Problem after putting apps on SD

Hello,
I'm brand new at Linux (actually less than that) but I'm pretty tech savvy, so i figured if i rooted my phone by following instructions it wouldn't be too bad. well trying to make a long story short...
...rooted my phone, it worked, set programs to run from SD, it worked, then about an hour later I opened up lynda file manager and my phone crashed back to the original home ( i use ahome) I tried to go back into ahome but it didnt show up on my phone, as a matter of fact all of my apps where gone that came from the market. I decided to reset my phone figuring it was just a glitch with the file manager, and i found myself stuck at the blinking android of DOOM!!!! I was able to boot into safe mode, alt-w my phone and restart it.
...ok here is my question thru all of that mess, my 8gb SD card now shows that it is only 7gb and nothing about the 900mb that i turned into sk2 it is gone! I used paragon partition 9 to make it and it wont even show up in that. I want to retry to put apps on my SD, but if my card is gonna keep messing up i dont care to have to go thru all of the steps again.
...has this happened to anyone, or do you know anyway to fix(prevent) it from happening again?
thanks,
-tekka
ps please forgive any errors in this post for i am to tired to try and correct them. gnight everyone

firstly - not even sure what "tech savvy" means
secondly - when you move the apps to SD for the first time they are all still installed but do NOT show in the market .. they are reset as FREE until you install them a second time
thirdly - how are you checking partitions? because after you wiped the phone you have to redo the process to mount the EXT2 to the phone .. otherwise it seems to not exist
fourthly - fear not .. you are not the first to have this dilemma
busybox df -h
I've had to wipe and re wipe so many times now....good thing it's kinda fun I think I have my partition strait now and have verified my system\sd\apps and data folder.
Is there any way to make the phone still boot up at least if it looses that connection?

apps2sd problems with thedude's 1.3 rc2

can someone help me?? I have RC2.
I had to DL apps2sd, it didnt come with the ROM, but anyway, i have it now.
I formatted my SD card, then went to apps2sd and it told me to partition. i selected the size and it immediately popped up and said "done" I pushed the reboot button, phone rebooted , but when i go back to apps2sd, it says the same thing. when i try to type the commands in terminal emulator, that dont work either.
how do i get it working??
thanks
I would set your card up using something other than an app so you know its done right. I use ubuntu. Its easy and quick. Tut in my sig if you wanna try it.
ok, im pretty sure i dont wanna hear the answer to this but what do i do now that i accidentally partitioned my hard drive? vista wont boot now
p.s.- now my apps2sd works
I just answered your question in my other thread. I'm assuming you didn't choose your sd card and picked your hard drive. Need to reload windows. If you need help PM me.
pm sent
please respond to email addy i left in the message

I cant turn my phone off

For some reason i cant turn my phone off. I've used 5 different versions of android and the first two roms worked fine, i could turn my phone off normally and start android right up again. But for some reason i get the error cant find rootfs on root of sd card when i try and reboot my phone after the first boot. so basically my phone cant run out of battery otherwise i have to clear out my memory card and redo everything all over again.
i dont know why this is happening but i am currently running on Omega v13 gtx rom.
Please help me try and find a way to fix it because it really sucks having to reformat my memory card every time my phone dies. Thank you
Reformat (2 or 3 times) and reinstall.
Ensure you read the "readme" file from whatever rom you are using on the SD card.
Last ditch.... consider that HTC is sending new SD cards to those who call and complain their card is unrecognized. (You may have a bad card; and HTC will replace for free.... Search these forums for info).....
i've tried that and i still havent been able to get things fixed, and im pretty sure my sd card isnt defective since only the newer builds have been doing this

finding .apk's online

so i have decided no matter which build i use i can not instal weatherbug on it. it will download but will not instal. it simply stops the instal process after it downloads and wont instal. i tried the whole unmount sd card and all that and it will not work. not a huge deal but still anoying. then i tried to instal the mobile photobucket app and it does the same thing.
so i decide hey why not just download the apk online and instal them that way. well umm i cant find them anywhere. all i can find is the warewz sites and i dont want that. i dont trust them and dont want stuff messing up my phone. anyone know where to find the free versions of these and other apps online in apk form?

You need to fix your market download issue. Menu, applications, manage, all, scroll to market, delete data, force close, go back to market and get android id changer. Use that to change your id to something other than what is shown with same number of characters.
This of course assumes you are using froyo.
You can get you actual id ny flashing stock and using the app then save file which can then be used in the future
Swyped...and sorry I don't proofread
that worked. as a matter of fact it worked so well that the phone upon reboot would be stuck in a endless android logo loading loop and i had to reformat the sd card and start over.
on the bright side i dont know what went wrong the first time but this time with the same build both weatherbug and photobucket instaled form the market with no issues so yea
Your sd card had bad sectors, formatting corrected it
yea which is odd sense i did a full format of the card before i put this build on it. actually im using a 8gb level 8 card for this and keeping another build on the 16gb card that comes with the hd2 so if something happens and i dont have time to fix it i can just do a quick sd card switch and be good to go lol.
Not sure what would have caused the issue with your sd card or boot loop. Killing the market would not have that result. Not sure why changing your id would cause that either. I am glad you finally got it though even though it was not easy
Swyped...and sorry I don't proofread
yea its all good now. thanks for the help anyway.
