NBA video stutter - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, I recently bought the OnePlus 8 Pro and I have an issue in NBA app where the video is stuttering while I watch games.
Anybody else has this issue?

Do you have motion smoothing on?

Tried with FHD, QHD, 60Hz, 120Hz, motion smoothing, hyper motion, ... I have tried all possible combinations. The video is stuttering only when streaming. If I download the game beforehand then video plays perfectly.

No idea pal.. Must be the app

Choppy streaming video playback

Hi All,
I have noticed a disturbing trend on my new Note 3. The streaming video playback is pretty terrible with just about everything except youtube. Has anyone else experienced this or do I likely have a bad unit? Thanks.

This is sort of expected behavior as apps need to be updated to utilize the Note 3's hardware decoder otherwise it has to be decoded in software which is slower and more battery consuming. What apps and what codec is the video encoded in?
Hmmm it seems strange that poor web video playback would be expected on a device targeted toward video consumers. I have encountered this with every streaming video I have tried to play in both Chrome and the built-in browser, with the exception of Youtube videos.
Have you tired Dice Player? Watching Pacific Rim 1080p right now
Only choppy video is from YouTube. I downloaded a few 1080p movies and trailers and they run flawlessly. So I'm assuming it's the youtube app needing to be updated as well as what exothermic video apps. Mx player works fine as well as the stock player

Does the Nexus 6P do slow motion video?

I watched the live event, and I swear there was a quick blurp on slow motion video capabilities, but I can't find any videos to support it.
Also is slow-mo video driven by hardware or software, does M make it possible, or the camera???
Thanks in advance.
Yes 240fps at 720p

yes, its the camera / CPU / RAM making it possible.
Up to 240FPS on the 6P, and up to 120FPS on the 5X

Nice!

when a slow-mo video is recorded. does the mp4 file get created with slow-mo video as the normal playback?
what I mean is. if i were to connect phone to computer, and copy/paste that mp4 file to the PC, and then play the video on the computer. Would it play in slow motion? or is the Google Camera app just remembering to playback that specific video in slow-mo? and it does (yet the actual video is regular motion playback when viewed on the computer) ??

Having the same exact issue on my tmobile s7 edge. Choppy dropped frames on 1440p and no 60fps option on any video. My s6 edge had no issues at all. Very frustrating.
Also another big I noticed is that Bluetooth audio is never in sync with video.
Uh oh
any with exynos soc that have this issue? SD820 guys, you have this problems?
Turn off Smart Stay in Display settings. That seemed to fix it for me.

Smart stay has always been disabled for me and I'm still getting lag and no 60 fps options
I took a video on 1080p 60 frames and noticed a little stutters here and there moving the camera around while shooting. I went and uploaded the video to YouTube so I can see the results on the YouTube player and it was horrible. Majot stutter and jumping around. Played it again, and the next time was not so bad. Sounds like YouTube is having some issues on their side.
Tried again on 4K mode also.
Anyone else experience some micro stutters when capturing videos on their new S7 Edge? This is without a memory card and directly saving photos/videos on the device internal memory.
YouTube has been wonky in general as of late... 1440p and 1080p/60 was unreliable on my LG V10 as well...

Think it is mandatory to put some kind of videos into a wide and fast SD card if you don't want to experience stuttering

Yeah, I have a class 10 card on its way this week
It's a known bug from the SD820 version (or all the ones using the SD820 chipset currently). Possibly tied to Qualcomm's own codecs.

No issues here. Im on exynos
I have no problems with 2K or with 60FPS video.
Movies at 60FPS just look wierd to me.
I have pretty significant compression artifacts in blue colours (i.e. sky, ocean) at 60FPS 1080p. 4K felt stuttery.
It seems like others are suffering from it too.
I always film in 60fps, as it gives you a lot more to play with in editing suite

Youtube issue

I can't play video on HD on my axon 7 using the youtube app only max 480p. Anyone whit the same problem?
Edit: after some test i've discovered that using youtube app i can't watch video on 720p60 neither 1080p60 but only "standard" HD video. Is that normal?
Nope I don't have that issue
I noticed that too. It was there before. Now it's gone.

I found out the problem. The latest YouTube update screwed up the video quality options. HTC M10 users are having the same problem.
Not got that issue, got the sound sync issue though.
This is a YouTube issue. I looked up other devices that had this issue and it turns out that the Samsung Galaxy S7 had the problem just after launch. It took two months to fix it.
Looks like the video quality issue is a YouTube problem. I used Dailymotion and I can change between 720p60fps and 1080p60fps.
I have this issue. It's really annoying. The image freezes and the audio carries on. Only happens with hd content.
Is this still affecting anyone else?
I have had my ZTE Axon 7 for 10 days and experiencing the same problem. The visuals on YouTube videos are stuttering or freezing completely when playing 4K videos at 1440p at 30fps or 60fps. I have also experienced it on 1080p 60fps. This causes the audio to fall out of sync. I have compared it to my Samsung Note 4 and S7 Edge and have no problem playing same video. I have even factory reset phone to no avail. Emailed Gearbest (supplier) and ZTE (No help) and offered me an exchange or refund but have no stock. Really like the phone so don't want a refund on something for an problem I believe can be fixed as seems like a software issue. Great Value phone!

A7 Video applications performance:
Decode 60fps 1080p HEVC/H.264/VP8/VC1/MP4
Encode 30fps 1080p H.264/VP8/MP4 30fps 480p H.263
WFD (Miracast) 1080p30 decode + 1080p30 encode
what's the vedeo format you play with? thanks~

Question High quality video lagging (look like drop fps)

DMM high quality VR video (and 4k video) very lagging (look like drop fps). I don't know how to it happen. Like GPU can't handle but my Redmi Note 10 Pro playing well
I tested on youtube, AiywjdYcQ_s is the link, at 4k i cannot see any lag in the video, are you maybe watching a x265 video with high bitrate? As that would result in chuppy playback.
I tried a 4k x265 mkv in VLC(on this phone 12gb model) it was a sample with very good picture about 3 mins long running smooth, on TV it looked really good too.
High bitrate x265 files do lag but i don't have any for test.
