Return to Stock - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Can anyone provide me a guide of what wipes I must do to return to the ROM stock from a Custom ROM? Both AOSP ROM and MIUI based ROM, thanks in advance

Just download the full recovery rom from here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/ and make a clean flash (wipe cache, dalvik art/cache, system and data). I recommend to use orangefox recovery and to make a backup of your files before making the clean flash. If you get a compatibility error just delete the compatibility.zip file from the rom zip. If you get a password request when boot to system make a format data.

[Q] Wipe system, Safestrap

If I wipe system in Safestrap does it just return that stock or ROM slot to the base ROM? Or does it uninstall the ROM too?
I'm running Jasmine ROM 2.0 and I wanted to run it clean. Can I just just wipe system once and the ROM will stay or do I have to flash the ROM again? I guess my question is, what exactly does wiping the system in safestrap do? Thanks.

It removes the current ROM so that you can do a clean install.

TWRP not wiping ?

I cant seem to find my way to FULLY wipe when I want to flash or try a new ROM. I just installed an RRO that resulted in SystemUI crash, I then went to reflash the ROM, same results. Decided to WIPE in TWRP and reflash the rom, the SystemUI FC is still there ! Wipe, Flash ROM, then Wipe, same result...Any help ? What's wrong with my TWRP ? Im on the latest.
I just restored an old backup, and I have the same FC of system UI !

TWRP doesn't wipe the vendor partition where the layer is kept. You have to manually mount the vendor partition in TWRP then use TWRPs inbuilt file browser to go into the overlay folder and delete the layer files, this will stop the System UI FCs
There are also flashable stock vendor partition files available in some of the threads in the Android development section (can't remember where exactly) flashing them will restore it to stock.
Finally, you can fastboot flash the whole stock ROM from a pc and this will also remove them.
Deleting them using TWRP is probably the easiest.

Will flashing a stock firmware with odin reset a custom rom?

I have the batman rom installed on my g95ff now since my stock rom got boot looped when i tried to flash a boot logo that was a size too big. When that happened i flashed the stock firmware with odin aswell as stock recovery and it let me clear my cache/factory reset my phone to fix it.Sadly i lost my bootlogo and boot animation collection i had stored but i had most of my important apps backed up with titanium,so to make up for the lost data i rerooted with twrp, installed the batman rom and restored my apps back. The rom is really neat since i can customize more ui things such as the status bar aswell as my nav bar color which couldnt be done on the stock rom.So now that im familiar with installing roms, would i be able to try other ones simply by reflashing the stock firmware over the batman rom and reinstalling twrp?
So you're asking how you can try other custom ROMs?
You don't need to flash the stock ROM and flash TWRP every time you want to try a new custom ROM. It's MUCH easier than that.
You just need to backup your apps as normal with Titanium Backup, then boot into TWRP. From the Wipe menu, wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik-cache.
Then just flash the new ROM zip file as normal in TWRP, and you're done.

So as long as you wipe your phone you can install custom roms over anough anoughter custom rom.Sounds simple enough then.

Yep, the "System" partition is where the ROM is installed. When you wipe that, you're essentially wiping the ROM from your phone.

If you can still get into TWRP, there is no need to install a stock ROM. If you do, you will not only have to reinstall TWRP, but it will also encrypt your data partition. Just make sure that you perform a wipe to do a clean install of whichever ROM you choose. Also, if you haven't ever formatted the data partition, that will prevent from backing up or installing a custom ROM. If that is the case, make sure you copy any files you have saved because, unlike a wipe, formatting the data partition will delete EVERYTHING on that partition.

Boot to recovery (I reccomend orangefox) wipe cache, dalvik, data, system > flash rom > flash gapps (optional) > flash magisk (optional) if after reboot it ask for password you have to format data (i've noticed that if you flash magisk before booting the system the password isn't required). If you come from miui maybe you need to flash vbmeta before rom (i'm not sure but it doesn't hurt)

If you don't have SD Card then don't wipe Internal Storage. But Clean Flash always recommend.

Ok so if you want to reinstall your app and data after flashing the rom you can backup with titanium backup or migrate. Reboot to recovery and wipe cache, dalvik, system and data after this flash the rom (you can flash it from internal storage) after the rom without rebooting to the system flash gapps (optional) and magisk (I reccomend to flash magisk so you can restore the backup and it avoid to have the problem with password request). Reboot to system

Maybe you have wiped also internal storage or format data? If you wipe just cache, dalvik, data and system you must found the files in the download folder.
Thank you bro

You're welcome. Aniway you can always download the needed files in your pc then connect the phone to it and transfer the files in the internal memory
