Moto G5 Plus stuck in EDL MODE - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Good morning all,
I come to take advice following a big problem with a Moto G5
I put the device in EDL mode using pliers on the test points.
I wanted to do a physical dump of the beast, but it failed ...
The big problem is that the device now remains permanently in EDL mode (black screen with flashing diode ....)
Do you have a solution?

I do not know specifically about the electronic hardware in the Moto phone, but in general, I would say something needs to be placed in a "reset" mode. The only solution I can think of, is if one lead of the battery can be disconnected, and allow the phone to totally go dead for a few minutes, it might work. (I do not advised letting the lithium battery go totally dead, it may not recover, but that's an idea too)

Finaly a friend found the solution!
I made bridges btw EDL points
Some flux and my iron to remove bridges, phone restart without any problem
Thanks

Hi @Mistercatapulte,
Can you tell me the location of edl points in Moto g5 plus ?
Would really appreciate if you can reply with the image depicting their location

[Q] HELP! Note 4 unable to boot up

Hi guys!
So while using my phone halfway, it suddenly powered off and died. At first I thought it was something small and tried to power it on again, but unfortunately it seems to be a much bigger problem. I am unable to do anything with the phone at all. It's become a literal brick.
I have not done any rooting nor have I dropped the phone into the water. I dropped my phone a couple of times, but it was with a proper phone cover.
When I tried to charge my phone, the charging light did not come on. I have tried the battery in an external charging kit and it works fine, therefore I do not believe that it is a battery problem.
The lucky thing is that my phone is still under warranty. However, I was told that the SOP for servicing the phone is to remove all personal data during the recovery process.
Unfortunately, I didn't back up the files in my phone because I didn't see any signs that the phone was gonna die on me, so I was wondering if there was any other way to save my data.
I read online that it may be worth trying to use a USB jig to try to force the phone into download mode. Is this possible? Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase one?
Unfortunately, I do not know which specific model my carrier sells, but it's a Qualcomm 2.7 KHz 4G+ note 4. Can't remember the exact firmware it was running on, but it should be the latest stock firmware.
Would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Is there anyone here who has any advice for me?

jig is basically a 300K ohm resistor across pins 4 and 5, so searching for brand names/judging by marketing descriptions won't help. It can only fix soft bricks for you, specifically it lets you enter download mode where you can use odin to flash stuff you want. It wont help you in any other way.
Now that we are clear, the cheapest ones I could find are these:
http://www.amazon.com/SainSonic-Dongle-Samsung-Captivate-Vibrant/dp/B0053H73JQ
http://www.amazon.com/Download-adapter-Samsung-Galaxy-Unbrick/dp/B008THL0V4
Buy whichever you like
And if its a hard brick, off to the service center you go!
PS: i have no idea about any way to backup from download mode, maybe someone else can help you on that part.
If you are able to dirty flash a rom and get it booting then you can backup all you want. Hope that works for you.
Thanks for the advice!
Unfortunately because I wasn't able to power up the device I had to send it into the service center. They replaced the motherboard and the charging point for me and I got back my phone 4 hours later.
Lesson learnt, always backup your data every day.

Hard bricked my phone.

So my phone was acting weird recently, with all sorts of various problems popping out and I simply could not live with it. Before continuing, I would like to say that I hope you guys could help me out here, and thanks a lot in advance. Anyways, I decided that instead of just re-flashing the same ROM on top of the current one on my phone, why not fully erase all the partitions first (big mistake) and fresh install the ROM?
I erased my individual partitions (TWRP - rajlko) with this command, and managed to erase up to 7 partitions.
mke2fs -T ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p1/2/3/4/5/6/7
After formatting ALL the partitions, I immediately rebooted my phone (another huge mistake - the boot.img or whatsoever is probably deleted now) and now, it boots up with a black screen, and that it shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 in the device manager.
Please do give some insights and suggestions on this matter. I do not have the time to travel to the nearest service center as of now, and that the repair service takes at least 3 weeks. Hopefully there are solutions to this though. From what I know, the partitions (with the names) are there, just that the necessary files required to boot the phone is not there. Is there any way about this? Thank you!
at present we have no solution for this situation.
most important thing is service rom & we do not how to get it.
when I hard bricked my phone, i surrender this to service center & I got my phone back in 5 days.
there are approx 51 mmcblk in ze550kl.
Ouch. Sad news. There is a tool called QFIL from QPST bundle, which can download firmware to device in Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 mode, but I don't know if we have the images to flash. This is all new, I don't believe anyone has tried to unbrick their laser on xda yet

Rajiko are you able to explain exactly what the service rom does, and why it is needed? Or do you know any useful URL that we can read to learn more? I don't really understand how the service rom fits into the bigger picture and it would be great to understand more - for example, can we use any msm8939 unbrick tools if we have a snapdragon 615 device, or does it need to be from Asus?

Have you every face a situation where there is no recovery, no fastboot, no system runs, you are unable to see any sign of booting device, no light on your mobile scree.
When you connect your mobile phone to your pc you found yourself in a new situation, your pc displays a popup installing driver for newly found device, when this installation done, you found a new device in your pc's device manager somename .... 9008.
In this situation, we need some tools that may detect our device & here it comes to role of service rom.
our xda forum is good url to read & learn with every situation regarding our mobiles.
every manufacture have different boot partitions & commands, so we need service rom from particular manufacturer for particular device.
Thanks for your help guys! I decided to send it in and it came back within 5 days. The engineers diagnosed the problem as the motherboard being "dead" (stated so on the letter), though I am pretty sure that's not the case, if you know what I mean.
Upon receiving my phone and popping off the back cover, there is actually a "hole" next to the SIM slot 2, which could be easily identified with a yellow taping around it. With the vague image of my previous ZenFone 2 Laser, as well as with the aid of images online, I am sure that this is definitely a new revision for that particulator motherboard, or so to say, a revised version. One thing I noticed is the dramatic improvement in battery life. Using the exact same applications as before, I would only get about 3-4 hours max screen-on-time, whereas with the repaired phone, I could easily get to about 8-11 hours of screen-on-time without limiting any of my application usages.
Another thing that I noticed was that the phone was significantly faster. I have the MSM8916 processor variant, and with the previous phone, it would lag occasionally. Whereas after being repaired, everything was butter smooth. Extremely smooth.
I am not sure if this is really because of the, so to speak, "updated" version of the motherboard, or simply a placebo effect, but hopefully it's not the latter.

That's strange. Could you run AnTuTu/Geekbench/Vellamo benchmarks a few times and post your average scores?
Maybe check your device info using CPU-Z to see if anything's changed?
Can you please post a picture of the back?

I scrolled briefly through your posts and didn't see which model you have 550 or 551?
Also, what was the verdict on the possible new mainboard? What did CPU-Z report?
Please create a new topic, since this is not related to "hard bricked".

So in xfstk is succesfully mounted (os + fw ) on the device. post that you get a 4 colored screen and then you boot into bootloader normally. in mine however the phone is stuck at the 4 colored screen forever. i have redone the entire process like 90 times but same , i have eeven tried other solutions but nothing worked. thats why i asked whether the service center guys replace the motherboard or actually unbrick it and how much they charge? thanks for the reply!

The thread isn't mine, it's everyone's.
Okay, so the tablets don't have a cmos battery because of the form factor, instead their uefi firmware stores data on the chip itself. We need to trick the bios to make it appease corrupted so that the backup bios image gets restored. But we will need a photo of the bios chip to see what pins will be needed to short.
If your device has an hdmi port, then you can try connecting to a display, but i am not sure it will work.
Shorting the bios pins may not damage it if done correctly, but you take the risk.
And please, don't buy those chinese tablets, they will break down suddenly.
The chip with the green dot on it is the bios chip in my tablet. The alphanumerical code on it is what you'll need.

Nothing, happened, dead only CPU and coprocessor hot to cook eggs.
First irulu stop sign of life I see enter the BIOS without my needs,I see screen a white flash and after nothing.
I think the screen dead or coprocessor
Because when I put the charge the blue led is on.
But also when I connect the keyboard the power on led remain off.
If you want and have superpowers I send to you,and you can see if fix
Or I buy a cheap china chuwy 3g dual OS,win+android 7

Your device is fine, just the bios needs to be reset or reflashed. Can you try entering DnX mode? But you'll need your firmware files (stock rom).
What's dnx mode
Explain me
I do short pin 2 with charge in no luck!
It has a reset button, but no luck,!
Where's the ground in my tablet
Different motherboard from the link you give

Dnx mode is like qualcomm's download mode, but on intel baytrail devices. On my tablet, you enter using pressing vol up + vol down + power.
This method will work IF you have stock firmware and ONLY IF the stock firmware has a bios image. If you don't have stock firmware or it doesn't contain bios image then don't bother.
What confusion
But why they do a reset button?
I press it but nothing happen

That reset button resets OS, not the bios.
Keep that tablet, maybe you will solve the problem later. Give it to a PC repair store, tgey must have equipment to flash a damn bios chip.
About the call recording, tasker might help although i don't know how to manage it, so don't ask.

Technically, it's not the tablet's fault, you changed some incompatible settings.
Yea, they compiled a ****ty bios, but chuwi won't be better. They're all the same, manufactured in a same place but with different branding.
I'd say, look for refurbished laptops or netbooks, like from asus, dell, hp, you get it. They will last longer than these chinese tablets. If you find one in a mint condition.
HDMI mini to HDMI cable when tomorrow I try
Tell me I remembered
I select under USB tab legacy on
What's and what do that
I also under screen have selected HDMI.
If I sure this, because, the tablet is on,screen is off
Usb charge only,keyboard is off
China tablet same china microsd card.
But THL is a China phone and work great and I have from 7 years paying $178,
But I don't love to loose, I wants revenge,i sell PC and repairs from 8 years, no one in my life I have destroyed.

LGv20 H990DS Bootloop after last upgrade

Hi everyone,
Last sunday, I processed to the last upgrade of my LGv20 H990DS (Received 1st notification about availability about a week before)
Upgrade went fine and phone worked ok after it. Note: I was using it with official updates / I did not root the phone
Through on next morning, I found that I was having the LG logo then black screen then LG logo ans so on...
Won t be sure now if phone was unplugged or not overnight.
I read different threads here and some check videos but so far nothing as worked.
Would like to have an idea if it is still worst trying fixing.
Among the stuff, I tried:
Factory reset by holding the Volume down button and Power then releasing Power and pushing it back:
I access the menu but after confirming the reset I am back in a bootloop situation
I also tried to connect the phone in download mode and use LG Bridge as I saw in a video:
I can enter the download mode but phone does not get recognized and then go in bootloop again
I saw other post mentioning fastboot or XDZ but haven t seen in detail as look more steps/complicated.
Was thinking checking first if it was worth trying and if maybe my issue was due to something not fixable by myself (Hardware...)
Thanks in advance for the help!
I've got exactly the same problem. Could anyone help, please?
Hi
I will be still blocked with same issue.
Tried to bring it to a few shops, but they could not do anything.
LG is not common phone here (Malaysia) so most saying they are not familiar, don t have firmware or spare part.
I m taking back the phone tomorrow and was planning to try
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903
see if using dll and lgup will do better.
or this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-lg-v20-to-life-t3827732
but i m not sure it will work since in my case it is not recognised and download mode doesn t stay on and phone goes back to bootloop?
One of the issue I thought was it might be due to usb connector, might the port is having issue as i used another cable as the lg one was not working anymore at some point?
If connecting phone, phone is charging but no connection can be done.
Was thinking trying to change the port but to do it here is not so easy as no spare part locally.
I don t have soldering tools here and going via a shop will cost a bit and long delay, before doing it would anyone know if it might solve the issue or I m going a wrong way and issue is not link to connector?
Thanks

help me troubleshoot my galaxy a3 A300FU.

hello everyone, I recently received a galaxy A3 A300FU that had problems of bootloop, my cousin send it to me so I can help him with the problem, since he was not going to do a factory reset (because he has a lot of pictures of his now deceased wife may her soul rest in peace) I was going to try a dirty firmware install or a 3rd party program like "fonedog or thenorshare" but when the phone got to me the phone had no sign of life, nothing, no booting no splash screen nothing the phone is completely dead, I called him to know if the phone had a damage screen before, he swears not, so the phone has to be damaged in shipping or it may be another problem that I'm not aware of, I tested the motherboard and the battery with a multimeter I found the voltage is good and all the connections were good, everything seemed to be alright.
So my question is: -is there any way to know if the screen is still working with it not turning on ?
-if not, how can I recover the data knowing that the screen is black and the phone shows no sign of life besides
the tests I did with the multimeter that were all good ?
note: for now I have no way of buying spare parts to test with.
Thank you for reading, I hope you doing great stay safe
sorry for the spelling English isn't my first language
