Browsing other Xperia Z2 forum, a user asked about the water resistance and input headset, since it has no external insulation, as covers. One reviewer said the author of the following topic:
"Check if you don't see a screen light in the hole, there were some not sealed examples problems.. it should be dark when the phone is unlocked. Would help to make sure it is sealed."
This actually makes sense?
I tested mine and when I turn on the device screen I can see light through the hole of the headset!
Has anyone tested to see if it makes sense?
I haven't heard about this, but for the screen gap issue Sony said you could take your phone to a repair center for a water resistance test, I'm sure they would do this for you if you are worried about it.
I see the light of the screen through the jack and I plunged my phone several times in the water, no problem.

As I said though if you are worried about the headphone plug, they should be able to test that for water resistance as well.

I can see the light too, no water has passed so far (at least nothing that effected the phone). Not sure if a straight way to the digitizer does any good.. Like is the digitizer waterproof?
This sounds strange but put the hole to your mouth and such on it like a straw then plug it with your tongue. If the suction stays then your good and waterproof.

I can also see light and phone is waterproof. And its not a hole, its just thin plastic leaking light through itself

I was very relieved! The people have to be careful with things that speak the internet! This sometimes ends up becoming epic proportions and great discomfort to the users of the device!
Actually I noticed that there is a thin plastic near the light!

No no, I have a gap between the speaker and the edge of the screen, and even another gap between the touchscreen and the edge, no problem.
Note that I have not tried to immerse the phone more than 30 cm deep

I do not know if you saw, but it has a huge discussion about the water resistance of the device with those gaps!
If you can take pictures would help a lot! A macro photo of good resolution!

Did a clean install when 5.1.1 came out... just upgraded to most recent fw but it's been like this since I upgraded to lollipop.
My Z3C never had this issue. DT2W works flawlessly but it's disabled on my phone because it was waking up too often while in my pocket
The thing is DT2W worked flawlessly on the first kitkat FW when this phone came out... After the upgrades you'll hv to move it like pick it up then it'll work properly. If you leave it on a flat surface for awhile and tap it without moving it then it'll be like in the OP's video.
Sent from my SM-T705 using XDA Free mobile app
It's the same for me. Worked very good on 4.4, now only with movement before on 5.0, 5.1. I think they tried to make it less sensitive to waking the screen in the pocket or something. Though not the best solution.

GravityBox has this "Proximity wake-up" feature.
The phone will never wake-up when the proximity sensor is covered (even when you use the power button instead of double-tap)
Sometimes the double tap doesn't respond well at all.

I didn't notice any battery drain using that feature.
It seems the sensor is not used all the time. Maybe it is used only when there's an attempt to wake up the phone.

lol so you have a case and a tempered glass screen protector and you are adjusting the way you put your phone in your pocket in order to avoid the possibility of grinding your hip into a wall whilst avoiding someone. wow. you are one cautious individual.
Just get gravity box. Once you have that tap to wake is perfect.

Hello everybody,
I am a worried owner of a Xperia Z5. I have had it for a little more than a month now.
I have discovered that my phone is bend and it's not the result of a particular accident. It's bend in my jeans pocket. It's my first Sony and i have never had this problem with other brands.
It's bend just where you put in the SD and SIM card. I guess the frame is weak at this spot
Am i the only one with this problem?
Kind regards
I don't have this issue.. I put my Z5 in the front pockets.. Do u put it in the rear pockets?

Sent from my E6653 @ XDA Portal
Considering the place where it's bent and the phone dimension I would say front pocket with 'heads' down or back pocket with 'heads' up and then a quite strong force applied by sitting down and having the pants get tight and thus bending the phone against your leg. A sturdy casing would be good in those situations.
Are you one of those lads who wears those skinny jeans that are designed for girls?
Sent from my Xperia z5 using Tapatalk
Just ordered my Devilcase, I don't think it will bend with such a bumper.
Yours look not good though.. I would bring it back for warranty if I where u.
Sony won't do an RMA on it. They say this can only happen because of misuse. Guess this was my last Sony

Maybe....but I have never had this kind of issue with another phone. I think I will avoid phones build of only glass and a metalframe. I guess they can't cope with my definition of normal use.
The other phones may be made of soft plastic instead of glass and medals. It happens more often than people think. Instead of a bend some phones it equals a broken screen even when the body is straight as if there was no impact.

You might be right. I have just never had this problem before and I have had almost all the Nexus devices and the Oneplus One.
I feel you. I seen where people claim they didn't abuse their phones and their screen randomly shattered out of nowhere. Some of them here on these very forums. It happens and always sucks for the person it happens to. Now if only we had phones like the Flex

Hahahahahah..... I can't believe there are people that are so ignorant! Why on earth would you even think of blaming a company for that?
ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE IS ALWAYS USER'S FAULT!
I'm sorry, but I've got to agree with Sensination.
The phone didn't bend on its own. It was because you were storing it wrong. Sony has every right to refuse a return.
It's obviously not a widespread issue. Just make sure you store your next device in a better pocket.

As i said earlier they did not acknowledge the bend as covered by the warranty. The answer was that the bend was from wrong use of the phone. After that I decided not to fix the bend, because the phone isworking fine.
Hey all
I just unoacked my 2nd Z3+, but I thought Ide share this with the community....
The reason Im onto my 2nd device is because on my 1st Z3+ the camera images had a cloudy ghosting to them and some chromatic abboration.. but what ive realised now is... all Xperia devices are shipped. with the white frosted protective sticky films covering both the back and front of the Xperia that you peel off..
However when I did peel them off I noticed they leave behind a tacky oily residue on the the REAR glass back which is on your fingers when you first use your Z, probably why the back panel gets all "finger marked up" out of the box , but I now wonder if this is also on the camera hence why I got cloudy images.. I dont mean the Display screen itself as the xperia comes with a screen protector already on it, so thats ok..
I just gently cleaned my camera glass with a lint free cloth and a touch of water (no soap) or lense cleaner and it seems to be taking great shots, so if your finding this yourself, give that a try... I will say ... its not the best idea to clean any camera glass too much, as this can cause its own problems.. too much rubbing can build up static which attracts lint and dust particles, also smearing from the cloth.. use a lint free cloth, Personally, Ive found a quick clean every now and again is a good practise
Just thought Ide share this

Yes, It overheats while gaming, browsing & using camera at top back of the phone. The heat is a bit higher than normal. Except that it is wonderful phone. If you concern about heat, ignore this phone else go for it.
Average battery
heats tooo much...till 46deg celsius... at that temp its lag a bit
Except all this its good mobile....
Camera is awesome
I rooted mine, debloated and installed project skynet. No lag at all and sits comfortably 35-45 which by modern standards is acceptable. This is a thin phone too remember.
My Z3+ is E6553 Rev. 5, which came with a fast charger in the box, and Ive found the heat is not as bad for me as alot of people have been reporting, I only shoot in 1080p video as well... and yes while is does get hot, its not untouchable... so maybe my Revision is an updated one.
I do really like this phone, its design and UI. I had considered a Z3, but SONY no longer support the Z3. I prefer the Z3+ for its wider camera angle, and extra modes, I know the Z3+ still uses the SONY RS sensor, but i read they had updated the imaging algorythms and changed a few things. Also the bottom mounted USB port.. (the usb covered flap on the Z3 is infuriating). Also I find the overall volume is louder for both ringer and music as well as the speakers being moved to the edges so they dont collect as much gunk and pocket lint.
Yeah.. its a great phone. Over here in UK you can buy for about £250 - £300 sim free, so its a great buy

Here I have a 100% fix for the galaxy note 4 emmc error and random reboots,
Including unable to unlock phone, deep sleep issues, and random behaviour.
Also fixes overheating and battery issues as well as makes GearVR work without heating issues.
This is a hardware fix and so far has been 100% effective on all devices I have repaired,
Its an easy repair and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
No special tools are needed and I have posted a video below to show how this is done.
All you will need is a bank card or spudger, a pair of scissors and some cardboard from a cereal box.
You may also need a drop of glue or blue tack.
Although this usually stops all issues on most devices you may still need wakelock but usually it's not needed.
Paypal donation welcome if it fixed your phone you could donate here https://paypal.me/Arnookie anything helps no matter how small.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLPHWtb0StI
Anyone attempting this please do not go under the glass try push it forward from the battery compartment and then run a card around the edges of the grey plastic. Just go carefully when doing this and don't rush. You can heat the screen with a hairdryer to make removing the phone from the casing easier. It's the best way to do it.
Also you could use Aluminium Thermal pads or Copper instead of cardboard for better thermal cooling. Just make sure its 0.5mm or 1.2mm thick but no thicker!
You will get great 3d mark results using Aluminium, Copper or Thermal pads. "Do not use any kind of thermal pastes!!", You have been warned! But even using just cardboard works great as well.
Don't blame me if you break your phone more by attempting this. But if your phone is not working, you really have nothing to loose.
If you have an old phone you would like to donate please send me a PM.
1. Thanks a lot mate, I can confirm that this method works. At least it helps to turn the phone on/off asap without removing the battery then waiting like before.
2. Also, I am glad to break the front glass, and also cut off the blue wire for phone signal, just by sliding my credit card when trying to open the parts. So now I am ordering the new glass and a set of wifi/phone signal wires.
I am not blaming you, LOL, just to add in some information that anyone who never open the Note 4 themselves would do an extra care on this work.
Well done for your tips!!!
I'm glad it worked for you. Sorry to hear your glass cracked. That's a pain. I do try to explain not to go under the glass when doing this. I'm sorry if it was not so clear. Anyone attempting this please do not go under the glass try push it forward from the battery compartment and then run a card around the edges of the grey plastic. Couldn't this cause a fire?
Sent from my Samsung SM-N910T using XDA Labs
No not really but if you like you could use aluminium or copper for better cooling and thermal performance. But it must be no thicker than 3 or 4 folds of cereal cardboard.
This has worked for many people already.
See the comments.

Instead of cardboard, I used folded aluminum to the desired thickness and reassembled. My note 4 actually turns on properly where prior the phone would shut off from minor use and had to remove the battery and pop it in the freezer just to turn on.... I did have 2-3 reboots so far but that was after heavy usage (few minutes gaming and gps usage).
I saw a similar youtube video that actually showed a voltage power supply and volt meter to the out put and pressure on the emmc card was the solution as well.
Thanks for the fix! Hope I can get more usage out of the old Note 4.
Yeh I actually upgraded this to aluminium as well. ?
