and I think it's exactly what might fix yours. (Should be very cheap to do too.) I think basically what he's doing is putting some flux on the board then reflowing it with the hot air gun.
Before taking that step, be sure to exhaust the possible software fixes. I'm not sure, but updating the bootloader and modem MIGHT fix it.
My wi-fi started working again it just took a while but the bluetooth does exactly the same as in the clip so maybe that's the problem. I don't understand why does so glue over it make it work...also for me it's hard to turn the phone off because the screen goes black but the blue led still stays on and the only way to turn it off completly is to take out battery. Maybe this will solve the battery problem aswell ?
Hello, guys.
Several days ago I bought HD2 with cracked screen, also stuck in Android bootloop (some Cyanogenmod ROM)
I don't even planned to make it work normally, planned to use it as spare parts for another HD2, but after reflash to a stock 3.14 - it booted up normally.
But Wi-Fi is dead, it simply doesn't turn on.

Anyway, I will replace display module as soon as it arrive to me.
So, does anyone have suggestions? Something tells me, it's a HW problem, not SW. Now device is dissasembled.
And there is no visible damage near Broadcom chip or somewhere else. No corrosion, no cracks, no overheating marks. Nothing.
Bluetooth is working normally, despite it's the same IC.
Any help is appreciated...

could be something regarding to your wifi antenna in your housing, the connector to it, or coaxial cable to the mainboard
I just got a new S8 (SM-G950F) running the latest OTA update. I tried to use Android Pay earlier this week and it didn't work but it was at a new restaurant and the checker said she'd never done that before so I chalked it up to a problem with the POS system. Yesterday, I tried to pair the phone with my clock radio and that didn't work. I've got a case on it that adds 1-2mm on the back so I took off the case and the radio recognized it right away. Then I tried the same thing with my Yubikey and with the same result (nothing with the case on and works with the case off). For comparison, my S7 would trigger for payment and my clock radio before even touching it to the surface of the machine and it's got a case with just as much thickness. I even had a problem where if I held my phone close to my pocket where my Yubikey was, it would trigger it. I'd guess I had a range of 0.5" - 1" (1-2cm) beyond the back of the case with the S7.
First, I'd like to know if there is a hw problem with my phone so I can return it if necessary. Second, if not, has anyone found a solution for this?
Thanks in advance.
1. I had to replace the screen a little while ago. All went well except that I damaged my on/off switch button and I need to replace it. I'd also like to replace the volume pushbutton as I bent, but, was able to this one back in shape. The on/off button is held in place by a piece of tape.
I can find replacement buttons for the moto g4, but, the picture looks to be different than what I remember. It is confusing that they have several phones with such a similar name. I also know that many online places don't necessarily even use the correct picture for the specific item on sale to begin with.
I did find an official motorola online forum where they just said that phone has no user repairable parts. I guess I'm a technician/user then and need a replacement part. I never did figure out how to log in to that forum to try to get an answer or even part number.
I managed to damage the part when removing it, but, I imagine they would survive pretty much everything else the might destroy a phone. I haven't really been able to find any listing of very broken ones either.
Any help?
2. I also notice that while playing music via bluetooth to my car stereo that sometimes there is some noise. It sort of sounds like you would get if a potentiometer needs cleaning or the output jack has dirty contacts or gets jostled. Then I remember there are no wires and no potentiometers involved in this situation.
I did read somewhere that this is just a problem with that phone and there is no fix. I get it, it is basically a throw away phone, but, is this really the case. Was this an issue, was their a fix? and/or is there a way to get a replacement that doesn't have this problem or some way to upgrade to another model that doesn't have this issue more affordable?
