Vilord's ext2 backup and senseHERO error.

So heres the low-down:
My (4GB) SD Card is partitioned as so:
1.8GB fat32
1GB ext2 (system)
1GB ext2 (data)
I've put the latest basefiles (20091116) in the fat32 partition along with the senseHERO 1.3.3 build. i boot up haret go through the installer for the data. finish all the steps and once it starts to boot, i either get "android_power wakeup" or "ERROR: CANNOT LINE EXECUTABLE 's/system/bin/sh' "
it wont boot into the build and it's kinda buggin me out man.
so if anyone has any idea on what i should do please help. thanks people
Not sure what the issue is, but your ext2 partitions are much much larger than they need to be.

yeah i'm gonna fix that. lol. so when running the vogue installer i hit volume down to start it. then do i hit volume down to wipe data or end. or do i basicly hit volume down all the way till it says press any key to boot?

First time around you want to run the recovery, then you want wipe data and and backup. Then you should be good to go.
Android power wakeup sounds like it's not using the proper init.rc file, confirm that you have the init.hero.rc in your init folder on the sdcard.

yup thats what i've been doing all this time, but still getting the android_power wakeup error. i dug into some older threads and found nothing really to my benifit, but i realized that its not vilord's backup method thats killing me, its either the build or my phone.

The nuclear option always seems to work... repartition the SD card, redownload the basefiles and a sytem file and just start from scratch.

ok. thats a step in the right direction, but i forgot to mention that imma COMPLETE NOOb at working with android and linux. imma windows man XD and i just got into the swing of useing a smartphone. so yea XD where is this init.hero.rc you speak of? and how would i "fix" it?
BTWS mssmison i used you ext2 partition backup on a donut build and it was flawless. made everything so much smoother and perfect. thats why i wanna do this to a hero build so i can have a hero android phone without actually coughing up my hard earned cash on one ... yet

your going to need a data partiton as well(another ext2 partition). Make both ext2 partitions 256mb and the rest fat32.The dma_mddi error happens to me and it boots fine..but the screen rotates upside down when you open the keyboard.

This thread is funny.
the screen flips down when you open keyboard because zimage24.. use zimage23 and that will be fixed... search it at deprecated in vogue-android
I would like step-by-step info on how to format my SD card to have an EXT2 partition.
I currently use Windows 7.
What tools or downloads are required? I've searched a bit but can't find a tutorial.
Thnx in advance!

[Q] A2SD help needed

Well I'm using RCMix3D on Desire HD and I installed darktremors A2SD script and I partitioned my SD card to 750mb named it "sd-ext" I've tried ext2/3/4 and none work.
When I use A2SD commands it just says like sd-ext not mounted and cant mount and stuff, I dunno what to do!
Thanks in advance!
Did you create the ext partition after the Fat32 partition?
Also I had better success using Gparted to do the partitioning.

[Q] regarding EXT4 via CWM

hi
i also have an olive pad & in a discussion in that forum i found out that if we use CWM to do to ext it does only ext2 & not ext4(see below link)
link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17028858&postcount=6
now my question is how to do we do EXT4part via CWM as i was told that we
need ext4 to be present on our SG3 for the apps2sd to work on the cooked roms
i do have the madteam apps apk can i use that
thanks in advance & sorry if this question was asked i could not find it

hi
thanks guys let me explain a little more on why this confusion
i also have a HTC tattoo on which i also have CWM
on the tattoo i have the option of converting ext2 to ext4 ie on the system CWM
we dont have the same and im not confy with the above mentioned tools. so will Madteam apps work for me
and again another reason for this confusion is that recently i have been having alot of problems with the cooked roms not working well and i feel maybe this is because of me having ext2 & the cooked roms need ext4.Do correct me if im wrong here

umm.. if u really want to use minitool or gparted.. then y takin so much pain to use cwm to partition.. partition ur sd directly to ext4..
FuguMod and G3MOD kernels are capable of converting file systems of sd-ext partition too
add this line to fs.convert and making the partition through cwm(and btw i think it makes ext3 partitions)
anyways here's the line
Code:
mmcblk0p2 ext4
hope it helps

IF you made a partiton, convert it to ext4-helps a lot (in other ways too because ext4 is far more better than ext2)
the partiton isnt needed for any cooked rom
it is just an addon so we can get more space for apps
If you can specify what kind of problems you are having and on which rom then i can help more

[Q] EMMC Partitioned!

By error, I partitioned my Internal SD Card or emmc with 4096 partition size in the CWM >> Advanced
Now, everything still works fine though at boot, it gives me a list of options and still continues to boot. But after booting, the ROM gives me touchscreen troubles and I'm unable to use the softkeys below (appears like the touchscreen calibration has gone kaput)
I wiped full data and tried re-installing but it still shows the same error. Can anyone throw light on this problem and how to rectify?

This from @gilbert32 should help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398464
Once you've booted up cLK you'll see the option to resize partition; it should be pretty self explanatory from there.
Resize partition => system => +25MB etc. => back => commit changes.
