I believe it is impossible to downgrade to an older bootloader (BL). Since you're on BL version 5 (the minimum required for the Android Pie ROMs), there's probably not a path to get back to Oreo (the latest ROM used BL version 4).

Galaxy S8 950U downgrade from oreo 8.0 to nougat 7.0

I would like to downgrade my galaxy s8 (G950U) sprint version from Oreo 8.0 back to Nougat 7.0 but I’ve been having a hard time figuring out if it’s possible.
Looking around I’ve seen people saying that’s it’s not possible due to the bootloader which doesn’t allow you to go down from v2 back to v1.
It’s also my understanding that the fifth number from the right is the bootloader version, in this case I have version two (G950USQU2CRC5). Now, looking at the Nougat releases for the phone, the last three that were released before Oreo show that they have the version two bootloader (G950USQS2BRB1, G950USQS2BQL1, G950USQU2BQK5).
So, would it be possible to downgrade if I used one of these three versions or are there other things preventing this that don’t involve the bootloader?
Thanks.
Yes. As long as the bootloader version of the package and the bootloader version on your phone are the same, you're fine.
Also, don't flash a bootloader 3 package unless you want to completely ditch Nougat or don't want root for a long time.

T-Mobile just Released Android 8 Oreo Update For S7/S7 Edge

According to GSM Arena, T-Mobile just released official android 8 for s7/s7 edge! Finally. Now which firmware should I be on because I have an unlocked phone and I want to flash TMobile firmware since I have TMobile sim card.
https://www.gsmarena.com/tmobile_starts_rolling_out_samsung_galaxy_s7_oreo_update-news-31959.php
I'm pretty sure I can just use SamFirm to flash the official firmware since SamFirm has all the official firmware for samsung phones. I will check to see if SamFirm has updated to Android 8 on the Tmobile s7/s7 edge.
Update: Yup, SamFirm has the official version for Download if you aren't getting the OTA update. (see attachment below)
Can confirm. Just completed the OTA update.

How is it running for you?
Smooth install. no freezes or crashes as of today. I did do a shutdown right after install. Rebooted just fine. I plan on doing cache wipe after a day or two.
overall responsiveness seems no worse than 7.
Running smooth after factory reset, but the secure folder icon doesn't change with icon packs. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed any bugs like this.
I upgraded to this build and I don't like it. Can I odin back to 7.0 and be ok?

Oreo isn't rooted period because of the locked bootloader on the us variants. If you have an atnt phone and an atnt sim, why not just flash the official atnt Oreo. Or the official atnt nougat bra1 and then just use the ota updates to get to official atnt oreo

I have an unlocked s7. We can use any carriers firmware. If you want the atnt firmware, you can go to the atnt s7 forums and they have the nougat and the Oreo firmware. They have the stock atnt Oreo firmware that you should be able to flash directly. If that doesn't work, you can flash atnt nougat bra1 and then just continuously ota until the Oreo update comes up, I think atnt is currently on Oreo CRE4 if they haven't had an update. Also, if your phone is unlocked and you've had the 930U firmware before, I'm actually gonna switch over to the unlocked Oreo once it is officially released since the U firmware doesn't have all the carrier bloat. Right now the U firmware is only on BRD1 nougat I believe.
If you want tmobiles Oreo, just flash the files I provided. If it doesn't work then revert back to atnt nougat bra1 or unlocked bra1 and then you can flash this TMobile Oreo

Oreo is worth it and it's stable. It's been out for a while, it's just now hitting older devices. Currently Android P is the newest Android. Which is Android 9

About to attempt to downgrade Oreo 8.0 ROM to Nougat 7.0

Hi all,
First time poster, long time lurker.
I have recently purchased the galaxy s8 the other day, I was expecting for it to come with the Android default version 7.0 Nougat, however, it came with Oreo 8.0.
The baseband version of the phone is G950FXXU4CRI1, and the fifth last character indicates it is running Bootloader 4.
I heard it is impossible downgrade since the current available 7.0 Nougat roms from SamMobile are Bootloader 1.
I would like to clarify is that true?
If so, what happens If I force the downgrade with a different Baseband version?
If I am unable, are there any alternative ways to downgrade to 7.0 using an official samsung rom?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
you are meddling in things that will error out in odin and or lose your IMEI.
anti rollback stops you from doing this fused binary device such and such version

Is there a way to root a Sprint Galaxy S7 on (U) firmware? Using latest Oreo & V8 BL?

Is there a way to root a Sprint Galaxy S7 on (U) firmware? Using latest Oreo & V8 BL?
Since I cannot do anything to this piece of s*** phone I got, Is there anyway to root it to get more of it or even try to fix that battery drain?
I'm on the latest Oreo (U) firmware with October security update and latest V8 bootloader.

Please i wanna know if its possible, wich i presume it is, and what version of Odin should i use ? I do have downloaded 5 files official rom wich i already flashed last year from Oreo to Nougat, but i have problem flashing it from PIE to Nougat. What version of Odin do i need and what setting?

You can not downgrade bootloader versions. So if your on pie with version 4 bootloader the lowest you can go is the earliest version of Oreo with bootloader version 4. Anything with 3,2 or 1 bootloader can't be flashed.
My god. So there is no Odin way or any other way to bypass bootloader restriction?

As far as I know no you can't downgrade bootloader versions.
Thanks for the reply. I just flashed the earliest Oreo firmware with bootloader binary 4 wich is actually last big change in stable releases of Oreo. NExt 3 releases were only security updates. I cant get lower then that since two more Oreo firmwares before that had BL number 3 and 2 - Nougat starts with 1 unfortunately. I really hoped maybe guys on XDa figured this thing out too downgrade to lower BL numbers, but i guess its not possible. .If i knew that before, i would never upgrade this shi..t to PIe. Hopefully Oreo will do fine now.
