My dad gave me his Nexus 4 to look at the other day because his phone is running slow and using up power very quick . I saw it has been installed couple of suspicious apps like gaining root permission, mobile assistant etc, can't remember the names cause I did a factory reset immediately (already backup the data). Ok it should be clean but then I saw a update notification (it's still on 4.4.3) so go upgrade. The phone reboot into upgrading interface, but after a while it showed 'Error' with a dead robot. I can restart the phone and it's sill in 4.4.3 and ok to use but just can't upgrade. I am thinking those apps must have done something otherwise the phone should be good to upgrade after a factory reset. I am thinking some app may have started a upgrade but somehow never finished (not sure, just my feeling). BTW, my dad knows nothing regarding these apps, they were probably installed by my nephew when he was visiting my parents. Any idea?
If you've done a factory reset you might as well go one step further and unlock the bootloader and flash the 5.0.1 factory image and be done with it

I know I can go down that route (boot loader, root, customer image etc), but I am couple of years from doing that last time. So just want some really simple approach if possible. Something like boot into upgrade menu, then clear some cache etc or check some settings etc (I am just thinking based on my faint memory of previous experience). Of course if there is no such thing, then I will do as recommended. Thanks.
BTW, I did the factory reset from settings when the phone is operating not some recovery tool.
Flashing a factory image is the easiest thing to do...

Have you messed around the stock system (bootloader, root etc)? I am asking because I don't know what has been done to my Dad's phone and since you got the same problem.

In the first step, in the Prerequisites -> 7. Fastboot binary (Put the file in <sdk_directory>/platform-tools)
The file appears to contain virus/trojan?
Probably a false positive but here's my files from my PC at work:

Trust me, they're not a virus

Thanks for that.
flashed new rom
Followed the link and finally flashed latest rom, fantastic! Thanks. I found the mskip’s toolkit alone is good enough for all the stuff (unlock bootloader, customer recovery, root, install and flash rom). It's much easier than I expected.
The reason I didn't link to toolkits is you're not learning anything by using them. If it goes went wrong, how would you have fixed it?
Better to learn it all now and then you have the knowledge
I have a Moto x pure, apparently the person I bought it from had it rooted and installed TWRP. He said he unrooted the phone or something before he sold it. I installe some app that said it was not rooted. Anyway, it will not let me do any updates or get the ota nougat update. Also when I do a factory reset and the phone restarts it comes back on all the same if all my stuff and there is some type of moto speach access software that randomly calls people or just responds to TV/radio in the background, cant figure out how to turn this off. I know nothing about rooting, using twrp or anything, just know basic android functionality. Awhile ago I googled some stuff and tried to remove twrp and install the factory recovery or something, but that didn't work. So I am looking for any help to get rid of twrp and reload the stock software or the newest version of android in the easiest may possible as know next to nothin on this stuff and very little about pc software, I would much rather just have the stock setup and not have to learn how to load stuff through twrp, root , etc Just need basic functionality. The main things that I do not like about the twrp being installd and the boot load being unlocked is that it will not update and constatntly comes up with reminders for updates, also I cannot open anything i google that is an ad or top listing(guess it is sometype of ad blocking) I am really sick of clicking on stuff at the top of google searches and having it not load. Please help I like this phone, but I am ready to take a hammer to it. thdx
Probably you still have twrp recovery.
Power off, vol - power, select recovery mode - power.
Into twrp - format data/factory reset, reboot.

It would be helpful if you could tell us which build version you are currently on. Go to "Settings", "About phone", and look for your Build Verson. This will let us know what options are available to you.

notsure if all that is needed. It does have the twrp installed and I really just want that off the phone and the stock software installed. I have no plans of learning the twrp, rooting, etc.
The phone also seems to run pretty hot and occasionaly the screen will bug out and look like it is going out, but is fine after I power cycle the phone.
Any further help is appreciated. THX

thx for the links. I do have twrp installed still, version 3.0.2-0, the home screen shows install, backup, mount, advanced, wipe, restore, settings, and reboot. If I click on reboot, then recovery it goes to the start screen(looks like dos mode with the graphic of an andriod guy ) from there if I press start it just starts up and from what I can tell it is all the same as before.
Really what I want is twrp off the phone, stock software, and be able to get OTA updates, etc in future. I have no desire to tinker with the software. thx
Don't remove twrp.
Reboot to twrp, wipe, do factory reset/format data. Reboot. @daleboot
Or flash the newest stock as in 1st link I gave.

Well, I think based on the information you gave with your Build Version and all, I think you can install the original firmware image to restore completely to stock. This is the only way to get back to stock to take future OTAs. Just so you know, as of this time, unless something has changed there is no OTA update available to Nougat for the Moto X Pure XT1575 US version.
Hello to all,
first of all sorry for my English, i'm using google translate, I do not know if you can help me here.
I bought this jewel from Gearbest and arrived yesterday.
I would like to unlock the bootloader and root it following this wonderful guide , but I can not get into developer options, I get the error "the settings application crashed abnormally"
I wanted to do this via the toolkit, but in EDL mode the phone is not recognized, maybe because in developer options I have to select the OEM UNLOCK.
The only good thing is that it recognizes usb debugging mode (at least I think) because I see the debug notification icon.
I can not understand where it came from, I went into bootloader mode but did not release me information.
From the onscreen screen I can only provide these info:
model number zte a2017g
version android 6.0.1
kernel version 3.18.20
build number zte a2017gv1.0.0b11
baseband version th.2.0.c1.9-00050-m8996faaaanazm
The MiFlavor version is 4.0
The smartphone does not receive OTA updates. I downloaded the global version (b05) of Nougat, the update with Android started I did not find it (I renamed the rom file in update.zip and put in the root of the SD CARD). I tried through recovery mode but it does not do anything to me, it's as if the smartphone was locked in everything and for everything.
I'm doing well ? How do I update when I download the rom? Can you please help me? Is there any system to interact with this smartphone and unlock it? I do not want to keep a phone that I can not update and root it.
Thanks in advance to who will help.
UPDATE:
I tried to manually install the downloaded ROM, but in recovery mode it does not flash the new rom ... the phone does not even try it !!!
It's as if the phone was locked in everything and I only have to keep the installed rom.
Some idea ?

Hey I would recommend clearing the data for settings if you can. To do this go to your launcher, find the settings icon and either drag or hold down or do whatever it takes to get to the app info. I haven't used stock in a long time so idk. But then go into storage and clear data. Then go and try again.
I do have one question though. How did you get usb adb debugging enabled if you didn't get into developer options at all?
For the second half of your question you won't be able to flash anything without first unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP onto the device. For the devices recovery idk which one you meant, but it needs to be TWRP. Good luck!

Thanks to my friend, without doing anything, suddenly, he made me enter the developer options menu.
I've been able to do the rest.
Now I have the phone with unlocked bootloader, root and TWRP installed.
Do not ask me how I got the debug without going into the menu, I could not answer you ... it will remain a mystery !!!
I take advantage of your availability: can I flash the zip of the official ROM through TWRP? Or is there a risk that the phone goes into brick mode?

You can't flash an official zip through TWRP, it will just fail. No brick.
Edit: didn't read OP lol. If you want to update, you have to flash the stock recovery (there are stock recovery flashable zips on the Download Center) then install the update, then get TWRP again. Or you can install a custom ROM (I recommend one based on stock MiFavor 5.0, I think that the best one is ADM Team V3 (the one that's not based on B13), this way you can simply download, flash in TWRP, and you'll be done

Very poor support? It's going to get Android O, and it's got at least 1 update per month (officially). It's unclear whether that ROM you installed will be updated since it's based on an older version, but the latest (B13) breaks a bunch of stuff like Google Play Games, Maps, the GPS works awfully...

No no ... do not get me wrong.
My reference is to rom, MiFlavor is really bad. I come from 3 Xiaomi smartphones and I can assure you is another world.
The smartphone is really nice and well balanced (apart from the just enough battery) and I would replenish it a thousand times. :fingers-crossed::good:

will not long ago I want to root my smart phone is a Huawei P10 Lite released model WAS-LX3 with EMUI and Android version 8.0.0
When trying to root, I opened the bootloader without problem, and install a version of TWRP that apparently was for the P10 lite but when it had the version of android Nougat, in my country was just unlocked Oreo, I do not know if there was the problem but when wanting to install supersu or magiskV I got an error and in the end it was not possible
when I stop trying after a while I keep getting updates, but I have not installed them for fear they will not, find out if they try to root the phone, attached image of the update
by the way now every time I restart the mobile I get a black screen, image also below, with a link to try to enter but said that the page was not available
finally my question is
It will cause some problem if I install the updates, I want to do it, but I am afraid that I will wrap my cell phone or leave it unusable, I really do not know if it is serious or not, but I prefer to avoid problems if they can arise, The update is the WAS-LX3 8.0.0.364 (C605) says that they are google security patches.
my current version is WAS-LX3 8.0.0.360 (C605)

The black screen say something like "Your Phone is unlocked"?
If is that, you don't need to worry, is because you unlock the bootloader.

Sorry, but it's a little hard to understand you.
Anyway when you have a custom Recovery installed then you can't install OTA updates, but if you have a stock recovery then they should work without problems even when your bootloader is unlocked. And that screen appears when you have unlocked your bootloader as Ret-Zero said already.
Also your images don't work. Use the preview post option to see if they work or not before posting. I have personally used Imgur for inserting images and have never had a problem with it.
RE: about suggestion and correction
Thank you for helping me, and I'm sorry if it was for the grammar, I'm Spanish speaking so I use a translator, and if it was because I did not understand ... I'm sorry hehe
I just updated, thanks for the suggestion of imgur
that is the screen that appears when starting
does not have the factory recovery installed a modified TWRP, and that's the update that I get
I knew that technically, via OTA, they should not come to me because they opened the bootloader, but maybe I'm wrong

Yes that is the screen that you get when your bootloader is unlocked. When you press the power button it will boot you into android and when you press volume up then it should boot you into the stock eRecovery no matter what, even when you have a custom recovery installed. To boot into the custom recovery reboot the phone while holding volume up.
I don't think that unlocking the bootloader will prevent you from getting OTA updates, it will just give you the ability to flash custom images whether it be custom recovery, kernel or an entire OS.
Also your images are so big that they don't fit onto my laptop screen. When you choose an image in Imgur, in the same window that has all the different links, it also has options for changing the size of the image.

that was my doubt, is that I wanted to avoid any inconvenience if a bad installation arose because I was touching the cell haha

help, I think the update has gone wrong or not
as no longer supposedly there were no problems of errors, I gave him to install the update
and I reboot the cell phone, normal, always does it when installing updates
but I started the custom TWRP, now that I give it a reboot and I want to reboot the system or just turn off the disositive
A message appears in blue saying: "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to power off?"
if I reboot the system, it puts me back into the TWRP
and if I turn off the phone and then turn it on normally
puts me in the system
what happened??
it could not be that I deleted the OS ... if it was just an update, and if it was, how to install the stock again

You had a custom recovery installed while performing the update so it couldn't install it. To unbrick you phone use HuRUpdaterhttps://www.google.ee/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/amp/. It may be a little difficult to set up especially since you use a translator.
I'll give you clearer instructions when I have more. time

Ok, i'll give you step by step instructions. Hopefully your translator doesn't ruin the translation. Also I'm assuming your using Windows. When you are using linux then I'll probably have to give you the firmware files myself since Firmware Finder isn't for Linux.
1. Install Huawei Firmware Finder for Windows and open it.
2. Click on the tab that says "Common Base" and search for Was-LX3C605
3. Click filelist on the Was-LX3C605B364 firmware MAKE SURE THAT THE TYPE IS FULLOTA-MF
4. You should see 3 links. Copy them to your browser and download those 3 files. Their combined size is about 2.5 GB.
5. Put the 3 zip files that you downloaded into an empty folder.

"update_data_full_public.zip" to "update_data_public.zip"
Don't rename "update.zip"
7. Download "HuRUpdater_0.4.zip" and put it also into the folder that you crated.
8. Boot to TWRP and move the folder into your phone's SD-Card.
9. Then flash only "HuRUpdater_0.4.zip". After flashing you'll have to press volume down otherwise it will abort the script.
Then you will need to wait a little. It will also show 3 unknown command errors written in red text. Ignore those because they don't mean anything.
When the installation failed then there is probably a problem with you Custom Recovery. When it worked then you should be able to boot into Android and also have the latest firmware.:fingers-crossed:

Thank you very much, yes, what I do is first translated and read it, and then see it in English hahaha, I can read English, what costs me too much is ecrbirilo
I have a question, I have seen how to install the custom ROMS that you are in XDA, it is very easy and I only need the TWRP
but, is there a problem if I install one of those? because it would take advantage and put one that already has root available

I would get the stock rom working first and have a way to always go back to stock on my sd-card in case something goes wrong or you just wish to go back to stock. Otherwise installing custom roms is easy as long as you follow the instructions, I have seen many times that newer members say that their phones are bricked because they wiped every single partition or something like that while trying to install a custom rom. Usually you only have to wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache.
There's no point to installing pre-rooted roms if these even exist on huawei devices. When you wan't to root just install the latest version of magisk and you are good to go.
Also your device is C605 and not C432(European version). I am almost certain that you don't have to rebrand to C432 when installing custom roms especially treble roms but I am not entirely sure
Also you can find lots of treble roms that work for our devices in the p8 lite (2017) development forum

That video wouldn't work because it's for EMUI 5 only.
Try to boot to TWRP then select mount and make sure that cache, cust, data, system, vendor are mounted(have checkmarks next to them.
When it still doesn't work then boot to fastboot and check if phone and frp are unlocked when they are install this TWRP(use the 0.2 test version) then try again
Edit: I would also like to know what recovery are you using. Can you give me the link please

A summary of what happened:
I turned off the cell because I needed the SD, and when I started it again
Instead of starting with TWRP, start with the stock recovery
And well there you only get 3 options, which is an Android start, turn off and I do not remember the last
I gave it to start system
And I start the phone all normal
Honestly I do not know what happened hahaha but I already have a cell phone
Now if I still have the custom recovery or the bootloader open I do not know it hahaha at the moment I do not want to keep touching more things
And about the version I had, I do not remember, at that time I think there was not for Android oreo, or for the p10 lite
I think I installed one of an honor 9
Is that in the official listings on the TWRP page did not appear p10 lite
Then lower the honor
I do not know if there is already TWRP that works well
I remember that I could not install supersu nor magisk before
And about the data, cache, no, those were demarcated.
I do not know why, nor did I know what it was for

I have no idea why your phone booted suddenly. The reason your installation failed is because the TWRP that you were using wasn't able to mount the required partions for some reason, the same probably happend when you were trying to install magisk.
Also yes that TWRP is for the honor 9 lite. But the honor 9 lite, p8 lite(2017), p10 lite, mate 10 lite just to name a few are all hi6250 devices so their recoveries, kernels and roms should work for all hi6250 devices. The good thing about this TWRP is that it works both in stock and custom roms but it has some minor bug.
Or you can also use this TWRP. This works perfectly for stock roms, but when you use custom roms then it doesn't even boot, it just hangs on the TWRP logo. One time It didn't even boot when I were on a stock rom but had wiped system, dalvik, data and internal storage and frp was also locked itself for some reason so I bricked my phone and payed 20€ for dc-phoenix to fix it. Back then I had no idea what I was doing anyway. You will also have to remove your screenlock password before using this TWRP because it checks for it when you boot into it, but even when you type the right password it still doesn't work and then it fails to unmount data.
I've used them both and they work really well, also I have no idea what I am writing about since I'm very tired. It's 00.40 AM for me.

do not worry, it's serious thank you for all your help, I still have a lot to learn
This is a last request, answer when you can
I would like you to give me a link or the post where the best TWRP is for the p10 lite, the one that works with both stock and personalized rooms, now I want to see if I can change rooms
and on the partitions, I remember that in a twrp area I said mount, and the partitions where I got an error, they were disassembled, they were not marked
It was not me, I guess that was the case since I installed the twrp,
That and how you installed the twrp, maybe that's why the one I have did not do things well, I installed the one I tell you of honor, with Huawei MultiTool, from the same channel of the video that I was going to follow
install the honor because it was the only one that worked, all others gave me error, I do not know if it was because the tool because in other forums I read that when it was updated to support EMUI 8, I made many errors when installing twrp, so it was with me
Hi,
I'm French and my level in english is not very high.
So I try to unlock my wife's phone but I havbe understood that it is no more possible with the classic way with huawei support.
Does exist another way tu do this ? Or is it definitivly impossible ?
No french forum can explain this.
As I can see many custom Roms here I keep a hope !
Hi, yes it should be still possible.
DC-Unlocker is what you need. The operation has a cost in credits, 4$ are necessary to unlock the device since it's the cost that DC asks from retrieve bootloader code from your device.
If you're definitely motivated to do it, it's your only chance but luckily it's an acceptable prize.

Yeah, but not for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 version... I found this to be possible just for older phones (like the original P8 lite) which can be downgraded to Android 5. Newer ones can't be flashed with unsigned firmware (= firmware which is not straight from damn Huawei who decided not to provide the bootloader codes in the first place) so the only way apparently is to use paid software like DC-Unlocker as stated in this official XDA thread --> https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader-fee/

Unlocked the bootloader yesterday! I have Huawei P8 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1 and had latest Emui 8 build on it... Bought the code for 4€ from DC-Unlocker, and required around 2 minutes for unlocking. You can follow this guide --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xYybHAlWaQ
I tried so hard to get the code for free, and I know modding should not cost people money. But at the end of the day, I think those 4 euros were worth it
Yeah,4 Euros is ok and the only method!!!

Dear all,
sorry in advance for the silly question but in this regard I am dumb as a brick.
I run DC Unlocker, got the phone unlocked but now the only thing I have is the stock boot telling me the phone is unlocked and therefore cannot be trusted. From there on, I do not know how to procede in order to install TWRP recovery + LineageOS 17.1. I tried to install TWRP but it only runs after a factory reset with the "stock" Huawei eRecovery and every time I reboot (I even got to the point of installing LineageOS via fastboot) it is always back to square one.
Again, sorry, but the last phone I "worked on" was an HTC Desire HD some 8 years ago, therefore you can guess I lost some years of advancements
Thank you for any help regarding the steps I am missing, links to guides much much appreciated.
Best and ciao from Italy

Don't fully get your question. Current situation is: Phone unlocked with DC Unlocker. When I switch it on I get the "phone is unlocked" message and if I don't do anything it starts booting stock OS, otherwise goes into Huawei eRecovery. If from Huawei eRecovery I do a full wipe, it starts TWRP. But even if I work on TWRP, when I reboot it is all back to "phone is unlocked". And again, and again. Hope it is clearer.
Thanks

Yeah I get it now, the problem is if you wanna go to twrp sometimes you have to press volume up and hold it until logo shows up, sometimes you had to hold both volume buttons etc. It's kinda wierd but the factory format from erecovery is in twrp disabled due to this because sometimes it wont let you boot until format (that triggers almost anything like fastly restarting to and from recovery etc.).
So keep calm it's "normal".

Just for your information, TWRP on this device is not fully supported. Every TWRP version you may find on XDA forums for this particular device is different. In my case TWRP back up doesn't work, wipe cache doesn't work, format data only breaks the system partition , flash GSI's from TWRP also doesn't work XDXD
The only thing I could do from TWRP was flash Magisk and hope that nothing will go wrong in the future ...XD got it? Flash and forget ???

Thank you for your support. To reinstate some order in the procedure, yesterday I reinstalled EMUI from eRecovery and now I am back to "zero-point-one", aka right after DC Unlocker: when I switch on the phone it says it is unlocked and then launches stock OS. From now on what should I do to have in the end LineageOS 17.1 installed? Again, thanks for your time

Hi!
So, I installed Lineage OS 17.1 on my sister's phone just two days ago, maybe I can give you some advice being myself a beginner. So, first of all, I guess you have enabled OEM unlock (otherwise you could not flash TWRP I guess? I don't think this is the point anyway) If not so, go to Developer Options --> Enable OEM unlock and you will see both the bootloader and FRP unlocked.
The try to follow the DarkJoker360's Lineage OS 17.1 install guide step by step (don't forget to flash the los_patches_prague.zip!). The right version of TWRP is important too for compatibility issues, so install the version he provided.
Anyway, as @DunoCZ pointed out, for entering TWRP recovery you have to press Volume UP button + Power button and keep them pressed until you get to the TWRP. Otherwise, what the device does is either booting up or go to the screen like "Press Volume UP for at least 3 seconds to go to erecovery" and if you do that, it will go into Huawei's own recovery.
Another thing is... Did you do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik/art cache) in TWRP before trying to flash the new ROM? (don't just do the factory reset in Huawei's recovery, I read somewhere it doesn't wipe everything like the advanced one in the custom recovery)

Because as you wrote here, the stock OS booted up before you installed stock from again via Huawei erecovery. So my wild guess is that the wipe you did before flashing Lineage OS wasn't a full wipe?
---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ----------
By the way, after installing Lineage OS 17.1 I found out there were indeed some very important problems in the ROM as noticed by other testers too...
The reason why I changed the ROM on the device was mainly because of two reasons:
1) Short battery life
2) Not enough memory
And unfortunately, on Lineage OS 17.1:
1) Battery life not good enough. Unless you fix it by patching a new kernel, be always wary of apps running on your device etc., the battery ran short even after replacing the internal battery. Alas. Besides, I wanted something stable for my sis who threatened me to buy an iPhone if I couldn't fix her phone lol
2) Very big problem with memory: I couldn't find a way to write to the SD card as other users pointed out. It is read by the device, but apparently it is read only and even with root permissions I couldn't find a way to obtain write permission for the apps. Perhaps some options in fstab mount file should be changed, but honestly, I tried with my below-average knowledge of Linux and gave up :crying:
But then... I tried Lineage OS 15.1 and this one worked much, much better. Battery life is super good and has the adoptable storage option for the SD card! This way, instead of those 9 gigs of memory now the phone has more than 70! And honestly, this ROM solved both the most important problems of this phone
(PS: sorry for the long posts lol)
(PPS: if you decide to switch to 15.1, remember to decrypt the memory following this post otherwise you won't be able to install more that a bunch of apps on the phone. Besides, remember to flash Dil3mm4 's TWRP recovery)
