You can use Logcat X or Matlog app to capture log. Root is a necessary for this process.

My Wifes phone does the same thing..Every time she sends MMS the pic is side ways???How do u hold the phone when takin pic up an down??or on its side(landscape)???
Two workarounds
1) Install app "picsay" from the market. Use the export option to share via Facebook/MMS/Gmail.
2)Copy files to PC, double click on them. On Windows Photo preview, click rotate. Copy back to the phone.

HTC are the only phones, that I know of, that rotate pics based on the orientation that they were taken.
I have a question... I think this is the place and I have not seen any other place with an answer.
I have an android app and I need to test a certain test.
The app has an ingredient list and there were issues where if I had over 100 ingredients it would FC.
So whenever I update my app, I have to test this for regression. But it just sucks because I have to make the list of ingredients again.
Is there a way to save a state of the app and whenever I do an update I can restore the data on it and do the test instead of manually adding data?
Any suggestion is really appreciated and would love to hear the options. Also the device has to be not rooted if possible.
Thanks in advance!
Nothing anyone can help me on?

With root, there is Titanium Backup, but without it, I don't know any way, sorry... The emulator has the snapshot option on starting, but I guess if you update the app it's not going to work.
What you can do is this, add an option to the App to backup the data to let's say a csv file, and then later restore that...

Presumably your users wouldn't want to start again when they update ? Or is it a game or something where you do start from nothing each time ?
I would say, save state to either external storage or a database, then it will be preserved across updates (implement a 'save game' if necessary)
hi to all, it's my first time to be here! me and a friend of mine have joined a small competition that require for participating -of cours- to develop an android app! also we are a newbies in java developement and it's our first experience in android world, so my question is: is there a java or linux or c++ code that can power on an android device at a specific time? I googled a lot of time and i didn't got an answer. Please any suggestion or help? And sorry foy my bad english.
No definitely not!*
Because, you're app is only running if android has booted, so there is now way for your app.
The build-in Clock-App can't do it, too!
The only think you can do is, to unlock a booted phone.
Regards
-----
*There could maybe a way, for a specific phone, which has the hardware, which is needed and a SDK for developers for that hardware. But I don't know anyone.
Thanks for the replay. You speaked about the build-in clock app can't do it? it's indeed a reality! But why? unlike the android phone, when you set the alarm clock app in a Nokia phone and you shutdown the device.. the app is able to power on and boot the os!! So why it's not possible on android! is it something related to android architectur (layers)? maybe the hardware? can someone give me an explanation please.
Yes, I suppose you'll need specific hardware support. If the phone is really off, there needs to be some kind of timer that is still running, which can turn the phone on, so it can boot again, and then run some app for the alarm or whatnot.
Apparently Blackberry phones support it too, perhaps others as well, but it's not a common feature on Android phones.
Thanks you for the info.

there are many apps available on play store search and get it all working ....
Have a nice day
I dont know how to but its possible in Android because if you got to Settings --> Accessibility --> There is an option to turn on and off the device... So there must be a turn around for the same...
I also have a similar kind of Idea for my next app but dont know how to run my app when the phone is off or how to switch it on...
Maybe in rooted devices...Please let me know if you get anything similar.
Thanks

Tasker would probably be your best bet.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/failedloginphoto
That is old school, but you could modify for your case.
first, i don't have root now.
second, i can start the app before and then to close the screen and to take pictures with pattern or press some place...
Wait, what?
Are u an spy or something? haha ;l
There are Gallery apps in the playstore that have a "private" function that require a password to view and some are just hidden?
Also with apps like QuicPic, and many others, you can long press on a folder and "hide" it... Then it's not visible while using that gallery app, but you can find it using a file explore or you can re-enable the view of that folder.
this is how upskirts happen
no .. i don't s[y or something like that even not something that rude, just want to take pictures and to send them to a specific number but...without opening the locked phone
there is something here

but WHY?
you have to understand why ppl find this EXTREMELY sketchy. you're admitting u want to take and send pics without someone knowing about it
example?in test, or in meeting, more?

You're not supposed to take pictures when you're taking a test, that would be wrong. And what comes to meetings, there's really no need to hide what you're doing with your phone.
i have my porposes i don't understand what these doing with the question? if you can help, help if not so not..belive me i don;t use it for illigal porposes, for thet there is special spy stuff
this is a funny post to read so far. But yeah i would not post stuff like that in here since i would make you seem very sketchy regardless what reasons may be. And good luck to find one
This is not going to go anywhere. Nor do I see anything good coming out of this. Thread closed.
Hey everyone. I am having a issue with my phone when trying to take a screenshot. It will not allow me to take a screenshot, saying "Prevented by security policy." I discovered this when trying to take a screencap inside the Playstation app, but the Playstation Store part of it. As I understand it, this is a restriction by the individual app. How can I bypass this? I already tried some overlay apps like "Touchshot," which the result is either when I open the PS Store, it force quits Touchshot, or it will take a picture but everything is black.
I am not rooted, and would hope to find a solution without rooting. I also saw solutions that involve hooking up the phone to a PC, which I also would like to try to avoid as well. Is this restriction exclusive to the S7/Samsung phones, or it this a universal Android problem? If not, which phones do not have this problem?
If I have to root the phone to do it, is there currently an S7 Edge root that does not trip Knox? Anything else I should know?
Thanks for any help you can give!

No workaround for this, rooted or otherwise, that I'm aware of.

Well there is a way to do it if you are rooted. But since I am not, I was trying to deal with it that way...
Is there even a root for the S7 without tripping Knox yet? If there was, I might root it.
Anyway, thanks for the reply!
