I found this on a T-mobile forum page. I don't know if I can post links yet so I'll just quote it:
There is no "locked" version.
They all come carrier "unlocked.
One is with contract and one is without.
This is no different than the N1.
It's not a Tmobile branded phone but Tmobile is only offereing the service

yeah, because i want the stock gingerbread so much
They're unlocked
They're $529.99
And hopefully best buy is cool. They treated me badly here... Sucks because they lost my business in the future.
I was doing reading and the new Pixel phones are supposed to have the SD 821 onboard. I am sure when an RUU is released that we would be unable to flash that on an S-off device like I did to get my unlocked HTC 10 to vzw. Would we be able to port the Pixel software to our HTC 10 VZW (SD 820). Hopefully someone is already thinking about this. it would be a very cool thing to have.

Point was that folks that don't know what they are talking about won't recognize themselves as being the persons you asked to not post.
This is an internet forum requiring no credentials nor training to participate; and it cost you nothing to post. So you'll probably get your money's worth.
Have a good day.
NO the note will NOT work, software wouldn't be a problem with mod the problem is a lack of hardware

Well, it's where Google itself is going.
I like how your poll doesn't have yes as an option. Are you that much of a crybaby? It's a private company. You may not like it, but it's not your choice.

Yeah but no one will buy their product due to the non root capability.

What do you mean it's not my choice? I have the choice of buying their product or not, and call me whatever you want but the intention of the poll is to show how many people dislike the decision, maybe you can see it for yourself
Let's all calm down a bit. This news is unfortunate to hear.

Didn't say you couldn't buy or not buy one of their phones lol. The intention of your poll is to be a **** because you're upset. The fact is only a tiny fraction that buy phones unlock the bootloader and it's simply not cost effective. This is Huawei. The number ONE leader in the world for smartphones and you think a few people are going to sway them? Get over yourself. You sign their ToS when you set up THEIR phone. But hey, if you don't like something I guess instead of being an adult and moving on you should complain like a spoiled brat because you think you're special.

Look man I can guarantee you that removing the ability to unlock the bootloader isn't going to harm Huawei/Honor's business one bit. They may lose about 500-1000 or even 2000 customers but that's nothing compared to their 40+ million customers. They're doing this claiming it is for ensuring that data isn't stolen and the system will continue preforming well. The ordinary Android user will think oh wow they're enhancing security, Huawei is great!
Take Nokia for example. They haven't bothered with enabling bootloader unlocking on several of their models and yet they sell like hotcakes in India.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Huawei still makes one of the cheapest phones compared to their capabilities and there are unofficial (paid, but still cheap) ways to unlock the bootloader. I don't approve their decision, but it won't affect my decision when changing the phone. Not to mention devs will most probably find a way to omit the bootloader lock some way, just like they did with LG's G2, which is one of the most legendary phone on XDA. As long as they're releasing Oreo, I'm okay with this.
BTW - this is one of the most non-informative title of the thread I have ever seen, most forums would ban for such a thing.
Huawei doesn't care about what people think. If 50 people on XDA say they're not happy and will never buy Huawei again I guarantee you there are 500 new customers lined up and ready to buy one.
Is there anyone here who bough a Huawei device for it's wonderful modding capabilities?

I definitely don't understand what the xda/honor """partnership""" is about if Huawei prevents bootloader unlocking from now on.

Same here dude..infact I got the Honor 8 early last year thinking that the partnership will bring about a lot opportunities in new Rom development
But frankly disappointed.. don't see any help with the partnership from the outside
I think that "partnership" lasted about 1 day.
Check out OnePlus rom development without partnership...
I have downloaded my code before they'll stop the unlock service forever

Goodbye Nexus 6 community and goodbye to the wonderful Nexus 6 developers. I've had a Nexus 6 for quite some time but I've had hardware issues with my last Nexus 6 so I decided to try out the 1+ 6T (which is an amazing phone for the cost), but I wanted to give a shout out to the XDA Nexus 6 community and to the developers that made (and make) the phone stay contemporary. Thank you!
i am also thinking about going the 1+ way myself. i am gonna wait till the 1+7 and 1+7P are released in a few days and see what they will cost.

i would love the pro but i think it is going to be super expensive for a oneplus product.
i also have mixed feelings about the pop up selfie cam.
An alternative might be the Pixel 3a XL. Price and performance should be relatively close to that of the N6 with a far better camera, and it still has a headphone jack. The only real downside I can see is that one of the speakers is bottom-firing.
the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the 1+6t is the fact i am stuck on the vzw network and i live out in the sticks in central NJ
i dont have LTE where i live and apparently the oneplus doesnt have wifi calling enabled.
i also jumped to to the oneplus. i have the 5t and love it. i have no regrets. it was the best option since most nexus after the 6 went smaller and more expensive. i'll probably go to the oneplus 6t, now that 7 is about to release and prices will drop. i still miss my shamu though. i even keep it updated on rr just in case i break or lose this phone which is also on rr. really was the best nexus phone in my opinion. pixel can't compare...
