Hello there,
Is the s10+ capable of sending/receiving mms without enabling manually data each time. I come from a huawei p20 pro and it does it perfectly. Is there a way to activate this function or is it OneUi limitation?
Regards
Not sure how you would get them without some type of data connection?

I mean if there is a way to send mms automatically without having to enable the data connection manually each time and toggle it off after sending? P20 pro does it so i'm just disapointed s10+ cant do it.

Hi there
in the wireless controls the data connection (set up datta connection) seetings always stays on. When i manually turn this off i have no problems recieving and sending MMS but this only lasts for a minute and then i cant send mms or receive, i then check the wireless controls again and notice the data connection set up tab has been switched back on!!!!!!....... i have to keep going back and forth to turn this off each time i rec or send mms??
I am on T-mobile UK with an unlimited data plan
The data connection is whst is used to go on the net... MMS uses a separate connection, and AFAIK both can't be active at the same time.
So yes, that's what you need to do. When you turn data connection off it will turn on by itself again as soon as any program wants to access the net, be it auto weather/facebook/twitter/mail updates or something you check yourself.
Interesting, I've rarely seen people using MMS regularly... you seem to be a rare species
ok mmmmmm so how is this going to make things simple for me to be able to send mms as i though the hd2 was all about communication....lol......so what u are saying is that i need to go back and turn the data connection setting thing off everytime i wanna send or rec mms!!!!
I have a HD2 on the AT&T network without a data plan but have unlimited messaging plan so it allows me to use the AT&T network free for messaging. I have my wireless data turned off through the settings so that it does not connect to the network.
I was wondering if there is some way to have the data turned off all the time but automatically turned on when trying to send/receive MMS messages? Is there an app or widget or specific settings that I could use?
I'm using mdeejay Froyo HD 3.7 ROM with hastarin 7.7 kernel.
I have t mobile but usually have data off...when I get a mms, it'll have the download option...i then turn on data, retrieve the mms, disable data...that's how it work on my bangster...good luck

Yeah this is what I do too but I was wondering if there is a way to automate the process so you don't have to manually turn it on/off.
I have T-mobile but the way I do it is go to Wireless & Networks, scroll down and where it says something about Mobile Networks connect to internet, Un-check that, that disables your phone from using cellphone data to access internet where wi-fi is not available or when an accident happens

Yeah but this also blocks MMS..I want to keep MMS.
If you data is turned off you wobt be able to send ir receive mms. Mms are sent through data.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk

No,you can't.
Your cellular connection (3G/2G/GPRS) is used for the data connection.
Try blocking all calls/sms using apps
guess if your always going to be in widi area u can turn off data connection and just have wifi on
Please bear with me. This is not new about the data usage.
The data traffic generated from my SGS 2 is costing me a lot that I had to disable the Data Network Mode. I simply need to use packet data to send and receive MMS and sometime for Assisted GPS.
How can I control packet data (3G/3.5G) data traffic?
And
How can I restrict it to certain usage (e.g MMS and AGPS)?
Thanks for your help.
You can try droidwall you can set each app to use either wifi or 3g only, or both.

go to the andoid market and install traffic counter extended... the best for me
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.carl.trafficcounter&feature=search_result
Just turn mobile data off and only turn it on when required .
jje
I use a widget called dataEnabler from market. works great for me
Guys... thanks for all your replies.
I guess I found a solution and I would like to share it with you.
Simply I installed SmartAPN and that solved the problem for me.
I switched Data Network Mode on and I disabled Data and enabled MMS.
I think I'm losing my mind. I could have swore MMS over WIFI was possible before I rooted via the GEOHOT method, but it seems since I did the deed, I am unable to send MMS through the default Messages or Google Hangouts without disconnecting from Wifi hopping on 4G then going back. I double and triple checked I still have mobile data on while connected to my home wifi, so I'm not sure where the issue lies.
Apologies if this is a known issue but a quick thread search yielded no results of similar issue so I figured I'd ask, is this something that can be corrected or is it just due to the setup of the phone and VZW network?
Thanks all!

MMS (multimedia messages with pictures, etc..) uses data to transmit the message. It's normal for an MMS message to use cellular data service even when connected to wifi, since your home or work wifi doesn't have communication with Verizon's cell network.
SMS (simple texts with no attachments, just text) does not use data and would not need to hop over to 4G.
mms over wifi
i just tried, and sent a mms to my email thru wifi but i'm not using the stock messaging app, i have my default set to handcent and it works a bit differently. Additionally my wifi allows me to use 4g while still connected to wifi. I'm running both alliancerom and slymhyde.. i can do it on both through handcent i hopped back and forth with safestrap.

I'm familiar with the data connection handoff when send SMS vs MMS, but thanks for clarifying I just assumed the device would switch from Wifi to 4G or cellular data to send the MMS vs just not sending it at all unless the WiFi was disconnected. I might just have to try 3rd party apps I suppose and see where that takes me. I just liked how Hangouts integrated with my other Google services.
Thanks for the info!
