N9005 poor WiFi signal only on 2.4ghz band - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I always connect my phone on 5ghz band and only a few days ago I noticed there aren't networks near me (only one.. almost impossible in a city). So I tried to move close to my router and finally a poor 2.4ghz signal was found.
My configuration:
ROM: Havoc OS 3.7
Magisk 20.4
Baseband: N9005XXUGPQB1
I can't understand if it's a software issue or hardware.
Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks.

Could try changing baseband .

Thank you for your suggestion, I followed you and I've tried to flash other baseband but without success.
Is there a method to reset the wifi connection settings?
I tried to delete "/data/misc/wifi" folder but same result ..only 5ghz networks.
I don't want restore the original firmware to exclude software issue.

Losing signal after updating CM

Hello there,
I installed the latest CM from the official website and now I have problems with my signal.
Most of the times, the phone can not find a signal. Sometimes it catches it, but it will last for 4-5 minutes. If I go into flight mode and come back, the signal will be there for 1 minute. When I don't have signal, there's the R near the signal bar (Roaming).
I haven't changed my modem with the new installation (I9505XXUAMDC). I am on the O2 / TESCO Mobile network in Ireland.

Hi mate ,
I assume you have an I9505 , there is know issue with modem/bootloader incompatibility you may have to use a modem wifi fix or upgrade the bootloader to use the newer modems

Hi mate ,
If i am not wrong that is a 4.2.2 modem , if you don't worry about the warranty anymore i would get the full package
MODEM / LTE / BOOTLOADER
I fixed it by installing the modem+Wi-Fi fix. I was afraid of installing the bootloader, as if something goes wrong when installing the modem, it can be fixed, but I don't think it's the same with the bootloader

Recent unimagined issue with data network.

From couple of days I am facing a bit unique problem that whenever I enable my data into #GSM it shows h+ and runs 3g and after a while it auto changes into E from h+ and within a minute data network gets disabled.. And again it auto enable data and same process starts: h+ to E, E to h+ and disable / enable.. Network data gets disable enable automatically...
Maybe a provider problem
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
did you try a factory rest. It can be a provider problem.
Kind regards

How you recently update your phone's firmware?
If so, Its not really an unique problem, since I am experiencing the same.
With an OTA update to I9505XXUPOL1, my data connection was not working at all.
To fix my data connection problem, I have flashed I9505XXUHPA1, which was stable connection, but only E (gsm) connection, it has disable LTE.
Sources within this forum say that I9505VJUHOK1 (south america firmware) works properly, I have not tested it yet. If some can confirm please let me or us know.
I download my firmware from the sammobile website

WiFi connections problems - baseband?

Hello,
since I installed Nougat to my G4 Plus, first stock, then lineageos 14.1, I have problems with the wifi connections... every know and then, it just disconnects. I observed this behavior at many wifis, not just mine at home.
Does someone else have this problem? Which baseband are you using? Are you using dual SIM?
I got the baseband M8952_70030.25.03.62R.
Thanks for your help!

I'll concur with this. On both 2.4 and 5GHz as well as over 4G, my connection will drop every so often.
Nothing life-changing, but somewhat annoying. I'm on the Nougat RETUS radio.

Same as yours; 70030.25.03.62R
I also have the same issue since the official Nougat update. Any ideas as to what it could be. Very annoying.
I have the same issue, it's very random and sometimes the wifi will not re-connect, I must manually connect to re-establish it. I have attempted to discover what if anything I am doing which may be causing it to occur with no real answers. I find it more than mildly annoying as it results in my connection timing out. Sometimes I may go hours without an incident, other times it is perpetual and constant. I believe that it may be caused by faulty hardware or firmware for the wifi radio as I have been incapable of discovering any evidence to suggest that this is widespread enough to be related to Nougat. That being said I did not have this problem until completing the official update on my phone which was completely stock at the time it was initially completed. My only course of action at this point is to A. rely on someone far more intelligent with this device to fix it. B. replace it with a different device
Same here. Very annoying when using VOIP etc. I tried both M and N basebands and different roms/kernels.
The problem might be due to the router settings.
Try to update firmware of check your wifi channel.
Wifi connectivity problem after ROM upgrade: baseband VS Llineage VS stock ROM
I flashed the newest clean stock firmware NPJS25.93-14-18 on XT1625
baseband M8952_70030.25.03.62.02R Athene_RetUSA
Then I flashed Llineage-14.1-20180815 and observed problems with Wifi, mostly with old WEP protocol.
Then I downgraded to stock ROM NPJS25.93-14-7-8
baseband M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R Athene_RetUSA.
Wifi connection seemed to be OK on stock NPJS25.93-14-7-8.
So is the wifi problem resolved with baseband M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R?
Not exactly so. After I flashed Llineage-14.1-20180815 with GApps (nano) , the wifi problem re-appeared despite having "good" M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R
So baseband is the same, but Andoid 7.0 stock ROM handles wifi better than the latest Lineage. Or is Google apps and software is involved?
The problem was discussed on Motorola forum
The problems seem not to be limited to Moto G4 only, but clearly appeared after upgrading to newer firmware. It might have something to do with tightening security in resent Android and Google firmware as Wifi WEP protocol considered outdated and of low security . However, some people reported problems with Wifi WPA protocol, too

I believe it is an issue of the APN. All the custom roms i had tried had this issue. But it was only later (Like 5-6 different rom tryouts that i understood that changing the APN worked. For me it was set to "portalnmms" for my sim by default. Changed it to "www". You can try this method. Settings->more->mobile networks-> Access point names

Nope that didnt resolve the issue.
I think you are having a baseband problem . Even if you flash it you will not be able to change the baseband version. I was having the same problem but if fixed it .

Wifi 5GHz is not available on Mi 9T ?

Hi friends,
I bought this phone 1 month ago and since I bought it I used it mostly with MIUI 10 Global ROM which was updated to v10.3.9 already. And with both 10.3.6 or 10.3.9 versions I could not see my 5GHz network on wifi settings.
Then I installed 10.3.12 Xiaomi EU ROM and currently I am using that one but still I can not see my 5GHz network. Any ideas what could be the reason ??
The funny part I have Xiaomi MiPAD 4 tablet , Xiaomi Mi Air 13 notebook and my router is Xiaomi Mini Router which supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Both my tablet and notebook can see the 5GHz network and connects without problems but my phone on the other hand can not see it at all. I really can not understand why this is happening , if you have any ideas please share with me.
Additionally I will put some extra information here..
I read on many forums that this could be a problem due to my router and I need to change firmware. I already did that and installed OpenWRT firmware , after installing it 5GHz network suddenly appeared on my phone and I could connect without problems. But unfortunately 2.4GHz network was problematic with that SW so I installed another firmware called Padavan. But in this case again 5GHz network disappeared from phone. Tablet and notebook can see it with any firmware I installed into modem.
So finally I reverted back to OpenWRT because in latest version I read in forums that problems in 2.4GHz network was solved. But after installing the firmware again with patch , this time again 5GHz network is not visible on my phone , tablet and notebook again are fine , both can connect to 5GHz network without any issues.
So after all this process , I am suspecting that someting in kernel or maybe build.prop affects 5GHz network to be visible on the phone. If you can share any ideas I`ll be really appreciated.
Mine is fine on official global 10.3.10 EEA
I was having disconnection issues with the 5ghz network at first but I changed the channels around, forgot the network on the phone and re-added it and its working fine now.

I'm not sure as this is my first xiaomi and I haven't messed with roms yet but from what I read fastboot should have it and I know the official website has it in the downloads section.
Did anybody find the fix?
I still have the issue
QFJEUXM 11.0.4.0 - using home WiFi 5GHz, as on the screenshot, everything ok.
