I want install Magisk on Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G9500) Snapdragon android 9.0 Pie.
I know the step to root like this:
1. Unlock OEM. (Success)
2. Flash twrp (Success)
3. Wipe Format Data (Success)
4. Install Magisk (Success)
5. Reboot (bootloop) Failed
I use the offical twrp (twrp-3.4.0-0-dreamqlte.img.tar), I try lots of Magisk(Magisk-v18.1.zip,Magisk-v19.3.zip,Magisk-v20.4.zip) . But no success. I don't know why? I think the twrp version is not important. Which Magisk verison is right?
I also find the way to decrypt data with "RMM State Bypass" and "No Verify Opt Encrypt ZIP". but it's also failed. I think this way is for the Exynos phone.
I don't know how can I to do for rooting it. Is there any one can help me? Thank you.
Having the exact same problem with the SM-G9500, seems like everything installs flawlessly but get a bootloop after installing Magisk. Am able to install and boot with TWRP + no-verity, but adding Magisk to the install just puts it into a bootloop.

I was waiting for a root enabler for oreo (41.3.A.2.24), and I could find https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x-performance/how-to/guide-stock-kernel-root-twrp-drm-fix-41-t3711837.
But this link is for version 41.3.A.0.401 and it does not work for everybody including me.
Since androplus still didn't bring out a new version of his kernel I tried the method from the above link.
But I'm using newer versions than in the description, I use TWRP 3.2.0, Magisk manager 5.2.2 and Magisk 15.2.
I can install the new version, twrp, the new boor image and Magisk 15.2.
I can boot and Magisk runs but the Safetynet control failes and Magisk does not enable root.
On the installation of the boot image, twrp and magisk I got some messages (marked in red)
unable to mount storage
failed to mount
Before I tried with magisk manager 5.5.1 and magisk 15.1 but then I got stuck at boot time at the sony logo.
Does anybody have a way to root Oreo (the latest version), enable DRM and enable root?
Ok I started all over again and I noticed I didn't follow the procedure first time.
So I excluded the FOTA kernel but whatever else I check no full wipe is done, I can always see the previous installed apps, it does not matter if I check Cust-reset, master-reset or reset-wipe-reason, the system is not wiped.
So that's my first problem, how to wipe the previous install.
Flashing the rom seems to be OK, same thing for flashing boot_oreo.img and twrp-3.1.1-0-dora.img.
I'm not sure about twrp 3.2.0.0 because this version is off-line now, so I tried with TWRP 3.1.1.0 and 3.2.1.0 but they all gave me the same result.
Problems start when I have to flash drmfix.zip, safety-net cleaner or magisk 15.2. The procedure tells me the flash is ok but have a look at thet attached images, I get errors while flashing. One picture for drmfix, one for safety-net-cleaner and one for magisk 15.2
After flashing all of this I can boot successfully but when I try to get root in ES File Explorer pro, it does not work. When I go into Magisk and try the afety-net check I get ctsProfile false and basicIntegrity False.
So the rom does work but I do not get root.
I tried all of this with the Italian rom 41.3.A.2.24.R1E ? I can start all over again with the UK version 41.3.A.2.24.R2E but I do not know if this makes any sense.
So can anybody tell me what to do to get it all going?

1 - Do use always Adrian DC latest fully working TWRP build for dora.
2 - You don't need a 3rd party kernel to achieve that, instead, you can easily create your own one, based always on stock kernel!
Thats the SELinux's problem.
Flash this first then flash magisk

Oneplus 5, Official ROM, H2OS, Android 7.1
1. First time, I followed https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877 and successfully install TWRP and root using Supersu. I can goes into TWRP recovery without any problem. I notice that the supersu I installed in a systemless one, some apps can't get root access, like AD Away, Titanium Backup. But most apps can work with it. I used the one of the two root method in that tutorial as follows:
For Users who want to remain Encrypted:
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery and allow system modifications.
2. Swipe right and enable modifications.
3. Select your preferred Language, Tap “Never show this screen on boot again,” and Swipe allow modification.
4. Navigate to Install and select Magisk Or SuperSU to root OnePlus 5.
5. Swipe to confirm the flash
6. Reboot System

2. After several months I want to upgrade the original H2OS to new version, so I unroot in Supersu first, when it ask me if I want to recover Boot Image, I say "Yes", and say "NO" when ask me if I want to recover Recovery Image. Then I upgrade to the new H2OS v13 (Android 7.1) using the Full package through TWRP, after that I reinstall TWRP 3.2.1, it was successful. But it doesn't ask me to allow it to make modification. I tried to install Supersu 2.82 and 2.82 SR5 using the same method as in tutorial, at the end of "Booting Image patcher" it shows
.........
-Calling user ramdisk patch script
---Failure, aborting
-Unmounting /system and /vender

Then I reboot to recovery, it return to official REC, not TWRP, and system says there is no root.

Just use the latest universal codeworks recovery and flash it via fastboot.
For root i suggest use of Magisk over Su, the latest 15.3 works fine for me.
What is the codeworks recovery? Is it "twrp-3.2.1-0-cheeseburger.img" on https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplus5.html?

I have the same problem
have you been root?
I patched the boot image using Magisk Manager app and flashed it using Odin. I can't post externals links yet, so PM me if you need help
Thanks @0Dias for the help. I was able to root stock pie with Magisk.
Hi, How did you get to install twrp and also root android 9.0? Would you mind sharing the tutorial you used for doing it?
Steps I took:
Install Pie via Odin
Used Miracle box to remove RMM prenormal ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-rmm-fix-oreo-8-1-oem-unlock-fix-dez-t3877764 ) and flashed TWRP recovery ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...730f-fm-g-gm-x-samsung-galaxy-j7-pro-t3835629 )
Boot to TWRP> select to keep system read only> Wipe>Format Data> Go back and reboot to recovery >
Install no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 zip file >install RMM bypass zip file ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75514982&postcount=2 ) >
Install magisk zip ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 ) > install RMM bypass a second time> reboot to system
Thank you @strai

Get it here [ ROOT ] Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G/SM-J730GM/SM-J730F Android 9 Pie with Magisk Canary Release
I have OP6T OxygenOS 9.0.16 and I would like to update it to the latest 10.3.3 with root.
What should be my process of doing so? I have not been in touch with rooting for the past 3 years so I don't want to mess things up. Another note is that while I am on OxygenOS 9.0.16 I tried to root it which was failed, but now few banking and calling apps such as TextNow thinks that my phone is rooted and they can not run -- but my phone is not properly rooted according to root verification apps.
Please tell me how should I do the update to the latest version from this point and then I would like to unlock bootloader and install recovery and root it as well.
Please advice.
BTW my OP6T is global

Flash OOS full rom zip on both slots using TWRP also flash TWRP installer zip on both slots reboot recovery flash magisk reboot system. Easy peasy.
Example:
Boot recovery: fastboot boot twrp.img
flash OOS 10.3.3 full rom zip
flash TWRP installer zip, reboot recovery,
flash OOS 10.3.3 full rom zip, format data, wipe data,
flash TWRP installer zip
Reboot recovery, flash magisk,
reboot system.
Note: I use a USB stick. I flash magisk zip off my USB stick.
That's what I do when I use OOS on my 6t far as installation goes.

Are you sure there is no need to update to 9.0.17 and then 10.3.3?
I've asked once and someone said that 9.0.17 is neccessary before update to 10.3.x.
Also there is option to flash from system without losing magisk modules:
1. Flash manually from update center (do not reboot)
2. Enter magisk and flash to another slot (after OTA)
3. Flash TWRP installer like magisk module
4. Reboot
But I'm not sure if I remember it correctly.

10.3.3 is all that you need. 9.0.17 isn't the only way anymore.

I have a T-Mobile SIM unlock OnePlus 6t and I converted it to an international model so when my conversation was done I was on OOS 9.0.1.1 and I booted TWRP and installed 10.3.4 full rom on both slots and also recovery installer and all just like my previous posts stated and everything went fine. I used mauronofrio's TWRP the version just before the latest 3.4xx when I did this.
I always download quite a bit of various firmwares and also TWRP versions before I start flashing things just in case something goes wrong I already have other things maybe I can use and I don't have to stop and wait for some download to finish... And I'm quite sure you know this but definitely make a backup of everything beforehand to USB or transfer it to your pc just in case you end up needing it as a precaution.
Edit added:
I am assuming that you already unlocked your bootloader... I believe everyone knows to do that that's on XDA forums before you can do anything to any device .. I say this after reading post below me here. I guess I should have said that earlier but I just assume everyone knows that on the forums... My bad. ??
From fastboot on Linux PC:
sudo fastboot oem unlock (then hit enter on keyboard) use volume keys to move to unlock option and your Power button to select it and confirm. For more info see: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t-unlock-bootloader-root/
Super easy to unlock bootloader just remember it does wipe your device clean so move anything to want to PC or USB stick first...
I would think you could just update oxygenOS to latest then re-root no? Assuming your already bootloader unlocked which it seems like would be the case if you have an obsolete magisk installation.
Edit: re-reading your post maybe it is not unlocked as you failed to root. In this case just unlock then flash the latest fastboot image and then magisk as others have already stepped you through. You will lose data when you unlock so backup first.
So if I'm on 9.0.16 I could flash latest OOS directly from TWRP and then flash magisk? And no data loss? Of course I'm rooted with bootloader unlocked.
Oh dear this process is getting harder because recently I was busy doing other things it sounds way harder it actually is. Isnt there a way I pay someone on this forum so that user help me do this. Like download stuff links and proper version and follow me up with it because i want to do this without messing things up!

It is indeed a tough job. This A/B partition has had a lot of people bootloop/soft bricked their phones.
However, you need not pay anybody anything. If you are on stock, I would've recommended you upgrading it via Oxygen updater (a 3rd party app on the play store) and then using the latest recoveries (TWRP 3.4) and flashing it via Fastboot mode.
It is super easy.
Hi, I wanted to finally root my phone so I followed the Magisk guide but it's prereq. is to install TWRP first and apparently the official S8 firmware which my phone has (Android 9)
triggers 'auto recovery restore system' every time the phone resets effectively making it imposible to enter TWRP mode 'cos it replaces it with stock recovery mode
So the TWRP guide says I can fix this by deleting a certain system file which, you guessed right, requires root...so I'm stuck in a loop
Any ideas how to deal with one or the other? Is using an older root method like SuperSU the only way since flashing an older or custom OS requires TWRP again
Just wanna root my S8 G950F

Sounds like you haven't install twrp correctly.
What guide are you using and how have you actually tried to install twrp.
If using magisk there are two ways of installing, one with twrp one without twrp.
