Hey,
I'm looking for a way to turn on wifi every morning. I've tried different apps like automate but none of them seem to work.
Also I want to launch an app (yeelight, for light alarm in the morning) at a certain time.
Any ideas?

I don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work in the and. I already tried different App like tasker. It looks like it's an MIUI problem.

I know the LED notification on the Sprint CDMA Hero times out after about 5 minutes. I was wondering if there is a to make it keep blinking forever as long as their is a notification.
I think Handcent and maybe some other 3rd party messaging software can have a setting to make it blink however long you want, but I would like to be able to control this without installed a different messaging program and have to worry about it draining battery and stuff. Also, I like the stock messaging app.
Does anyone know of an easy way to do this? Thanks!
I second this.
Anyone?

No simple setting to change it to work with stock software(excluding market apps that have functionality)... needs to be edited within the rom files.

Yea, this is what I was thinking maybe someone could do. It was possible in Windows Mobile (Touch Diamond for example), so Im guessing it could be possibility on Android? But of course I wouldn't know where to start. Maybe a dev could look into this?
Thanks for the input
Hi guys,
I'm running a very stable Android build at the moment:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
and everything seems to be working almost flawlessly. I think the last thing I'm really looking for is something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478519
It was the first app I always installed when updating my Windows 6.5 roms and basically what it allowed you to do was set parameters for when your data (3G connection) would remain active i.e you could set it to turn off 3G when the screen turned off or set it to only turn on 3G when apps were syncing etc.... Is there anything similar on Android? All I seem to find are apps that allow you to turn 3G on or off manually. Is there anything that can automate the process like WMLonglife did?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

APNdroid. Sense ROMs should have a toggle built in for you to turn on/off the data.
If your rom is based on CM7, you should use the power widget thats in there.

Thanks,
No Sense for me though. I only use native Android roms. Sense was great for WinMo but I've always liked the Android only experience. Thanks for the tip though.

Hi,
Thanks but, as I said in my OP, I was wondering if there is an app that will do it automatically when needed rather than you having to click data on/off every time you want to disconnect. I beleive UltimateJuice does something like this but I don't beleive it is compatible with Gingerbread yet. Any other ideas anyone?
Thanks
maybe timeout 3g? it disables 3g when screen is off. you can manually set time after 3g is disabled.
If you don't have Gingerbread, try DCSwitch app...
I think it's better than APNDroid.

Thanks, I use JuiceDefender already but it's not fully compatible with Gingerbread yet and can't control data (the paid for version). I'll check out Green Power though.

I keep my GPS turned of when I'm not using it, and Google Maps is never running in the background.
Do you use Google Latitude or have any maps/latitude widgets on screen? those will cause this activity.

When I cooked my ROM, I took everything out that ran in the background that I never used;
Clearfi, Media Server, etc. but never touched anything related to GPS, or maps, so I have no idea why it wouldn't be running on mine, and running on yours. Which version of HC are you running?

Use system tuner pro and freeze any app.it won't run again until you boil it.
I think that the maps service will run if you have 'shared your location' with the browser or other apps that use maps for location specific information. This can be switched on in Settings -> location and security.

No, but you can make sure everything related to location in your settings is turned off as stated by someone else?
Check under Settings and disable anything related to location, besides GPS (really not needed to disable, it only runs when an application that use GPS is running) .
See my screen capture.

My bet is your problem lies in your ROM/Kernel mix, but just a guess then.

Possibly, was wondering if anyone else encountered the same problem before i start messing around with changing kernels or roms. Plenty of people using this combination and haven't seen any posts with same problem as me. Thanks for the help anyway. Maybe I'll try a different kernel

Quick question Moe. Why do you use a custom kernel? Do you overclock?
Just asking, because when I first got my tab I must have flashed every ROM and kernel that was out at the time, and found none with less problems, and more stable than the stock 3.2 kernel.
Nothing more than curiosity.

To be honest I'm just trying stuff out to see what all the fuss is about. Both seem to be highly recommended so when i decided to go custom I just went with those two.
i was wondering if there is a way to launch an app or something based on GPS location.

ok cool. how do u think that will affect battery life?
also, i feel like for some reason i remember seeing an option within the S4 to change stuff based on location, such as ringtone/vibrate settings when at work, or silence the phone at certain times automatically....wasnt that built in somewhere? i cant for the life of me find it anywhere.
Hi,
My Use for all screens stopped working. Anyone experience this or know how to fix it? It's checked in the One-handed operation option.
Thanks.

I haven't been able to get mine to work period. I have disabled and enabled the feature multiple time and I just can't get it to work.....
Use it all the time. Might be an issue with a specific version of the phone or if you have modified it somehow.

I have the T-Mobile version and it worked in the beginning, but now I can't get it to work
A shame since I was just getting used to it and how to gesture it on and off.
This seems to be a Samsung issue rather than a carrier fault.
(mine is unlocked and in use on AT&T)
Would it be advisable to contact Samsung directly?
Go to Settings>Device>Accessibility, and check under "Services". Having apps turned on there can break the one-handed function.
I have NiLS for lockscreen notifications, but it seems to run fine even when the service permission is turned off.

Bingo! Thank You barnabydog!
The good news: It worked! I turned off the offending app and I'm back in business!
The bad news: The offending app was Pebble (smartwatch)
A feature that is more useful to me than the one handed mode . . .
So then is this the sad state of affairs? I have to choose between my Mini-screen mode and my smart watch?
How did you know about this barnabydog?
is there another thread that discusses this issue?
Yes, but I was too lazy to search for it.
