[Q] Best camera app for Defy plus

Hi,
I am using Motorola Defy plus with CM7. the stock camera app dis not have " touch to shoot option " in it. so I went for Camera 360.
Which is very good app. but there are some difficulties with this app.
--> it runs pretty much all the time in background.
--> whenever I connect to the internet a pop up comes on top of screen asking me to do stuff. which is annoying.
so, Is there a god camera app for defy which has touch to shoot option with it.??any suggestions would be good.
regards,
vic
Hi, I have not installed cm7 in my defy now, but I remembered a good camera called Camera FV-5 lite. This look like a real camera. Obviously the free app have restrictions but maybe you can test it and pay for it if you like. Other great camera and free is cameraICS, but I don't know if run under cm7. Hope help you in any way. ?

Xiaomi Camera vs Google Camera [Mod]

What is better? the camera app from xiaomi or google? Has the camera app anything to do with video stabilization? If yes it will be better on Google Camera?
P.S: If someone can give me samples(images, videos) from both apps I will be happy

I posted here one simple example of the difference in night light: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74176704&postcount=34
In daylight Google camera is marginally better, and very consistent in good shots, the stock camera can sometimes loose focus.
I haven't yet had chance to compare videos, but I think the google camera will also give betters results, as the stock camera has issues in focusing in low light.

Search here in xda for google camera port, there are many many versions, so you must play with it. And root and enabling camera 2 api is a must for the apk to work.

Oh bummer... don't want to root Guess i'll leave it then...
tempted to root to install the GCam HDR+ but hesitant to do the tedious work in unlocking bootloader - fastboot - rooting
having the new phone for daily use is awesome, the only downside is the quality of low light pictures.. it's awful :fingers-crossed: my late mi4i takes low light with much better results..
oooh I guess that's why google pixle costs so much more
I recommend to root it. The picture quality is now stunning! Once unlocked and rooted, it is easy to relock and unroot since you know the steps
Anyone managed to fix the major lack of image stabilization on this camera?

If you mean the Miui camera, then it's up to Xiaomi to add stabilization.

Sorry, should have been clearer. I've found that blurriness in my photos is a real issue... I don't have root so Google camera is a no go, but seen a lot of people experimented with other cameras in this thread so wondered if any other software better than the stock Mi A1 camera software?

Hello Nitro, thanks for your example.
Did you use HDR Mode on Stock Camera or did you work on focus/exposition time?
This because I am getting good photos with Stock camera in low light; I cannot still compare with Google Camera because my device is not rooted (I will root, maybe, after Oreo update).

What is the reason that u don't want to root it? It is worth it for the better camera IMO

Well, one of the main reasons I bought this phone was for clean android and updates etc
Could be a misunderstanding on my part but I'm assuming that rooting will mean I don't get those updates?

As long as u don't touch the system partition ur good to go, that said: Magisk is able to do this. I'm using Magisk and continue to get updates. U only have to flash Magisk again after every update and the module but that its

Thanks, maybe I prefer Google Camera, but in my opinion both cameras have similar (good) quality. Or not ?
On good lightning they are similar (stock has a bit more noise), but when the conditions are not so ideal like on my examples above difference is bigger.

Lieageos photo quality vs stock Android one

Hi! I'm thinking off buying a Xiaomi Mi A1 and was wondering how does the lineageos photo app compare to stock one? Is the photo quality the same? Does the 2x optical zoom work?
dont buy mia1 in 2018 buddy, get something with sd636/660 or 845 instead. Redmi note 5 pro, mia2 and poco f1 are my quick suggestions.
Thank you for you repley but it doesn't answer my question. I don't play games so don't give a crap about faster CPU. My Nexus 5 is enough for me so I presume that Mi A1 CPU will be more than enough. It has micro SD and 3,5 jack so all I need. Back on topic. How does the lineageos camera photo quality compare to stock? I would like to run lineage Google free.
If you want quality, you must install Gcam port. Both stock and aosp cameras suck.
Not running Lineage, but I saw Magisk module for stock camera on custom ROMs, so you should be able to use stock app with 2x zoom. 3rd party camera apps do not support switching to 2x zoom lens (at least none of those which I tried). Though 2x zoom lens is not very useful, thanks to slow aperture it's next to unusable in anything else than bright light. Portrait mode is nice in theory, but you can't turn of "beautification" mode, which is utter crap as it smears all the details. Otherwise stock camera performance during day is very good (IMHO much more natural than GCAM). In low light it's crap, this is when I switch to GCAM and its magical HDR mode. But I don't know if you can run GCAM without Google framework.
So I'm stuck with either google looking into my pants or using some patched files which I can't trust or having a crap stock camera. SNAFU
Well, pick your poison..

Out of focus portrait images from mi a1

Hi everyone i want to ask a possible solution for Mi A1's blurry portrait images i mean the depth effect is good but the main object is not focused properly and it doesn't look good. As this phone was launched it was said that it has the best camera in this price range and frankly it was right but after a few updates i.e oreo update the camera is jus the worse...
So i surfed the internet to find whether i am the only one facing this issue or anyone else is also facing the same and i was surprised that many did face this issue..
So please can anyone help me out with that
Install gcam mod, there are a few guides in this forum. You can try and see, just remember to backup your phone

Done that but still i like the depth effect of mi a1' s stock camera is there any fix?
Maybe you're not shooting the object far enough, the stock camera used the telephoto lens, which means you have to get further away from the object (yes it can be really annoying). If that's not the case, it's probably a hardware issue (camera replacement), which is not really expensive.

Google Cam ports

Anyone tested out any gcam ports?
I've just tried one (from the Mi 8 xda forums link below, via telegram) and initial tests show photos and night sight works! Not tested it thoroughly yet though, such as video etc
It's this one:
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/themes/mi-8-google-camera-mod-t3803984
Update: seems most things work other than portrait mode, just crashes
Hi cd993,
what for a miui version runs your Mi9 out of the box? is it on stable channel? Is camera api2 enabled as default in miui9 stable yet?
can you please test if HDR+ is working and can you confirm the port uses the primary (48mpix) lens for photos or does it use another from the three lenses?
I hope i get my Mi9 tomorrow, then i'll do a big photo comparison between Mi9 camera vs. my Mate 20 pro and my grilfriends Mi8 (with google port).
Can't wait to unlock the phone and hope a pixel experience port will arrive soon
Thanks

Hey,
OK see attached my miui version.
HDR+ appears to work, it takes that little bit longer to process, though not tested thoroughly. The photo was 12mp so presumably just the standard lens
Thanks fotr the info.
Its the stable channel version, lets look how the beta version is ... after 300hours ...
Can you test the camera setup again? 12mpix can be correct even if its shoot with the primary 48mpix sensor because the sensor uses "pixel binning", these combines four to one pixel to increase sharphness and lightning. Maybe the pixelbinning were just applied in the sensor itself. Its easy to test which lense the port uses. open the google cam port and cover the lenses with a finger, if you look at the viewfinder. when you cover the lens at the top and the "viewfinder is covered" then the primary lens (48mpix) sensor is used.
Thanks

THank you very much.
So happy that you can compare Mi 9 with Mi 8 Google Camera performance.
Considering whether to upgrade from Mi 8 to Mi 9 for camera upgrade. THank you.

Yes, but i can finalize the comparison even after March 16th, due to traveling.
I've done a comparison between Mi8 and P20pro last year but Mi8 was shooting without Google Cam port, because the port wasnt availible at this time.

okay.. hello rommco!!
Can you tell me the best settings you have found to make gcam work efficiently on our mi9?
Pics are too softened by night with normal camera. And with night mode they are catastrophic too much artificial sharpening.

Yes, but the photo is only 12mpx, also in Raw mode.
Much better to use Arnova latest version. Since mi 9 supports c2api level 3 can utilize the aux camera feature for telephoto.

Tap on the swap camera icon, it uses telephoto after switching to front cam
Ah thanks yes I see now.
Is there a way to use the wide angle? Perhaps not yet but will love it if/when we can
I made a comparison between Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/ecGsAyjPUKVQ7adX9
I'll gradually add more photos.
See the watermark to differentiate the phones.
Images without watermark were captured with the Google Pixel Port (in the dark with Nightsight)
Images were captured via point and shoot, both "AI" Features are enabled. Google Pixel with HDR+
Can somebody link a scam that works directly with the mi9? Is it possible to take photos in 16/9? 12 mo lens I think...
Thank you.

I think not yet since most ports are from phones with dual cam only with telephoto. Hoping someone will port a build specifically for mi 9.
Found a version where portrait works.
GCam_6.1.021_N7P_test2.3.apk
Motion photo also works, theres also a toggle to always show night mode for easy access which I think is really good.

Let's keep it up. I had tried one of the LG wide angle ones but unfortunately it didn't work with the wide angle lens of our Mi 9.
