I've a rooted KF with CM7 barebones and I've bought this device primarily for gaming, so I'm loving this ROM.
However, I do want to use other apps such as XDA forum app and browsing/reading apps. But some of these apps don't seem to be stable on CM. The irony especially is that the XDA app keeps crashing whenever I log in. So I can only browse the forum as a guest from my KF.
Now are there any gamers out there who are able to play games smoothly on a stock or stock rooted KF? I think especially games like Frontline Commando or Modern Combat 3 are heavy on the resources and if they play well on the Stock KF, then I should be happy with it.
Any inputs? Are there ones that really prefer the Stock ROM over CM7 for reasons other than stability - for reasons such as performance for instance?
Also, if I have a rooted stock KF and the anroid market, then are all the apps/games on the Market visible and installable? I am asking this since the CM7 spoofs Galaxy Tab to ensure compatibility.
I use MIUI 2.1.20 to play NOVA, Modern Combat, Shadow Gun, etc... I haven't found a single app that doesn't work (I've been using it for 6 days). Hope that helped! Feel free to send me a message if you wanna know more.
I'm running rooted stock and am able to play shadowgun without a hitch.

Have you tried GTA3 and Sonic CD?
well... xda isnt stable on stock either. on rooted, without modifying build.prop, it wont show 75% of the games you mentioned. cm7 is definetly a better option.

I've tried GTA III but not sonic CD
Just to throw in my two cents... while I do like the customizations that are possible with CM7 and ICS I find that modified stock is more stable and, for my usage, better battery life.
You should try a Xbox 360 or a PS3 for actual gaming. Just saying...

Because the PS3 and Xbox fit great in your coat pocket for on-the-go.... (rolls eyes).
I've had pretty good luck with the MoDaCo rom. You get the advantages/stability of stock with everything under the hood modded, including the build.prop, market access, etc. It's ran everything I've thrown at it so far.
Thanks all for your inputs. I went to MoDaCo from CM7-Barebones as I wanted to try the stock feel. The stock Kindle is way way better for reading thanks to the various font size and typography features.
Even the games ran quite well on the MoDaCo and I was quite happy all these days as everything was working without a glitch.
However, when I wanted to play some gameloft games - I have purchased Modern Combat and Nova series, then poof... they don't appear on the market. I even changed the build.prop but no go. MoDaCo says they have the tweak that will show the Fire as Galaxy Tab on the market for more compatibility but even that didn't work.
So today I am back to CM7 and glad to see that the apps I want show up on market. Need to play around and see how this goes. Sad that I will be missing out on the reader experience though.
I am running CM7 with ravens kernel and play many of the same games you mentioned without issue. I had to download the modified build.prop but have not had any issues. Battery life is excellent and since ravens kernel overclocks performance is good.
try modaco custom rom with ravens kernel. It handled all the games I've thrown at it. I get like 2400-2500 quadrant scores from ravens kernel compared to 2000 stock kernel. So if you want the fastest stock experience I say go for that.

I'm on GR6 but think I'm using a stock kernel. Do you have a link to Raven's Kernel and some install instructions?
Also, what launcher do you use with MoDaCo ROM as I can't get ADW to run (immediately FCs).
Here's the link to the kernel.

I'm using the stock launcher but ive used go launcher and adw ex without any issues .

I'm having issues flashing the kernel. What's steps do I need to go through to flash it. I keep getting the error that it can't locate the file or mount the system.

so i am currently running cm7... and around a month ago... i tried cm9 sneekpeak 2... it did not seem stable enough for me so i went back to cm7... i haven't flashed in a while and i was wondering which of the cm9 nightlys is the most stable at this point and what are the changes made from the sneekpeek 2.... thanks in advance
CM9 is much better now. There is too much to list but you should give it another try. There are two versions, with openGL and without. With allows you to run flash and video that doesn't work on without but the without version is a little more stable and snappy.
Biggest missing item in either build is the ability to run Netflix. If that is important you might want to stick with CM7 a little longer.

kk... flashing the most current nightly as we speak... but what is so special about integrating Netflix??? doesn't it work like all other apps???
CM9 on NC has improved drastically since those fullofbugs builds FatTire did. Video is still hit and miss because of the lack of hardware acceleration. I know MX Player can process vids through S/W, but don't expect HD.
I recommend you to downgrade CM7 or dual cm7+cm9. Is because cm9 is incomplete/beta and your probably new. You might also want to watch video...so on. CM7 should would be better. But CM9 does not the newer look and faster response. Use the search function in NC forum to find more comparison. There plenty.
I am running cm7 due to hd/video playback and other apps. cm7 is a tad more stable.
I am using the latest non-opengl nightly and the speed and performance equals my previous cm7.2 install.
Thanks
Thank you for all the responses... as of now... i am running the cm9 nightly from two days ago.... my nook does do random restarts and crashes here and there but i am more of a see what this thing can do type of person... i don't play games much and i rarely play videos... i use the browser alot... i just like to play around with different tweaks i find online though i am not a developer (im trying to learn to code [python] at home and then next year i will be working on java in school [im 15]... anyways thanks for all the responses and i am sticking to cm9....
Hi guys! As the title says, considering at first gaming performance obviously! That's the main feature of this device, some ROM that you experienced that doesn't generate any lag on any game!
And considering secondly the overall performance of the device, the smoothness and the speed of it, as well as the load times in games.
All in all, just considering performance. Thank you for response.

sorry for late reply my xperia play was out of commision for awhile got its screen fixed and looking into roms, currently using xElite gamer final addition.
I think best is Gin2KitKat - every game works fine, there is PSX support, it looks great.
Only - is that it's old firmware - 2.3.4.

Yeah thank you, I already knew that Gin2Kitkat 3.3.0 is the best out there. (It's 2.3.7 though).
Its 2.3.4 based with 2.3.7 backports.
However if You want newer Android version and Rom with good performance, I would recommend You SlimBean as it's the only Rom on which I was able to play Ravensword and even finish it (on other Roms there was a lot of crashes when playing) with not to much lag (ofc no gamepad or touchpas support in game).

Hey all,
I was wondering which chrome build runs the best on our beloved nexus 6p's: stable or beta? Which one gives you the best performance and uses the least battery juice?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!
I use chrome canary. It really is hard to tell a difference between all the chrome versions. If tuga browser would work consistently on more roms id use it. It was really fast.

I use beta. It seemed to use less battery when I installed it but that was a while ago.
I freeze Chrome and use Dolphin! Problem solved
I used to use Dolphin but after a while I just found too many problems. It didn't render some web pages correctly. It wouldn't open some websites at all even though they worked on another browser. It also had a tendency to freeze and crash.
Yeah I've used others, but after a while I kept going back to chrome..
Thanks for your experiences!
Hey, I am using a xiaomi mi 9t since January. Now for a week I am experiencing lags in performance from time to time. It started on 11.0.4.0 and continued in 11.0.5.0. Scrolling through the home screen, menu, chrome browser, WhatsApp etc are lagging. I also didn't install any new app which might cause the lags. I tried to capture this with my laptop camera which is pretty low fps but you can still see it.
Lagging https://youtu.be/lpIbPObkYYQ
Smooth https://youtu.be/zNJMZ078H2U
Can anybody help me please to find the problem and fix it?
I do encounter the same issue even though I'm on a mi 9 Lite.
I'm on MIUI Global 11.0.1 Stable with Android 10.
I guess there is a process in the background that takes too many resources and makes animation lags.
No fix found yet

You have to unistal APP VAULT, from play store. Search on playstore for the app and unistall update and unistall the app.
11.0 5.0 is a mess. I noticed occasional transition lag as well and slightly reduced battery time perhaps. Hope we get next update soon. 11.0.3.0 was amazing, everything worked perfectly, I regret downloading the update.
Somehow I can't uninstall or deactivate the app itself, how did you guys do that?

Hi, I also have Mi 9T with these performance problems. I noticed your message about miui 11.0.3.0. Looked up for it, it is first miui 11, base on android 9. Later ones are based on android 10. As i can see, android 10, also 11 are not very optimised by Xiaomi for this device. Is it possible to roll back to 11.0.3.0? For me its not important which android version is on my phone just want everything to work as it should. Actually everything is working just this performance drops and lagging (guess fps also drops). I got this device with Miui 11.0.4.0 and updated to 11.0.5.0 but im not happy with performance. LAter versions of miui are also laggy and bad for battery.
Miui is s#!tty, try custom ROMs
