how do i remove app shortcut
the remove button disappear if i disable google search on homescreen
Drag the shortcut all the way up the screen until it turns red.
That will delete the shortcut.

Hi,
I have recently installed iLauncher which has removed the Google search bar widget from the top of the home screen. I am also aware that other launchers like nova can do this.
However, I am still unable to figure out how to remove the same google search bar that appears when I enter the app switcher (recent apps). This app switcher being what appears when you press the right hand side square button at the bottom of the screen on the home screen, where you can close the apps you have running.
I have no clue how to remove the search bar from here and it is very annoying, as it is on the switcher but not on my home screen and I do not want it on either.
I have included screenshots of my home screen and the switcher so you see what I mean.
Thanks.

It depends on the custom ROM you're running, most custom ROM's have their own settings menu to configure options that are usually not found in AOSP. You have to search there and see if there's a menu for recent apps and the option to show or hide search on recent apps should be there.
Xposed and GravityBox is always an option

I am not running a custom ROM though, just stock marshmallow with a different launcher installed.
Is there really no way to remove the search bar from recent apps?
You can do either of the above or request the launcher dev to include it. That's 3 options, just for you.
Nova Launcher allows this to be removed
Hi all,
is there any possibility to remove the shortcuts (not uninstalling) from system apps on the screens?
Tried google without any success (only led me to "remove bloatware blah blah").
If I long press and hold eg. settings shortcut the phone says "System app. No uninstallation" on top
of screen.
Edit: Stupid me - should learn to RTFM and understand english.
Cheers,
Christian
Get a 3rd party launcher that supports hiding apps
You have to make a zoom out gesture on your homescreen and you can hide apps there.
here's a video https://youtu.be/P7JYGeSF7hg?t=49
My friend has two messages icons on his home, and we haven't been able to remove one of them since it says that it's a system app and it cannot be removed. Any easy fix instead of installing another launcher?
Disabling one in settings -> apps ?
After installing a 3rd party launcher such as Apex or Nova on my Fire HD 10 2017, there is an icon in the app drawer named "Connect to Goodreads". The icon is just the word "fire" in big orange letters. The app info shows "Device Setup version 1.0.312.2_4040710". Opening the app prompts to create or connect to a Googreads account. This item does not appear in the Fire Lancher
I would like to remove/disable this item from the app drawer. Does anyone know how? It seems like it might be tied to com.amazon.kindle.otter.oobe.
I know I can "hide" it in the app drawer in Nova or Apex, but I'd prefer to eliminate it if possible.
In Nova launcher you can go into the app settings>Apps & Widget Drawers>scroll down to hide apps
From there you can choose to hide apps you don't want to see.
Edit: Just saw you know you can hide it.
