Hello everyone!
I dont have a lot of experience with android, but would love if someone would take a bit of time to explain if I can get a better performance out of my old head unit.
I have an old Xtrons for audi tt, with android 4.2.2 on it ( I can take a "about device picture if needed ). It is a bit slow right after boot up, but after that runs fine, just a bit slow.
Would it benefit from updating to newer android, and how should I do it? thanks!!
Best regards,

Hi all,
I recently purchased a android head unit on Aliexpress. I can't post the link yet....
The unit is globally good, perfect integration and I managed to get the swc to work "natively" with poweramp app.
When I get more time I'll post a review of the device and feedback after a few weeks playing with the toy... In the mean time feel free to ask me !
I open this topic today because I would like to root the HU in order to install Viper4android which I understand improves the audio quality (stock quality is ok but it could be improved...).
The seller has been quite responsive but as soon as I talked about rooting the HU to install said app I got zero response so I figured XDA would be the place to go!
Before opening this thread I tried to find an answer on my own but not knowing precisely the HU name/specs makes it hard to find a match.
I've tried rooting with kingroot and baidu but I couldn't go through!
In order to help you guys help me, here is the data I have on my unit (apart from the link above that isn't giving much away... except it's supposed to be a Bonroad brand but nothing on the net....)
Its a quad core R16 1.6G
Android 4.4.2
MCU version : 5.3.18-98-10-E50201-160323
System version : 4.5.9_20160322
DVD version : 2.13.15-1200xh-15041.7
The audio chip is a TDA 7719 and the radio chip TEF662X.
Code to extra settings : 123456
Code to develop mode : 7890.
As design it looks pretty close to the wunlink Ownice but everyone knows that the inside may vary significantly !
Can anyone Id my unit based on the data above ? Or help me root it without bricking it ?
Thanks a lot for your help and looking forward to hearing from you and exchanging tips and tricks on these units!

You have pretty much the exact same info as my Android unit.
I was able to root my unit using "Kingoroot". But I would lose root every reboot. Then someone posted here to use "Kingroot V4.5.0" and only that version worked for me to keep root.
These are the forums that worked for me

Hi,
I recently bought the attached unit 2nd hand with not firmware or gps card or any leads.
I managed to get power to it using a pioneer lead but when I plugged it in it beeped but the screen was blank and the src button lit up for a few seconds.
I then pressed the reset button and held in src let go of the reset and held the scr for a further 5 seconds or so and it seemed to boot up showed the vw screen then an android screen but it stays on the android screen and will not do anything else.
I believe it is the model in the following link I will also post a video of the reset I done

please see the link to the reset video

Hello xda-members,
i am interested of buying a android head unit from China.
Because of my Honda FR-V (Edix) ant it´s difficult procedure of replacing the stock head unit, i need a reliable and future-ready hu buildt in to my car.
So, i am defenetly looking for a unit with 4GB of RAM and at least Android 6,7 or 8.
My main problem is the heat reduction. I want to install a cpu cooler (passive heatsink) and a low Speed fan on the inside (top) wich blows the generated heat out of the unit.
This is why i started this thread.
If you have any (own) pictures of the inside of your (or other) head unit(s), then i will be happy if you post it here and we can build this thread up a little bit.
Sorry for my bad english, i am not a native speaker.
Regards
Maybe use the search function for the word "heatsink" ??
or ready this thread, which could apply to any Android head unit. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/inside-look-joying-android-head-unit-t3546872
Greetings all,
Feeling very let down by Xtrons for not providing a mechanism to upgrade their headunits with releases of Android. Android is an ever improving OS and must be honest I did believe at the time of purchase that I was buying a piece of hardware that could be updated as and when. I found no suggestions this was not the case when I was choosing it and again felt confident that anything that runs Android would be upgradable.
Anyway clearly I was wrong. Xtrons do seem to bring out new units every 15 mins with newer versions of Android. Does anyone know if this unit can be upgraded?
Although I haven't opened the box yet and thus it could go back, can any user tell me if a USB hub can be used to increase the number of cameras connected. I was wondering if I can have a reversing, a rear view and a front view connected.
Many Thanks for any help.
I have a unknown brand of android head unit, it is android 9.1 and pretty nice looking unit.
I'm wanting to get a better Bluetooth dialer\contacts as it puts it in a crap order and is now half shrunk on my screen also. Is there anyway to get a contacts app that can be used like my phone and just look up who to call and press call? also is there anyway I can make it so when I get a text message it will notify me and I can read or reply from the head unit?
the head unit is quad core but running really slow and I can't even fix the lines on my reverse camera to make them smaller so it's at proper size.
I would like a custom Android setup like Android 10 and be able to fix the issues i am having.
let me know any of the pics of the head unit you might need and specs and I'll get back on here and supply them.
Hi Everone,
I bought TS10 head Unit from a dealer and was everything perfect and smooth, but after 1 month the head unit started to go crazy by opening apps by itself
like the below video, I returned to the dealer again and managed to replace the unit with a new one, but again after like 2 weeks the head unit starts again crazy
please I need your help figuring out what's going on, PS the dealer says that may be the problem with the wiring (is that possible ?)

hi Wissam.pcld, I have a TS10 head unit similar to yours and I have your identical problem with the touch screen going crazy, watching your video it seems to see my screen, I tried to format and reinstall an old firmware but I failed to solve ... did you find any solution?
I have a similar issue with a similar head unit. It's random and intermittent, working OK most of the time, but every once and then goes crazy like that. Have you been able to solve it? Thanks for any advice.
Just as reference, I'm based in Argentina and the Android head unit is branded "Wis Huan", probably a chinese whitebrand.
