Hi everyone,
The swipe up on the home screen to open search has been always switched on and perfectly working on my smartphone. It is a Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition already with MIUI 12 installed. The feature had always worked in the following way – when I swipe on the home screen bottom up, the mi browser (set to default browser) opened up it’s start page which was perfect and exactly what I wanted. From about a month now without me changing anything it suddenly started opening the google app search instead which very much annoys me, as I would like it to open the Mi Browser once again. I spent much time exploring the various settings, but everything seems to be set up perfectly, thus I don’t know what caused the change and in fact the problem. I tried cleaning the app defaults, nothing works.
Could you please tell me what to do so that when I swipe up again, it opens the Mi Browser again, as now it opens automatically the Google app search?
Take care!

Anyone know whats wrong when chrome almost always opens new page as blank, it starts to load, then it just show blank page?
If you click on screen the page is in background and if you click in right place it opens links etc.
Only way to display page correctly is to press home button and open chrome again, then page shows up correctly.
Really annoying bug and happens many times a day! (tried both, normal and beta chrome)
[EDIT] this bug is not rom/phone related, my wifes nexus 5 with different rom has this too...

Yeah, same thing happening here. Also you can swipe left/right on the address bar, to change tab, and go back to "blank" one, now it will show correctly.
This start happening i think before 2 updates.
Though I haven't found anything about that bug. I tried cleaning both, data and cache, with no help.
Been getting it a lot lately, not sure if it was a chrome update or the fact I've been dirty flashing custom roms lately.
I was so mad with this bug, that i tried clean flash, and first page i tried to open was empty... :|
Fun fact, happens alot on the desktop version, atleast for me but I think it has to do with flash.
It's down to chrome itself, not the rom.
If I remember correctly, I had it even while using 4.4.2, now I'm on 4.4.3
As I mentioned, bug was here from last 2 or 3 chrome update.
Also, I don't have this problem in chrome on my pc.
Since updating to Oxygen OS 2.1.2, I am experiencing a little delay/lag (tiny, but noticeable) in the following 3 scenarios:
1.) Launching apps from the launcher (Google Now Launcher as well as stock launcher). The app's icon blinks a moment later after I've actually tapped on it. So, the app launches late.
2.) On pressing the back button or recent apps button, the phone responds a little late.
3.) Several times home button does not take me to the homescreen in first attempt. I have to tap it twice before the phone responds.
4.) On waking the phone, the screen turns on only about a second later after the back/recent-apps buttons' backlight has turned on.
Even after 2.2.0 update, this problem persists.
I tried factory reset several times, and within a few minutes the problem came back after setting up my google account.
I tried Boeffla kernel, and still no effect.
I've disabled quite a few useless apps like Google Play Movies & TV, Google Photos, Google Play Newsstand, Google Drive, Slides/Docs/Sheets, Google+, etc.
I don't have Google Now or "Ok Google" on.
There were no problems at all till Oxygen 2.1.1
But now, since 2.1.2 the phone is doing the "actions" slower than a moto g 1st gen.
By actions I mean, the above 4 scenarios/tasks.
There is no lag at all when you are "inside" the apps.
Any suggestions?
for your porblem with the launcher just install nova or apex or another launcher you like and try it again
if it appeard after you added your google account just check it if thers anything that sync there
try Oxyslim its like Oxygen OS but no bloadwaer and some nice tuning
Coming to your second problem, when you enable any functions like double tap on recents and back button, you will face a delay while using those buttons.
I would also suggest u to disable all functions that the home button has, that makes the home button extremely faster, atleast did it for me

Hello, after a lot of search I still can't find a solution.
When choose „minimize" there is no little square on top of screen, it just disappear. Another thing is there is no pin next to X symbol so I can't pin it as widget. But this may be non stock launcher issue. So far, no solution is working. I remeber it was working fine. Now, when I minimize a note and it disappear I have to create another one, which is not showing as it is not created , then I have to click air command then S-pen window, sometimes twice, and after closing Spen window minimized note appears! Who knows why this works this way and not working the way it should?
I don't know if this will be permanent but I found solution, working so far!
I changed color of action memo background and I can minimize memo and it stays on top.
So on my note 4 long pressing the home button opened up the Google application. Now with the v20 though it opens up an overlay. However, about half the time or more that I long press the home button, the overlay doesn't open or it immediately closes or when I try searching for something it randomly deletes everything I've typed and closes my keyboard. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?
The overlay was a change introduced in Android 6 and later called Google now on tap. As far as the issues you speak of I can't say that I have any problems with the way the app works at all. Perhaps it could be attributed to use error. Could it be you don't fully know how now in tap is supposed to work and what makes it different than the older push to open Google now shortcut on Android before Android 6?
I suggest a quick "Google" for Google now on tap so that you understand what has changed and how it exactly is supposed to work.

@EROMITLAB No, I'm fully aware of how it works and how to use it. I was also aware of why the overlay was changed. I'm not attempting to use the now on tap portion, nine times out of ten I'm only ever trying to quickly get to Google and perform a basic search and the white square will appear around the end of the screen as if it's going to open or when I go to search it will just close. Yes, definitely user error. How could I ever be so foolish as to not know how to use Google. Clearly I'm the reason the app won't load or even occasionally pops up with a force close.

No need to mock me I was honestly just trying to help. There are occasional post from folks in here who aren't as tech savvy as the majority of people in these forums. Sorry you felt disrespected or insulted.
Anyway no I don't have these issues at all with the V20. Sorry about your luck.

Hmm, just tried it out and it works like it should for me. On a Tmo V20.

I have the same problem. It's definitely not just you! Although, mine never force closes and always opens the overlay search box, it ALWAYS closes out my search after typing a few characters, and then I have to start again. Frustrating.

Hey, I just tried something and it's an acceptable workaround for me. Hold down the home key until the overlay search box appears and wait a few seconds to let it calm down. Then tap the menu button at the bottom right corner of the screen and choose Settings. Now toggle off the first menu item to disable Now On Tap.
Once that's done, long-pressing the home key will launch the standard Google application, and you can start typing immediately without getting kicked out.

I get the same issue when trying to type into the Google Now on Tap. I'll begin typing then after a few seconds the keyboard will disappear along with what I typed in. I've seen one person say that it was Nova Launcher and once they switched it, the issue was gone. That did not work for me.

Dude, just do what I suggested in the post directly above yours. Turn off Now On Tap and you're all good.
from time to time I got my backscreen all black, mirroring still works but unable to bring back the widgets, usually I restarted the device to recover but now I have found a much more simple solution, just launch the tutorial, and the widgets are back !
hi, i have the same problem, currently running Lollipop.
I've find out that when this happens you can "refresh" the backscreen by launching the YotaHub app and do a long press on the home button, then swipe to the refresh icon on the left.
Still don't know what causes this issue
