Is there a recent or maintaned ROM like AOKP? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I found this version: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...rom-aokp-rom-s4-i9505-oms-substratum-t3748163
However it seems not being maintained anymore.
Could someone suggest me a similar ROM with the following funcitons?. I want to have a Soft Key Navigation Bar (size changeable) and those customizations that come with AOKP (change DPI and so on). I also prefer 14.1. But as long as its AOKP (or similar) it would be fine.
Which official LOS versions do support a Soft Key Navigation? So far I tested LOS17 which has one but I could not find settings to make it smaller.
Well thanks a lot!

[Q] (Q) Is there cm10 rom with transparent status+notificationbar?

Is there ready rom with transparent status and notification bar?
I have tried find that mod, but i haven´t found..
And i have tried couple differend mods witch hasn´t been made in defy and usually phone stucks
What phone do you use? I have a Defy+, so this answer may not apply.
There are very few ROMs available to choose from (as most of them seem to come either from Quarx's CM10 or MIUI), and these do not include any notification transparency support.
What I did was to apply the update zip from this thread over Quarx's CM10 ROM (I just updated to 20130318). This gave me a transparent notification bar for the default theme, but you must be warned that if you change your theme, then it probably WON'T remain transparent, as different themes can specify that their status-bar is opaque.
Some themes already come with a transparent setup for the notification bar (for example, I used one called "Blue Line"), but the majority do not. In these cases you need to actually edit the theme in order to get transparency back (as explained in this post), however installing a modified theme will require you to not just decompile and recompile the theme .apk, but you also need to re-sign it (and finally, some will refuse to apply unless you remove some preview.png files within).
Notice that even themes with a transparent notification bar will not be displaying as transparent until after you apply the update zip I linked to first.
And this is JUST for the notification bar. I've been reading around a bit on how to add transparency to the notification drawer, but the steps required have just turned me off from trying that.
In brief, a transparent bar with the stock theme is easy. If the theme you like doesn't includes it, then it's going to take getting your hands dirty...
It shows that Android is based on Linux when it requires all this voodoo magic for a transparent notification bar T_T'
I have installed that statusbar mod. And it seems to working fine.
Does anyone know is those slim rom´s how stable and fast?
I like quarx´s rom´s cause they are so fast.
I just upgraded to the Slim Bean 3.1.0 by Kayant. I must say the transparency settings for status-bar / notification-bar are really awesome (it even works with installed themes).
The ROM works very well, if you read the comments on the linked thread, you'll see that it is a pretty neat ROM. Some users reported problems with using different CPU schedulers, but I personally use "CPU Tuner "with the default government (onDemand) which works well so far. However, the voltage settings gives me an error saying that it cannot retrieve the values, thus I cannot undervolt my Defy+.
Notice that this ROM uses Quarx's kernel underneath, so performance should be very similar. Unfortunately, the last update to that Slim Bean release is from February 25, meaning that it uses Quarx's kernel from the 20130217 nightly.
I should try poking that thread to see if there's any way in which us users could update the underlying kernel.
EDIT: Lookie here, it looks like Kayant is keeping an eye on Quarx's development, so we may get an updated kernel anyway
Kayant said:
Well it looks like Quarx has finally got new wifi drivers working and man it really showed me how wrong I was to have even attempt porting it myself because my method was so wrong and would have never work. I guess I will leave the kernel stuff to the experts
Now am going to wait and see if Quarx updates his repos more then I will try compile the new kernel with the new wifi drivers and hope it will work without me having to build the roms from starch ^_^

You need to register on the forum, then give the poster "Thanks!" ("Agradecer") before the download link becomes available ("descargas").
Kayant's release is based on Slim Bean 3.1.0, whereas 3.1.2 seems to have only two differences: "Update Me" (a program to handle updating the ROM from within the phone) and updated translations. So it's not that big of a difference...
I have no idea what kernel is running in the Slim Defy release, it only mentions that it has support for updating/using JellyX. I would not be surprised if it is Quarx's kernel, though.
Kayant is going to soon work on updating his ROM releases to 4.2 JellyBean rather than 4.1.2, so I don't think it's correct to say "updating" has come to a stop on the Kayant releases. It might be worth following his thread.
That's all I know, sorry if it isn't enough.

WELCOME TO CYANIDE L
ROM INFORMATION
ORIGINALLY based on CyanogenMod but not even close to being a CM base at this, this ROM is PACKED FULL of features from the wonderful custom ROM teams we have all come to know and love. This ROM is at a very stable and mature state at this point but I will continue to update frequently as things progress along even further into Lollipop and more features become available but GOOD LUCK trying to find features we don't support. I am OPEN to requests BUT PLEASE don't take it personal if your request isn't filled (doesn't happen often but I will only add things that I think somebody will find useful and worthwhile) as I am usually very busy and do this ALL myself, me, I LOL and my themer @TheGeekyNimrod of course but I have taken over theming duties as he has become very busy with life, school and his family but if it's theme related complain to him even tho I'm the one who made our latest theme engine apk LOL
IF you are using Xposed, do everyone a favor PLEASE and DO NOT post bug reports because we WILL laugh at you, in the forum, numerous times hahaha. Ok enought joking around, get to flashing already and let me know what you think, we both know you are sick or reading this at this point anyway. Hurry hurry!!!! Good things come faster to those who already have a backup LOL

Looking forward to this one.
I currently run this on my Tab, but I didnt release that one because of an issue with the kernel, I had to check with the dude that codes this on the fix, once I got the fix, I tested it by just building the kernel and injecting
it with twrp, all works. The green light is a go. So now recompiling with the fix. I also have this on as a secondary rom on my LG G3 D851.. I tell you one thing, With This rom you dont need Xposed....
I didnt build this rom, But I talk to the dude that does all the coding just about everyday.. Only reason im porting it over here because I think you all would like this rom.
Hopefully I will have it posted later today........ As long as I dont get any compile errrors that will abort the mission.
Well ill check back in later................
I am thankful for all this T800 stuff, but please someone take a look at poor T805 users. Mercy, please....

Thank you for the reply. I am guessing it is not so a big problem to implement a simple modem, as developr of CM 11 did here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../rom-cyanogenmod-11-sm-t805-lte-16gb-t3042201
I am currently using it and it works flawlessly.

Update: 05/03/2015
--=[ Cyanide L LP-5.1.1 ]=--
Updated: Still had kernel issues, But what I did for the workaround fix was use a prebuilt kernel from RR(Resurrection Remix) and resigned the Zip.
This is only temp, Till Problem is fixed, What happend is, No External SD Card would show up. So I had to inject a prebuilt kernel.
If anyone has used my ROM Resurrection Remix, you know about the few bugs, With this rom, All that is working.
There is a small crazy bug that I do know of, The recent apps hardware button, sometimes goes crazy or doesnt display correctly.
Workaround would be to use the softkeys..........
Anybugs, Send logs so that I can forward them to @rogersb11 who is the creator of this rom.
Also, I want to thank @nvertigo67 for allowing me to use his kernel...
...this means the ROM wouldn't work with our stock T800 LP kernel?

I am going to talk to Brett about that. and see if we can get that fixed.. See this rom was never meant for Tablet. And I didnt really ask him about porting it over to my tablet, I just did it. I asked him for the a little help after the
fact.. anyhow, he loves the fact that its getting around more. It does run very smooth on my D851 device. I dont understand why it doesnt here.. Kinda strange...
I would like to ask anyone that test this out, to plz send me logs (logcat) regardless if it worked or not. I really want to get this running smooth.
Brett is a pretty good coder, and he does pretty much all his own work. so with that said, Im out for now............

Yea, I agree.. See, I use MultiRom Which I also Maintain on my LG G3 D851 device, So I have like around 26 roms installed.
With 7 on my external sdcard which is 128gb and the rest on a 32gb flash drive. I have CyanideL as secondary rom.
My Primary is Pac-Man Rom Which to me is by far the smoothest rom I have ever used.
Maybe ill port that over here one day. Its kinda more like omni Based, Anyhow, its a good rom.
I can see this one needs some work done to it. I personally just dont have the time anymore. I even turned down a few people that wanted MultiRom ported over to their devices.
I have alot of projects going on and I just cant keep up with them all. Just as RR as at version 5.4.5 now I think, and I have yet had the time to build it. Which I will do soon for everyone.
prob today.
Anyhow, Cya yall on da rebound....

Be great to see an update to rr today thats my fav one
Great to see Cyanide around here!
Certainly going to give a try somewhere soon.
Thanks!
Great rom, many customisation, it's very similar to resurrection room but with free fixes and many customisation.
There is a slight noticeable lag, everything is fast but UI seems to lag a little.
By the way while updating apps the Device is getting very hot, CPU temperature going above 90°c. Can we do something about it?

Android Oreo 8.1 for Osprey (Moto G 2015) - active prototype ROMs

At the moment this post is edited frequently... 1 Jan, 2018.
Been flashing a bunch. Three to look at are:
[ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.0 (Alberto97)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/20...pment/rom-android-source-project-8-0-t3709129
(needs an 8.0 gapps)
-
[ROM][8.1.0_r1] Pixel Experience [AOSP][OSPREY][UNOFFICIAL](ZJRDroid)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3717863
(8.1 and gapps built in.)
Memory says 708 after boot.
-
[ROM][OSPREY][8.1.0_r1] Pixel Experience (Go edition)[AOSP][UNOFFICIAL](ZJRDroid) intended for smaller RAM phones like the Osprey 1GB.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-pixel-experience-edition-t3717869
(8.1 and gapps built in)
Memory says 736MB on a 2GB phone... with about 40 apps.
New:
[ROM][8.1.0_r1][BETA] AospExtended ROM V5.1 [OSPREY][1ST JAN]
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v5-0-t3681997
Has a ton of bells and whistles.
Use my https://forum.xda-developers.com/20...flashing-oreo-8-x-check-t3726839#post75044563 if you have problems flashing Oreo 8.x .
Full 8.1 probably won't happen for a month or so, but we get increasingly close with each offering.
I have used all 4 as a daily driver.
Current problems - Video camera (I use cameraFi2). See OP of each ROM for more specifics.
If you use majisk, use at least 1520 build.
In my wanderings I found many without gapps and since there is no official 8.1 gapps yet that I know of, I was pleased to find this

Yeah, at this point in time the code coming from google is missing a lock screen. I just added "Pattern Lock Screen" app and it seems to work fine(PixelExperience). That makes me guess that most of the lock screen apps would work fine - pick your flavor. [fixed]
I do notice that if you have a live wallpaper, your lockscreen will lag a bit. Osprey doesn't have speed of Pixel! I have taken to changing to a fixed wallpaper.

Hello. Thanks for your good rom, I installed the rom today. Everything works fine. I'll announce it.
Nice work!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
i get the "error executing updated binary in zip "/sdcard/MK71.2-honami-201804261426-UNOFFICIAL.zip"
UNL BL, Rooted 5.1.1, Dual Recovery 2.8

And so i was able to fix my ****, namely managing to install twrp 3.2
Phone works fine, except the usual overheating. It was rebooting normally and all that, but at one time i left it home only to find it depleted and nothing I did to bring it on was working.
At the end after hours, it managed to get some juice in it and be able to start and boot into the OS.
Another problem though, i cant download specific apps from play store, as in the device is not recognized for what it is. I even installed a sony-enabler though TWRP, which masks the phone identity into looking like a Sony. Still no go. For example i cant install Netflix, it gives a "non-supported device" error. (it doesnt appear at all in the appstore, i sideloaded it.
Still havent managed to resolve the google play "unsupported device" error.

Most debloatable pie rom port with latest security patches

Hi, thread title says it:
I'm searching for a android pie rom port with the most debloat options and that gets up to date security patches.
I don't need most of the samsung stuff so I'd want to debloat as much of the samsung stock apps and functions as possible.
Mod selection with sound mod, added "reboot to recovery" button, 180° screen rotation for all apps, lock and homescreen as well as a kernel that supports double tap 2 wake are also requirements.
Can anyone make recommendations?
PS: I have the flat version but I thought it's a good idea to also ask here since there seem to be roms that are made for both versions but only listed under one device tree.

Double tap to wake will work on any pie rom which is using MORO Kernel .
The most debloat options and sound mod is available in Light Rom . I'm not aware if it has the rotation and reboot to recovery button features
