MM Root it's not possible in any way locked bootloader devices. only way unlocked bootloader and custom kernel. Stock kernel root impossible.

Thanks for the reply.
It is knowing that commands operating in MM, thought he could do the same in LP, have root eventhough have locked bootloader, all for ADB commands.
"I die" wait to unlock my bootloader; but my model is not unlockable officially. H815P
I understand the language. It is indeed instruction to get root on MM with locked bootloader. Only tested on f500 and OP is the only 1 with success so far. Lets wait and see if more will come up
Edit: this is NOT root for locked bl on MM. OP just made it clear to me on the other site

No. Currently and for the forseeable future it is NOT possible to root Marshmallow with a locked bootloader.

Do you want me to quote all three posts again?
Root on Marshmallow requires a modified kernel. You cannot boot a modified kernel with a locked bootloader.
I don't know about other models, but H811 allows you to unlock the bootloader and root on Marshmallow, but it's not via supersu injection.
Well months have been passed. Any news about to root H815P? I still have my Bootloader locked and LG's site says that my model cant be unlocked. Any idea?
Guys. This is for sending files to the phone kinda like adb. Not root. It more like for executing files that are already on the phone.
IN No WAY IS THIS A ROOT METHOD
YOU CANNOT ROOT MM WITH A LOCKED BL. ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN ANYTIME SOON

Rooting MM with Superuser ... is not possible with locked bootloaders as Chainfire's method requires modification of the boot partition and that equates to a brick with bootloaders that are not officially unlocked through LG.
Downgrade to LP, root and install steadfasterX's TWRP-in-FisH @ https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/locked-twrpinfish-locked-g4-devices-t3573048 if you want a working custom recovery version that will work on LG G4's with locked bootloaders. Version 3 Beta 4 & 5 are very stable - download links are in later posts on his site.
He is working on porting EFIdroid in FisH, that if successful will eventually allow one to boot custom roms, i.e., you may be able to have your rooted MM with a locked bootloader at some point ... just not yet.

If on MM you will first have to downgrade to LP with LGUP-NEW at https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803 if you are able to. You will have to search for an H815P10 stock rom. Then see if you can find a pre-rooted image of that rom. You can follow this guide to obtain root or install a pre-rooted image if you are able to find one: Root ANY LG G4 Variant 100% Success Directives | Root Injection | Less Bricks at https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586.
If you want a custom recovery for your locked bootloader, check this out by steadfasterX: [LOCKED][G4][TWRP][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP-in-FIsH for all locked G4 devices at https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/locked-twrpinfish-locked-g4-devices-t3573048
You will not be able to install a custom rom, however, but steadfasterX is working on EFIdroid-inFisH that, if successful, will eventually allow the installation of a custom rom on a locked bootloader.
Hope it helps.

hey guys,
Hope I am not too late, I found a way around this.
What I did was downgrade from Marshmallow to Lollipop.
I did it by using the LGUP program and following this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/fix-unbricking-lg-g4-h818p-stuck-t3707485
In short what I did was:
1. Download the kdz
2. Download LGUP and install it, then the dll thing that comes in the archive.
3. Install LG drivers
4. Put device in download mode by pressing up and inserting a usb cable when device is powered off
5. start LGUP and select "Refurbish"
6. in the path select the kdz (even though its looking for tot files).
7. Flash Lollipop and boot
8. Go back to download mode, now you have Send_Command.exe
Then I flashed "H815L 10F.kdz" which gave me stock Lollipop on 815L. I am not sure where I got it, It was sitting on my disk. But basically anything which has H815L (for the model), and 10 which means its Lollipop should work.
Then I could go in to download mode and run Send_Command.exe

NOTE: All LG G4's (with the exception of H818), can be unlocked unofficially now with steadfasterX's: [UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU, provided you are on stock Marshmallow and your ARB is less than or equal to 2.
I.E., you can now install a custom TWRP recovery, root and upgrade to Nougat, Oreo etc.
My phone is unlocked and rooted. It wants to download the OTA but I know that Motorola says on their site you will have problems with the OTA. Should I download it or Should I flash a ROM.

You must be PURE stock to take an OTA update, or it will fail and bootloop... Flash a rom if you wish.
What i did was make a back up of everything just incase and then look up the ota version on your phone and get it in the rom section and look up twrp flashable OTAs and just flash it. you might lose root but its easy to get back if you flash magisk again.
You can found the right guide here:

Of the current version? lol, no, we wish... we are averaging 3-6 months behind OTA releases for full ROM images, if we get them at all. Moto does not officially provide them, so they have to be leaked somehow, and sources are completely dried up yet, but it's getting there. :/
Hi. Can I get Oreo Ota for mi xt1670 with rooted device but locked BL? I'm on stock everything. Thanks.

You can't be rooted with a locked bootloader so your question is obsolete.
You can apply to OTA with an unlocked bootloader.
You can't if you're rooted or changed anything else in /system or /vendor.

Thanks for the reply. Very clear! Please I need more help. The thing is...I don't want the oreo ota right now. This is my mother's phone so I don't want any problem. Nougat is just fine for now. So I need to stop the upgrade notification spam. I believe I must unlock BL, then root, then freeze the upgrader app. Is that correct? I can't force stop the app. That's for now.
I've read bad reviews about oreo battery drain and other stuff. That's why I'm trying to avoid it.
If someday I want it, maybe will install some rom.
Thanks bro.
EDIT. Does this make sense? Or should I stay stock everything and take the ota/ignore the spam everyday?
EDIT 2. Another question. What happen if I take the oreo ota, and i don't like it. Can I unlock BL, root, install some nougat rom, as a pseudo downgrade?

Oreo ist absolutely fine, no problems with it.
I haven't heard of any issues like increased battery drain, for me nothing changed at all regarding battery and the rest is also working flawlessly.
It would be a lot of action to unlock and root the device just to stop the updater service.
If you don't have any other plans that need root privileges I recommend just taking the OTA (s).
If you want to run another ROM later you can always unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, root the device and install any kind of custom ROM, Nougat, Oreo or Pie. There are also TWRP flashable stock firmwares which make it easy to move between different stock versions.

That's good. A pseudo downgrade is possible. Thanks man. I'll think about it. And yes, the root privileges is just for stopping the updater.
Cheers
EDIT. Man, are you sure about this? Taking the Oreo Ota, and in the future unlock BL, root and install whatever rom?

Yes I am.
Just check some of the custom ROM threads, there are some that need stock Nougat as base but the most of them need Oreo. For custom ROMs there are no up/downgrading problems, that's only the case for stock firmwares.
And as said above, there are TWRP flashable stock builds that doesn't have these problems too and will bring you to whatever stock firmware you want, not just pseudo. (Here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...o-twrp-flashable-stock-builds-coming-t3830482 )
So if you're on stock Oreo after unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP all options are open for you. Just don't forget to make a full nandroid backup incl. EFS and persist before you flash anything.

Has anyone tried upgrading a rooted LG H91810j to H91810p? Did you still have root afterward? What about TWRP? I am concerned about losing root and losing the ability to roll back because of their "anti-rollback" mechanism in 10p.
Optional back story, for the curious:
I bought a refurbished LG V20 that was running software version H91810k out of the box. I immediately tried to root it with dirtycow, but dirtycow does not work on 10k. So I downgraded to 10j from 10k using LGUP, and then successfully rooted the phone with dirtycow. I then installed TWRP and then LineageOS.
Unfortunately, I just don't feel like LineageOS is where it needs to be for me on the V20. I lost a number of features, such as (1) the second display, (2) ability to use BOTH cameras on the rear, (3) quad hi-fi DAC for superior audio, (4) automatic wake/sleep when opening and closing my phone case, (5) encryption (!!!!).
I feel like there are just to many things missing, so I think I want to go back to the stock ROM, but I would like to stay rooted so I can at least get rid of the bloatware. Is this possible or am I going to lose root and TWRP via one of LG's updates?
You can keep root on stock rom but flash one thats 10k if you flash one that's 10p and you wouldn't be able to back to anything pass
10p. Weta has a 10k version look in there thread for details and instructions

I understand not being able to rollback/downgrade after hitting 10p, but let's just say I decided to upgrade to 10p+ anyway. Would I still have root and twrp?

Right, but I'm talking about being rooted without a custom ROM, i.e. running the stock ROM while rooted and having TWRP. Can I upgrade to 10p and beyond, and at least keep root/twrp, even if I can't roll back or install anything else?

Technically I'm running LineageOS (14.1-20171226-NIGHTLY-h918) but I want to go back to stock rom WITH root/twrp, because I lost a lot of features like second display, dual-rear-camera, quad hi-fi DAC, encryption (etc). I just don't think LineageOS is ready for this particular phone, for me. I am planning to revert to stock rom H91810j (re-root if necessary) and then upgrade to the latest stock rom, if I won't lose root that is.

Just saw your edit. So it sounds like the best way to upgrade is to flash it via TWRP rather than install it via the OTA updates? Can you (or anyone else) confirm it stays rooted when done this way?

Yes update via twrp, you keep root
You upgrade past 10k and you lose the ability to ever root your phone again in case you screw up and have to flash a KDZ.
Your choice.....

I have been rocking 10k just fine. There is support for a custom stock kernel. Personally, upgrading to 10r is not worth the risk, especially since there is nothing really new besides sercurity patches.
Well, I ended up flashing H91810r as per this thread and I am happy to confirm I still have root. Just thought I would post this for anyone wondering the same thing. Now I just have to remember to only update by flashing via TWRP, moving forward.
Pretty much just like everyone else here has said, always update via twrp. Never take the ota update when you're rooted. And didnt you make a backup? Why not just flash back to your original stock rooted room?
You mean we can flash Oreo 8.0 kdz and still have root intact?

Read the posts, NO. Flash a zip from a thread for your variant that's labeled as twrp flashable.
I'm currently custom rom/root/unlocked bootloader.
I'd like to return to OOS with root and unlocked bootloader.
Is it as simple as flashing a stock OOS image in twrp and then flashing magisk and twrp?
Can anyone spell out the order of the steps for me? I've searched and can't find any answers to this noob question. It's crazy, I can flash custom ROMs all day but my brain farts on returning to stockish lol.
Note that I'm using an originally TMobile variant, flashed to international.
I would be fine with using MSM and then unlocking my bootloader again, but would I use the standard MSM or the patched this time?
Bump would really like to go back to stock. Which MSM tool would I use being this was a tmo/intl conversion?

Are you trying to go back to the TMO version or international? If TMO use regular TMO msmtool, unlock bl, flash or boot twrp and flash magisk for root. If going to international.. same but with patched msmtool.

Best and easiest way would be to use patched msmtool from the convert TMO to international thread, unlock bl and root again. You will lose all data.
I've tried just about every major root app, various versions of Odin, ADB won't flash TWRP.... I've tried everything. This is my firmware version: g950usqs7dtb1. I realize it's a binary 7 because I've never had the option to turn off the auto software update. Am I screwed with a binary 7 firmware for a while?
Also, another question: I installed a combination file, and had to frantically search to get my firmware package back. Eventually found it on some semi-shady site, and had to pay about ten bucks for it. Is it possible for it to have a trojan? Some things are not working correctly, like I can't get my weather app to recognize the GPS and the swiftkey can't download a language pack.
Edit: Forgot to mention, ATT is the carrier. Not sure if that matters. Also, any help would be so much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You are screwed. If you look in the syndicate thread below. You can root 7.0 on bit 7. But as for custom ROMs,kernels. Actual twrp your screwed. This devices bootloader is permanently locked and is not unlockable
You can gain SU based system only root. To add things live viper for android. Some system debloat. But that is it. You are also limited to nougat. No root for oreo or pie. No los based ROMs if you are looking for custom you need a F model or a different device.
