Samsung Galaxy S10 + definitely the best smartphone I've ever had - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Good friends, I was doubtful between waiting for the launch in Spain of the Samsung Galaxy Fold or buying a Samsung Galaxy S10 plus. The galaxy fold had problems apparently with its screen, I was seeing 1 month ago and some more all the reviews of great Spanish and American YouTube, the mobile itself seemed impressive, the power to have a normal size mobile and a kind of tablet small when you open it is a very futuristic concept. Given that you do not know the actual launch date and that several major American stores like bestbuy have canceled the fold orders I backed out. 3 days ago I went to a mobile phone retailer here in Madrid, my city and I bought the latest Samsung Galaxy S10 plus 1 Tera ceramic version that was left in stock. Honestly, this is the ultimate mobile, at least for me. The best screen in a phone, the best video recording along with the iphone xs and xs Max, good cameras that are only surpassed by the pixel 3 and 3 XL, pc mode, possibility of using linux and displayport output by USB c, materials super premium and anti scratch ceramic, 12 gigs of ram, 1 terabyte of internal memory and possibility of adding microsd, the only mobile that has wifi 6, long battery life, super high screen brightness ... and could continue .. After having almost all the high range I can say that this is "THE MOBILE". The next note 10 will be impressive as well, the galaxy fold a futuristic mobile with a folding screen but really with my new s10 + I have never been so happy with a phone.

Note 3 Review + Samsung it self

Note3 after 4 weeks usage ( I have in collection S4, S3 , S2 , Tab8 )
On the paper specification is really pleasant 3gb ram fats CPU and USB 3 and etc…
But these 3 GB of ram ? really do you need this 3gb. Fast CPU but, does the apk is optimized for this CPU – GPU NO some apk works ok some not Some games loading fast some NOT and ….it is always waiting for updates to fix this
Samsung phones start remember Windows operating system Updates and updates and new Phone after 6-8 month
Anyway it is not the phone hardware fault but mixing samsung apk + bloatware apk with android become tragic Samsung have they apk store + knox for the point security for ???? Samsung : store , link, hub, sync , S voice and other 50 applications and plus on this top you have android applications
My review point :
I have looked to Apple side but the price for devices always take me back to Samsung I’m talking 2010 -2012
My First samsung products S2 , S3 was something really good new design and compare to iphone 4 , 3gs at this time offers lots for the money + the price was half price as the iphone
NOW NOTE 3 I have accident and the front glass smashed
To replace on Note 3 Screen Samsung Service center want 180 Pounds ebay 130-160 For the screen assembly + you do not know are they not refurbs
Iphone 5s screen on ebay for 40 Pounds Ipad Retina Mini the screen + glass lens for 55 Pounds on ebay
Iphone / Ipad will be my next device and I think I will move completely from Samsung
From 2013 to now Samsung Increased devices the prices + bloatware
Galaxy S4 when released cost same as Iphone 5 But the quality for build 2 times less then Iphone
Software Optimisation IOS on Iphone Do you need more to say more ….
My 3 year old Ipad 2 have still full day battery life all games working fluent all apps working ???
Ipad 2 have 512 mb of ram and dual core CPU ? but runs ok fine
Note 3 with 3 GB ram must be killer for my old Ipad 2 but ……… I have run simple game Angry Bird go and Note 3 Was more lag than Ipad ??? Same with other games
Forgot to mention battery life Note3 :
Sometimes when I do some intensive stuff like playing with pictures editing , games . video , the battery indication drops 1 percent per 1/2 minutes on Ipad 2 I can play all day and still have battery left
The next Year I will be replacing Note 3 to Ipad mini Retina 4g + cheap android phone now Im stuck with Samsung but not for long …………..
Samsung:
1 To expensive to buy same price as Iphone but the quality 2 time less
2 bloatware by default tray to remove losing warranty WOW
3 battery life ........
4 Performance Ipad Retina mini will outperform any Samsung device by graphic by CPU ....
5 Quality of the device Samsung all plastic
6 Parts to replace samsung will be 2 times more expensive that Iphone
7 Samsung phones do not keep the price at all you pay same money as Iphone but when you need to sell you will get nothing If you want to sell Iphone you always find good price money for the used one so paying high price from the begging latter can sell as well high price

I m from Collection of Galaxy Nexus - Galaxy S2 - S3 - Note 10.1 2013 - S4 - Note 3 on Samsung Smartphones
*** Nothing better than this >> that u can modify you phone.
even kernel, rom and install lots of batch ro boost up performance
It s Android >> OPEN SOURCE
-- -- -- -- --
what we have on iOS?
no rom! EVEN no Launcher
what is kernel you don't know.
--
you need more battery on galaxy device u can replace it by another one what if u need more battery on iPhone? just some cases.
-- -- -- --
true high-end smartphones are Galaxy devices then other manufacture like Sony, LG and etc
:good:
It is not about trolling Samsung this and this I have the device for me no point to do this I just tired from Samsung and want to share my experence in the last 3-4 years of using Samsung devices
It is about real life situation what I have now
I have looked another Samsung device tab pro 8.4 What Samsung done again put up dpi resolution and put 801 CPU GPU and on the internet if search can find that the GPU is not design for such high resolutions so the people from the first day getting poor performance Im not talking about home screen performance but gaming browsing etc
So the price I in Tesco 279 Pounds WOW it is looking amazing price so good But now do comparison to ipad mini retina amazon uk 272 Pounds
and any people in this forum can say that the Samsung pro 8.4 better that Ipad retina ? Please want to see your arguments
For gaming performance for battery performance for updates and etc
Today I have updates for Note 3 to UENC2 Firmware 2 Gb to download it is not a problem But I have spend 1 hour after to delete all bloatware
I need to use superuser chainfire to get root but my warranty validated because knox has been tripped I know before when I done this because better I will trip knox that I will live all bloatware inside the phone
Yes the phone maybe more smooth other test haven test
Second about kernels and other roms
I will never ever use any rom from internet ..... I do no say that rom developer can steal my data but Im always left this possibility
and second if you look the forum people updating this roms each week or couple days adding more stability bla bla it is looks that Samsung must not have any issues at all as so many people fixing but if read forum always find this better rom tweaked
So if all roms so good it must be rom without any problems at all but always will be 200 pages talks with the problems ?
Samsung employ programmers I do want to this they are "educated" creating exyons CPU and sorry for my saying so rom developer are better than Samsung team ?????? because they can fix the rom problems ??? I do missing something or Samsung need to replaced they employers ??? because they do not working just adding bloatware that all they can do ???
anyway I told what I wanted to say it is free country

adding to my morals
when I looked for upgrade s4 I have looked note 3 as the best experience phone etc .... bigger screen s pen 3 GB of ram I think that this phone will fly on everything
Now camera Yes it is good but all internet comparing IPhone camera as to other phones why ??????? Looks like iPhone camera is the best..
Cover I need to buy smart cover for 40 pounds if you want Samsung original or ebay for 10 Pounds copies some not working after chip identify Samsung put on
Now in the car I need to connect via Bluetooth because USB is not compactible with android it was created for IPhone WHY WHY WHY android do not have same as iPhone same design connections protocols ?
USB cable the USB 3 is very good fast speed but the connector now is double size it is not complain as original apple connector was 30 pin or ... so it was bigger but apple move to small lighting connector and Samsung going different way from small connector to bigger WHY ?
Now sound dac Snapdragon have they own dac not like Ipohne people love on note 2 Glalxy s3 dac Samsung decide to go with snapdragon dac
CPU GPU Samsung created exynos 5422 yes it is better chip then before but still not as good as IPhone dual core
GPU PowerVR G6430 in A7 chip WHY SAMSUNG CAN FIT THE SAME GPU TO NOTE 3 OR OTHER PRODUCTS ?????? it is leading GPU
the performance from this gpu is superb compare to snapdragon ....
My point I paying same price as IPhone but getting quality as 2 times less in performance in battery etc ...
I like android and I want to part of android because YES IT IS giving freedom some way But do I have choice for good device NO
Please don't feed the trolls

With android as our operating system we can choose the manufacturer of our choice. If the build quality was a very big issue then why didn't you choose HTC one M8. M8 beats the iphones in terms of build quality and even the HTC is providing a free screen replacement in case of broken screen.
I cant get the fact that you are comparing the battery life of the note 3 with other tablets. In the case of battery life note 3 has a flawless victory over the iphones.
Plus android provides the power of customization which beats all the features in IOS according to me. Widgets is another advantage for android over IOS. I guess by your above posts you may have not even rooted your android device. There is a whole another level and things to do with a rooted device.
If your problem with the OS you can always install a custom rom. The vanilla android roms provides a minimalistic operating system with smoothness over features. I guess you have not researched before buying your device. There are many devices like one plus one and nexus devices which provide the best value for money and best android experiences. The S pen features is something that you would never get from an IOS device.
Above all android provides a freedom to do what the hell we want with our device. Please stop your whining and get yourself an iphone, because you wont be wanted in this open source world. Goodbye
Great now I'm providing a little food and water. I look at the comparison of iPhone vs note as apples to kitkats. Both phones have great hardware. The iPhone has a superior camera. Note 3 has a massive edge in screen size. Hardware performance seems like a wash, both phones can handily blow through any task you throw at it. Battery life goes easily to note 3. Replaceable battery and sd card give note 3 a huge advantage in storage and longevity. Out of the box iPhone's IOS seems more polished vs. Samsung's heavily modded android os. The s-pen has a plethora of features the iPhone can't touch. The iPhone has boundless accessories created by independent manufacturers. But the main selling point to me is customization. IPhone can be jailbroken and freed from apple's iTunes monopoly and skinned, but with root the note 3 becomes a god. Through debloating, tweaking, root level/custom apps and roms the note 3 is a beast. But here's my question for you; why come to an android development community where everyone has already chosen a side? Personally I think you would be better finding an iPhone community full of sheeple. If you're not willing to customize your phone in any substantial way, I think you've come to the wrong place.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Note 5 - Which one did you buy ?

After the Samsung event today, when the pre-order went live, I got crazy over which one to buy. Even on samsung website, they have put a teaser to select the one I like. For being a note fan, I was inclined towards Note although I loved the edge display of S6 (never liked the 'S' series though). But finally, I took the big step. Ordered one S6 Edge+. Thought why not give a try, I can always change it after a year or two if its not that good, but I gotta try the edge for once.
So, which one did you buy ? (if you thought its worth the upgrade ofcourse). Or do you think I made a mistake ?
Yeah who know's if it's a good choice or not - tell us what it's like when you get it
Note 5 pretty much killed the Note series
I'll get it on 28th. I expected a delivery with the release date, however, I booked mine from BestBuy since they were giving away a free wireless charger (please note that this is not the fast wireless charging pad). I'll post some reviews once I use it for considerable time.:cyclops:

I'm still on my note 2 here. I was waiting for the announcement to decide if I wanted to go to note 4 or note 5.
The lack of SD card and no removable battery killed it for me.
Then I saw the new keyboard case!!
Omg be still my heart! It's been 4 years since my beloved HTC G2 and it's physical keyboard.
I might jump ship from the note and go for the s6 edge +!
I don't use my spen very often...
I like the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus, but the battery maybe the big problem which is bother me. Do I need to carry a power bank with it all day lone?
I wonder if existing S6 Edge owners will be pissed since they just bought a spanking new phone only a few months back, and now so soon an upgrade has been released.
Edge+ for me. I rarely used the S-Pen and just bought the Note line due to the large screen. Battery is a concern, but we will see.
Note 4. Samsung makes decision easy.
Being in the UK it would have to be the S6 Edge+. The only issue is that currently my provider (O2) has announced There will be 1 capacity available - 32GB but it hasn't even been 24 hours so I'm hoping it's incorrect.
Currently running 96GB on my Note

Exactly. The only thing good about the Note 5 or S6 Edge+ is the looks, mostly everything else is a downgrade over the Note 4.

Hey fellow loyal Samsung user who don't exist according to Samsung!
Even though I would have managed to get over the fact that for what ever reason the Samsung god decided we are not worthy of Note 5, when I went to O2 website and saw the only option of 32 GB.... I simply just close the tab and went to look at XiaoMi Redmi Note 2!

Right, Note 5 would have been my best choice for an high-end device to buy.
So... I'll buy a Nexus 5 2015.
I got a ship notification for the GS6E+ for a Monday delivery. I guess AT&T had them ready. I just ordered a few hours ago.
Im soo hyped i just got both the S6 Edge+ and the Note 5 pre ordered and im going forum post trigger happy lol I hope they mod, custom rom etc the works on these devices cuz i cant wait to see what these magicians can do with these devices!
which color are u getting, looks like US is getting only the black and the gold version, i was keen on the silver titanium version.
The verizon store owner who is also a friend told me that the gold version looks very classy, as a samsung rep brought it over to the store to show it to him.
I am kinda finding it hard figure out, if i should get the gold or the black
Decided on the edge+ cause i never use the s-pen

Well, I'm not the one to judge what you should or shouldn't buy, however, I wouldn't say its a downgrade in anyway. For further clarification, let me take a few examples of the things people have been complaining about:-
Lower Battery Life
-You might say it has a 200-300 mAh lesser than any competitive device or even older Note devices. However, there is a good reason for that too. The new AMOLED is highly optimized for less power consumption compared to older Note devices. GS6 Edge and Edge+/N5 packs the same Quad HD resolution, hence the screen consumption will be same even though the screen size is bigger since the PPI is reduced in Edge+/N5 (which is again irrelevant to naked eye).
-The 14nm processor is way more power efficient than the older processors used in Note series.
- The non inclusion of SD Card also positively affects the battery life, check google for more info (we will come to the negative side later)
- The LPDDR4 RAM in newer smartphones have double the efficiency (data rate) with considerably less power consumption.
Even though I do not disagree that inclusion of bigger battery with some compromise over thickness would have been better, however, the battery (even though sounds less on paper) is equivalent (if not more) to what we used to get in old note series.
Missing SD Card
This seems to be one of the biggest worries for most of the folks, and they do have a valid reason for that. However, if we talk about why the SD Card hasn't been included, I can tell you its definitely not because SD Card is not supported with UFS2.0. The real reason is due to UFS2.0 being too fast (atleast 3 times of eMMC 5.1 ). When coupled with an SD Card, just imagine the user experience when half the app is running from UFS2.0 while its cache/data is stored in SD Card, that might actually lead to lags. This is the same reason for Apple not supporting SD Cards too (they don't use UFS2.0 though). Although its not the perfect replacement, however, you can pick some cheap sandisk otg flash drives for like 10-15 bux or may be wifi flash drives for like 30-40 bux. At least that's what I use.
Removable Battery
I think they did it to make create that unibody design and give it the premium look. I know it might not be what we were looking for in Note series, however, I do remember the days of the past (like 2 years back) when Samsung was criticized for their cheap plastic models compared to metallic HTCs. Well, guess what, they heard us. Even I miss this one. I'm looking forward to pick one MobilePal QI enabled power bank which retails at around 38 bux. I know we can't carry another bulky device with us all the time, but samsung didn't leave us with much choice in this area.
Missing IR Blaster
I still couldn't figure out what made them get rid of this. I was so much looking forward to this one and this is probably the only thing I would miss on my upcoming flagship. Can't do much here either...
Overall, I do not think Samsung has released a downgrade to its predecessors. The inclusion of amazing hardware [14nm fastest processor, UFS2.0, DDR4 RAM, Fast Wireless Charging, LTE Cat9, Optimized S-PEN, etc] bundled with its fair and unique software does put it above any other flagships in the market ( if we do not consider the price range ). Again, this is not for the sake of any argument, its just as per my analysis. Please feel free to correct me if I've mentioned anything wrong.
If you don't like to call it a downgrade then call it a sidegrade if you like and of cause the SOC, Fast RAM, Software improvements for the SPEN and so on are on the plus side. The problems you name for a SD card would apply to OTG storage just the same, besides you have to have this externally plugged in tearing at the usb port. For now the majority of S6 users seem not to be very impressed by battery time. Maybe software improvements can make that better and the hardware has the potential to deliver equal running times, but for S6 users this promise is not yet fullfilled.
The plastic back of Samsung phone always were a pro argument for me and i did never understand why people cried for metal or glass bodies. A plastic back is light weight, very cheap replaceable. Never had a problem with that while other phones with metal bodies had poor connection strength.
Actually i bought the Note 4 yesterday from my carrier for 19,95€ with contract prolongation while a S6 (without edge) with 128GB would have cost me more than 340€ and S6edge+ will probably be even more expensive while having only 64GB and the Note not be available for Europa at all (at least for now). Paying 300-400€ more for a phone that has some technical advantages and a lot of disadvantages in usability and the promise that regarding battery time it might come close to the note 4 and some of the insufficiencies can be compensated, somehow. Sorry, I don't see this for me.
I think their new commercial slogan will be "Samsung, making decisions easy!".

switching to note 7

sold my s6 edge plus and bought note 7 now with the recall incident, anyone has such experience like me, how do you feel, actually the s6 edge plus should be lighter and thinner but I like the sd slot and water proof
I think you should ask about this in the Note 7 xda subsection, because people who are using this xda subsection probably haven't updated
I wouldnt touch a Note 7, Just like I wouldnt have an S7E... apart from the SD slot, they are inferior to the S6 E+ in every way.. hit/miss camera quality, terrible tinney speaker, the edge screen makes it impossible to hit the no 1 key first time, terrible battery drain...
IMO, If the S6E+ had an Sd slot, it wouldve been perfect... although it supports usb OTG..
the battery has been stellar after using package disabler though, it is better than my old s6 edge plus with over 6 sot
I am uncertain for photo quality at the moment for me note 7 is easier on hand than s6 edge plus due to the curve on the back

I think IP68 rating is the big ''flaw'' of our loved S6e+.
Yesterday I saw the Note 7 and I totally will pass the device. Of course in terms of beauty, n7 is inferior, differend edges, much heavier and thicker. My moms S3 will be swapped with s7e because of the 3600 mha battery.
Btw, I have actually owned an S7E so i speak from experience ... the trouble with ip68 on the S7E is the membrane they add to the speaker grill, Like the SONY Xperias, makes the speaker sound thin and a bit cheap.. also.. the combination of the edged screen and where the keyboard lies... I found it took me 3 - 5 attempts to hit the No 1 and A keys.. plus I dont know if it was just the one I had but also I found the camera not that great, my UK S7E had the ISOCELL cam...
With the N7 though.. I really think SS are just milking money out of customers.. the core of the N7 is the same design as the S7E, so its not as if they had to go back to the drawing board...
I do think SS make awesome devices and I love my edge+,, but this huge price increase since the S6 is putting me off next years S8..
IMO, iPhones are Really overpriced but IOS is unique, and is its own Secure OS which is very different, but SS are running Android and there are at least 15-20 new Android phones to choose from every year.
If SS had gotten TIZEN off the ground and the Galaxys were running that, then I could kind of understand the prices.. but £100 -200 more for another Android phone.. seems a bit much
I sincerely dont understand such threads. I own the SGS6Edge + and have had my note 7 returned. The Edge 6+ is a superb mobile as is the Note 7. They are however incomparable.
The Note 7 is a extension to the SGs7 range. It is aimed as business users. The S-pen is what the note is all about.
As for comparing prices let me write this I paid 50.00€ more for the note and got a free VR headset. Now the note 7 has numerous features that our S6+ does not have for example 64GB internal storage, expandable memory, water resistant, the S-pen, new UI, vastly improved camera and software, improved ergonomics etc, I wont bore you with more, that alone is well worth the extra difference in cost between the two mobiles. Believe me that S-pen has matured into a truly useful tool that I used every time I touched the phone! Its amazing what that new pen can do. Even if you don't need nor use the S-pen the other improvements are well worth the small price increase, did I mention the Note 7 comes with 64 gigs of internal memory and external memory card slot. :good:
Hey hey I do still like my Edge 6+ and was very relieved I had not sold it! In reality though we cant really compare oranges with bananas they are fruit but.......
When the Note 7 is re-released I will make another purchase without any doubt. NOT because its a 'better' mobile but because I want-need the extra features the note 7 brings. I will be keeping my SSG S6 edge+ as a back up though.

upgrade ?? confused

Hi all,
I'm confused and very hesitant about upgrading , I have a note 4 and I love it but like I said I'm very hesitant and reluctant to upgrade because I don't want to be a slave to a charger.....this is the number one reasons I hate Iphones besides not being able to expand the memory you can't switch out the battery, and you become as I stated a slave to a charger. Also I want to know if you are rooted & running the latest software does it make a difference what device you have? I know a friend of mine who has an s6 and I know one who has a note 5&6 their constantly charging it because the battery is constantly dying. can anyone tell me why I should upgrade to a note 5 if I cant expand the memory?
Can anyone tell me weather I'm doing the right thing, Or can anyone tell me anything to rest aside my fears concerning upgrading. ......thanks
I think best upgrade from note 4 is now s7 edge.
S8 is not anymore samsung phone becaus there`s no HW buttons and screen look ... WTF? WTF? ... pain in eyes so no thanks.
Still note 4 is amazing device but I think only exynos version becaus on Snapdragon if u have screen time 3 hours u can be happy of Exynos 6 hours sot.
I have 910F with snapdragon and low SOT is reason why i want to upgrade. (OR i need replace mainboard for 910C)
I did not upgrade my Note4 until the Note7 came out. Then it go recalled so went back to the Note4. I can swap the battery around when I want and I have a 256gb microSD card installed. It's still a great phone I say keep it.
I have rooted my Note4 and have a Note7 rom installed. It works really well.

There's really not a lot of good phones to upgrade to with as much features as the Note 4. Closest by far is the LG V20 and Huawei Mate 9.
I'm actually aiming for the BlackBerry KeyOne cuz how good the battery life will be, I'll wait for a full review though.
Im sad of 910F (snapdragon) battery life. I looking for 910C (Exynos) but in my country is quite imposible
Short Answer: The Note 4 won't be beaten by new phones. Only if you are willing to sacrifice 2 features. The pen, and the removable battery. But for the next 2 to 3 years, it will stand alone on the throne.
Swapped the battery in the beginning of the year, because it died down with some shutdowns after 2 years of usage. No Shutdown since then, I have low SOT but still got 3 days instead of 2 before (910F). Just imagine having a phone with a fixed battery, you would either have to live unhappy with it or buy a new phone. The display is absolutely fine, no AMOLED aging problems yet.
It got a fine camera, 4k video, QHD Display, fast processing power and UI, good battery life, and a pen. That's so far stuff the note 4 has, and isn't worse than recent phones in a considerable amount in any of the things it does.
I crave for an even bigger display (something like 6 - 6,4 inch with 16:9), dual sim (with the bands I need), small bezels, and durable design on the edges (no bent display). I mean man, i dropped the note 4 so many times. The metal frame got damaged like it should, and the display hasn't broken yet.
Future Galaxy Notes won't get bigger in my opinion (Samsung using 2:1 ratio, only good for movies), and even after the note 7 disaster, removable batteries are going to be even less common (like no flagship phones have them anymore).
My only hope are smaller asian companies. But even Xiaomi (who are not small in any way, but they show to have the guts and put money into development of innovative phones like the Mi Mix), won't introduce an integrated pen and removable battery design just like that. Who knows, maybe in 5 years it may be different. When phones are just a display at the front, and you have to be different because they all have become the same concerning the design (lg g6 = s8 design, or like all the sharp aquos and the mi mix).
By the way, I use the dr. Ketan rom. Main Reason: With UC Browser (you can use a custom background, like a black picture. Bugless black browsing experience), and the official samsung theme manager, I got a close to complete black UI.

on s8 you can set the navigation bar to be static and black and you will get the same as hardware buttons with the plus of the force touch home button.
nobody used to the hardware button will get any difference in using them.
to understand what i'm saying just give a look at the antutu benchmark ... you will see the black bar.just imagine the black bar with buttons.no difference
you can adjust even the ratio to be 16/9 so...if you want you can get advantages from the infinity display otherwise not
Still its amoled. After half year of using u will have different collors on display on Button spot. But i dont understand why samsung use just only 4gb of ram on latest CPU ... Most of application eat around 700mb and 8gb will be nice to have on flagship.
I using my note 4 as navigation but s8 rly sux with screen ratio + edges for it.
I thinking about upgrade to oneplus 3t but night shots its imported for me alot + battery life where is samgung s7 edge for now best choice.
Even by current standards the Note 4 is still a very good device. Especially if you have the Exynos variant.
If the Note 4 had the S7 Edge Camera, fingerprint scanner and Ip68 resistance, it would be Samsung King.

How long till S8 becomes too old?

Hello XDA Friends!
I wonder how long (months, years) Samsung Galaxy S8 will be good enough to have that phone.
What do You think folks?
Probably the battery will quickly become a problem.
Do You think it would be a wise to sell S8 now and in 2 years buy a newer Samsung?
I barley use S8, mainly to take photos record videos.
Do You think that Samsung has since 2018 to much competition and I could buy a decent phone from Huawei, Honor or Xiaomi without spending a fortune on Samsung.
I don't play games BTW.
Please share with me Your thoughts.
I have mine (s8+) more than a year, use it very intensive (work, including Dex, in the car, private, gaming) - and I'm still very happy with it. Battery is a slight issue, from day one (but I come from a Huawei, and they are champion in battery!), but don't see any sign of battery getting worse.
When s9 came out I have looked at it, but didn't see any added value to my s8; maybe the s10 to come will be my next phone?
Short answer: I don't see any signs of s8 becoming 'too old' yet. My 2p.

I can see: two weeks after buying S8 the batter started to be shortly like in older Galaxy models.
That is how Samsung will push Us to buy new flagships cause a few years with that batttery will be a torture to use it with old (S8) phone

Nothings ever too old either it still works or it dont...I wouldnt hesitate to use any "old" device right now if it works good. Even right now I got a note 3 that runs beautifully.....But at the same time I hve had my S8 since december it feels "old" to me
I give it until late 2019 to early 2020.

galaxy note 3
Software wise:
If we compare s8 to other galaxy devices,
Note 9 has no exclusive software features (apart from Spen related) that excited me.
I believe it will become old once Note 10 is released.
And s8 will become too old once Note 11 is released. Thanks to no treble and only 2 major android updates.
I still believe Pixel Android will take couple of more years to catch up to Samsung Experience's features.
Performance wise, I don't mind my apps opening 2-3 seconds slower.
Hardware wise:
We will see what s10 and s11 brings to the table in terms of battery and ram.
64GB storage will be plenty for me and we got SD expansion.
5.8" QHD+ screen size is just perfect. not too big not too small.
Camera, meh, even in 2020 the mid range phones won't catch up to s8. s6 camera is still better than most mid range phones today.
Speaker, sure stereo is better but i prefer earphones and it has headphone jack.
