Device temp - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Does the s10+ run slightly warmer at idle compared to the Note 9?
I ask because under no load my Note 9 would run approx 24C and my S10+ approx 32C . Both Snapdragon models.

That seems high, mine under load aka web browsing right now it's 89° F about the same as yours at idle. I will see spikes to about 100° F under charging and load. Idle seems to be 80-85° F. You have a background app sucking power or something maybe?

Thing is mine doesn't go much higher than 89F even when doing tasks that you mentioned. Compared it to my wife's s10+ same thing., I think normal.
I dont think I've seen mine or wife's ever go below 86F at idle. Getting good battery life. Dont see any apps causing drains either.
Edit, hit 84F after idle for a while with case off.

Experience with heating of the S4

Hello XDA,
I decided to open this topic as I've been fumbling around with my device alot lately. Lately I've started to notice a dramatic increase of temperature while using my device running simple tasks like chrome, whatsapp etc. This only sometimes gets the device till 45-50 degrees Celsius, this is the CPU's temperature. While gaming, it reaches a whopping 60C ! Flashed to stock, updated to new base, reboot after reboot did not solve this issue. While charging sometimes it gets really really hot!
Now I'm wondering about your experiences, how hot does your CPU get doing what tasks? I'm wondering because im contemplating whether or not bring my device in to a service center as I've never had a device CPU above 45 degrees celsius.

I've always wondered if more users experienced the same issue, now i'm doubting whether or not even to send it to samsung or not. Any more people are more than welcome to share their experiences
Anyone else?

I think its normal.
Does your phone start to lag when it gets hot? If not, then in my opinion you are still safe.
Same here, but I only realized it was heating last month. Maybe it has something to do with a background process? Sometimes I can even feel the heat when my phone is in my pocket
It doesnt lag, but it does heat up ALOT while doing light tasks, up to 50C

My S4 heats up on charge with any battery.
I found mine goes really hot on charge than heat goes down on trickle charge.

Is yours getting hot fast?

Mine was getting warm from the start. Thought it was lack of SIM, put that in and made some adjustments and its getting pretty darn hot... Am I alone on this?
When I first got it and put it on the fast charger and was playing with it. I noticed same thing it felt really warm even after i had it off the charger, but today I have not experienced the same. I have been using it pretty regularly but have not had it on the charger or played any games (at work) so I will report back once I do

Good to know I'm not alone. Good thing I got this at BB. If it's just a small percentage maybe I can just swap it out. It feels about 100 degrees + right now. So I'm using my tablet. I don't want to unlock bootloader until I know for sure.

Wanted to let everyone know it does cool down a lot after charging to 100%. You will receive it at about 35% and it gets hot fast. Idk why, even with SIM... It adjusts though and can't wait for a recovery to root!

Could be the sar levels making your hands hot. I think the sar levels are high on this phone.

Why would sar level make hands hot or impact the battery, seems strange
And what is Sars ha-ha, in 5 years never heard of that, other than the disease!

So it's Radiation? Wow thought that was only minor.. From what I read its a big deal. Nexus 6 was pretty high, but iPhone was .1 away from legal limit!

I always wondered why my ear glowed the the dark after using my phone.
@Fantach read up on SARS levels on phones. It also makes the area of the body warm.
I plugged mine in with the Turbo charger when I got it (was at 43%) and did all the downloading and updating apps. It felt pretty hot, so I checked it with Gsam battery and it was 118 degrees. That's hotter than my M9 gets doing the same thing, but the M9 stays hot longer.
After it reached 100% (which was pretty fast), it cooled down pretty quick... It also didn't take too long to get back down to 70% (maybe 3 hours). Standby time is pretty good, but SOT seems to drain the battery pretty quick. But this is a new phone (basically a new ROM flash) and will settle in a few days and I expect to see better battery stats.

Heat is 100% fine. And Motorola Nexus 6 was a lot lower than iPhone.... Like myself and 2 other guys said. It's like the phone adjusts. It gets very hot AT FIRST, then it drastically cools down. Did an Antutu and it didn't even heat up. I swear, heat isn't an issue.

Thank you for your clarification, i feel much better now :victory:
Mine got hot today as well. It was downloading my apps. A little more past 100 apps from the Play Store. It's not a constant issue since I have been using the MXP
I've had this phone for 3 days and it has not calmed down. Still gets hot and this screen destroys battery time. It has nice standby but when the screen is a battery hog. The temps get high with any real usage. My Nexus 6 has been much better with temps and battery. Wondering if it's a bad faulty batch or if this is the processor/screen.
It's a shame because this phone is a dream besides all that. But I am suspect to keeping this with the overheat and battery drain.

Could you try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yanyan.cputemp and inform us about your cpu and battery temperature when it gets hot on regular usage (no gaming).
I encourage others to do the same so we could see what are we dealing with, thank you :fingers-crossed:
I will install. FYI... I don't game.

Phone Temperature?

My phone has been getting really hot even reaching 110 degrees this only using the phone for FB, Tapatalk or G+ is this normal or could be a faulty unit, and also could be this the reason for a not good battery life?

During extended screen on time, like having Hit-it-rich running for 20 minutes
my Moto X Pure reached the temperature of 113
Still stock
The same screen time and app running on the One Plus One -- Reached the temperature of 101.3
The One Plus One is using CM12.1
These are battery temperatures according to the program.
I'm on my second moto x and it definitely runs much cooler than the first which would get to 112 browsing chrome.
I haven't bothered to check this unit as it is that much better.
The only time I noticed mine get hot was when I was installing all my apps. Since then, it's been remarkably cool, even when streaming Rick & Morty HD from Amazon.
It gets hot with Candy Crush...
mine gets warm from charging or just when i have the screen on ...it's always pretty warm, but as far as problems go that is pretty far down on the list
Mine hit 120 degrees F according to Ampere using Waze on the drive home. I use adaptive brightness set at half. I also have an Incipio Case protecting it....although I feel it's only hurting it temp-wise. I'm so on the verge of rooting tonight, but feel I might want to hold off in case I have to return it for lower than wanted battery life and the announcement of the Huawei 6p.
The only time I've noticed it getting warm since initial setup was while making a nandroid backup. I've not been very demanding of it though.
Phone Temperature!!!
Mine gets to 107 when playing heavy 3D games and at same time downloading with LTE beyond ten minutes. Other than that it is barely warm to warm. 80s and mid 90s. Upper 90s with 3d games.
Mine easily gets above 110 when I'm playing clash for a few min. Seems to avg 100 anytime my screen is on. Thinking I might need to swap for another one.

Only time mine got hot was when I tried to play Monster Strike while plugged in..got up to 107 but there was no degradation of performance.
are you guys talking celcius or F!? i sure hope F lol.
right now installing all my apps and charging on my samsung fast charger, it's at 150 F lol..pretty damn hot. i just cut my sim down to a nano sim but i think it cut some of the sim part off ugh..gonna try it..if not, off to verizon to get a card
mine ran 100+ at all times. Texting, tapatalk, facebook, anything it was always hot. Worst call quality, awful heat and battery I had return label printed after a half a day of use. Worst phone ever
∆ Too bad you got a dud. My Pure is great fwiw.

mines getting pretty warm.. what are you guys using to view temp? the one I used says it can't read temp and only figured it out with an algorithm... so idk if it's even legit. but yeah this phone def gets warmer than my note 4. I have a feeling it's just a warm phone overall. when turbo charging it gets really hot when you're using it. I think it's fine though. I'll probably keep mine.

When I returned mine to bestbuy the guy said the Moto X Pure was getting returned like crazy, and it was due to heat issues. He didn't even look at the phone to see if I had unlocked it, which I had. Apparently I was the fourth return that day and it was 2 PM.

Mine gets hot as well. Dk the exact temp but just browsing chrome, playing a game, or watching a Youtube video will make this phone hot. Most likely will return to Motorola this week, it's not much of an upgrade compared to the OPO in my opinion.

OnePlus 2 battery overheating and draining with noticeable lag

Hey forum!
So I bought my OnePlus 2 less than a month ago (couldn't resist buying it after I finally got an invite), and it's been less than a month and there is a noticeable lag on it, especially while typing. While charging, the battery temperature goes up to 50 degrees C (no apps open), and while on a call or Skype or watching YouTube videos, the battery starts heating up.
My benchmark scores have been getting lower and lower and my battery life, after charging it fully, lasts only about 3 hours or so.
I am running the native OxygenOS version 2.1.1.
I am thinking of flashing my phone to unofficial CM12.1. Do you think this will help or is the phone defective?
Pictures have been posted here http://postimg.org/gallery/1vfjeyhbu/
I suggest you to a factory reset. And my guess is that it's not the battery heating up, it's the CPU.

galaxy s8 heats up

My s8 heats up a bit not too much but enough to make my fingers uncomfortable from taking in too much heat. I have the screen resolution set on 1080p. Anyone else facing this issue?
When you're doing intensive stuff the phone will heat up, all of them heat up.
So far the S8 has run cooler than any of my past snapdragon devices.
