I keep having internet connectivity issues (the connection fully drops for 30 seconds) when streaming videos on Funimation or watching videos on YouTube. This doesn't happen with Nougat but has happened to me with the Oreo update as well as any custom ROMs that are either Oreo or Pie. I have tried lineage, ressurection remix, cr Droid, they all have issues. I don't think my phone is defective or my connection issues would be worse. I connect to my router. Any ideas?

Have done some searching and have not found this exact issue. Sorry if its a repeat. Also please excuse typos. N7 keyboard and me don't always see eye to eye.
I own 2 32 GB N7s (well one is my gf's) . Both purchased refurbished at the same time on woot. Both upgraded to 4.4. Mine was very quickly unlocked and rooted. Mine has a custom recovery (forget which right now) and multirom. Only other ROM is ubuntu touch.
Mine will randomly disconnect from WiFi. The interval varies from less than a minute to more than 10 between disconnects. The stronger the signal the less it occurs, but it will occur right next to a router. It also seems to occurs (or is more noticeable) when doing things that require more bandwidth, such as streaming or loading heavy pages.
Most often it will reconnect on its own, but I can normally speed the reconnect by turning WiFi off and on or forcing the reconnect in settings. I have tried multiple routers, and other devices on the network (android phones, laptops, and the other N7) do not exhibit this behavior.
I did have to reeplace my USB jack. And I was inside the n7 one other time, it got dropped and would not boot. The battery had shifted and come partially unplugged. The issues started well before the port replacement, but the drop was to early in my ownership to tell if it was the cause. If it is I can only assume that it would be weak signal. Probably from removing the case and there being a poor connection to the antennas, but signal strength shows about the same as the other n7 when side by side.
There is a precourser to the drop as well. Data will stop before the WiFi indicator greys out. If you catch it and look at the notification area you can often see the send I dictator but no receive before the disconnect.
Anyone have any ideas? Are there any logs that may hold clues? It is annoying when streaming in house to have to reconnect multiple times during a show, and then often restart the stream and fi d your place only to have it happen again. Gaming suffers to. For email and browsing it is not a major issue, but I would still love to try to fix it.
Thanks!
Hi brad we are on the same boat . Wifi unstable but the other phone working good. Ive tried update to 4.4.3, and wifi connected very fast but the problem still there. UPDATE: The issue is slowly appearing on all new releases of other custom ROMs, even ones that aren't based on LineageOS.
After the recent updates to Lineage OS I have started to encounter a WiFi issue on my Moto X Play (lux). The WiFi connects just fine after the first boot of the device but if I turn WiFi off and back on, it will take about a minute to scan and connect to the network. Frequently I also see a message saying that the password is incorrect. Sometimes the WiFi displays as connecting immediately and sometimes it just says Saved but regardless of that it always takes a long time to actually connect. Usually I wait about one minute for it to automatically connect since the manual process does not work.
I have tested this on two internet routers and encountered the issue with both of them but in different ROMs which are not based on Lineage OS it works just fine. My guess is that this is a kernel issue.
Is anybody else having similar issues? Are there any known bugs and possible fixes?
same problems here, after updating lineage OS

Hmm... So this is also happening on other devices. Can you get it to work sometimes or is it not functional at all?

No way. I have re-flashed 3 times and now I have installed an AOSP ROM which, surprisingly, also has the issue. This is a serious bug and it needs to be fixed quickly.

Now the issue is coming to all ROMs with their respective updates. This isn't going in the right direction...
Have you tried flashing back to stock ROM first then flashing a custom ROM?

The issue can be solved by disabling WiFi scanning in the scanning settings (sometimes you might need to disable Bluetooth scanning, also).

Ive been having these issues for weeks and this cleared them all up. Moto X Play running Lineage OS 14.1. Thanks Chitonactis
I have a issue with WiFi. After I clean flashed lineage, my wifi connection became super unstable. It goes all the way up to the max connection speed then goes down to a point where it become slow, and the cycle keeps repeating. I checked my connection so I'm 100% sure it's not my internet speed. LTE speed is normal.
I suspect it's either a ROM bug or a modem img issue. Any ideas on how to solve this?
@edit: I had the exactly same problem with the previous custom ROM I was using.
I was having this kind of issue with every ROM i've tried. Just installed LineageOS and haven't got this bug since.
Perhaps some kind of incompatibility with the wireless AP? The crappy I've got here is a router and a repeater of different manufactures. So they keep stop talking between themselves and my network drops. Since lineage, however, i've been able to notice when it's the router problem.

The thing is, I wasn't having this problem with the stock ROM. It began when I flashed a custom one and now I have no idea of what is causing this...
Just tried WiFi Hotspot in my car, I usually set it up such that my Alexa is connected to my phone hotspot while driving. While Alexa can connect to the hotspot, it cannot playback any music or ebook. I tried connecting Alexa to my home Wifi and everything works, so it looks like a WiFi issue from the phone... any idea?
Trying tethering my iPad to OP5 and it seems fine, can play Youtube... so maybe it's temporary issue w/ Amazon server, will test again later. :/
trying more and it's still the same... very frustrated.
Are there some kind of firewall with the hotspot setting that may have blocked something going to the Echo?
You know I just going to blame Android 7.0 Nougat any chance we can have a CyanogenMod 13 6.01 based foxfi friendly ROM ?
Hello Everyone, I have a very irritating issue with WIFI in this phone. Every other gadget works fine on wifi, stable connection, no signal drops everything is fine except this phone. Signal drops every few minutes followed by complete disconnection, and then reconnect. Most of the things I do requires stable connection. So any help ? Things to be noted: I'm on May Update, Rooted with TWRP (Magisk).
I found the same thing, continuous connection and then disconnection. The Mi A1 mobile connection and the wi-fi connection seemed to be fighting a bit, the problem started when I put a new SIM in. (Oreo 8.0, first May security update at the time.)
I had to make some small changes in my router for the wireless settings, then my Mi A1 wi-fi was good again. When I first got VoIP, I made some router changes that were said to be beneficial to VoIP, though not strictly necessary...I had to undo some of them. Do any of these circumstances sound familiar?
