The screen dims after 8 seconds and locks after 11 seconds. Changing the screen lock timeout setting does nothing. Any ideas?

MIUI is so buggy. Try updating to the latest firmware version then factory rest. I had a different issue and that helped. There are other bugs in the system still tho smh

After upgrading my 16GB D802 from a beautifully working CM 10 to CM 13 the following problem occured:
After the screen shuts off (either by the phone going to standby or the proximity sensor in case of phone calls), it takes several attempts to activate the screen (you see the backlight turning on, but the screen stays black, then you have to click the power button to go into standby and try again til it works; tapping and pushing the power/standby button to wake the screen up work equally bad)
I tried going back to CM 10. On CM 10 the screen activates and deactivates as it should, but I had problems with very very unstable connections to wifi and cellular (which I had not before). (Also: I was stupid enough to not have made a backup of the previously stable CM 10 installation.)
All in all, I tested CM 13, 12, 11, and 10. 13 and 12 have the screen problem and 10 and 11 have the connection issue.
For all testing I used TWRP and the hybrid bootstacks.
Has someone experiences similar issues?
I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks so far!
Kind regards,
toas7
Cyanogenmod does not seem to be the problem. I've got the same issues with e.g. Mokee (MK51.1) and the Turbo ROM (Turbo-d802-4.0).
Might the bootstack be the culprit after all? Is there something that could have been gone wrong?
I tried the (zipped) stock ROM: the problem remains
Edit:
Flashing the modem (with a flashable modem) solved the issue with wifi and cellular on CM 11.
Software or hardware
Hello, I have the same issue but in addition the device is extremely lagged. Although I am still with stock mod and no root, by the moment. Could you help me?
After I rotate the phone and then toggle OFF the rotation button , the screen automatically rotate back to normal position, instead of remaining locked in horizontal position, and yes- I keep the phone physically rotated on its side the entire time
The phone is rooted with magisk, if it matters
What could cause this problem? I already tried to reset and disable developer options, which btw, would it make an issue booting the device if OEM unlocking won't be ON ?
-to make it clear - the screen rotation functions well when rotation mode is on, I just can't keep it in horizontal position
Thanks in advance
That's not a common error.
On both mine and my GF's A1 that setting works.
EDIT:
I just can't keep it in horizontal position

That's correct: You can't 'lock' screen to horisontal position!
Both untouched Android 8.0.0 April patch.
I thought this was normal behaviour for stock android? I understood only certain manufacturers allowed rotation lock in their ROM's like LG?
FYI: My stock A1 on April 8.0 returns to Portrait when rotation is turned off.
That's not an error. It's just how Android is designed to be.

On other android phones it's not the case, you can lock it on Samsung S8(oreo), Samsung S1 (stock) and on S1 with CM mod
Perhaps it was possible with the MI A1 before some of the latest updates too,I'm don't really remember, anyway, Xiaomi should return this function because it's useful and already exists in older and newer android phones WITH stock versions
Maybe the headache is from amoled flickering. I used two samsung amoleds before (s6 and a5) and had no issues with those. But after switching to mi 9T for 1 week i am getting headache.
I have seen some xiaomi phones have the options of dc dimming/ anti flickering mode under the display option. That might help but i cant find that on my phone. I am running MIUI Global 10.3.11
Same problem with my k20pro
Guys, I`m either with a sensitive sight.
I managed the problem by using OLED Saver app.
It is a bit tricky to setup with the settings, but once calibrated to your sense of light from the phone...
Recommend it.
In addition try to change the colour of the screen via phone menu by your sense, here is mine, a bit changed:
has anyone ever noticed that the phone screen flickers awfully when unlocked with a fingerprint? the screen can flash a moment after unlocking and artifacts are created in menu animations. everything takes literally half a second.
the problem only occurs on all Xiaomi.EU MIUI 12 beta versions and on the stable version. I didn't check the global version, but I think it will be the same.
it wouldn't bother me much if it didn't create terrible graphic artifacts sometimes.
Indian version doesnt have this problem
Same thing here on miui 12 betas. I was sacred that i damaged my phone in work.

Yep, Noticed this on Xiaomi.eu 12.0.3.0 Stable. The main thing I noticed when I installed the update.
The previous ones were smooth. The blurring is also not good on the latest, the blur goes away real quick when exiting notif bar making the transition look like you set animation to 0 on devs settings. But the exact opposite on the Control Panel. Closing it, you'll see the delay in the blur. Can see icons still blurred before it goes away. Too delayed that it is noticeable. Setting .5x on animation and transition fixes it but that awful unlocking animation flicker become more noticeable when doing so.
I hope next update will be better.

Same 12.0.3.0 build? Noticed the issue on 12.0.3.0. I believe indian Stable is still on 12.0.1.0. On that build we did't have the issue as well.
It is interesting that the problem only occurs when we use the fingerprint on the screen. using the fingerprint on the screen off, does not create artifacts and flickering. all beta versions had this problem, I thought stable version would eliminate this problem.
he does not always occur. and sometimes it is strong that it looks like a phone breaks down.
I wonder what is causing this error. maybe a fingerprint mechanic?

Did xioami add the DC dimming option for Mi9T in Miui 12? Can anyone tell?
@projjalkhisa You can activate it easily with Activity Launcher -> Settings (the second option) -> Anti-Flicker
On Global stabile MIUI 12 it's fixed. I have EEA model, and every miui 12 custom rom have this bug (xiaomi.eu) (beta relases from china model)

Hey guys, since i have update my phone to OS12, it went crazy. I couldn't unlock my phone, it remained in standby and nobody could call etcetc. So i rolledback to OS11 but it seems that the camera issue is still there. When i want to open the camera, a black screen is displayed and then the app crashes. Do you have any fixes for it? Im searching for a newer version of Oxygen OS 11.0.11.11.IN11DA but not OS 12, please.
