For you guys with this device some questions - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

1. How is audio with usb-c to headphone jack adapter? Is it really poor?
2. Also does magisk/xposed work with your device?

Magisk is perfect for me. I don't use usb-c adapter

What android version are you on? Do you use an xposed as well?

I use the adapter from time to time with my stereo, it works well I think. Sounds like any typical 3.5mm jack. I use magisk, it works at expected. Very well! I never tried Xposed framework since passing safety net is important to me, I like my bank app and Google Pay to work. Xposed SHOULD work though, I don't see why it wouldn't, but again I've never used it on the 6T.
EDIT: To answer your above question, the 6T is a Pie device. Shipped with 9.0

1. It sounds like your average phone audio, I just hate bringing the adapter everywhere with me.
2. Yes, I'm currently using Magisk 19.1. I've never tried exposed though

I use a usb-c to 3.5 mm almost every day for music in my car, sounds just like anything else to my ears, and can always be tweaked using viper
Magisk works just fine and I don't have many Xposed modules but it works as expeted
And using edxposed you still pass safety net so no reason not to use Xposed for minminguard alone in my book

Help! No sound through car dock with 4.2.2

I just unlocked/rooted and have been playing around with a few roms to see which I like best. One HUGE issue for me is none of the 4.2.2 roms allow audio to come through the car dock usb cable. I know google ditched the car mode in 4.2.2 and thats ok by me (lots of alternatives) but I just bought a car dock so I wouldn't have to plug multiple cables in when getting into the car.
Anyone know a workaround or any ROMS that have it working? Or, any 4.2.1 ROMS out there worth flashing?
Thanks
Andy
Can anyone confirm any 4.2.2 ROMS that have working audio through the motorola car dock? A few folks claim there are but no one will confirm exactly what ROM.

I take back what I said. These were guys talking about their stock ROMs on the HD. However this was just posted a few days ago: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/restore-car-dock-mode-on-android-4-2/
Thanks for the link but this just enables the car dock trigger to be activated and allows the home key to bind to the car dock home screen when pressed. I have had no problem with a 4.2.2 rom and a market car dock app being triggered when placed in the car dock. Once in the car dock though the audio does not flow through the usb cable (special cable that is split on the charging end with a headphone jack so only one cable goes into the dock)
The audio through usb car dock issue is a little deeper.
I will keep searching but thanks for your efforts.
Tried the new beanstalk but still a no go for sound through the dock. Phone kind of freezes when you try to play something while docked too like most cm 10.1 ROMs.
Silk hoping someone figures this out.

TC: Does this cable setup you have work on the stock ROM? I know mt Razr M car dock came with a normal USB cable and a separate headphone cable. I was under the impression that the Razr M did not allow audio over USB like some of the other models do.
Could be wrong, just want to see what's going on here it it is capable.

Yes, it works on stock ROM as well as CleanRom. The cable that came with my dock (some docks don't come with it) has on one end the micro usb and on the other a regular sized USB and a headphone female split off of it. It is really convenient because then you just dock the phone and both are connected.

Still searching for a 4.2 ROM with working car dock audio. Tried a few that some said had it working (BeanStalk, CM official nightlies) as well as most others.
Come on, someone has to have fixed this. Can anyone confirm any 4.2 or later roms that have fixed this?
I heard it's been fixed on some other 4.2 phones (s3 I think...)
Basically Google removed the code from the kernel, so a new kernel would be required to fix it.

Anyone know of any roms (confirmed) that have enabled this yet?

I haven't seen any or personally tried any. However, I was just looking through the thread about the XPosed Framework modules. There's a module in there that is for allowing car dock on 4.2.2. I don't know if it works, but it never hurts to try. You'll need to install the Xposed Framework installer app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 . Then use the modules from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541 .
If it works, come back and let us know.

Don't think that is going to do it as I have no problems with Car Dock Mode being enabled (the phone recognizing it is in a dock). I will try it if I get the time though.

Ah, gotcha. I didn't read too much into what the module actually did.

Any Rom's past 4.1 with Dock Audio Working?

Just Checking back in to see if anyone has found a ROM past 4.1 that has working Dock Audio through the USB cable? I am still stuck on CleanRom 4.1 because I love the convenience of docking in my car without having to plug anything else in. Would love to move up to a more current ROM but haven't found one that works and kind of getting tired of flashing.
I think there is an xposed module that provides a solution for this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it and it only hooks the home key to return to the car app in the dock. Doesn't do anything for passing audio through the usb cable.

Boost USB C Volume?

Hi all
What's the best way to get more volume from the USB c port? I'm rooted with magisk?

Viper4Android Module from Magisk will do that just fine.
Which settings boost? Or any particular profile?
I've noticed this as well it's not very loud even with v4a gain maxed. In fact when playing music and turning off v4a there is almost no difference at all.
Back on the OP6 it was amazing for music with the kernel and sound boost but it doesn't seem to be available for the USB C port

USB-C audio in 9.0 update

Hello y'all,
I recently discovered by accident that when I tried plugging in my PS4 controller through the USB-C port the phone was showing headphones icon in the status bar. And sure enough, the audio wasn't coming from the phone. So can anyone test this out since I don't have any USB-C headphones, but I always wanted them.
Thanks to anyone participating in this test.
Write your results here.
Audio through USB-C works at least since Android 8.1. I've USB-C mini DAC (Hidizs Sonata HD) and works perfectly. Also I tested Nobsound NS-10g USB input via USB host adapter and also works. So, isn't a new feature of 9.0 update, if you are thinking so.
I've been using fulla schiit 2, usb audio works on 8.1

Actually yes, I was thinking it's new because when I tried my friends USB C headphones it didn't respond.
But thank you for clarifying me! Your response is appreciated.

Does your Hidizs Sonata work also with Android Pie? I've just got Sonata II and it works only if I connect it within one minute after reboot. After that the phone ignores it and acts like nothing has been connected (but the phone is powering the dongle as I see increased draw in logcat and hear a very faint click in the headphones). So if I want to listen via Sonata, I must connect it first and reboot the phone, then it works perfectly. I tried all the available firmwares for Sonata, it does the same with all of them. With the PC or Huawei phone it works whenever I connect the dongle, so it most probably isn't faulty USB DAC, but rather something in the phone. Also I'm missing the option "Audio source" in the USB options in the phone's settings completely, if it makes any difference/sense.

Yes, my unit works perfectly with Android Pie, stock and custom ROM. What build are you using? Maybe something is corrupt

I'm no stock Android Pie, tried the adapter with February patch. Unfortunately adapter just stopped working with all of my devices (got really hot and then died completely), so can't verify with March update.
I'm going to visit an Apple store and try their USB-C - 3.5mm adapter, it is being said to be of a very high quality and is just 10USD/EUR and available locally, so I don't have to wait more than a month for delivery of another Hidizs from China.
Apple dongle behaves the same. Working when connected within ~1 minute after reboot, won't work on later (re)connection. I tried a different kernel to no avail. Would love to know why is it happening.
Edit: it happens that I'm forgetful, see explanation below
Oh my.. I'm stupid guys, I totally forgot that I configured recommended workaround "disable USB host" for 70000.USB wakelock couple of months ago. It was running one minute after boot via Tasker, no wonders I was experiencing this. Dongle works completely fine now (except of volume buttons on the Apple DAC). Sorry for stupid confusion.
