Hi, i was a looking for an aplication like ConnTwaek, this app works in this form:
"I recently fell into a nasty little evil trap with my Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone HTC MTeOR: After changeing my mobile phone contract to a supposedly cheaper tarif, i accidentely ran up a monthly bill of about 1000€, because my Smartphone did not automatically end the data connection. Well GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA is a packet based system, so usually you are billed per KB datatraffic. Some operators however think time based billing is a marvelous idea. So my phone was idle (= not transfering any data), but still connected... and alas...
Well naturally i cancelled my contract with that particular operator immediately after they refused to correct the bill and in order to avoid these problems in the future i wrote [ConnTweak V1.0.1], which allows setting the idle-timeout for the data connection. It should run with any Windows Mobile 5.0 based and application unlocked Smartphone. You also need to install the .Net Compact Framework 2.0.

I need when no there are data transmition then automatly disconect, ConnTwaek works more and less, it olnly let me configure 99 seconds, and only works sometimes, and i need restart the phone when i do any change, when y use live msn the program fails, in my operator country use EVDO or 1X for data
Well sorry for my english my phone is a Titan 6800 WM 6.1 i will wait your opinions, thanks
Guys,
Can using android damage some sim services like data connection???
My 1st sim, already 3 weeks now still there is no data. I'm at my 2nd sim now. Yesterday morning I have data connection, but on the afternoon untill now, I am having intermittent data WHERE IN when I try the sim of my friends (same network), I have data connection, stable. (same case in android and winmo)
I'm using android on my hd2 since the 1st batch of releases but this is the 1st time this happened to me.
I know if there is a real problem with it, devs could have experienced it 1st with there sim....But I was just thinking maybe there are some isolated cases.
Everything is working except data.
Thank you..

-Lol...You really are very supportive Pongster...Thank you but I have tried my sim in a nokia cellphone but still the same...
Thanks for the answer...
So a couple of weeks ago I bought a new HTC desire outright on Telus. I got it unlocked to use with my rogers prepaid sim card. So far so good.
But when popped it in, set up the apn and tested out the internet, I got a message saying: "Before using the mobile internet, you must have a valid mobile internet option. To continue, select from the following:" and it went on to list the data day and week passes for smartphones.
But, i DO have data. I have the socialite 20 prepaid data plan which includes
unlimited internet. Before the desire, I was using the plan with my blackberry bold just fine. Anyone have any ideas as to why my generic data plan worked on my bb but not my htc?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
Maybe cause your on a blackberry specific plan ?
im not really sure never had this problem
then again i never used an unlock phone on rogers just got a phone with a 3 year contract :\
That's what i thought at first. but I'm just on a regular data plan.
something similar happened like that and I called rogers who assured me out was a glitch in their system. just needs a data reset.

so all i have to do is ask rogers to reset my data?
I remember that the unlimited data only applies to the selected payg rogers phones using the wpa network?
5. Includes unlimited on-device mobile browsing, excluding tethering (use of device as wireless modem) on select Rogers certified devices (excludes smartphones). Usage subject to Rogers Terms of services and Acceptable usage policy; rogers.com/terms. Data transmission charges of 5¢/page viewed when roaming in the US and 25¢/page viewed when roaming internationally apply. Visit Rogers.com/mobileinternet for details.

However, if it turns out to work for you then I might get that plan too

i think he meant "wap"
also, I'm not sure if you've called rogers yet but i know that plans are dependent on phones anymore - for example you can use your blackberry on an iphone data plan and vice versa - when I HUPed to the iphone 4 i was on a regular data on one line and a blackberry on another - i thought I would have to switch both lines to iphone plans but they said that it's been set so that I can switch "data" between both phones so no plan change was necessary.
I think you should just call Rogers and see what they say, likely what will happen is they will "reset" your data and you'll remove the battery and the sim for 10 seconds then put everything back and it should work fine.
I don't think pay as you go is any different but I'm speaking from contract experience

Well, I gave that a try, but no dice. , when i turned on my phone after they reset my data, i still got the same message, any ideas? The person i was talking to said that it would only work with feature phones and not smartphones. But obviously not as i could use my blackberry...
Any help, ideas, or opinions, ate greatly appreciated.
And I could just get an android data plan but I can't afford paying around 60 bucks per month for the amount of data I use, around 3 gigs.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Naive question : have you tried to put your SIM (the present one you have in your Desire) in your old Blackberry ?
If it's not working either then definitely a problem with your carrier (probably misconfiged your plan when you changed your phone). Just call'em again and again...Sorry no more ideas then...
If it's working in your BB and not your HTC then probably a conf problem on the phone itself OR (like said earlier) your data plan (not the fees you pay or the customer contract but I mean the real configuration of your profile in the network) that is not the same for a BB and a regular smartphone.
That's nearly always the case, BB using different data services that other constructor....If that's the case then......calling carrier support again and again and again to make them correct that...
As for the network conf of the HTC itself, I guess you have verified everything, especially the APN part ?

so i gave that a shot and it works fine in the bb, and yea i double checked my apn settings, guess im just going to have to bug rogers untill they point me in the right direction
I think your problem is that you are not using a valid smartphone data plan, the unlimited internet option is only available to Roger's dumbphones/bb. If everyone were able to get unlimited internet on their smart phones with $10 a month, there wouldn't be a need for a data plan right?
so i found something interesting today,
if i toggle the data on and immediatly load a page, news feed, video, whatever, i can get maybe 3-5 seconds of working data, which is progress
its as though it starts and then identifies the phone i have, and sees that its a smartphone, so it shuts it off... or is this a phone problem?
also, if it is and i.d. thing, is there any way to make your phone appear as though its a dumbphone? sort of like changing the user agent or something?
thanks in advance
i hope you've had your data plan restored, but in case you haven't, i asked Rogers for a "special reset".
i rooted and flashed cyanogenmod 6.1
my data was working
then when in windsor, it lost my Rogers (Canada) data network but logged on to an American AT&T data network
Even when Rogers was available again, and AT&T was not, it just never came back.
the technician told me it might have stuck to the AT&T network and a data reset would fix it.
it did!
OK so my 3g was working fine before i permanent root my G2 and flashed a custom rom.
When i was using the custom rom i could only connect to wifi for internet.
I just reverted everything back to stock and the problem remains.
the problem is the "H" sign will appear with flashing arrows but webpages, market, youtube doesn't load anything. I get the error of no data connectivity.
i tried switching to EDGE but the same thing happens.
i know the APN is correctly set. AND its not a service issue because i tested same sim card on different phones and it downloads normally.
i Have no idea how to fix this
please help me, thanks
changing your current radio could fix the problem
Ive tried 4 different radios and its the same. I think i know whats the problem but can anybody confirm it?
I came from an tmobile HD2 which was wm6.5 so my internet is "smartphone unlimited data"
whereas i believe i need a specific "android data plan".
Is there a workaround for this ?
Nope. I came from an HD2 to a G2 and had to get an Android data plan. The good news was that I called T-Mobile and complained about the extra $5 and acted all upset and what not and they gave me the Android data plan for $25 like my Smartphone data plan was.
Darn ok so i guess calling them would be the only solution to fix it.
Did they say you had to pay extra to get 4g speed or is it included with that 25dollar plan?
They say that they can't guarantee 4g speeds and they just don't know but I can tell you. You definitely get the 4g speeds. Look at my sig. That's on the data plan I'm using now.
My data was working completely fine on the 3G network. I was using the CM 10 rom which is fantastic by the way. This probably is completely unrelated to the ROM but I figured I would ask anyways to see if someone has had a similar experience.
I upgraded my mobile data today to 2 GB from 1 GB on T-Mobile and now all of a sudden I cant access my data ANYWHERE unless I am on WIFI. Why would this happen? Is this a T-Mobile doing or a ROM issue?
Thanks in advance!

The fact that you have changed your mobile data prescription has nothing to do with the mobile internet access.
Still, you can try the settings in "Settings/Mobile network settings" or "Settings/Defy Parts/Baseband selection" and even cash /dalwik wipe from the CWM.
