Fingerprint scanner on Oreo - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi
I have a VS995 running v99520c Oreo 8.0 Oct security patch. I am in the UK and for some reason I received the Oreo update OTA followed by the Oct security patch also OTA. MY problem is that there appears to be no way to enable the fingerprint scanner or at least I cannot find it so am stock to using Pin etc. Anyone have the sma problem and found a solution. TIA.

There's numerous reports of fingerprint being broken after updating to oreo. My understanding is that you have downgrade to full stock nougat and then do full wipes, format data and flash full firmware oreo to fix it

New stock firmware available (24.221.8)

Hi all.
I just noticed there's new firmware. Has anyone updated yet? In using an XT1572.
I'm rooted etc... So I can't quite simply update.
Should I be flashing the last stock firmware i have and then update? The last fastboot I have is the February patch, but my phone is on the May patch. Whatever firmware i flashed gives me another language in the update notification screen...lol.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just do my thing blindly.

After your post, I rechecked the update service on my phone (xt1572 also). I got also new update here, but right now I cant do update (rooted + xposed). WIll try later, but I suppose that there is just new security patch. Strange that I got another version..
EDIT:
fount out Motowebpage
it look like the only improvements are - September security patch there.
Is the update for India dual sim xt1572?
I've installed the update today. The download size was about 40 MB, so seems to be a small patch indeed. I can confirm that it contains the september security patch, haven't noticed anything else yet.
I do think it's a shame that Moto is lacking so much in the update department lately. This is a security patch of two months ago... Also I would have expected them to have news on Nougat by now, at least for their Moto Z family...
6.0.1 ? at the time of 7.0?

it's not 6.0.1 update it's only security patch, we already had 6.0.1 in eu for a while
Has someone already tried the update with Flashfire? Im Rooted, on Frankenclark and Xposed. Does anyone know if we can get a flashable zip to flash in TWRP? To much work to go back to Stock, update and install everything again. Is the patch it worth?

can someone upload full firmware for retasia? thx
We have to wait for Moto to release/leak the firmware image, the OTA zip won't do any good... This usually takes 2-4 weeks, sometimes more, to get the factory image. Be patient.
BTW, it is nothing special, all it does is patch to the Sept 1, 2016, security update, including Dirty Cow (which if you have been following the security threads is pretty much worthless on Lollipop and newer devices anyway)

New OTA security update

Woke up this morning just to find that I have a new system update. Checked it and it say it's a security update, size is about 36M . Can't flash it since I am rooted and I can't find any new update under the factory images page.
Anyone else got it?
EDIT:
It seems that the August security patch has come early this month

Getting update notification after manual flash

Hi Everyone,
So I originally installed Oreo via OTA from Nougat but started to experience sluggishness and performance issues. I decided to manually flash the Oreo 6P image from the Google site to start from a clean state and hopefully resolve my device's performance issues. So I unlocked the boot loader, flashed the latest build OPR6.170623.017 which includes the September security patch and relocked the boot loader without any issues. This is where it got kind of weird, after the initial boot and device setup I got an OTA notification for Android 8.0 Oreo thats 991.4 MB in size. This looks to be the full 8.0 OTA upgrade but I'm not sure why I'm getting this notification after I just manually flashed the latest version. I've double checked the build number and security patch date in the settings menu and they all match the latest image I flashed from the Google site. Had anyone ever encountered this before or know what's going on? Why would I get an OTA after manually flashing the latest build? Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Would you maybe elaborate how you fixed this issue? I'm experiencing exactly the same thing right now..

Ver .017 is the latest factory image but that is not the latest version. The full OTA is ver .019, which is technically the latest version. There is no factory image for it at the moment. Just an ota package. Hence the notice to download and install again

questions about the 7.1.1 update

Hi guys, I recently read about 7.1.1 being officially released, the thing is I already updated to Nougat via the soak test uploaded last year, should I revert to stock rom and get Nougat officially? How it is on performance quality?, Also, I'm on September security patch, do i have risk of bricking?
If you flash this through fastboot you will get 1 November 2017 security patch without having to downgrade. Then you may get December and February updates

How is your GPS on that firmware? Also, do you know if that firmware will work on the XT1607?

I'm not able to tell you how GPS works because I don't own the phone, I installed it in a friend's phone. And AFAIK it can be installed on all models except Verizon's XT1609. Tell me if it works for you

Tmobile 9.0.4 OTA Gone

This is a kind of weird issue but I received my T-Mobile Oneplus 6T and I set it up, it prompted me to update to 9.0.4 but I had factory resetted it due to me wanting to change some settings in the setup process. When I set it up again, there is no update available and I seem to be stuck on 9.0 . Is there any way to upgrade to 9.0.4 again :/
I would contact T-mobile.
Isn't TMobile still on 9.0? There was one OTA update, but should still say 9.0. Do you have updated navigation gestures?
If you're on November security update than you have newest update.

There was never a release for 9.0.4 for TMO, it's still at 9.0 with November Security patch.

Oh Okay got it!! Thank you all so much, I thought the version was supposed to be 9.0.4. I have the November Security Patch so it should be good.
Thank You!
