How to tell the global version 9T from the Chinese one K20? - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hello everyone
So I bought the 9T Global from Aliexpress and in the pictures on the website the phone comes with a protective cover that says 9T on the front. But when I got mine the protective cover on the phone was clear on the front and has some writings on the back but doesn't say the version. I read that the main tell regarding the version is what it says on the back of the phone whether it says K20 or Mi 9T but there is a white sticker on the back (underneath the protective clear cover) with some info and it says on it to be left alone basically.
Is there any other way to tell if this is the Chinese version with global rom or the global version?
Thanks in advance

If you look at the pictures of the phones, the k20 has redmi on the back the mi 9t has a mi logo on the back.

The phone is a gift. I dont want to tare the back sticker (which covering the back logo) off

If anyone know something about screen replace in europe, or the exact type/model no. of the screen , i ll apprecciate any help about it.
Thank you very much!

Sorry to hear that... :/
what says ebay ?
Oppo europe says a new screen costs 170€..
Back cover is also getting replaced.
Keep in mind your phone gets repaired in China and its not available for over 20-30 days..
I also have a little scratch from falling in the top right corner but i can deal with it cause its invisible with my case

Black variant with defect on the painting

Hello Mi A1 users.
Today I'm complaining about something that's happening to Mi A1. The back of the device (black variant) have some "holes" where it seems there's no painting. I only have this phone for one month and I always used it with cover.

if u use a hard cover, it may actually be the culprit. What happens is the inner surface of the cover rubs the phone body, removing the paint/coating on it. Unfortunately, not using a cover means damage to the internals on every fall. i use soft covers, they are good for absorbing shocks while being less harsh on the phone body. The look is compromised but then its the deal.....

It happens when sands get stuck under your cover and it wears out the color finish of the aluminum. This is very common if you use a case and don't clean regularly. Those who don't use a case never face this situation but they risk the physical health of the device.

Smart sleep/wake flip case/rom?

Hi! I had a Redmi Note 3 and currently i am using a Xiaomi Mi 6 with Lineage OS. I use my Mi 6 in combination with a Nillkin Qin flip case for the "Smart Sleep"-function (close the cover for enter the sleep state and vice versa, working with stock and custom rom). It works perfectly and is in my opinion it is super practically. For my mother, I bought a Redmi Note 7 with the same Nillkin Qin and a Sparkle Case for backup. Unfortunately, neither MIUI nor Pixel Experience support this feature. It should work, according to Nillkin/AliExpress.
Does anyone know a suitable case, a custom rom or a trick to make it work? Thanks in advance!
Is it possible that the case has the magnet in the wrong place, so it doesn't trigger the sleep when closing it? Or even better, maybe it has no magnet?
thanks for your answer! hmm, ok maybe this case does not work like my other xiaomi.
does someone use smart sleep with another flip case model? or is it not possible at all?

I don't know what's smart sleep but if you want to switch on/off the screen with the flip cover you can use an app like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jarsilio.android.waveup
thank you, but I don't think my mother likes to wave around with her hand!
example for smart sleep with a flip case: https://youtu.be/hfr2CPJUvu4?t=135

With waveup you can do exactly that. When the proximity sensor is covered the display turn off and when is uncovered goes back on. You can do that in settings
nice one! i will try it!
Redmi Note 7, along with many new models, including Note 8, does not seem to support this function, there is no option in its menus like on other models.
I had been using smart cover mode from redmi note 3 onwards that phone gets locked when flip cover closed and wakes up when flip cover opened.
No I bought redmi note 8 pro and my dismay found out that xiaomi discontinued this best feature. Now I have to manually wake up and lock the phone and I get irritated because I was passioned with smart cover mode.
Xiaomi, Xiaomi Please listen the customers request that bring back "Smart Cover Mode" in the next security updation since it was a security feature you taught your customers from long back. Thanks.

Is the USB port ridiculously sharp on this phone?

I just got the Mi 9T a few days back and I can't help but notice how sharp the outside edges of the USB Type C port are. The way I hold this phone one handed and frankly the only way I can do it is with my pinky finger resting on the port. But it's becoming an increasingly uncomfortable thing to do because of how harsh the port is. I am not using any case.
Is this just my phone or its just the way its designed? And is this going to get any better with time?

same with me, maybe a plastic plug would be welcome?

You mean I should give my phone in warranty?
Sent from my Mi 9T using Tapatalk
yes, my job is metal working and there isno way for it to be sharp - its just dangerous, so use warranty to replace or if you have skills use file to make it better
Can anyone else please comment?
I use this case => https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SRK7JZ3
No problem! ^^
On mine, it's not sharp at all
Okay I am gonna go to the Mi store and see if the demo unit has this or not. I hope they do have a demo unit as I don't know anyone who has this phone.
