I see the FP Sensor on sunshine - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

I get my 9T today and i see on sunshine the fingerprint. in the room i dont see this. Is this normal?

Yeah, it is normal.
Basically in sunshine the glass is more transparent because of the bright light and that's why you can see trough it.

Ok thanks.

Adaptive brightness issues

Is anyone having trouble with the adaptive brightness. I have it turned on and the brightness of the screen is not change regardless whether i'm in a fully lite room or in a dark room. I have it turned on in settings under display. Is there more too it? am I missing something?

No screen protector.. however I believe this is user error. I just read up on the difference between auto-brightness and adaptive brightness (which is on 5.1.1 and later). My device as functioning as expected.
The adaptive brightness on my device seems really sensitive, it even changes when the image on my TV changes from dark to light in a darkish room.
Agreed; mine is annoyingly sensitive, if I can say that. Very distracting while driving at night with the GPS on. Every minute it goes between bright and dark. Didn't have this on Nexus 6.

Could you expand on this a little more?

Yes. It happened to me while driving at night also. I hope that it will be tweaked and will be less sensitive.

No part of the phone protector covers anything on the screen-side, but are there ambient light sensors on the back, next to the camera?
I've got the issue too. Has anyone seen a solution like a kernel, xposed module or something?

LG G6 light bleed?

Anyone else have this on the AOD? Not a huge deal, just curious. Sorry for the low quality photo...

I do! Only on AOD though. Any other black screen I have no bleed at all, but for some reason AOD likes to give off some.

That's odd. Does it look the same as mine?

Always On Display
Got the same bleeding on mine as well
Very common on LCD panel screen. My first two V20 got it, just different corner.

Don't have it there but I have it along the top side of the screen but it doesn't look that bad.
I believe that is just the nature of design. I've read elsewhere that light bleed is almost impossible to avoid 100% with IPS displays.

Mine doesn't have that but it does have a screen that isn't uniform. The bottom of the screen right above the navigation bar has a warm tint to it making it look sort of yellow compared to the rest of the screen. I'm returning it. I can't look at a screen that isn't uniform. The AOD looks fine though. If the replacement I get has the light bleed on the AOD I'll be returning it.
It's not a light bleed.
It's a special LED only lightning up, when AOD display is enabled.
When seen at 0 LUX your eyes will see it lightning up from bottom. This way the phone won't use the full backlight of the display to only light up at night. It's a side effect from not having AMOLED display.

I am not sure if this is from the lighting zones on HDR displays, or if LG implemented extra leds at the bottom of the display just for the AOD. Pretty nifty trick to get low light and power consumption on an IPS panel.
The light streak effect that looks like light bleed is due to light falloff as it moves from the bottom LED through the diffuser behind the LCD. So nothing wrong with your displays.
If you want to test light bleed; open a full screen black image in a very dark room. My screen lighting was perfectly even.
mine is exact the same. glad that im not the only one i was ready to send it back lol
Same thing here

Oh, here is why I notice that only with AoD :victory:
What excatly am i looking at ? Do we have what on AoD ? That brighter screen like that ? Yeah when the phone is under some sort of light ( sun, lamps during night ) when in total dark it dims... )
Powered by LG G6
Brothers G6 have exactly same problem. Just on AOD and on the bottom middle!

Nothing wrong with your phone, it's normal behavior for LCD displays. It's not AMOLED.

My G6 has it at the same place. I think it's the way AOD is implemented.

Is your Iris Scanner always blue?

Seems on the far right at the top of the phone, the Iris Scanner's blue light or whatever is always on. It's almost like a notification light that never turns off. Anyone else seeing this?

Makes sense as it's an IR camera, reflective coating to reject most visible light.

Thanks. It's the one thing about the phone I do not like. Its quite reflective and distracting while looking at the screen.
I must admit I didn't notice this last night when inside, however when I used it this morning in daylight it is pretty blue. Quite annoying really but I suppose I will get used to it
i have been having the same issue with the light blue light. its not the lens or reflection either. most of the time its on and hurts my eyes if i look at it to long. that or maybe its just big brother watching 24/7. haha

Screen defect alert. Check you phones!

I've got a weird bluish green glow just below my speaker grill.
NOTE: IT IS NOT MOTION SENSE
I've used motion sense and can understand why you think it's related, but it is not, I can assure you.
It seems like a manufacturer defect. It's there all the time. Even on the lock screen. It does not show up in screenshots and I did a factory reset to see if it would go away. It did not. I need to find others with this issue. Go in a dark room and look at the very top of your screen. You might see a discoloration that does not go away and even shows up with your ambient display.

Dude, I saw it too. That's a light line designed by Google. It's also an indicator when wave hand to switch track.
Yes, it is the motion gesture light for when music is playing, or when a call is incoming. One can always disable motion gesture if they find it bothersome.
Yeah. Like I said, it's not motion sense. It's there even when it's disbabled, on boot, on the lock screen. I have a replacement coming soon. Just watch out for it. I can't be the only one
Yep I've got it. It's like the top of the screen has some light leak that on grey makes the screen turn green.
Used a screen tester to confirm it. In the UI it looks almost intentional but it's pretty apparent.
Really very little light bleed on mine. I would't have noticed it if I haven't read this post.
Wow. that's annoying looking. No light bleed here. Sorry to see you're having issues :/
Totally get were you're coming from. I had a 4K TV with some light bleed and even worse clouding issues when watching HDR content. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

just got mine nothing like that either. All is good here loving it :good:
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.displaytester
Switch to 18% grey (18% for all 3 sliders) and lower brightness (swipe in between the bars up and down) to about 2-3%
I can see a slight green shadow on top... I thought it was intentional, but now I realize it's not.
Please report here what you finally do.
It's something I can clearly live with, it's very slight, and I can't see it in daylight, but obviously I don't want. Maybe I'll keep it some weeks and see how all this evolve before I place a RMA request.

Can i remove the light of the fingerprint?

I want to remove the light of the fingerprint. I was reading that burn the amoled screens in OnePlus and i hate that light.
How i can remove it.
I know u canĀ“t remove it with the rom, so i image that i need a mod.
Thanks.
You can't remove the light. The reason is that the in-display fingerprint scanner is an optical one. This means that behind the screen there is a very small camera that takes photos of your fingerprint. In order to do that it needs light, hence the illumination you see. You shouldn't worry about it. It lights only for a fraction of second which isn't enough to cause a burn in. Xiaomi's engineers have thought of that.
