Have you tried to pull the data off using ADB? Have you tried flashing TWRP and mounting the data partition in TWRP?

You can use CWM or other recovery to back up the entire data, flash your os and then restoring the data.

What will flashing a kernel do?

I want to flash a custom kernel i.e. Phantom. But will flashing it reset my phone our lose all my personal data? If yes please suggest a way to quickly back up and restore it.
No, you won't lose any data by flashing the kernel.

Galaxy S7 Edge - Flash / Wipe

Hi guys
I installed one S8 Port, and then tried another (Dirty Flash)
Then, i wanted to move back to the original S8 port i used. I did a clean install Wiped Storage Data and Davilk cache. But i still see some traces of the previous ROM? Ie like the launcher etc?
Should i format data again aswell? (I did this when i first flashed the first ROM, coming from stock?) or is there another sequence i should use?
yes you need format data to get rid of the current rom and then reflash the rom you would like.
Dirty flash is only used idf you do not want to lose data.
With custom roms, itis gfeneral a good idea to do a full delete and the flash.

If your bootloader is unlocked meaning you have a international S8 then you flash twrp for your model threw Odin and it will be a custom recovery with no root however if you don't format data your data partition will remain encrypted and you won't be able to to a backup of your phone cause the data partition is encrypted and won't be accessible via twrp after that format data the encryption Will be temporary removed unless flash a decryptor zip easily found on xda to stop your stock rom kernel from encrypting it again while it's booting up from the first time but overall your answer is yes you can install twrp with having to root or format data however without formating data twrp is kind of useless

If u unlocked your bootloader and your data is decrypted, your phone won't boot with ur data partition unless u completely format it or u flash dfe which in simple terms disables encryption verification
Try it..
U have to flash it everytime u flash a rom zip file which modifies your boot image or your system

I have bootloader unlocked and a custom rom (corvus) I just wanted to test all others roms with no formating data, because its a very boring way to flash roms...
I will test ur zip file, thanks.
Titanium Backup in the PlayStore is what you want.
A new rom should always be installed with a clean wipe to prevent issues.
Titanium allows yo to back up all your data and reinstall it to any rom

Hello I think you're wrong I don't care about application data, we are talking about personal data like music on the phone and others.
When you must backup data you have to transfer ALL on your computer or by otg but when you want to install a rom you don't even want to tranfert your 100go of data and back it up again lol.
