sound in phone calls doesn't work - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

ok,
so the sound in phone calls doesn't work, the speak is working perfectly, so as the music etc.
this happened when i was in Lineage, then changed to PE10, so i guess the OS is not to blame
i've changed the LCD screen - including frame - a month ago , but the sound was ok (just thought it important to mention)
1. what could be the problem?
2. which part is responsible for the phone calls sound? maybe it got detached ?
thanks

ok so im guessing i might have done a mistake while reconnecting the earpiece, or it got damaged with the lcd.
anyways i will have to re-open the device and check it out

Loudspeaker no longer working

I've got a bit of a problem with my hermes. For quite a long while now the speakers have just not been working. The speaker for the phone works but the ringer and loudspeaker don't work. Initially after a soft reset it would work for about half an hour again and then stop working.
I don't think it's software related as I have flashed my phone a couple of times since it started.
If anyone could help me out with this at all I would be incredibly grateful as it is intensely annoying not being able to hear calls coming in.
Thanks,
Stuart
I had a similar problems with the speaker. It was because there is a cable from the speak to the mainboard that can become disconnected. I dropped my phone and the connector became lose. If you take you keyboard part of the phone apart you will see the small cable running from the speak to a port on the board, just reconnect it and it should work.
Tim is right. Do a search and it will lead you to a thread with pics so you can see how to fix it. It's a simple repair. I've had to do it twice on mine in a year.
Thanks a lot guys.
I'll try and find that.

dropped phone!!

yesterday i dropped my phone & i have now lost the ability to talk or hear while making a call. when i recieve a call my phone rings but i cannot have any type of conversation. i also get no sound from media player etc. if i use a bluetooth connection or a wired earpiece it is fine so i am a little confused as to what is wrong.
does anyone have any suggestions?
if it works with bluetooth then you have obviously dislodged the contacts of the speaker or broke the connection, open it up and make sure the connectors are still making contact find any post by mike shannon and click on his webpage link and download the wizard service manual. That will show you how to take it apart and also where the speaker and connections are located
thanks
i have the manual already so i will open her up tonight & have a look see!
i just found it odd that the person i am talking to (but cannot hear) cannot hear me either is the microphone & speaker on the same circuit perhaps?

Hey, if you've already done it - how'd it go?
I went through a similar ordeal and the earpiece stopped working. I did a soft reset and VOILA! Everything back to normal.
Then the same thing happened just recently without any physical shock to the phone. Had to do a hard reset - but it worked!
No the microphone isnt on the same circuit, but they are connected to the circuit boards in the same way, the speaker and microphone just sit on contacts rather than hard wired to the board so they can be easily replaced.
Its possible that the shock has moved them. I had this problem with my first wizard with the speaker, but it wasnt the contacts in my case.

Well sounds like it might be hardware. If you've done a few hard resets and tested before installing any software and the problem is still there sometimes, then I'd say it's hardware.
The m/board on the Hermes is not one that you can really work on with ordinary soldering tools. A repair shop could check by using a heat gun to check the contacts on the Mic. If that fails then it's likely either the mic coil or a problem with the contacts at or coming from the USB connector.
Mike
I say something more. Now i hear myself on voice note but really quiet like 1/10 normal volume.

Yes, but even with an open circuit / damaged coil, cracked connection, you can sometimes have sufficient leakage current to get a faint response from things like microphones and speakers. I still think it's probably hardware - but thoroughly check all the software possibilities eg clean install, stock ROM etc.
Hm i open hermes but im noob in that stuff so everythink look fine for me with microphone. I clean that think to protecting microfone. The problem of couse dont disappear. But.. its look like always when I plug in usb to spv, microphone start working fine.. Not always but moust of time it is solution.. If it is a hardware what i should to recommand to replace in service? Microphone?
ignore me, re-read what you put and decided i was a nab

Noise in the speaker - ideas?

Since a couple of days I started to hear some noises in the speaker when calling or receiving a call. It's something like hearing the other person outdoor with the wind blowing, and its getting worse when I am moving.
Any idead what to do before sending Blackstone to the provider? I tried to change rates/bands from 3G/GSM because I played with it before and also reflashed the rom with 1.7 DUtty's - no effect. I think I am gonna reflash the radio - not sure if that would help.
PS I've also checked the speaker in search of hair, dust, debris - it's clear but doesnt sound like. Funny thing - the voice in the headset are perfect also the music is alright so I am getting the feeling that it could be software issue.
Please kindly advise
another strange issue - I did a hard reset and the noise is gone (using the 3g) however when lying down on bed talking through it in the horizontal position I can hear that noise again (although not so loud and often as before which is fine)
could it be the g-sensor issue?
Had The exact same problem with my first 2 touch hd`s. I got both replaced on warranty. The first one worked at first but got gradually worse. The second one came like that. I am now on my third and no problems so far.
Tried everything to fix the first 2. New radios, hard reset. Nothing seems to fix it.
why there's no interference when on loudspeaker or playing music? seems that the speaker is fine.
checked the sim in other phone - fine. WTF? I'll try to reflash the radio tomorrow if not sending it back to be replaced.
How to obtain orange fault code which is needed by my phone provider? call the cs?

Different speaker problem

So I had cracked my screen. Went to replace it with a new screen.
The replacement process went very smoothly and after the phone was re assembled everything works perfectly -- EXCEPT for the loudspeaker, which does not work at all.
The funny thing is that I did not even touch the loudspeaker, it was attached to the board which was moved from one frame to the other.
Tried starting in safe mode to eliminate any chance it was software....
Finally I figured that i possible messed it up somehow so I ordered a replacement speaker off ebay.
Replaced it but still no sound at all -- nothing from the loudspeaker. This means also no ringer, only vibrate.
I am really at a loss as to what to do next. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem ?
I need a phone that rings !!
I know that this is an old thread but did you find a solution? I'm facing the same problem with one of these phones.
