Just when you think you have this cursed tablet at least stable, something else happens. So the Google Market app decided to update itself to the Google Play Store. Now it force closes every time it's opened. Anyone getting the same (not getting the same?)? Any solutions? I tried manually side-installing another copy of the Play Store that I found online, but that made no difference.
I was able to fix this. I went into the Application Settings and cleared the data for the Google Play Store app. I then pressed the button to force stop the Google Play Store app, which I think caused the whole launcher to close and restart. After that, opening Google Play Store brought the "update" message and license agreement again without force closes. It's been running okay so far.
I was having the same issue with my store after attempting to rent a movie. Play Store and Play movies would FC every time. The clearing data trick didn't work. I had to to restore with a CWR backup.
try wiping 3 times. I have not had one problem since.

Found this on a less traveled site: This did the trick for me.
I had this problem and called Google Support. They were very helpful. What I had done is disabled the Download Manager when trying to get rid of the Facebook download notification. Go into Settings...Appplication manager. ..All...then find and click on Download Manager.
**Note: that if it is disabled it will be at the very bottom of the list of apps. Once you click on Download Manager you can click to enable it again. This worked for my problem at least so I'm posting hoping it may help others.
I have got YouTube, Gmail, Currents and Google Maps working in the Kindle Fire HD without rooting. However Google Maps is not able to get the location from Wifi and is not able to sign in using the following process. I was unable to get GTalk (also attached) to work so far. The following process does not use GoogleServicesFramework as was used in the Gingerbread version of Kindle Fire.
I have modded the apps with high resolution 256x256 icons for display in Kindle Fire Carousel using the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495854
I have used You Tube 3.5.5 modded for HD playback. Alternatively this works with any of the APKs found in the following topic or built for Ice Cream Sandwich.

1. Enable installation of applications from unknown sources in Kindle Fire Settings.
2. Install GoogleLoginService.apk.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the Google Apps.
5. Start YouTube. Sign In. It will take you to Google Account Manager to create/use existing Google credentials.
6. Same goes for other apps. In case sign in fails for any of the apps (except Maps/GTalk) drag down the Kindle Fire notification bar, click on the notification for "Permission requested....." and assign required permissions.

UPDATE: Thanks to alkemist80, installing GoogleServicesFramework.apk, rebooting & installing Talk from the following post, Talk works perfectly fine on Kindle Fire HD, unless it goes into sleep mode.
(If existing apps stop responding at this point, remove and reinstall them)

When I first got my fire I side loaded Gtalk after installing GoogleServicesFramework and it worked fine. I just installed the GoogleLoginService.apk and was able to log in to Youtube just fine but that does seem to have broken Gtalk for me. The gtalk .apk I was using just hangs while trying to sign me in. The one you provided immediately force closes when I try to open it. It seems to be trying to log me in as "@youtube.com" as opposed to "@gmail.com". I have been able to get it to let me sign incorrectly with gmail/drive/youtube but I don't get a chance to choose my log in as gtalk tries to start right up. That is weird that is was working before and now it's not. Any ideas?
Update: Using a google maps .apk I had as opposed to the one you included I was able to get maps up and running flawlessly as well as Navigation with turn by turn. I was also able to get Google Drive working as well. Here is the maps .apk I used:https://www.dropbox.com/s/lh5a4h9i6ex3nhv/com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk
Thanks for the maps apk, I will try it out. Well, multiple google/drive/youtube login thing never happened for me. Are you having both of these files - Gingerbread version of GoogleServicesFramework.apk and ICS version of GoogleLoginService.apk in the system? It could cause a problem. Otherwise doing a Clear Data on the GoogleLoginService (Google Account Manager) may clean up those ids.
drive
I can't get drive to.work. keeps telling me that drive has stopped. I installed it from 1mobile and app brain. Any suggestions?

Okay. Do you have a good source for that apk?
Also I believe he is referring to going into the Application Management settings area and clearing the data.
Thanks!

How did you get gtalk to work? Which apk did you use? My fire HD is rooted and GoogleServicesFramework installed and every time I open gtalk, it force closes immediately. I hardly even get a chance to see the error screen before it clears. Everything else I have installed works, play, maps and youtube.

Where did you get the apk for GoogleServiceFramework? I tried using one from my Nexus 7, but it would not install. Maybe because it is JB and I need an ICS version? Thanks.

Don't mean to hijack this thread and I don't think PM is working for me yet, but I just wanted to know if you had disconnection issues with Gtalk when the fire HD goes to sleep. Can't seem to figure this out.

I'm still having trouble with Drive. Youtube works, maps work, currents work, and so does Google books. I would really like Drive.to work as well.
Here's what it does. I have the Google accounts all installed but not the framework. When I had the framework installed quite a few programs stopped working. Now when I install drive, about 2 seconds later I get a message that drive has stopped. Then I go to the home screen and then get another drive has stopped message. If I try running it, a few times it looks like it is doing something, but I end up with the same.message. sometimes when I true running it I just get the message.
Yes, I've shut down several times. Any advice is appreciated.

I had some apps working using only the OP instructions; that is I wasn't running the framework at all. When I loaded the framework (then rebooted) so I could run the rest, most previously working apps stopped working. I found that if I reinstalled (no need to uninstall) those apps via ES file explorer (it has supervisor permissions) they immediately started working. I did root last night, but have not messed with the system folder to load Play as there is no backup yet. Not sure root is needed though, nor if supervisor permissions is an issue. Every app works great now. Only weirdness is Maps shows my position about 500 yards off target, while mapQuest is spot on. No biggie, just strange.
Thanks to the OP and others for getting us this far.

Well, this might be the Gingerbread version of Talk. The ICS versions I have are all > 2MB. The Gingerbread GoogleServicesFramework - Gingerbread Talk combination works fine in the ICS Kindle Fire HD but it messes up other Google Apps. Also I am unable to install any ICS version of GoogleServicesFramework yet. And the ICS version of Talk is unable to login without the Framework.
4.0.3 GoogleServicesFramework and Gtalk app from my EVO 3D. Both are running on my ROOTED kindle fire HD, no problems with google maps, play store or youtubeHD. However Gtalk does not seem to be supporting the front facing camera and causes the app to crash if you or someone else tries to connect via camera. Still trying to get gmail to function correctly, it will not push emails.
I seem to still be running into issues with Gtalk logging out while the device is in sleep mode.
I rooted my Fire HD tablet. I installed Nova Launcher, set it to /system/ and disabled Fire Launcher. I've installed the Google Play Store and set it's complement of Google apps as /system/ (Google, Google Play Store, GBoard, Hangouts, Gmail and etc.). After a few days Alexa stopped responding to requests. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I can access the Alexa app and it's settings menu without any issue. It's just that it won't respond to "Hey Alexa". Google Voice Assistant is disabled.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
I solved the issue. Please close this thread.

How did you solved it? I'm having the same issue.
EDIT: NVM solved it too by updating firmware.
Had this problem before. When going to my apps and games, instead of showing them it just shows Checking for updates.
Had this problem before but cant get it works now.
Tried enabling disable before and after reboot, try to delete data both in this and in services, doesnt work. Tried download new versions.

Did you tried to reconnect your Google account?
Ive removed it turn off and on the device and logged in again
Similar thing happened to me today. I uninstalled Google Play Store updates in the app manager to get my list of installed apps to show again. Then I had to reboot my phone once to keep any detached apps from accidentally updating in the Play Store (YouTube). After finally updating Play Store, I haven't had any issues so far.

No problem.
Hi,
one day, Google Play started acting up by crashing repeatedly (running on PixelExperience 9.0). Since I couldn't fix it, I tried out some newer ROMs, but either Google Play wouldn't install any apps or not start at all. I currently have LineageOS 19.1 installed and while Google Play starts normally, I can't install any apps because it says I need to free up space. However, looking in the settings, it reports that I have 10.9GB free.
I'm starting to get the feeling that Google Play is actually not the problem, as Settings crashes on several ROMs when I click on Settings ->Storage. Also, I am using the same Google account on my phone and have no problems there. :/
But what could it be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
