Hey everyone , bought my redmi note 7 a couple of days ago and the first huge difference i see when compared to my note 4 is that the battery drains so much faster in idle\standby , i've disabled all of battery consuming options i've found searching the web but the issue still persists , is it the new update , is my phone faulty?

If you are using stock MIUI, there are lots of hidden things consuming battery and quite several options you have to go through to disable the stuff.
You may try Greenify or Better Battery Stats and the likes to check for what's been running in background. You may have to root though.

Yeah , i'm using stock mui , my SOT is around 7-8 hours but the battery drains as fast when it's on standby\idle , i've disabled all i can and the problem still persists , i mean if i can't solve it without rooting i'd be awesome cause i don't want to lose the warranty on this brand new phone but if it comes to that i guess i'll have no choice , is this a bug or is it intended like this? Cause my note 4 didn't drain at all while idle.
Bumping this as it's getting really annoying that a brand new phone can't last a whole day on idle , should i just return the phone?

Is your phone entering deep sleep? You can check it in the battery stats.
What i can tell you is that overnight i only lose 1% or 2% max of battery in 8 hours .
This IS the services Google play fault. Wait for next update, should be fixed

got the same issue when i got mine, i noticed a very big difference when compared to my redmi s2. Well, installing a custom rom was a way to go for me (pixel experience and cd droid) were the once i used to be exact, both them run quite well. my SOT is about 7-12 hours depends on usage.

Version 18.3.82 introduced a bug that drains the battery. I don't believe .85 fixed.
You can revert back to 17.x or try the beta 19.0.56

That's weird because i did a factory reset yesterday for this exact same reason , gonna do another one and reply back tomorrow with no apps installed.
Edit: Just did a factory reset and the battery dropped 3% while first time startup was finishing up lol , something tells me that the phone is faulty at this point.

You're not really losing it, it's just that the battery reporting is poor so when you reboot it is probably "catching up" and showing you the real value.

Hes not rebooting or powering off the phone, from the graph it looks like he is just turning on the screen and taking it out of deepsleep/idle mode.
The screen is a HUGE battery hog and if you have high brightness you can destroy the battery quickly. What is your brightness set at OP?
Nexus 4 uses a lot of power to turn on, reboot. On top of that, battery display is not correctly informed. Should be fixed in the next update.

No pics, movies, music? Mine was obvious, it was the highest battery drain in the battery use monitor.
Maybe fully charge then shut it off, unplug, and turn it back on leave it set for 5-10 minutes and check on what is eating battery. I assume you've done this put you haven't mentioned any apps of android system or anything eating battery.

I also experimented similar strange battery behaviour last week;
I started a stress test with 35% of battery and stop it when level reached 10%. As battery level continued to drop (within 30 sec) to 7%, I checked running apps and closed everything, but after another 30sec (or 1 min) phone shut down after reaching 1%. So to summarise, I also experiment lost of 10% of battery within 1 or 2 minutes.
There's another thread from me here on the same subject. I think it's down to crap battery stats on the phone side. I placed a call with Google and they claim they've never heard of a large battery drop on boot before.
For note I charge my phone up every night when i get back home and power it off on 100% charge before going to bed. In the morning on starting up I get a battery reading of anything from 82-99%. Note tehre appears to be no difference if the phoen is left off for longer periods of time (i.e. for me weekends when i'm not getting up for work hours being a lazy sod)

Hi xda-devs!
Since some days my phone goes crazy, it crashes randomly during usage. It's battery usage is enormous and during 5 minutes of usage the battery of my Galaxy S4 (i9505) goes from 100 percent to 85. Sometimes it crashes just for fun, when I want to boot it up the battery sometimes is at ~10% which is not really nice
I'm not playing much games on it, normally just WhatsApp, Reddit, and things like that.
By the way: my phone is rooted so I've tried different ROM's, several Kernel's and Basebands.
My current Setup is:
GOLDENEYE v16.2 ROM (4.3 JB)Ausdim Kernel v4.3v11Baseband Version is I9505XXUEMJ7My Bootloader is not a Knox one.
I've tried the most stock looking ROM's that I've found, no difference. The Radio cannot be the problem? On other phones it runs perfectly.

In the Period after the crash the Screen wasn't on long time, hope that the screenshots are useful anyways, i think not that much
The usage of apps is not that high, even after some hours of usage (now only 11 minutes) but the screen usage is always really high.
So does anybody know how to fix this problem?

When checking the serial number i noticed that the battery is baggy, isn't normal, right? Or just the NFC Coil? :silly:

Hi! Can you share your personal experiences of battery life using android 6 on G4? With details like, SOT, network used and signal strenght, tweaks applied on phone, background running apps? And it improved over Lollipop?
Thanks!

I'm upgrade today to marshmallow so i will post my opinion in day or two. So far i'm hapy with upgrade.

Not sure Doze is working on my Marshmallow build.
I just switched from a Nexus 5 on 6.0 to this LG G4 and the Marshmallow ROMs don't hold a candle to the Nexus 5 in battery drain overnight.
Nexus 5 lost 1-2% overnight Dozing with a 2 year old tiny battery...the G4 lost 5-6% last night with a bigger brand new battery.
I suspect there's bugs to work out still.
I also switched from N5, 1 year and 9 month old, and had the initial feeling that the battery is not that great, but it was a placebo, N5 was super optimised, using Elementalx kernel, doze, Tasker, greenify vs G4 barely rooted and some bloatware removed. Actually G4 gives me 5 to 6h of SOT, while N5 was 3,5 to 5h. So if I look at the numbers G4 has the better battery life, even not being optimised for that.

Bad Battery
Hi all,
I am only able to get about 2.5h of dot within the day. I got my Mi5s month ago and the only thing that helped me, was playing a lot with amplify (4h Sot were possible then). But nearly all application which makes a device smart won´t work in background anymore.
I hoped that updating to nougat will fix. But today... I am at 1h42min dot and only 27% left after 10.5h of use. I only listen to amazon music (over 3G) for about 2 hours. Some surfing, some whatsapp and i use my samsung gear s2.
Greenify is running. I also freezed qfp with titanium backup.
I don´t know what to do. Some time ago I tested the device with only whatsapp running... Got same results.
I ordered a new Mi5s through gearbest. Will arrive in the next 2 weeks. I hope my device is a little broken.

Solid
Second day, almost 6hrs SoT and still 35% battery left.
Can we maybe also add what apps we're usually using (what apps use most of the battery)? This would be pretty interesting to know.
The sot's doesn't look really well. Or are you guys only played games? For a 4000mAh battery with Snapdragon 625 should be more possible.
Bit different, but I did an hour test of streaming youtube on WiFi (everything else closed, sync off, stamina off, etc) with medium brightness and medium audio through speaker.
It lost only 7%, so looking at 14 hours watching YouTube in this way
Pretty good I reckon.
In general use the couple of days I have had it the battery seems really good.
Edit... After a couple more days use my typical Screen On Time is approx 10 11 hours for general usage (mainly on WiFi)
