His account is disabled atm, so I don't think it matters at all now He's complained quite a bit on a kernel thread about it already, and was already presented with an option to change the throttling on his own (perhaps someone should just send him that method that was already mentioned and get $50 lol), but still proceeded to "troll".
In any case, disabling thermal throttling is... probably not ideal. Tweaking it slightly may help, but totally disabling it will probably just lead to some part of the device not taking kindly to the heat (I imagine the LCD screen first, followed by the back plastic).
If you have a modified back and heatsink solution though, I'd say go for it (not that I'm responsible for whatever might happen though).
Well, I, for one, would be entertained by seeing pictures of the back of an N10 with a nice big molten bulge on the case over where the Exnos used to be.

What's "girlies" got to do with anything?? Are you implying that girls are happy with small and slow?? Judging by your probable life experiences, you should know that's not true.
I only wish op could see desktop cooling systems. My gaming rig has (and most people's) have massive cpu heat sinks. Laptops have the same problem as this. Surely bypassing the heat sensors that protect your processor and your tablet will eventually lead to you melting your processor.

I have laptops from 2003 and 2006 that did not throttle... they did run pretty hot too. My friend has a gaming laptop too that also, does not throttle.
I'm sure the chip itself has some kind of rated max temperature, but the chip itself is not the only thing to worry about. You have the back plastic, that flimsy piece of plastic around the camera area, the LCD screen, other neighboring chips, etc.
A heatsink would direct the heat of the chip, safely past any other component of concern, but a (decent) heatsink does not exist on the N10. I would of just put some kind of heatsink thing across the entire top part of the tablet (where the detachable plastic is), since, under normal use, you hands don't go up that high anyway. That way, heat wouldn't just be built-up in one concentrated area, but who knows, maybe there is some reason Samsung chose not to do it that way.
I can't believe this phone can't handle a game like Pocket Fleet. It starts off ok, but after playing for a while it starts overheating and fps can go down to 10fps......10!!!
This is ridiculous, sorry I need to blow off steam. Wasted a lot of money on this phone, disappointed with Samsung, sold a lie.

i don't think so lol, maybe you can try to go to a samsung store, test a exynos device, and it's more likely that you'll have to sell your device to buy the exynos variant... try to talk with a samsung saler or the waranty.. ask for your money back... idk, maybe works hehe

Did you install OTA or flashed via ODIN? In case you installed via OTA make factory reset.
At my N910C I installed via ODIN and before flashing I make wipe of data and cache from stock recovery.
Here all ok, device run perfectly.
Flash AEL Kernel , on 4.4.4 not on lollipop yes , you will , that lag will be gone had same problem with stock kernel , also you can try to lock and unlock your screen to remove that lag on game !

Did you factory reset or just upgrade from kitkat? You have to factory reset to get smoothest operation. That made a big difference for me.

Doing a factory reset does not fix the overheating when playing, which then throttles your game until it's unplayable. Everything on the surface seems to work ok, which is an illusion... play a game like Pocket Fleet and watch it deteriorate over time.
Most of games are perfectly playable in powersaving mode. Limited maximum cpu clock frequency in powersaving mode may prevent phone from overheating

You are joking? Thanks, but it doesn't work. And why the freaking *?!*#@* should I have to limit this supposed "monster" beast of a phone to make a simple game work? Any gamers out there who know what they're talking about, and found any solutions apart from adding a rom please? I'm rooted with stock freaking lollipop.
It must just be Monday morning. I may be OK tomorrow. Thanks.
So we all know that the Z3+ would shut down after a few mins of recording 4k
Videos.
I work at O2 and we just got our Z5's in stock.
I managed to record 4k video for over 30 mins and the phone only got warm. Which is really good! Whatever Sony have done, they did a good job and I salute them! Definitely getting this phone asap!
awesome

I got my Z5 yesterday and I found it getting hot when performing cpu intensive stuff like updating the apps etc.
And my Z3 doesn't get hot performing exactly the same actions.

If it gets hot to the touch then that's probably a good thing, It means heat is being taken away from the CPU/GPU and transfered to the frame of the phone effectively.

Performance is better than the Z3 and one improvement I noticed immediately was the sound.
But I haven't tested it much as I am waiting for my unlock code to arrive.

Issues with overheating and shutdown being reported over at Overclockers UK forums in the Sony Xperia Z5 thread so it's not as rosy as you paint.
One has been returned:

I am just pointing out the experience that I have had, I dont guarantee that everyone will have the same cheerful experience
Z5 owner
I have had this phone for a while, at first with out root and now with and I can't think of any reason I would need nor won't to send it back. I have done close to 30 minutes 4K video recording at times with the phone only getting warm and has never over heated and turned off once in my experience.
I booted up GTA SA on absolute max settings (100% resolution, draw distance, etc) and sure enough the phone could handle it pretty smoothly. The touch controls were terrible so I connected my PS4 controller and played for about 10 minutes, when I was finished and checked the temperature it was uncomfortably warm - I'm not sure if it was overheating but it was way to hot to be considered comfortable.
The phone the entire time was being propped up by my keyboard, I didn't handle it after connecting my controller so it had good ventilation around the phone, if I had been holding it I think it would have began throttling if it hadn't already. I will install GTA on my Z1 and compare temp differences with that app.

I can't speak for gaming, but video playback is pretty amazing since I usually only watch 720hdp or greater. Despite all of the apps Amazon has running nearly 100% of the time, in my opinion this tablet vastly under uses the CPU. If you look around and find the threads to uninstall system apps, you can free up a significant portion of wasted memory. Truthfully, not many questions come across this section of XDA relating to gaming.
Thanks am very sceptical about this anyway it's only a couple of quid so might just buy and check it out.

You also have a 30 day period to try it or send it back. It works to replace, but not sure about refund.
Playing Genshin impact on max settings makes my phone uncomfortably hot... as in borderline "ouch!" hot. A bit like accidentally leaving your phone in direct sunlight.
GPU and CPU temps both reach near 80c after around 10 minutes (this is without a case, and ambient around 68F).
Is this something I should worry about for extended play or are these devices able to handle that kind of heat?
Needless to say I'm going to tune it back a bit in the meantime lol
The phone will tell you when it's too hot for operating.
Personally my phone when left overnight will drop to anything as low as 25c which rivals my PC.
Flicking about on the web and using light apps like XDA, Google etc my phone runs about 32-38
Gaming it'll be in the 40s if light, 50s if heavy.
Anything over that you're heating the whole phone, including the battery, eventually the CPU / GPU will throttle.
I think 60s is as high as I'd like to have it, anything more and you will develop issues faster than a person who doesn't do this to their phone will.
Time x heat= death
It's up to you how fast you want that to happen.
My advice, play for shorter times, lower screen resolution to FHD if you haven't already, 60hz will prolong the time it takes to get warmer and will cool more efficiently.
Ultimately there's not a lot you can do.
If you plan to game a lot, you should be fine, but it will degrade the phone over time.
PA: personally I don't trust genshin. Feels like it has too many permissions and frankly I don't trust it. Can you play it completely offline? They may help if so

Thank you for the insight man. I'll def try 60hz FHD since the game locks at a high of 60fps anyways. Not looking to destroy my phone anytime soon, that's for sure!
To tell you the truth I don't trust Genshin either, and unfortunately it's an online only game. Has anyone ever figured out a way to spoof permissions on an app? That would be great for less trustworthy apps.
I guess at times I feel like I'm secure because I'm using adaway with some good comprehensive block lists that also block tracking servers, malware, etc. But I'm sure theres a lot more to it than that.

No worries man, thing with that game is it looks great, kind of like breath of the wild mixed with dark souls, but the online thing is ridiculous.. why ? It's a single player for the most part right?
Could suppose crack it, but that would take some talent to achieve.
Just keep an eye on your temps when gaming, should be fine..gaming mode seems to help a bit.
Be nice to get an active cooler for the phone.
Do you play without a case?

Indeed it is mostly a single player game, the online aspect is mostly for the microtransactions I believe.
I would love to get an active cooler for this phone kind of like the ASUS ROG. Do they make one? If not I've had the thought to have someone I know with a 3d printer to create one from scratch. (I'll keep the forum posted if I do)
I've only really had temp issues with Genshin so it's the only game I really take my case off for. I kid you not, it creates more heat than any benchmark I've ever ran.

Aye it was, you'll love there's some beauties on it and they all run at a solid 60, phone doesn't come either.
I've underclocked my cores by one notch
Eg: Cluster 1
Stock: min - 1000 max 1800
Tweaked: min - 300 max 1700
Same with the 2 clusters only you can't get to 300, they're 700 + 800 respectively and 100MHz off the top end speeds.
Doesn't affect performance but does lower thermals, have had 11 hours SOT this way with Elemental X, governor was conservative..
Pics in the SOT and EX threads.
I've left instructions to a user on YouTube for installation. It's easier then retroarch.

It's the dodgiest emulator in the world, they stole code from another free project then closed their project down.
Several cases ongoing over the last few years.
It's £10 I think, tbh the PS2 wasn't that good. I'd rather just buy the console.
The other PS2 emulators do run but they're slow and unplayable even on the 8 Pro, that damon2 emu is dodgy as anything.
Needs to make calls, see your contacts and be online all the time? I bought it, titanium backed up then refunded it. It does work well enough to play but at what cost.
I'll pass, the games are listed on dig but unplayable at the moment

Yep got it in one. The guys who made those emulators are a talented bunch and they haven't hidden their talent away to profit from it, I have a lot of respect for them and their work so you can imagine my thoughts on the thieves.
And yes I agree If an app is good, of course I'll pay for it, if theres an ad free alternative I'll pay usually..
Have been stung before though.
SPB shell 3D was a crazy launcher which looked awesome at the time.
It was £9.50 and I bought it, now it's been pulled so you can't even install it anymore.
I think the Devs of pcsx2 will probably surpass Damon at some point, but it's an open pot for them to cherry pick what they want, absolutely ruins open source
