Could someone please help.
I've just updated from KK 4.4.4. to Lp 5.0.1 via OTA updates.
Then I tried to install TWRP 2.8.6.0 using Odin 3.10.6 (and 3.09), but I can't boot into TWRP, it just goes into Android System Recovery (or whatever it's called).
Before I updated, I could successfully use TWRP, root and create/restore backups etc. But, since the OS update I can't (plus I will have lost root, as I downloaded/installed the KK ROM as a "clean install".
From looking around various sites and watching videos. I think I need to side load TWRP using ADB.
But, I've visited the Dev. site, downloaded the SDK zip files. Extracted them, but the folder that should contain the files (platforms) is empty.
So, I downloaded the exe file. It wouldn't allow me to install it as I don't have Java installed.
I downloaded and tried to install Java, but it fails to install. Just F typical.
Could someone offer an easy to follow step by step advice and maybe post the files I need to use (if I do need to use ADB).
I'm using 910F and USB debugging is allowed.
Thank you.
************ EDIT ************
Never mind. I had to flash the Lp 5.0.1 stock ROM to fix the problem and now TWRP works.

Thank you for your help.
The reactivation lock is disabled.
To update my OP, other things I've tried:
I've downloaded and installed the basic files for ADB as well as the full SDK.
Some site say to update the ADB files to the Google USB Drivers (found in the SDK). It just says I'm up to date when I try to find newer drivers via Device Manager.
Tried flashing CWM instead of TWRP using Odin.
Tried installing TWRP (zip) when in the Android System Recovery mode via SD card.
When using ADB. My device is listed when I type "adb devices".
But when I type "fastboot flash recovery <the name of the TWRP file .IMG> I just get "waiting for device".
I get this message if I'm in Bootloader mode or using the phone "normally".
Hopefully it works out
Firstly download TWRP from the website : https://dl.twrp.me/trltexx/twrp-2.8.6.0-trltexx.img.tar.html
Then turn your device off and remove the battery for around 10 seconds (make sure the device isn't connected to any charger or anything via the USB cable).
Then after the 10 seconds put the battery back into the device and hold the home, volume down and power button.
Once you are in download mode and it says 'Downloading', plug your device into computer using the USB cable.
Open up Odin as admin and make sure no security software is interfering; once your device shows up in Odin select 'PDA' and then browse to the directory of the recovery file.
Then press start, however while it's flashing press the volume up and home button and this should boot the device directly into recovery. This is important as sometimes stock firmware might revert to stock recovery if you don't boot into recovery at least once.
I hope this helps you out.
UPDATE:
Crap, I didn't read that it worked out XD Ignore me ;P

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I did fix it by re-flashing.
But, the info will be useful if I get into a similar situation again. Or will help anyone else who's stuck.
Hello all,
Apologies for some brevity. Wrote a long, overly-detailed post before my browser crashed and left me frustrated as hell. I'll still try to be clear with my problem and my device information.
The Problem
During a trial-and-error process of getting my G4 (2016) unlocked, flashed, and rooted I've ended up in an odd predicament. The phone will not boot straight into Android-- it has to explicitly enter the Bootloader and be told to START. Otherwise (either by reboot or by powering on from off) it will enter the TWRP recovery. I don't know enough about the boot process to speculate as to why this is happening, but I can assume it's something I've done incorrectly during my myriad of errors on the process.

Can anyone speculate and help me figure out what the issue is with this phone? I can't find stock firmware for the XT1625 yet or I would most definitely be willing to wipe everything, and start from scratch to experiment with the issue. I am also very foolish in that I did not IMMEDIATELY make a backup of the device upon successful TWRP flash, but did shortly after-- no backups I can restore from will fix this issue.

volume button sticking?
hi jwarner112,
if you have successfully bootloader unlocked your phone, you can enter fastboot mode of your phone by pressing both power+volume down button at the same time. but before you do this, you need to make sure you install the following items on your computer:
make sure to install the latest motorola drivers on your computer. here is the link to the drivers:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
after installing the latest motorola drivers, download and install rsdlite for windows(latest version 6.2.4). here is the link to the latest rsdlite:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59348530&postcount=6
finally download the latest stock firmware for motorola xt1625 non-prime exclusive (athene) from here:
http://rootjunkysdl.com/files/Moto%20G%204th%20Gen%20XT1625/Firmware/ATHENE_MPJ24.139-49_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip.
After downloading this firmware, put your phone in fastboot mode by pressing on power+volume down button at the same time. once the phone enters into fastboot mode, now plug the device into your computer via usb.
now open the latest version of rsdlite on your computer and click on "show device". it should detect your device in fastboot mode, which is necessary to flash the stock firmware file which you have downloaded. click on the "..." button in rsdlite to browse to the stock firmware file and once you find it (make sure you open the file while it is in ".zip" format), decompress and flash it. Remember, this will wipe everything on your phone and will be more like a complete factory data reset.
Now the flashing process should be going on and once it is over, you will restore everything back to normal. Note that bootloader will still be unlocked, but root will gone and twrp recovery will be gone. Like before, flash your twrp, but before you do a root of your phone make a complete backup of your phone in twrp recovery so that you have a good place to start if root goes bad.
Also make sure when you install root, use the latest version 2.76. I accidentally installed the older versions of supersu, which didnt support systemless root and ended up soft bricking my phone. Here is the link to the latest version of root that is compatible with systemless root on the moto G4:
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu-stable
Prior to flashing supersu, make sure you go to the adb terminal in twrp and type in the systemless root command so that it will force a systemless root installation of supersu. In order to do this, in TWRP go to Advanced and open the Terminal, and in the terminal type this EXACTLY as shown:
Code:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
Now press enter (there is no confirmation returned), then exit and press the Home key. Go to Install and select the SuperSU zip file you downloaded (version 2.76 or higher) and swipe to flash it and reboot.
Once all of this is done, I hope you have a working phone with bootloader unlocked, twrp recovery, and systemless root. if you still have problems attaining this features in your phone, please let us know! otherwise, hit me a thanks!
Good Luck!

I don't believe this is the issue because I've got two identical phones with the same behavior. It seems intuitive to me that the error lies in the process.

This fixed the issue for me. That is to say, I was able to flash the stock firmware for MPJ24_139-48 and from there re-flash recovery, logo, and systemless root.

Your waiting Time IS Now Finished Here is Complete Guide to Root Doogee X5 Max Pro install twrp And More,
Hit :good:
ADB & Fastboot
Before doing most things mentioned below you will need "adb" and "fastboot" installed. Two of your options are to install the Android SDK Tools or the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool. If you are somewhat new to this I highly recommend the second one. Go here, download the latest version (1.3.1 as of this writing), and install it. When setup is complete you should have an icon for the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool.
Note: I highly recommend you add "C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot" to your PATH variable in Windows. This way you can open a Command Prompt anywhere and use adb or fastboot.
1) Unlock Bootloader
Power on the phone and skip through all of the setup options
Go to Settings -> About device
Tap Build number five times to enable Developer options
Go to Settings -> Developer options
Enable OEM unlocking
Enable USB debugging
Plug the phone in to your PC and authorize it
Open a Command Prompt
Type adb reboot-bootloader
The phone should reboot and in a very tiny font at the bottom you should see => FASTBOOT mode
Type fastboot devices to verify that your PC sees it correctly
Type fastboot oem unlock
Press Volume Up to say Yes and wait for this to finish
Type fastboot getvar all and look for (bootloader) unlocked: yes
Type fastboot reboot
You should see your phone reboot a couple times as it erases the phone
Install twrp-
Power on the phone
You can configure your phone now or just skip through all of the setup options and do that later
Go to Settings -> About device
Tap Build number five times to enable Developer options
Go to Settings -> Developer options
Enable OEM unlocking
Enable USB debugging
Plug the phone in to your PC and authorize it
Open a Command Prompt to wherever you extracted the .img file
Type adb reboot-bootloader
The phone should reboot and in a very tiny font at the bottom you should see => FASTBOOT mode
Type fastboot devices to verify that your PC sees it correctly, rename twrp to recovery.img
type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to flash recovery
Type fastboot reboot
Rooting-
Download BETA-SuperSU.zip and save it to the phone's internal memory or an inserted microSD card
Plug the phone in to your PC
Open a Command Prompt
Type adb reboot recovery
You should now be in twrp. Go to Install zip, find SuperSU.zip, and install it
When it finishes go to Go Back -> Reboot Phone -> No
Once the phone boots up launch SuperSU and configure it as you like
Other Solutions-
i have doogee x5 max-s (i geuss limited editon in algeria ) with mtk6735 . i do evrything and all steps but when i reboot to recovery mode i have ( no command ) in the screen .... how to fix that ? sorry for my ****ty english XD
I had the same Issue but i have found a solution!
After you have flashed the twrp recovery, dont reboot the phone! the "recovery.sh" will replace the twrp on every boot!
Just pull off the battery after flashing, disconnect usb and put the battery back in to the phone.
Now get in to the recovery by pressing volume up and power button together until the select bootmode menue appears.
select recovery with the volume up button and enter with the volume down button.
and now you should be in the twrp main menue.
i hope it works for you too!

It does not work from step 12, all the drives are correctly installed and windows recognizes the cell, the recovery image is in the internal memory and also in the sd but of the error "can not load Recovery.img". I tried all the tutorials on the net to do root and nothing worked. The flash does not recognize to pass the recovery also the installed drivers because windows recognizes the cell phone.

Flash does not pass the file in the download only option, the process does not start. I reinstalled ROM by firmware mode all ok, but the process of passing recovery on command 12 and 13 of the error message. I manually copied the recovery to the sd and internal memory but also from the error. Does not find the file speaks that it is not a command found.

Until today I could not do root on x5 max pro. In the method below even downloading the twrp when starting with the power + volume down button start with a menu in Chinese and if you start with volume up + power goes in the default recovery mode.
Same as Pitro1 I am on 16.01 update and I cannot install twrp no matter what I try.
I tried x32 and x64. I tried rebooting directly on recovery or first load system and then adb reboot recovery. I tried to format all first (now I lost my Imei and so on lol). I downgraded and updated again. Downgrading works only with 26.12 version. All others are giving me Colorado lines on the screen and nothing else...
OEM unlock, file transfer, adb, fastboot, drivers detection, are all working good. Only I cannot install twrp...
Also I cannot write nvram nor with SN Writer 2.1504 nor with Imei & SN Writer 1.7.2, MetaAP mode fails all the time...
I'm just about to send it back...

How old is your phone and what build version was it at before you started? Because this doesn't work on mine. Which of the "Android 6" ROMs did you flash to start with as I've tried flashing mine back to an earlier one in case it's something with the later stuff that my phone has come with but they either don't make a difference or they won't even boot.
I tried the method in the first post here and the phone wouldn't even boot (switch on and you get the Doogee logo in silver for a few seconds then it reboots and does the same again). I had to flash the stock ROM from NeedROM to get it working again.
I've tried flashing TWRPx32 and x64 available NeedROM both with SPFlash tools and with ADB. Generally flashing it with ADB from the command line leaves the phone in that boot-loop. If I flash it with SPFlash when you try to boot into Bootloader afterwards you get the Doogee logo in silver for a few seconds then it seems to reboot again on it's own and boot normally - you don't even get the menu to choose Fastboot, Recovery or Normal. From then on trying to boot to the Bootloader gives you the menu but choosing Recovery gives you the standard recovery.
It's almost as if something is overwriting the recovery partition with the original after I flash TWRP onto it.
Anyone got any suggestions about where I might be going wrong or a way around whatever additional security they might have put in there?
Hi. I have tried to root my x5 max pro with flash tools to load TWRP, but it always restarts normally and the TWRP does not come out. I found you and I started to try this method to load the TWRP. Does everything good, unload bootloader and load recovery, but loading the TWRP gives me error .:
Device unauthorized.
This adb's $ ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is nor set; Try adb kil-server if that seems wrong
what I do?
rooting X5 Max pro in Ubuntu 16.04
Hi all, this is my first china phone and I basically bought it only to experiment, I'm a linux power user but this is the first time I 'play' with an android OS.
thanks to multiple guides and posts on this and other forums I'm getting somewhere and learning a lot about how to manage an android OS, I'm sharing a bit of info I unovered about doing this under ubuntu but I'm also stuck and in need of guidance, please help me.
Linux specific issues:
I'm running ubuntu 16.04 LTS, installed fastboot and adb tools from ubuntu repos, with these tools and no other modification to my system I could follow the tutorial on how to unlock the OEM bootloader with adb and fastboot.
accordingly to this post about SP flash tool in linux you might need to blacklist a modem manager module in order for SP flash tool to connect to the phone, you also need to install usb development tools (package libusb-dev) and check through dmesg that your linux OS can actually properly read mediatek usb devices.
After following the above mentioned instructions (both the linux sp flash tool tutorial and the bootloader unlocking howto) I could get SP flash tool linux (multiple version) to see the phone after you connect it while SP flash is downloading the new recovery image and flash it with an ok message.
If you get stuck with a BROM error 1013 remember to start sp flash tool with root privileges.
Phone specific issues:
I can get SP flash tool to flash my phone recovery with an ok message confirmation but the phone keeps rebooting with doogee recovery and not twrp. I'm on the newest stock ROM update (20170116) as of current post date. I've been using 32 bit TWRP images from multiple sources and linux version 5.1620 of spflash tool from their website
so my questions are as following:
1) after reading other posts I think I might have to play with different versions of SP flash tool and TWRP until I get the right combination, I think I might be using 64bit spflash tool for linux to flash a 32bit rom or something like that, can anybody confirm precise version number of the stock rom, TWRP and SP flash tool that worked out for you?
2) should I try to install the whole stock ROM posted in this chinadevices thread before trying to flash only TWRP recovery? please also check the linked thread for multiple custom ROM being ported to this phone, please also note that the full stock rom this poster uploaded (it's in the "all firmware" link) contains another flashing tools with chinese instruction called MultiDownloadTool.
www.china-devices.com/forum/index.php?threads/doogee-x5-max-pro-mt6737-custom-roms.20527/
3) I don't have access to a windows installation right now, but I do have a Win10 VM under Vmware workstation 12 pro, so I could try windows version of sp flash tool, do you guys think that USB passthrough would work?

Same here. May a work around would be finding out the oem commands in fastboot. I have seen a tutorial to get them, but you have to be root: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-discover-hidden-fastboot-commands/
I search a simple method
Why all so complicate? I am searching for a simple way to root.
For my old Doogee X5, I discovered just
update-ROOT-DOOGEE_X5.zip
Copy the zip to the micro-SD-card
Settings -> Phone info -> Update -> menu "update local" -> choose zip from micro-SD-card.
Start update.
That's all!
Now I search for such a simple solution for my new Doogee X5 MAX pro.
I do not want any methods with "volume down power", because my X5 MAX pro has the menus after "Volume down power" start in Chinese language.

Hi there,
I just tried the first file you posted, (twrp-x32-rom), and this one works for me after all previous attempts to boot up TWRP failed. Thanks for the link !
What I had tried before:
I have a relatively new X5 Max Pro, which I ordered a week ago. I updated the firmware to the newest version (20170116) using the OTA update function.
Then I tried to flash TWRP using the files from "needrom.com" which seem to have worked on older versions of the phone/firmware, but did not work for the newer versions.
I tried 32bit and 64bit TWRP versions and flashed them with SP flash tool, but when pressing Vol+/Power the phone would not boot into TWRP recovery. Insted, when selecting "Recovery" from the boot menu, the phone would show the Doogee logo in silver, then blink once, then boot up normally. When repeating this process, then phone boots into Stock recovery, indicating that the TWRP I flashed was replaced by stock recovery.
However, I just flashed the recovery.img from "TWRP LATEST" (the first file posted by Neaw) with SP flash tools and was finally able to boot into TWRP. I installed the superSU-zip 2.79 included in the link, and I am now rooted. Once again, thanks for posting this :good:

Doogee X5 MAX! SERIUS PROBLEM......
Hello Guys i have a serious problem with my phone.....i have Malware on it and i cant uninstall it or anything alse.....the worst thing is that my phone not responding in any connection except that charging.....i can't have access on my storage cause this is not allowed or gives the choice! i tried everything but nothing nor the usb debugging or anything else please give me your help!!!!
I have a LG K20 plus with t mobile as the carrier. I believe the model should be TP260. I mistakenly restored a twrp backup from a metro pcs phone that I got from this site coincidentally. Now my phone drops calls and data frequently and shows metro pcs on bootup vs tmobile. I have a kdz file but it won't flash because it now also thinks the model is MP260...not TP260 and says it's a mismatch. Any ideas on how I can get a restore for tmobile to try to reset the phone?
Just bumping
i could use a restore too. I installed super SU root and lost access to android pay. I wasnt to try that magisk root
I restored mine with the linked files.
install LG driver (uninstall any other drivers first)
install LGUP
remove battery from phone and replace
hold volume up key
insert USB while holding down volume up key
phone will boot to download mode
drivers will find phone
run UPPERCUT.exe
UPPERCUT.exe will launch LGUP with phone connected. if phone is not connected try again.
in LGUP lower window browse to TP26010k_00_0316.kdz
choose UPGRADE option in LGUP
click START in LGUP
factory ROM and Recovery will be installed, bootloader will still be unlocked
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BygTApD1iNSSb3pCcU9RRlV1MVE
magisk can be installed using the same method as superSU. Mine is working along with AndroidPay

You were able to install TWRP after this process with the TP26010k_00_0316.kdz?
I am on TP26010E and don't want to upgrade to TP26010k if TWRP cannot be flashed as it has been stated here.
Yeah, you have to perform OEM unlock again, but I have been able to flash TWRP after flashing the previously attached .kdz with the LGUP tool

Can I install this kdz from twrp and install supersu?
no, you have to use LGUP tool. This is a LG image that will flash everything including your recovery partition, and not a flashable ROM image.
You flash root through TWRP, you use LGUP for kdz as the user above said rom flashing and kdz flashing are two different things
See this post which reflects the new kdz available https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73690098&postcount=3
Just a Heads up there is a new version out, as of 9/01/17

I flashed the modded ROM for MetroPCS, and couldn't flash kdz file because my phone was identified as MP260, instead of TP260.
I wiped the phone and re-locked the bootloader, and the phone would only boot into download mode, It gave a message about it being corrupted.
I took it back to TMO, and the sales people thought it was a virus, and replaced the device.
I've made a TWRP backup for anyone who runs into the same problem. This will fix your problem, so you can use the flash tools available for this device.
NOTE: I also provided Root tools and instructions for those Rooting for the first time.
1. Power off device, plug into computer, then hold volume up for download mode and let COM drivers install, you may need to change COM port to 41, through device manager.
2. In LGUP, choose upgrade or FOTA upgrade.
2. Once you flash firmware, you'll have to hit reset once or twice to get rid of the encryption failure notification.
3. Enjoy rooting your device again if you so choose.
ROOTING:
NOTE: Must have ADB & Fastboot setup already.
First you must unlock your bootloader.
1. In about phone settings, tap build number 6x to get developer settings, enable adb debugging and OEM unlock. Now plug into your computer.
2. Boot into Fastboot mode.
A. Open command prompt and type: adb reboot-bootloader.
B. Next type: fastboot oem unlock.
WARNING: You'll be prompted to factory reset device to protect your data. Your chance to turn back, if your brave then continue. Your device will factory reset, and you'll have to perform the first step again and you'll be ready to root.
1. To flash TWRP, plug into computer, then in command line navigate to where you have your recovery.img
A. adb reboot-bootloader
B. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. Pull battery and manually boot into recovery,
A. volume+down as soon as you see LG, release then press again quickly and hold, follow the steps provided.
3. Hit cancel for the encryption notice, and swipe to modify system.
4. You must format device to get rid of encryption message, so choose format and it will ask you to type, yes.
5. Stay in recovery and flash the no-encryption.zip, and Magisk, if you choose to use it for your SU manager. Stay in recovery.
6. Reboot into recovery, and then set up your TWRP environment.
7. Enjoy Root:laugh:
NOTE: If you decide to root again, try using Magisk for SU management. Magisk's mods are excellent, and can run along side Xposed. If you choose Magisk, do not flash SuperUser.zip

You could probably flash the TWRP back up. After that your device would be Identified as TP260, by the flash tools and you'd end up with the same issue I had, when you decided to go back to stock, so make a TWRP backup on external memory. The KDZ file most likely won't flash because it performs a DLL check, to match device with firmware.

I've got backup after unlock Bootloader and before root. Pretty sure it's got recovery on it. I always make a backup asap. It's the mp26010t (I had the November patch but some reason after root it says Oct).
Is that what you need?
Pm me if this is what you need and I'll send you a link
I have a Metro LG K20 Plus phone and want to change the firmware to T-Mobile. I have not been successful doing this as I always get invalid firmware, because LG UP recognizes the phone as a metro phone. Is there a way to succeed in getting the T-Mobile firmware on the phone?
thanks in advance.
lg k20 plus tmobil
lgup recognizes my model correctly as lg-tp260 on [com41] but it just sits there initializing for eternity. With my model highlighted I select it and I keep getting the error "LGUP cant load the model [C:\Program Files(x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\com. I have installed lg air drive, lg bridge, lgup8994.dll, lgup for store. I desperately need to get this thing back to stock, I have the AICP rom installed but I dont like it. it was a mistake, if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Could you PM me this link to the Metro PCS stock backup, if you still have it?
I have a Grand Prime Duos (SM-G530H), currently running an Android version 4.4.4 and I wanted to install a custom ROM to have a higher version of Android. (Tried installing LineageOS 17.1 from itexpert.120, but any custom ROM with a higher version of Android would do)
Problem 1: No custom recovery seems to work.
I installed the TWRP app and tried to flash 4 different versions of their recovery images (from twrp-3.7.0_9-0-fortuna3g.img to twrp-3.4.0-0-fortuna3g.img) and all of them resulted in a unless glitched gray recovery screen.
I also tried the CWM app but it fails to download a recovery image for the device, tried looking online for a image file but didn't find one either.
In the end I reverted the recovery to the default one that I had backed up.
Problem 2: ADB works but fastboot doesn't.
I downloaded the ADB tools to try and flash the ROM from my computer instead. The ADB commands work, but when the device enters recovery mode the fastboot commands don't work. ("fastboot devices" doesn't even list the device)
Went to check the drivers. Most tutorials say to open the device manager and look for the phone device with an exclamation mark and update the driver with ones downloaded from the official site. To my surprise the device doesn't show up at all in the device manager (not even with an exclamation mark). Trying to install the drivers anyway says it's already installed.
The Odin software showed the same problems, detects the device when it's on, but doesn't detect it when in recovery mode.
Problem 3: Error when installing directly through the recovery mode options.
This probably wouldn't work for technical reason I'm not aware of, but I went and tried anyway. On the default recovery mode there are 2 options, apply update from ADB and apply update from external storage. Tried both, the first using the command "adb sideload <lineage rom file>" and the second using the ROM file in a SD card. Both begin to unpack and install the file but after a while throw an error "E: failed to verify whole-file signature", then the device boots to the usual OS.
So, is there anything else I can try? any other recovery images or hacks that won't give me the glitched recovery that TWRP had? Or another method to install a ROM without fastboot? Maybe using another file format in problem 3?
OBS: the device is rooted and has no "OEM unlock" options in its settings
delete the samsung usb drivers and install an older version. only way you can flash custom recovery is with odin. only way to flash custom rom is with custom recovery. fastboot and sideload wont work, this isnt a nexus
You think the reason why the custom recovery was glitched is because it was flashed through the TWRP app and not Odin? Seems unlikely. Is there any non-TWRP recovery image for my model you can point me to?
