Hello!
I have successfully installed nightly for i9505 (jfltexx).
Checking the phone settings I can see that this Baseband-Version is installed:
I9505XXUBMGA
I checked for other modem files in order to adapt to my local 3G service provider (Vodafone DE) and found this file I9505XXUHOF2_I9505VFRHOF3_VD2.
Question:
Is it recommended to replace modem file (=Baseband-Version)?
If yes, how do I have to proceed?
If no, why not?
I have already tried to flash "I9505XXUHOF2_I9505VFRHOF3_VD2.rar" using Odin 3.10, but then I ended up in bootloop with Samsung FW.

You are not in the right place. You need to move to general section.
@Yousvel: He's in Q&A, which is the correct place. General is for tutorials and similar stuff, not questions.
@c.monty: Changing the baseband to an Android 5.x version may help improve signal over a 4.x baseband. Other than that, changing the baseband won't "adjust" the phone to be more compatible with the carrier, so don't bother.

Ok my friend. When I wrote this it was in development section. Mod moved it .
Gotcha. Should have realized that.
I changed to a carrier specific modem (also Vodafone) and it didn't do crap. Same data speed, same signal strength, same everything.
Even if there were any changes, they are very small and unnoticeable.
You don't flash it as .rar. The modem files should have .tar extension. And you put it in CP field if I'm not mistaken
If you do want to flash a modem then check out the thread in the general section. Or search for the latest S4 lollipop baseband and download it.
OK.
My first attempt to flash another modem file failed.
I did some further investigation and found a firmware including a modem file fitting to my carrier and country: I9505XXUFNC4_I9505XEGFNC2_XEG
According to this instruction guide I unzipped the file and then extracted file "modem.bin" from this file I9505XXUFNC4_I9505XEGFNC2_I9505XXUFNC4_HOME.tar.md5
After this a installed modem.bin with Odin 3.09 and this succeeded w/o error.
However, when I reboot the phone and check the settings, I get this:
Baseband-Version I9505XXUBMGA
This indicates to me that the modem.bin from I9505XXUFNC4 was not flashed.
So, what went wrong?

Flash it again.
Flashing again fixed it.
Hey guys,
I installed xtrestolite on my G900F and changed the bootloader and modem of my device before installing it. First problem i had was with CSC. It is a single CSC and i couldn't install my countries CSC on it. That's why i went back to stock. I installed Kit Kat firmware that i downloaded from sammobile and then changed CSC to my countries CSC. Then i updated firmware to lollipop using Kies3. But installing stock rom didn't change bootloader version or modem version. Now i have kitkat bootloader version, kitkat baseband version and lollipop firmware version all different and i want to them all to be the same(latest lollipop). Is there any way to do this without downloading stock rom from sammobile again ? And if not, then can i just put the tar.md5 file that i will download from sammobile in bootloader, pda and CP at the same time and install with odin ?
Thanks in advance !
You do not need to re-download or re-install your ROM. You need to download your bootloader and radio from somewhere, then flash those with ODIN.
Just an FYI, the modem doesn't always like to stick so you may need to flash (auto-reboot disabled), pull the battery after odin says "success", then flash again immediately.

Hey thanks for the tip ! I just downloaded stock firmware but i don't know how to extract bootloader and modem from tar.md5 file and then make them odin flashable. I uploaded image with all the files that are in my tar.md5 file. What of these are for bootloader and what for modem and how do i make them odin flashable later ?
Thanks in advance
Can somebody tell me what's the latest baseband and how to flash it pls?
I flash roms all the time but some of the TW based roms don't give me any mobile network and they usual require a certain baseband. My current one is
I337MVLSGQB1
If the baseband isn't in the https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att section as a flashable zip using TWRP, you'll have to download the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com and flash the baseband extracted from the ROM zip using Odin. That will guarantee the latest baseband gets put on your device.
Thanks for your reply
But won't that just flash the entire firmware causing me to have to unlock and flash recovery and root all over again?
If your phone is unlocked from its carrier, it stays unlocked even if you change ROMs. Also, I misstated what you had to do to get to the appropriate files. After downloading the large file from sammobile, extract it using WinRAR or 7-Zip. You should end up with a .tar.md5 file. Rename that file to .tar, and extract the files within. The two you want are modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin. Those two are then flashed using Odin.
Of course, you could do the adventurous thing and download one of the existing flashable modem zips, then replace the existing modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin in the flashable zip with the versions from the stock ROM package.
Forum for the sgh-i337m is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att
Oh I downloaded the Bell one and saw the modem.bin but didn't know which other one was needed so thanks
Rogers, Telus, and Bell use the same stock ROM with a bit of customization on the sgh-i337m; therefore, you can cross-flash the modem, bootloader, and system as they are the same.
Oh cool. You've been a great help, thanks for the info
So i updated to QB1 but not getting any cell service when i flash certain i9505 roms like Super Touchwiz v6, Machinex or something like that, Imperium v18.1. Some require QG1.
Would QG1 or any other baseband/bootloader/modem be able to work on my Rogers i337M?
I know this phone usually can flash any rom that is for the i9505 so just wondering if it's able to go that far as to use those as well
I would not cross-flash bootloaders or modems as invalid modem/bootloader combinations may hard brick the phone.
You may need to flash a different kernel when using custom ROMs desgined for the i9505.
Okay
So I have a used S8 G950U ver that I got from a friend of mine, it is unlocked and as far as I know its not locked to any carrier because I am using it in Pakistan.
I will attach the about phone screen in the attachments as well, you can see the version.
I went into Download Mode and the carrier there says TMB but if I search the baseband version (G950USQS5CRF5) on the google, it says its Verizon, so I am confused that which carrier version is my phone exactly. Some sites say that its an unlocked Hong Kong version
I downloaded the T Mobile One UI update from SamMobile, its a zip file.
Can I flash that zip file from recovery through SD card and will it brick or not?
Or should I flash it through ODIN.
Either way, does the carrier matters when updating or not, or does the model have to be the same?
Sorry if its a weird question, I have been kind of indecisive about it for couple of weeks thinking I take the shot and see if it works but decided to ask here beforehand.
First off Odin only flashes tar files and you can't flash zips in recovery only in custom recoveries such as twrp can zips be flashed

But if I have the official OTA zip, can I flash that?
Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to flash stock firmware for the s6 tab lite without a computer? I don't have access to mine at the moment, and my tablet currently has lineageOS with root and twrp on it. The firmware that I downloaded seems to only be compatible with Odin, any insight would be greatly appreciated!
With TWRP you can only flash a Customrom.
Have you create a Backup oft the Stockrom before you flashed the Customrom ?
If yes , so you can restore this.

According to Magendaz, one can flash kernel, firmware, and custom ROM with TWRP.
I realize I didn't read the thread correctly, I apologize. My post is for using odin
-------
I wanted to root the device, but changed my mind after learning you can't be in stock firmware and have twrp/root at the same time (please correct me on this since I was having trouble trying to root my device via TWRP since I was stuck on recovery when trying to boot into system with bootloader and OEM Unlocking enabled; I assume I bricked the tablet somehow).
If you haven't created a backup like I did, you have to use ODIN to flash to the stock firmware. Here's how I got it done:
Download the firmware via: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-P610/XAR/P610XXU2BTK2 or whichever website has the stock firmware
Look into the region code (CSC) your device has. XAR is the firmware region for the United States. I wasn't able to tell which region code I had since I correctly guessed
Insert the first 3 files to ODIN (AP, BL, CSC) and Start

I was a bit worried that there is no CL file at first but I assume that's only for LTE (

)
Hope this helps

I am unable to connect the device to odin, and ideas of what I could be missing?
EDIT: I wasn't in the correct mode.
