ROM with a lot of RAM consumption - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello good day, afternoon or evening, I hope you are well. I am communicating through this post because I would like to know what is the fastest ROM for the moto g5 plus, because right now I have pixel experience 10.0 and it has a lot of RAM consumption and that causes it to go slow when I run some applications, or directly close, and I would like to occupy a ROM with less RAM consumption. thanks.

crdroid felt better than PE for me. you can give it a try.

All Pie roms for P2 ram management

Tried mostly 9.0 roms for P2, found hi ram usage issue
as compared with Oreo roms which are better optimized
In pie if open 3 or 4 apps in the background ram usage reaches over 75% compere with 8.1 around 50%
Hope Developers can optimize like 8.1

Yeah, kinda noticed that as well.
Tinkering with low.memory settings via kernel adiutor only helped a small amount ?

Even I like pie ui over oreo but as compare with performance, stability, battery and ram management theses all factors keep me on AOSP Extended oreo last build

Nop
Odd - qualitative experience for me is that Pie does better there with less slowdown than Oreo on Lenovo P2. Enough that I can actually forgive crimes against app switcher, status bar and quick settings tiles.

AOSP Extended oreo is the best rom for P2, last 6 months never encounter lag or slow down
6 months is a long period to judge all parameters of any rom
I am stayed on my words about AOSP Extended 8.1 after almost all pie roms experienced till today

There is some error in showing the free RAM in recents screen. I have attached two screenshots, both taken at the same time. The one taken in running services page shows 1.4 gigs of free RAM whereas the other taken in recents screen shows 700mb odd free RAM. I'm not facing and lags or apps being lost in memory issues...so clearly the free ram shown in recents has some error.

Best Rom for RN7 3-32GB

Hi!
I recently bought a Redmi Note 7 as my daily driver and so far it works like a charm, but by mistake I took the 3-32 version instead of the 4-64. I'm running the latest global stable MIUI 11 rom, so far it works fine, fluid enough with very few bugs and good battery life.
The issue is that Global Stock rom eats too much ram, leaving little space to have multiple apps open so I'm looking for a rom that doesn't use too much ram/has a good ram management so I can have more apps running at the same time. It has to be stable enough for a daily driver use (I have other phones to experiment with).
Some options I have been looking for:
Xiaomi.eu: I like MIUI so it can be a nice option as far as I can see, but IDK if it improves the ram consumption/management issue.
some AOSP based rom: I come from a almost clean android phone so I can consider an AOSP-based rom, but I'm not sure which one serves my purpose the best. I'm testing Pixel Experience in a spare phone (Mi5) and seems to work nice, but not sure about its ram management
About storage, just got a new SD card for saving my media, but I'm not convinced to use Adoptable Storage (is that recommended anyway?), so no major worries here, but less system used space is appreciated too.
Let me know what do you think/recommend
Thanks!
you can simply use custom kernel and use zram, it should be enough I guess, I have 1.2-1.4 gb of free ram
custom roms are trash, always something doesn't work and battery backup is piece of sh...
are there more tweaks for the 32 gb model for better ram management ?
I have a redmi note 7 3/32 gb.and i am facing ram management issue but now my device is running good in ram management with flash a predator 5.6 kernel.
You can try this kernel.
You can debloat MIUI 11 with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools.
Also you can try AOSP Extended or Havoc, both are good custom Roms.
How much difference has a kernel mod in a phone?
Well, it seems MIUI is has a too aggressive RAM management that causes most of my apps to be killed while multitasking. For now I'm using Pixel Experience and so far it works really good with insane battery backup. Will try others recommended as well as soon as I have some spare time to mod my phone.
On the other side, I tried the Xiaomi.EU rom, but I didn't like it. I guess if I do not find any suitable rom for my needs and once global miui updates to Android 10 (it seems China roms are already updated) will try it debloated.
Thanks for the advice

Questions about stock OneUI 2.5 and LineageOS 18

Hi, I am getting my Samsung Tab S6 Lite in the mail tomorrow, I have a few questions for you guys that use LineageOS 18 on your SM-P610. How is the ROM compared to stock? How is the battery life compared to stock (is it better, worse, or abut the same)? Is it faster than stock? What is the amount of free RAM compared to stock? Could I see some pictures of the UI and such? Thank you.
It boots in barely 7 secs sometimes I forget that my device run on battery lol and its super fast.
On One UI it stutter and freeze too many times even for basic apps ! But it almost never stutter on Lineage

Is it good in terms of gaming?
I have some problems, the first is when trying to install Magisk and Safety net fix, I decided to skip these steps, but after installing everything properly and restarting, it restarts itself and I go to the boot loader menu
It is a good custom ROM but ram management is very poor, it took half of the RAM, if I remembered correctly my remaining RAM was at 500mb+
In result, the phone is very laggy especially when you changed something on the homescreen. Please keep improving the stability and also RAM management because I really like the overall design of it too!
Also the model of the phone is I think Mi 9T
When you pull down the notification shade, its vey laggy too considering the phone is just ok in terms of its processor

Remember it's a port
Don't consider high performance or best RAM management
Maybe something's will improve in next update or maybe not

What's the best Android 12(.1) ROM?

Hi, I'm currently using miui 12.5 (android 10), and I'd like to "renovate" my lavender with a new and updated custom rom. Which one is the best, regarding battery life, performance, smoothness, stability?
I've read few posts about Pixel Experience, AwakenOS and crDroid. I'm a bit concerned about possible battery drain problems. Thanks for your help

So far I've only tried AwakenOS and ArrowOS and it looks like ArrowOS has better battery life.
But I've read positive experiences with SparkOS, so maybe you can try SparkOS.
In the while I tried ArrowOS and the battery life is indeed exceptional! I'm very satisfied

I have used both arrow os and spark os. Each of them for a week now.
Note that I have a 3gb ram phone.
Spark os felt a bit laggy. For example when I taped on a WhatsApp conversation to open it the animation felt not so smooth.
There are battery options to save more battery and other few nice extra features to tweak this and that as well. Spark OS has face unlock. Couldn't keep a few apps open because I got only about 400MB of free RAM.
Arrow OS on the other hand gave me less battery life. Maybe it's just me. But the whole ui was much smoother. Does not have face unlock. When I first installed it without updating firmware, I got about 800mb fee ram and now I have only 400mb left. (as much as spark os)
Hope this helps.
