I use the "macrodroid" app (similar to Tasker) to automate some things. Basically, the device works as it should. When it is started for the first time, the device boots and Macrodroid loads. But: some macros are executed - others not.
After ignition off, the device goes into sleep mode, then I turn on ignition within a few seconds, macrodroid is still active. If the ignition is switched off for a longer period, macrodroid will no longer be active. This behavior is apparently normal: all unnecessary apps are killed. That would not be a big problem if some system settings were not reset:
All permissions that I have assigned to Macrodroid to perform certain actions are reset. So some macros work, other won't. So I have to manually reset all authorizations every time after a long ignition-off.
In addition, the Google TTS setting for increasing the volume during text output does not survive the sleep mode: this is also reset again and again.
Is there any way to protect these settings and / or set them automatically when restarting / waking up?
Thank you very much

Hi,
My mobile gets locked after 20minutes of user-inactivity due to corporate security restrictions. This can unfortunately not be turned on.
This is extremely annoying when I use my phone as navigation system (tomtom) as I have to press the screen or a key every 20 minutes or less in order for the phone not to go to the lock screen.
Does anyone know how I can simulate some user interaction? It should preferably be an action that does not actually activate anything (e.g. it does not actually do a screen or button press) as this could interfere with the software running (in my case TomTom).
thanks in advance
You can disable the lock.
First you need to enable the box under "Settings -> Personal -> Lock" again to be able to untick it.
This can be done in the registry:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001023
0 = Enabled; 1 = Disabled
Then install Zenyee.com Stay Unlock.cab and soft reset your device.
This program will prevent the lock to be activated again.
thanks I will try that.

Hi kimusan,
I have a mortscript running in the background (Whenever I start my Navigation, because my screen will switch off after 2 minutes). The mort-script sleeps 60 seconds and after that it resets the timer. Then sleeps again and so on.
I start the the script directly with my navigation program and stop it after the window of the navigation does no longer exists...
If you need the script-file I will send it to you...
For my PPC it works really well.
Hope this will help.

Please bear with me as this may be a dumb newbie question. I searched every post on the Imagio section here and at PPC and was unable to find an answer.
Got the Imagio for my wife and she's loving it (we had Storms previously- bad, bad mojo). She uses Groovefish to stream music and the stock dimmer setting will shut down the player after the time limit is reached. No problem, right? Changed the setting to stop this (never auto shut down on battery power).
Now, the screen will dim somewhat when left idle, but never shuts down all the way. It's dim but still active. She's been having to change the setting every time in order to not kill the battery.
Should the screen power down all the way while leaving the device active (like hitting the "shut off screen option" after holding the end button)? If not, is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide. I've done nothing but Blackberries for years and this is my first real foray into WinMo.
Try to check the power settings. Go to the Settings Tab and push All settings at the bottom. From there go to System > Power > then click the Advanced tab. That should have settings to turn off the screen after 1 min or 30 seconds.
Thanks for the quick reply. I probably should have been a bit more clear.
It is in that menu that I have been manipulating the settings. There are two options for battery power. There is one to "turn off backlight" after x amount of time, the other is to "turn off device". With backlight set to 30 (or whatever) and device disabled, the screen never completely goes off.
It functions properly with "turn device off" enabled, but interrupts Groovefish when playing. This does not interfere with the native TF3D media player. While its not the end of the world if she ends up having to change that setting to use the program, it would be nice to be able to disable the screen with a partial shutdown (and extra battery drain when using that application).
Cheers!
Thats interesting, seems like its the program thats doing that. I have Opera, FM radio, email client, etc. running all day without it crashing. I have seen this before with Internet Explorer where i would leave it running connected to a website. then when i check back IE is gone and i have to start it again. By any chances is this a website or an installable app that you are using?
Groovefish is a streaming music client that is installed on the device
BTW, it is incredibly cool if you don't have it yet. Stream just about any song you want for free (legally).

I use g-trigger to shake my phone to turn off the display works great! Just disable the shake to turn it back on.
I'll give it a shot and see if the application stays running. Many thanks!
Actually I think backlight off is happening when it "dims". You need the screen to go off, not just the backlight. Try using xdaShutdown to go into Lightsout mode and see if that works for you. The program can be found here:

Hi All,
I have been having trouble with the phone.
The screen has been turning on by itself and not turning off. The screen will not turn off until i hit the power button. It will not turn off until the phone is out of battery.
Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!
Want to bump this up ... having the same issue. I've uninstalled nearly every app (at least the ones I'd think would be problematic) and it's still happening. I've downloaded Spare Parts today to see if I could figure it out but I don't have enough data yet.
Anyone else have this issue? Even when I press the lock button, I sometimes need to press it multiple times to get the screen to turn off.
I too am having this problem and boy does it suck battery lol

Do you guys have power saving mode enabled or disabled? Just curious, since that's one of the only things (in addition to message notifications) that affects the screen.
can it have anything to do with automatic updates?
i never had this issue. before or after root. i just rooted two days ago
I had this problem before and after root. I also did a factory reset and I thought it was fixed ... but now it's doing it again.
Happens w/ Power Saving mode enabled and disabled.
I've figured out a semi-solution to this which seems to be working:
With Advanced Task Killer:
Enable Auto Kill Frequencey "When screen off"
Set Auto Kill Level to "Aggressive"
Set Security Level to "Medium"
Don't forget to put any apps you don't want killed in the ignore list (like WidgetLocker, your music player, etc.)
This seems to keep the screen locked for me ... but I still can't figure out what app/process is the culprit in waking the screen when it goes to sleep.
I personally don't use it, but I know it is a powerful app and since it can be set up to do many things,, I was wondering what custom thing's users are doing with it.
I'll maybe jump on board as well.
List your favorite things you use Tasker for.
I use it to silence my phone whenever my calendar says i'm working. That's about it really. Some of the things I bought it for are built into Android now but I paid for it so I make myself use it lol

I use it primarily to automate my phone's security.
When I'm home ---> phone connects to home wifi ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns bluetooth off and adjusts my volumes
When I leave home ---> phone disconnect from wifi ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; turns bluetooth on and adjusts my volumes
When I get in my car ---> phone connect to car's bluetooth ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns volumes all the way up
When I leave my car ---> phone disconnects from bluetooth ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; adjusts volume
When I get to work ---> phone connects to work wifi ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns bluetooth off and turns of vibration mode
When I leave work ---> phone disconnects from wifi ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; turns bluetooth back on
For me, this makes my phone secure when i need it to be and insecure when I know I'll be using it. At home, in my car and at work are all times that I have my phone on me and actively using it. I don't need a secure screen so I turn it off automatically with Tasker. When I'm away from any of these places I know I'll have a pattern lock in case I lose my phone. Piece of mind and very easy to set up.
I use tasker for a ton of other things (including quiet hours) but security is my most important use.
Here are some I have:
2 sound profiles to put the phone into silent mode at night and during work hours.
An auto off bluetooth profile that turns bluetooth off if it is disconnected for more than 15 minutes.'
3 music profiles all of which auto launch Google Music and auto play and set volumes depending on which bluetooth device or headset is connected. Line in headset also disables lockscreen, car bluetooth puts phone into landscape in the car dock, bluetooth headset disables lockscreen.
360 degree rotation when charging.
Overheating warning.
when it connects to my work wifi > adjust ringer volume to half
when i'm within 100m from the gym > turn BT on
when phone is docked/charging > turn BT on
that's all i've had a chance to dig into as of now. i know there are tons of other more advanced profiles to use/set up, but i haven't bothered with learning them.
1) turn pattern lock off when on home wifi
2) take a photo of anyone putting pattern lock in wrong (twice) and email me the photo
3) when closing the camera app,.look for all photos less than 15 minutes old and upload them using foldersync to my NAS via sftp
4) Schedule Nandroid backup every 4am on Saturday morning (ensure previous nandroid backup has been uploaded to NAS)
5) backup /sdcard every night to NAS
6) (Task only) - homescreen shortcut to flash all zips in alphabetical order in folder /sdcard/AFlash/zips

I use a profile to turn off the lock when I'm home, and turn it back on when I'm away.
One to turn off the Wi-Fi when not home and back on when I get back home
And another to download the national geographic photo of the day and set it as the wallpaper every morning.

For those with Tasks relative to being in the car, how are you determining that location?
I've been using the invert of my Home location, but that's not quite refined enough.
Can Tasker detect the uConnect BT in my Jeep? Or maybe by detecting accelerometer motions?
Curious.

Tasker can use your connect to BT to trigger actions.
You can have your device turn on BT (for a set number of minutes) when you disconnect from your Wifi. Then when it connects to your car via BT, it can turn off Wifi and/or open up your music player and increase the volume. Or do any number of things.

That list is a bit old list but I'm always adding or trying differnet things. Starting to use Scenes more now. Like the Sleepy Time one is now a Notification that pops up only during certain time then when I click it there is a small Scene with simple buttons, see attached images.
Also use Tasker to give me info in DashClock. Using OpenMic+ to launch Tasker stuff will make for some fun stuff too.
i use nfc tags associated with my car and home stuff. a tag has a tasker task linked to it. I also use a gym task/profile where when i get within 300m of the gym it turns bluetooth on adjusts volumes etc.

Hi,
how do you trigger the "quiet hours" setting with tasker? I want to have different startiing/ending times for quiet hours - including white list for calling. So I thought I try to find a way to trigger it from tasker.
Any ideas here?
cheers,
Tom
Settings/Display/Sleep. It's always set on 1 minute, whether I change it or not. I've tried setting it to 5 mins and it goes right back to 1 min. None of my changes will stay. Always 1 min. My tab is not rooted and its up to date.
I cannot find the answer anywhere. Any searches I make on Sleep never give me the correct search. I am at my wits end. It's extremely annoying when reading something and the display closes down. I always have to press the Power button to wake it up.
Please give me some suggestions.
Thanks
Restart in safe mode and test if it works.
(To restart in safe mode push power button until the shutdown dialog appears in screen, then push it but don't release it until safe mode dialog appears)
If it works the problem is caused by a third party app so you need to look for that app and change its configuration of uninstall it (should be an app related with energy or screen management, a screen filter, etc...).
