Just starting a thread for battery life experience as people use the phone. Mine is pretty freakin' great right now, but I'll post some initial results after I get home later tonight. I finished charging to 100% almost 2 hours ago, and with just a bit of usage (maybe 10 minutes total screen on time) I still am at 100%. Though, we know that it sometimes takes a long time to drop from 100% to 90%.
What are other people's experiences? Please post display on time in battery stats, as that gives a good feel for how much you're actually using the phone.
Unplugged it at 6:30am with a full charge.
Took it to work, I put it in airplane mode when I'm in the building because I don't get a signal and don't want the radio searching for a signal and wasting power. GPS/Bluetooth/Wifi are all turned off. I turn the radio back on when I'm out of the building, and I'd estimate it's been on 2 hours since it was charged.
Have watched the latest episode of Family Guy and started on the latest episode of Dexter using Rock Player.
I estimate the screen has been on for about 4 hours. I can only estimate because I had to plug the phone in to transfer a file a couple hours ago which reset the stats.
I've downloaded and installed about 20-30 apps today over 3G networks.
At the current time of 3:15pm (8 hours 45 minutes since full charge), I have 30% of the battery left.
I think you're supposed to do a full charge and full discharge so the phone can "calibrate" the battery meter, which I have not done yet, but so far I'm very pleased. Puts my 2 yr old G1's battery life to shame...
Yeah it sounds decent. A bit better than my Nexus One was.
I would say it is on par with the Nexus One. Should get you through the day but you will be plugging it in at night. It is comparable to most android phones.

Without explaining a bunch of boring details, it's definitely better than my N1 so far. Charged it up right after getting it from the UPS guy today for a couple of hours while I took a nap.
We'll just have to wait and see after a few days of use, charges and discharges. Looking great so far, though!
Played around with it at the store today, came in at 3 p.m after school. The demo unit was already at 45% when I got it, surfed the web for about half an hour, downloaded an app, watched YouTube for about 5 minutes and the phone died at about 4:30.
Not really impressed, but its an Android phone. Hopefully it can be better, the good thing is that the web browser is a lot faster than my iPhone 4. That's what keeping me on returning the iPhone, and it starts up a lot faster as well. Took about 20 seconds to boot up after the phone died on me, and the rep charged it.
Definitely will be needing to charge it every night.
3 hr bike ride with music playing used about %50 of the bat. So its way better then my G1 but not as good as my Iphone 2g.
I'm getting much better battery life then I was getting on the G1....love this phone

How about someone download Battery Left widget and tell us what it says.
Will vary by user but it will be more accurate with remaining battery life.
So far the battery life on mine is terrible compared to my nexus one, and that was terrible as well.
I woke up 10am, phone on the charger, took it off, around 2pm made two phone calls. Went to work at 5pm, phone's battery was at 23% around 7pm. My nexus one around that point would be at ~50%. So far I'm not impressed with this phone, more work could have went into it.
I loaded a few webpages... did a video chat with someone on Fring for about a minute (lol), downloaded a few apps, had a few phone calls... one lasting about 10 minutes... and after being off the charger for 5 and a half hours.. i'm at 44 percent power... this is my first android device so I'm not sure if that's good or bad
Have you all that are reporting poor battery life done the full-charge/full-discharge thing to "calibrate" the battery meter. I'm not sure that it really matters, but I'm assuming it does since battery info is one of the things you can wipe in the recovery roms.
I'm still extremely pleased with my battery life.
I got the phone yesterday and played with it right out of the box till it was at 5% battery... i plugged it in lastnight and let it fully charge and i unplugged it at 6:15am this mornining... i used the gps to get to work to see how it was... i have watched videos on youtube, gone on the internet, checked and sent emails and texts, downloaded some apps... and played around with it today... i had it plugged into the computer thru usb for approx 5 min tops to set up some media files... and as of now at 3:33pm my battery is at 50%
Opening mine at 930/10pm, heavily used it to burn it to 0% and did that by 12/1230am. Charged it to 100% by 330am. Played with it a bit then went to bed, left it unplugged. Woke up today and burned it to 0% by 330pm. It's charging right now and we'll see how it goes throughout tonight. It will get a bit of pocket time so I'll get a real feel for the battery life.
Took mine off the charger at 7am throught the day had 20 incoming/outgoing calls all lasted at least 2or 3 mins each, downloaded a couple of apps, checked facebook and twitter a few times. showed it off to some friends and now it is almost 5:00 and still have 60% battery, so I am impressed especially since I had a G1 before this

They aren't changing them long enough. Lithium ion batteries don't have to be trained like the older style ones. Other other culprit could be the batterystats.bin but you can't access or delete that without root. Jut discharge the battery till it powers off and charge for 4-6 hrs.
charged mine last night while tethered to my laptop browsing - took it off about midnight
this morning the alarm sound (pre-alarm 5 minutes, full alarm for 10 mins and never woke me btw), spent about 2 hours+ talking, browsed the web for maybe 15 minutes, downloaded a few apps from the market and ran a few quadrant benchmark test - it's now almost 6:00PM and it's at 40% -
i'm happy with that - and from experience with my MT3G and the vibrant, battery life should improve with some cycling or useage

leave it on the charger for 4-6 hours after its full or just to charge it from empty to full?
I'm very glad to hear about the excellent battery life. A friend of mine has even reported his phone being on for a full day and still having battery life left.
People make sure that you charge up your battery fully before turning the phone on. It's better to be safe than sorry. I know people say it does not matter but otherwise the battery won't be accurate if you just turn it on out of the box.
10 hours and some change later after normal phone usage and I had to charge it... I'm impressed to say the least
I bought 2 days ago the u8800 pro... It had 2.2 android and I upgraded it successfully to 4.0 and also did all the extras (used the patched services.jar, used the build.prop with tweaks and unlocked the fps).
Since I will only use this phone for 1 month max and then sell it I just installed my basic apps: Opera,Swiftkey,Kik messenger, adaway, xda app, maildroid, battery widget app and go sms). I did see that battery was getting too quick low so I tested it like this: Closed 3G/Wi-Fi/GPS, fully charged it, calibrated the battery and then I slept so the screen was off. When I woke up (9 hours after) the battery was 87%. Is this normal for this phone?
Well, if its new it shouldnt go down so fast. I have mine for a year and a half and it's working pretty much like yours. When you bought it, did you charged it for about 5-6 hours?
Happens to me too dw. Its the garbage battery sensor which underestimates the charge.

hello everyone, I'm a new note owner, I bought it used and I think it has two years on it, but it is in great shape. I noticed however, that the battery life isn't that amazing as people have told me, this coming from a Galaxy alpha user. I will leave screenshots of today's battery life and I think it isn't that amazing what it got
I've heard about battery miscalibration, is this really a thing? I can try and calibrated but I need to root it, & I wasn't really looking forward to reading it, since its lollipop on stock rom.
The screenshots are bellow of screen on time and total time, you can see that it's not consistent and I charge my phone two times a day.
http://imgur.com/a/ShaLI
I'm using lollipop official rom flashed on Odin via download mode, yes the rom is compatible with my country's frequencies so there's not really a problem there.
I notice however that the battery sort of goes down faster sometimes more than others, sometimes even going as far as draining 10% simply being on stand-by with LTE enabled for 2 hours in my pocket when I'm in class.
Is this normal behavior?
I don't think there is any such thing called miscalibration, I mean I am not sure, but well.
If your phone is 2 years old, then I think the battery has seen its life, time to get a new one mate.
Battery recalibrates itself .
However as the battery is old then Drain the battery to 5% power off charge fully unplug wait one hour top up charge and use .
Next step is new battery Anker brand is good .
Wiping battery stats/ supposed calibration has nothing to do with battery calibration and will make no difference .
Lithium-ion batteries last about 300-500 charging cycles, after that the risk of it dying increases exponentially. Some last 5 years, some 1. It depends on usage and environmental factors.
There is no such thing as recalibrating a modern lithium ion battery. It doesn't have a memory.
New battery costs about 20 quid, it should solve the problem.
Also, did you do a reset after the update? Updates can cause battery drain too, quite often.
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
No, I did not do a reset after the update. But I noticed this before updating to lollipop, I had to do some running around before I got home the day I bought it, and it was running KitKat 4.4. I got it with 93% of battery, walked home for a bit and was down to 65, went to the shopping and back, got home with 40 to 35%. (I bought the phone at around 5 pm and finally got home after going to the mall at around 8pm)

Then it's the battery, most likely.
Hello everyone.
(Please excuse my lengthy post, I had a lot of details to share. Thanks!)
So I recently bought N910C from a guy in Dubai, who gave me an extended 8500mah battery along with it, and claimed that it would last me 3 days easily (though later he claimed that it runs a day on full use, and 2 days no mild usage. Also claimed that standard 3220mah battery lasts less than 6 hours) but 8500mah would take around 6 hours to charge (it takes me 1.5 max, does 1% in a minute, with quick charger). I was however instructed to calibrate the battery properly, which I did, twice, tried the manual (draining and full charging) method, and also tried two apps: Battery Calibration and Battery HD.
Facts:
After buying, I flashed marshmallow stock rom for N910C and rooted with CF-Autoroot.
I have been using its own fast charger throughout, not the standard charger.
Here is the problem:
Before rooting and changing the rom, the battery was barely lasting and would shut down when around 30%. So I rooted the phone and did the calibration (manual+Battery calibration app), but the battery timing remained the same, or maybe increased slightly. The good thing was that it did not shut down at 30% and went down to 1%, where it stuck for good 15 minutes (with me browsing the net).
After I recharged it, I tried Battery HD app, which ran tests and gave me the following figures of battery usage:
30 minutes on internet: 5%
30 minutes on video: 6%
30 minutes on music: 2%
After this process, the battery again collapsed in its 30s%. I tried the battery calibration method again, but no luck now, battery collapses in its 30s. The guy who I purchased it from keeps sharing the snapshot and claims it was working fine before.
Now my questions:
I read some guides, including topics on XDA that suggested that Exynos drains more than snapdragon. So should I try to make a switch to a variant of note 4 with snapdragon, or would that make no major difference?
Is this battery faulty and I should change it? the Seller claims that he had to come on to an extended battery cause the standard was ****, so I shouldn't try and get another, it would be a waste.
What could be the problem if the battery falls in 30s% even after calibration, with exception to that one time?
Also, when it collapses in its 30s and I put it to charge, the screen shows "charging at 45%", why is that?
Lastly, I read here on xda that zerolemon extended batteries require the standard charger as the quick charger would give **** time and would charge them quickly. Will that apply to me as well? Although my battery isn't zerolemon, it's some unknown brand. And it seemingly charges quite quickly with the regular charger as well (when the phone is turned off).
He claimed that it should take my phone 6 hours to charge, it takes me barely 1.5 hours even on the extended battery, is there something I am doing wrong?
If you went through all of what I wrote, thank you for being so patient! So now, do I have any hope with this phone or should I just sell it off and maybe get an AT&T or T-mobile variant?
Thanks in advance for the guidance to come. I'll keep updating this post with whatever other tests I run, and the progress.
Khurram

That's what I am trying to do, if only I can find someone's spare to try out lol.
p.s. you signature, lol I have the same three phones with the same status, except that my G3 (which is also white) is in a coma and G2 is up for grabs.

Lol!
Bought this phone 4 days ago on friday. S10plus exynos 128gb, dual sim, but i only use one sim. Android 10 and ONE UI 2.0.
Friday was spent to set up the device. I used smartswitch. Saturday, i fiddled with the device. Battery wasnt that great tbh. Sunday i read some guides and i factory reset it, backuping only messages and photos (contacts are from google). All apps were reinstalled manually.
What got me worried was, i set an alarm for monday at 7.30. When it rang i unplugged the phone and kept snoozing it for another hour. When i finally woke up at 8.30 it was on 94%. 6% from snoozing it?? Come on...
So i reset all three settings (accessibility, network and setting) and cleared cache in recovery mode. Still i was at 6% at 18.00 and i wasnt done with stuff, but i had to go home to recharge... SOT at 6% was 4hrs 50 minutes. I used gmaps navigation for 2hrs and that was the only time i had location turned on.
So today i did some more tweaks and my setup is as follows:
LTE ON all day
Wifi maybe turned on once or twice for few minutes
AOD on tap
Lift to wake OFF
Dolby atmos ON
Sync off
Location off
Bluetooth off
Dark mode ON
Power mode is on Optimized
Adaptive power saving is ON
Adaptive battery is on (altho idk how much it worked in this two days since factory reset)
Bixby is ON and it can be summoned with locked screen
Google assistant is off, but i can "hey, google" when im on home screen.
Screen brightness was most of the time at around 50-60%
Keyboard vibrations ON
Medium resolution
Its 17. 00 right now and im on 10%
SOT is 7hrs 30min but with 9hrs away from charger. I had a day off, so i decided to use it extensively to test the battery.
I have seen peoples results and theyre much better. Like:
-15% left, 21hrs since charged and 7hrs 30min SOT
-15.5hrs from battery, 7hrs sot with 3hrs of youtube and still 10% left
-1day on battery, 7hrs SOT with 2 hrs spent on instagram
-12hrs on battery, 7hrs SOT and 50% left
-7hrs on battery 6hrs 50minutes SOT with 64% left
-the most impressive 1day 12hrs on battery, 13hrs SOT with 4hrs of youtube and 4hours of spotify.
I know it depends on user and his usage, but the results of others are just too much better than mine and i cannot neglect that. And some are using BT, Location and SYNC all day ON with great SOT and standby and come home at night and dont worry about battery. I want it all on too, but mine would probably be dead by 14.00.
I was deciding between S10+ and P30Pro. Huwaei because i know their battery is superb. But samsungs stereo and system convinced me to stay loyal to samsung, and i thought that the battery will be improved and good with a 4100 unit.. But i guess i was wrong. I previously had s7edge and battery wasnt that great either, but i decided not to act on it and somehow got through with it for 3 years with multiple chargers thru the day. I thought this will be a very noticeable upgrade, but its not... And honestly, i dislike night mode and i love AOD always ON, always had it on on 7edge, but im afraid to use AOD and day mode on 10+ cuz of battery. It should be okay from the box for the price it costs. I thought with this big battery i will be able to have Location, BT, Sync, Data Always turned on and get through the day no problem. But apparently not. And I know its possible with huawei and i chose s10+ cuz i thought now it will be possible and i like its UI more.. But well.. Im disappointed..
Can anyone advise me what to do? Is my battery faulty? Should i exchange for a new one? As i said with s7edge i didnt go complain to samsung, but this is second phone with same problem and even more expensive. I feel it should be better. I expected at least 8hrs SOT and to get home at 20.00 (13-14hrs on battery) with still 20-25% left... With most stuff turned on. At least based on this forum and yt tests and what i heard from acquaintances that bought the phone..
I love this phone, its system, features, everything, but idk if im prepared to charge it 2 or more time a day for the next 2-3 years,as i did with s7edge...
Ps: in 16minutes to finish this post it dropped from 10% to 6% already on medium power saving mode...
Thank you for any help
Also those 4hrs of Samsung Internet were 95% news and forums, basically just text and no videos.
Also idk why the new android 10 battery usage doesnt show Android System and Idle. But here is also screenshot of Android system and CPU spy
Disable AOD service for amazing battery life
I disabled the AOD service and my battery life has doubled with Android 10
Your SOT is very good. 7hrs is quite impressive. I'm getting 3-4hrs SOT and mostly I'm losing 15-20% per night. But I have this Standby-Usage since my first Samsung (Galaxy S Advance) and I accepted it as normal.
Yeah today SOT was okay. But you gotta count in the battery since charge time. Yesterday my battery since charge was 12 and half hours. And my sot was 4hrs 50 minutes.
So i guess today would be the same had i not used the phone constantly.
I just dont understand how someone has a phone more than 20hrs since charging with 7, 8 or more hours of SOT. Yet i dont. Same phone..
And yeah i know AOD drains, but still theres sth wrong when your battery doubles if u turn it off. And with 4100, battery unit and 900€ phone this shouldnt be a problem.. Seriously thinking about exchanging it for p30pro. No need to tweak it and it battery just lasts. Ahhhh -.-

I would say your battery life is good..I have Exonys version and I have most of the same settings on that you have on, plus some extra ones...before I installed android 10 I used to get +-12-18 hours standby and a sot of +- 2-4 hours depending on how I used my phone. I never switch off my phone(standby for work). So, when I go to bed the phone just lies there from 10pm till 5 in the morning.... I will restart my phone once a week. AOD is on from 5 in the morning till 8 at night. I never use any power saving modes. The best sot I ever got was 5h54...and the battery lasted 12 hours and most of the sot was playing candy crush...
With Android 10 the sot is still basically the same, but the standby time(idling/sleep) is much better....I get 18-24 hours now, depending on usage.
I know the snapdragon has a better "battery life" then exonys version. In general the battery life isn't the best, but also not the worst compared to other top brands...I had the S9+ and the battery life was worse then the S10+...I get +- 8-12 hours more life out of the S10+
---------- Post added at 04:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:44 AM ----------
Forgot to mention that when the phone sleeps, I loose .5 % per hour.with aod I loose 1-2 % per hour. When fully charged the first couple of percent drops quickly, but drops slower after 90%. I Have VOLTE and VOWIFI on permanently, I just switch off wifi and data when I go to bed, so for 18 hours a day I'm connected to wifi from home and work...when travelling I have a hotspot in my vehicle. Data connection(LTE) does eat more battery, but some areas our signal is very low and that eats even more battery...Over the weekend I streamed music to my bluetooth speaker for 10 hours and I lost +- 20%....that's including a lot of screen unlocking/locking, checking whatsapp etc.. Was very impressed..
Well thats comforting to hear.. Does it not bother you that some are getting much much more? Like crazy more..? Those examples of high standby time and high SOT are all from Exynos version that i found in the battery thread her on xda
It did bother me when I got the phone and tried all the tricks for better life and still I couldn't get close. The battery optimization took a while to "learn". Battery life is getting better slowly but surely...A longer battery life would be nice, but as long as I can get through a full day I'm happy. There is some days where I get through on the battery with some 40% left...other days I get home with 15%...usage per person and cell reception is a big factor for good battery life
Ahhh i just get real jelly seeing all others with such good results and i dont understand how it varies SO MUCH from one person/phone to another. Seems like a lottery.
I get even more jelly when i see p30pro results its consistent and same for majority of them and its soooo much better... But their system and features to me arent as good as samsungs.. Cant they just make a phone with samsung features and systems and huaweis battery? Hahah
lol...One of my friend has the p30pro and in the beginning the battery was great...He had it from the beginning....now, some time later he has worse battery life then me...
Seriously?? What messed it up for him? Maybe an update, faulty battery, or does this happen to all huwaeis?
My brother has a two year old huwaei and his battery is still amazing..
Same thing to me. Inconsistent battery, one day is good, one day is bad. I am pretty dissapointed, but I do not want a Huawei again. Features from Samsung are clearly better, and to pay 1300 eur to get an iPhone with 512 cause 128 are not enough and they do not support sd card... not worth. So, I will stick with Samsung, use my external battery sometimes but to be honest, it was more than enough how it lasted for me, it is just that obsession to have a good battery like everyone else.
If I am at work I have some wireless charger but I still do not use it cause I am busy, if i am at home i can charge it anytime... so there is no need to bother. I learned to not be that obsessed anymore and enjoy my phone.
What's wrong with 71/2 hours? I don't get anywhere near that?

My friend's not sure what is causing the problem, but he barely makes it through a work day....He bought himself a car charger and charges it on his way home, the trip takes about an hour per day....as he won't make it on a single charge for a day...He leaves work at 5 in the morning, takes the phone of charged and by 5 he has to charge again

7.5 with low standby time. With this standby time, according to others should be much much more. That similar to what i got on s7edge with smaller battery.
I unplugged today at 8.50. Its 10.26 and im on 82%. With hour SOT. With a bit youtube and some forums.. Thats just unacceptable..

Exactly. This dont get thru the work day either like some people do..bought this phone cuz is saw people get great SOT and they get home late at night with still battery left... And thats not what i get with mine.. Srsly dont get it...
Since you had your phone only for 4+ days I wouldn't stress too much...It took my phone 2 weeks to "learn" my patterns and optimize the battery accordingly when I was it was running Pie. When I installed Android 10, in the beginning it was crap, but 10 days later the battery was optimized...I make sure that the minimal apps run in the background/most are sleeping...
---------- Post added at 04:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:43 AM ----------
The battery was very crap in the beginning, but got better over time
Thanks for reassuring me. Im stressing so much cuz i got a week to replace it if its faulty. The deadline is on saturday.
If i miss it i can only use the warranty. Which is fine, but the seller or samsung has more rights and can make you wait for up to 40days to find your phone.
Within the first 8days you have full right to demand new device or your money back. At least thats consumer law in my country.
I did the warranty fiasco with s7edge cuz it had faulty screen... Never again. Costumer service terrible..
Followed corv0s guide..still not even close to 8-9hrs SOT... This battery is awful and idk how, since its 4100 unit. Not happy.. Today is last day i can still demand new phone or another phone..
